Monday
Roman told John that cocaine was found in his dock shipment. John noted he'd have to be stupid to bring drugs into the Salem port with the tight security and insisted Philip was behind this. Marlena couldn't believe Philip did it and asked for John's word he had nothing to do with the drugs. John swore he didn't and wanted to head to the docks. Roman said he couldn't. If John tried, Roman would arrest him. John proceeded, Roman grabbed him, and John karate chopped him to the floor. Roman told John he'd made a big mistake. Then, he got up and arrested John, who yelled he didn't want to be handcuffed, as he flashed back to being bound to Stefano's chair. John struggled. Marlena took out a hypodermic needle and injected him in his arm. A stunned John couldn't believe what the woman he trusted had done, as he fell to the floor. Marlena knew she had no choice.
At the pub, EJ asked if Philip was curious about what was going down at the docks. Chloe announced the cops had found a huge shipment of drugs on the docks and people were saying there was a shootout. Stephanie rushed out to see if Max was okay. He was and told Steph about the drug bust. Nicole walked into the pub, told EJ and Philip that Pookie was back, and ordered a dirty martini to celebrate. Max asked a passing cop about the dock situation. The cop kept mum. Inside, Nicole taunted Chloe about how the drug bust hit close to home for her, since she turned Brady into an addict, and the two bickered. Max and Steph came inside. Max approached Philip and mentioned his feud with John. Max wondered if Philip had anything to do with the drugs. Philip assured he hadn't. Abe arrived, saying he had a few questions for Philip. Chloe and Nicole continued to spat. EJ suggested Nicole head home, but she wouldn't budge. Alone, Abe accused Philip of setting up John. Philip said the Kiriakis business was legit. Steph wondered why Abe was questioning Philip. Max said Philip was a major player down at the docks. EJ pushed Nicole toward the door, and she asked him to come home with her. EJ declined. Philip's cell rang. When he hung up, Abe said he looked worried. Abe instructed Philip not to leave town and split. Philip promised he wouldn't. Max said he hoped Philip wasn't involved with the drugs found on John's ships.
Sami and Lucas kissed. Lucas admitted his love for Sami, noting she was the one confused about her feelings. Sami noted Lucas left her and didn't want to see her. Lucas asked if Sami loved EJ. Sami went on about how good EJ was with the twins. He was there for her when Lucas wasn't. Yet, Sami wanted to make things work with Lucas. Lucas wanted to start over, too, but admitted it would be hard forgetting the image of Sami and EJ in bed. He never told Sami to have sex with EJ, this time or the last. Sami opened the door and told Lucas to go. He left. Sami cried. Soon, Lucas came back and apologized, noting he was just trying to hurt Sami. He wasn't prepared for what he'd found. Lucas asked if Sami had feelings for EJ. Sami admitted she did. Lucas realized Sami had moved on. Sami insisted EJ had changed. That's why she forgave him for his misdeeds. She pointed out how EJ had forgiven Lucas for shooting him. Sami's cell rang and it was Mickey. After the call, she told Lucas she had proof EJ had changed. Mickey noted Lucas never would have been freed without EJ's help. He'd made a statement saying he held no animosity toward Lucas. Lucas said EJ had just done it to get in good with Sami, so he could seduce her. "He didn't seduce me...I wanted him," retorted Sami. Lucas said he was leaving. Sami begged him to stay. Her feelings for EJ would go away, if she and Lucas reconciled. Sami begged for a second chance. She wanted to be with Lucas. Lucas didn't think they could reconcile, because of Sami's feelings for EJ. He walked off and Sami sobbed.
Tuesday
John came to and freaked when he saw his hands were cuffed. Roman noted he'd assaulted a police officer, resisted arrest, and then there was the drug trafficking matter. John insisted he knew nothing about the drugs. Sami interrupted, and Marlena explained the situation. EJ asked if John needed a lawyer. John recounted everything that went down. EJ admitted John hitting a cop limited his options. Roman hauled John off. Lucas walked in and asked about the commotion. Sami explained. Lucas thought new John was capable of anything. Sami liked new John; he didn't judge her. "That's really subtle," countered Lucas. Sami swore she wasn't in love with EJ. She had feelings for him, but she wasn't in love with him. EJ stormed in annoyed and looked for his briefcase. Sami found it and took out their annulment papers. "I want to sign them," she said. "Absolutely," retorted EJ, wishing Sami a nice life. Alone, Sami and Lucas spent time with the twins. That is, until Lucas went off about having to share them with EJ. Sami asked Lucas if he wanted to start over. She wanted a future together. Lucas just had to forgive her so they could move on. Lucas didn't think he could. Sami said she'd give him time. There was nothing standing in their way, now that she signed the annulment papers. Sami said Lucas was the love of her life and kissed him. Lucas broke things off and left.
Ava was at the police station to sign papers to release her father's body. Chelsea arrived and lashed out at Ava for the plane crash and kidnapping plot. Ava refused to be baited. Chelsea warned her to stay away from her family. Abe walked in with the papers Ava needed and she walked off. Chelsea told Abe she was looking for her dad. Abe noted Bo was at the pub.
Daniel entered the pub to meet Bo, assuming he wanted to talk about Chelsea. Nope. Bo wanted to discuss making the pub eco-friendly, like they were doing at the hospital. Bo explained Maggie had already done it at Chez Rouge, as she and Nick looked on. Nick asked Daniel for his ideas. The foursome discussed the matter as Chelsea walked in. Suddenly everyone scattered, leaving Daniel with Chelsea. Daniel attempted to leave. A woman walked over with her daughter and reminded Daniel that he had saved her little girl's life. She called Daniel "an angel" and left. Chelsea was impressed. Daniel's phone rang. He answered it and noted it wasn't a good time. Finally, he agreed to meet the mystery person and asked Chelsea to tell everyone goodbye.
Roman hauled an irate John into the station. Marlena told Abe that John couldn't be confined. John said his instincts took over whenever he had a memory of being held in Stefano's lab. Abe questioned John about the drugs. John swore he knew nothing about that. EJ arrived, listing the civil liberty infractions perpetrated upon his client. Ava stood outside and listened. Abe took John off to book him, while Marlena begged Roman not to lock up John. Roman couldn't oblige. This new John could be guilty of a major crime. Ava approached EJ and asked him to take her case. EJ declined. Ava suggested he mull it over and offered to double his fee. EJ reconsidered. Meanwhile, Marlena continued pleading with Roman. Soon, Abe returned with John, noting he'd been booked. Roman called for a guard to take John to lockup. John begged Marlena to help him.
Chloe apologized to Philip for giving him a hard time earlier, admitting she was jealous of Morgan. Then, she announced she was leaving Salem. Philip quickly put a stop to her plans by kissing her. There was a knock on the door and it was Henderson with an express delivery for Chloe. It contained divorce papers. Chloe was sad, noting she thought Brady might have changed his mind. Philip consoled her. Just because love hadn't worked out for either of them, didn't mean it wouldn't. Chloe didn't want to talk any more. Neither did Philip, as he led Chloe to the bed and they succumbed to passion. Afterward, Chloe dressed and said their sexcapades may have been a mistake. She might be rebounding with Philip. Philip said he could take care of himself and lured Chloe back to bed.
Wednesday
Nicole interrupted Chloe and Philip's sexcapades and immediately began insulting Chloe, calling her a tramp and pointing out her cellulite. Chloe leaped out of bed, ready to attack her. Philip interceded and tossed Nicole out of his bedroom. When he returned, Chloe thanked him for defending her. Philip suggested Chloe not move out of the mansion. Chloe agreed to stay put, as she and Philip headed back to bed.
Stephanie wheeled Kayla to see baby Joe. Steve joined them, noting the car was out front. Kayla said she couldn't leave her son. Steve and Steph said they had a surprise for Kayla, but promised they'd come back later. The Johnson family approached Joe's incubator before leaving, chatted with the little tyke and told him how much they loved him. Later, Steve and Steph walked a blindfolded Kayla down a hallway. They opened the door and welcomed Kayla to their new apartment. Steph got a text message and said she had to run. Alone, Kayla told Steve the apartment was perfect, but it would never be home without baby Joe. Steve assured her he'd be there soon.
At the pub, Morgan read a paper she'd written and told Max her professor was meeting her to discuss it. Mark and David entered with their video equipment. Mark recognized Max as the famous race car driver and asked what he was up to now. He was surprised to learn Max was working at the pub and the docks. Morgan brought up the drug trafficking on the pier. Max wondered if John was guilty and suspected Morgan's dad might be involved, too. Soon, Professor DiCarlo arrived, followed by Steph. They discussed Nick and his grant. DiCarlo said Nick was going places. Steph and Morgan were on the fast track to successful careers, too. Max introduced himself to DiCarlo. Then, Steph asked Max if he was coming to the dinner in Nick's honor. Max wasn't sure. Steph encouraged him to attend, noting it was as much for Max as Nick.
Ava opened her laptop, connected to the Internet, and was stunned to learn EJ, her new lawyer, had been indicted for fraud. Nicole walked in, spotted Ava, and asked if she was the mob princess from the newspaper. Nicole complimented Ava on her shoes and sat down to chat. She mentioned her pending divorce from Victor. Ava said she was supposed to get married to Steve, but it didn't work out. The two gals bonded, as Ava told Nicole she hadn't dated anyone since Steve. Nicole suggested finding Ava a new stud with two good eyes, when in walked EJ. Nicole introduced him as her lawyer. Ava said EJ was her lawyer, too. EJ joined the tipsy twosome and gave them reports on their cases. There was a preliminary hearing date set for Nicole's divorce, and EJ had set up a plea bargain meeting with the DA regarding Ava.
EJ arrived home and asked Marlena if Sami was there. Marlena said Sami was with Lucas and the twins. Marlena accused EJ of being pleased that Lucas walked in on his romp with Sami. EJ claimed he wasn't. Marlena believed Sami and Lucas would reconcile in time. EJ doubted it, but vowed he wouldn't interfere. He wanted Sami to choose him of her own free will. Later, Marlena went to see Roman to talk about Sami. They talked about John, first. Roman noted the man Marlena fell in love with wasn't coming back and she needed to accept that. Marlena said she couldn't give up on John and told Roman she believed the drugs on John's ships were planted. Finally, Marlena told Roman that Sami had slept with EJ. Roman wondered if Lucas would take Sami back. Marlena wondered if Sami might lose both Lucas and EJ.
Thursday
Kayla bemoaned being separated from baby Joe. Steve told her their son was getting fine care at the hospital. No matter, Kayla swore she wouldn't rest until her little boy was home. Steve suggested watching a movie or reading. Kayla wasn't interested in any of it. She just wanted to go back to the hospital. Steve surprised Kayla with a box containing a swing for the baby and began assembling it. When he was done, he tested it with a teddy bear, only to have it fall apart. Steve got back to work. Later, he surprised Kayla with more baby things: a stuffed giraffe and a baby monitor. Kayla was melancholy. They had everything except their baby boy. Steve assured Kayla little Joe would pull through and be fine.
Everyone gathered at Chez Rouge — Bo, Hope, Lexie, Chelsea, Daniel, Stephanie — to celebrate Nick receiving his grant and the restaurant going green. Chelsea told Nick how proud she was of him. Lexie took the opportunity to talk to Hope about her marital problems with Abe. Hope thought seeing a therapist was a good idea. Nick asked Stephanie where Max was, noting he should be there, since he had a lot to do with getting the funding. Bo talked to Nick about his failed romance with Chelsea. Daniel joined two of his doctor pals for some drinks. One of them checked out Chelsea. Maggie introduced Dean Robbins to the crowd. He praised Nick and presented him with a check. Nick told the dean he had help with some of his formulas. Robbins said it was smart of Nick to get help. Daniel's doctor pal approached Chelsea and asked if he could buy her a drink. Chelsea declined, and the doc went back to his buddies, saying he noticed Chelsea eyeing Daniel. The other doc said he saw Chelsea follow Daniel into the locker room the other day. Daniel insisted nothing happened. After Bo toasted Maggie for going green, Maggie toasted Nick. Daniel got a phone call and split, as Chelsea watched him go. Max arrived and Steph rushed to greet him. Max spotted Dean Robbins and appeared oddly uncomfortable. Maggie offered Max champagne, but he said he couldn't stay and left as quickly as he arrived. Nick observed and pondered what was going down.
EJ and Nicole drank and chatted at the bar. Nicole told him she'd walked in on Philip and Chloe's sexcapades. Then, the conversation turned to Lucas finding Sami and EJ in bed together. Nicole figured Sami jumped out of EJ's bed and rushed off to beg Lucas to forgive her. She wondered what EJ's next move would be. EJ said it was giving Sami whatever she wanted, including an annulment. Then, he revealed a secret: Sami already signed the papers. EJ planned to play along, be the perfect father to Johnny and friend to Sami, until Sami wound up back in his bed. He planned to show Sami there was to more to life than Lucas. Nicole thought that plan was boring and suggested making Sami jealous by having her walk in on EJ in bed with another woman; someone who would get under Sami's skin. EJ was flattered, assuming Nicole was talking about herself. EJ admitted he'd sleep with Nicole in a heartbeat if he wasn't in love with Sami. When Nicole headed to the ladies' room, EJ ordered them another round of drinks.
Friday
At Chez Rouge, Bo and Hope chatted about Nick and Chelsea's breakup. Hope left to make a call and returned after checking on Ciara and talking to Kayla. Roman and Kate walked in and joined Bo and Hope. They heard a squeal in the distance. It was Maggie admiring Anna's wedding ring. Anna and Tony were back from their honeymoon. The newlyweds joined Bo, Hope, Roman and Kate and talked about their honeymoon and Bo's transplant. Anna wondered if Kate and Roman were back together. Nope. They were just catching up. Tony and Anna got up to dance, followed by Bo and Hope. Roman marveled over how in love Anna and Tony were. Kate said they were "in heat." Roman and Kate took to the dance floor.
Kate brought up Lucas being under house arrest at the DiMera mansion. Roman brought up Kate's meddling in Lucas and Sami's lives. Kate swore she was done with that much to Roman's delight.
Hope asked Anna if she was going to quit her job and go work for Tony. Anna noted her plan was to shop and visit spas. Tony chimed in that he would be earning money so Anna could spend it. Three couples all shared a toast to living happily ever after.
The doorbell rang at the DiMera mansion. Marlena answered it and found Ava, who needed to talk. Marlena let her in, but let Ava know Bo, Hope, Steve and Kayla were all her friends, she was on the plane Ava sabotaged, and Shawn Brady had been her father-in-law. Ava went on about her father drugging her, but said she was still filled with guilt over what happened. She talked about her desperation to find Steve, now not even being sure she still loved him, and the possibility of going to jail. Marlena suggested Ava keep moving forward and putting the past behind her. Ava thanked her for the chat and promised to call Marlena's office in the morning for the name and number of a therapist.
Stephanie arrived at the Pub and asked Max why he left Chez Rouge so abruptly. Max said he wasn't dressed right and had to get to work. Steph didn't believe him. She knew he fixed more on Nick's proposal than a couple of equations. Steph asked why Max didn't want anyone to know he is a mathematical genius. Since he didn't go to college, she wondered where he learned all of it. Max kept mum. The door opened and in walked Ava. Steph ordered her to leave. Ava asked about baby Joe. Steph told her there was no news and again told Ava to go. Ava obliged. Steph went back to
grilling Max and demanding he tell her the truth. Max was done talking about this. He said his shift was over and he was going upstairs to change. Then, they could go visit Steve and Kayla.
John paced at a holding room at the police station, when Abe came in suggesting he confess to drug trafficking. John insisted he was innocent. Philip set him up. He ordered Abe to investigate. Later, Marlena arrived. John was angry that she had sedated him. Marlena said she was worried someone would get hurt. John couldn't understand why Marlena wouldn't believe Philip or Victor set him up. Why would she trust them and not him? Marlena explained that since John's return he'd been acting like a criminal. A stunned John asked if Marlena truly believe he would be smuggling drugs. Marlena relented and said no. A guard summoned Marlena to go. John thanked her for believing in him, and Marlena told John she loved him and left.
