The drunk — whose wallet Melanie stole — caught up with her. A scared Melanie told him to take it. He did, but told Melanie he was going to teach her a lesson. Philip arrived and shooed the creep off. Philip gave Melanie hell for messing with a sleazy drunk. Melanie noted Philip had saved her life twice and snottily asked if he wanted a medal. Philip promised not to come to her rescue again. Melanie went off about what was really bothering her: everybody blaming her for everything. She didn't kill her father. Nick did. Philip told Melanie she needed to make better choices, like no more "petty thievery." Melanie blamed Philip for not giving her a job. Philip was tired of hearing her self-pity. Melanie called Philip spoiled and pampered. Later, Melanie returned to Maggie's and started complaining about her day. Maggie told the brat she was welcome to stay there, but she didn't want to hear her problems. Maggie gave Melanie a message from Philip: he'd called and offered her the job at Titan.
Lucas, Chloe and Daniel fetched Kate for a surprise party at Victor's. Meanwhile, at the mansion, Brady stopped by to see Victor. Victor explained he was having a get-together for Kate. Brady was anxious to see her. Victor didn't think that was a good idea, since Lucas and Chloe would be at the festivities. Brady noted he'd spoken to Chloe and Nicole and made peace with both of them. He wished Victor could do the same. Victor wasn't game. He filled Brady in on the fact that he and Nicole had never been married; hence, she'd been cheating him out of money for years. Chelsea arrived, followed by the rest of the gang. When Brady went to answer the door, Chelsea told Victor about horrible Melanie and how she'd driven Nick to commit murder. Brady returned with Kate and company. Everyone exchanged pleasantries, except Victor and Chloe. Daniel interrupted, noting if Victor knew how much Chloe had helped Kate, he might cut her some slack. Daniel got a phone call and returned to the hospital, where he got some distressing news. Back at the party the Victor/Chloe spatting continued. Philip finally arrived. He and Victor told Kate how wonderful she looked and that the worst was behind her. Alone, Philip told Kate that in light of everything Daniel had done for her, he was fine with their relationship. Chloe complained to Lucas for the way Victor was treating her. Lucas said that his loving Chloe was the only thing that counted. Daniel returned and Philip gave him a thank you gift for everything he'd done for Kate. Daniel refused to accept it. Treating Kate was a privilege. Philip proposed a toast to his incredible mom. Daniel couldn't hide his worry.
EJ brought Johnny to see Nicole and asked if she was okay. Nicole wasn't and admitted it was the baby. While EJ left to put Johnny to bed, Nicole got a call from Brady, who was checking on her. She cut him off as EJ returned. EJ asked who she was talking to and wondered if it was the same man she met at the lodge. Nicole noted it was more important why she wasn't alone than who she was with. "Something happened at the lodge," confessed Nicole. "To our baby?" asked EJ. "Yes," said Nicole, noting after EJ called and said he had to work, she went to her car and "felt this awful twinge." A guy took her to the hospital, where she was treated for hemorrhaging. Nicole assured EJ their baby was fine and asked for some time alone to rest. EJ left. Nicole cried, vowing to find a way to give EJ a baby some day. Meanwhile, EJ phoned the clinic to ask what happened to Nicole.
