DAYS Week of May 10, 2010
Monday
Nicole was on the phone telling Frank she got into the gambling setup. Meanwhile, Dr. Baker tried to toss his cheap watch into the poker pot. Charlie stopped him and told him to go home. Nicole arrived and got into a game. She won a big pot and told Charlie he was $200 short. Charlie tossed in Brady's money clip. Nicole followed Charlie and pressured him to tell her where he got it. Charlie admitted winning it in a game. "How can I find the guy you won it from?" asked Nicole. Baker got a call from someone offering to lend him money to get back into the game. He returned to the poker hall and was stunned to find Nicole.
Brady told Arianna he was being released from the hospital.
Arianna worried he'd try to go after the guy who mugged him. Brady said he had resources the Salem PD didn't have. Arianna wanted to help. Brady didn't want her to. Arianna accused Brady of always wanting to play the hero and brought up Nicole and her always showing up around him. Brady tried to reassure Arianna about his feelings by moving in for a kiss.
Hope and Abe discussed the mugging case. Hope noted that EJ said there were two muggers. She was sure one was a woman, based on the mark on Brady's chest: the Celtic symbol for female empowerment. Later, Hope was on the phone with Maggie, who told her Ciara couldn't spend the night. Hope was down, since she wanted to work on the case. Abe said he couldn't look after Ciara, either. Later, Hope was home in bed reading Ciara a story. Then, she popped a pill, kissed Ciara, and settled into bed.
Melanie told Nathan she had something to tell him about Stephanie. She wondered if the two of them were moving too fast. Steph arrived on cue. Nathan said they were talking about her. Melanie said she didn't think Nathan was as serious about Steph as she was about him. Steph got a call and split. Nathan thanked Melanie for her concern, but swore he didn't need it. Later, Nathan admitted he was crazy about Steph, but wanted to take things slow. Steph agreed, and they started smooching. Nathan got a call and left. Alone, Steph muttered Nathan was ready, he just needed a push. Then, she tossed away her birth control pills.
Victor took Maggie to the hospital after her spell. Melanie hovered over her. Maggie sensed something was wrong. Melanie admitted she could have told Nathan something that would had made him break up with Steph, but decided he should make his own decisions. Maggie was proud, noting Melanie "took the high road." She wondered if she could do it again with Victor by giving him a chance. Melanie found Victor outside Maggie's room and thanked him for being so kind to Maggie. Victor went in to see Maggie, mentioned the conversation, and thanked her.
Calliope probed a tipsy Anna about who helped her kidnap Sydney as Rafe listened. Anna grew suspicious and asked when Calliope started working for the cops. Calliope swore she wasn't, insisting their meeting was fate. She said her life was a mess like Anna's and that she came to the island because Eugene left her. Anna apologized and started opening up to her old friend. She admitted she didn't kidnap Sydney alone, but before she could reveal her accomplice, passed out. Calliope reconvened with Rafe, who instructed her to be there when Anna woke up.
Will walked in on Sami and EJ's near kiss and demanded to know what was going on.. Will wondered if Sami moved into the mansion for the kids or to be with EJ. Sami asked EJ for a moment alone with her son. Will asked if Sami loved Rafe or if she just wanted to have a guy around. Meanwhile, EJ filled Stefano in on what happened. Will asked if Sami had feelings for EJ. "Maybe I do," admitted Sami, noting she was "grateful" to EJ, but not "in love" with him. Will accused Sami of lying. Sami went on about how Will broke her heart when he decided to move into the mansion. She swore she was there because of him and not because she missed Rafe or loved EJ. Will warned Sami that EJ wasn't the answer. EJ returned and wanted to discuss what almost happened. Sami didn't, insisting there was nothing between them. Sami stormed off, as EJ smiled and said, "Yes there is."
Tuesday
Chloe and Carly exited their apartments at the same time. Carly tried to clear things up between them. Chloe said Carly didn't cover her tracks and wouldn't get away with it.
The sleazy motel manager was at the Cheatin' Heart thinking back to Chloe and Daniel confronting him about the lie he told Chloe and the big bucks he made telling it. He left and ran into Daniel, who demanded he tell him what was going on. The motel manager suggested Chloe made the whole thing up.
Baker and Nicole were stunned to come face-to-face at the poker hall. Nicole threatened to call the cops unless Baker told her what he was up to. She asked how Baker was still alive after Stefano's goons whacked him. Baker explained and flashed back to his "death." Namely, injecting himself with a drug; then, wrapping a rope around his neck. Baker wanted to go, but Nicole pulled out Brady's money clip and accused Baker of being involved in the muggings. Baker said Nicole couldn't prove a thing. Nicole pulled out her video camera, insisting Baker was going down. She didn't like him targeting Brady. Baker said he didn't pick the victims, she did, but wouldn't reveal who "she" is. Nicole said she was going to the cops and split.
At the hospital Vivian tracked down Victor to Maggie's room. Victor told her he and Maggie were in the middle of a conversation. Vivian got the message and left, as her phone rang. It was the motel manager recounting what went down with Daniel. "Dr. What's-his-name is starting to think his fiance's a little batty," he explained. Maggie noted that Vivian seemed peeved. Then, she thanked Victor for keeping her condition quiet. Victor said he had the back of people he admired. Chloe arrived and got a call from Daniel. He asked if they could meet at home instead of going out to dinner. "It's Carly, isn't it? She said something to you about me?" asked Chloe. Daniel swore it wasn't. Chloe hung up and muttered how Carly was poisoning Daniel against her. Vivian listened, phoned Gus, and told him to follow Chloe.
Brady was relaxing with Arianna, when Roman called and asked him to come to the station to go over his statement. Later, Roman, Brady and Arianna were discussing the muggings and branding found on Brady. It was a symbol of female empowerment. Roman said Hope was sure the attacker was a woman. Roman got a call and had to go. Arianna and Brady talked about the mugger. Arianna knew it wasn't Nicole, because she was with Gabi. "Nicole would never hurt me that way," contended Brady. "Because she loves you," retorted Arianna, noting how Nicole believed she had a chance with Brady. Brady assured Arianna he loved her with a kiss. Nicole arrived and watched, disgusted. After they left, Nicole got an idea.
Hope woke up as Ciara slept. Then, she headed off into the night. Hope happened upon Carly in the park. Carly was stunned when Hope said she knew they had issues, but she didn't hate her guts anymore. Hope swore she no longer blamed Carly for what happened with her hubby. The real blame lay with Bo. Hope left, and Daniel ran by. Carly told him about her run-in with Chloe and swore she wasn't trying to undermine their relationship. Daniel believed her. Chloe stood in the distance and listened; then, left. Gus followed. Daniel told Carly about Chloe's hysterical pregnancy and how Carly giving him a child crushed her. Daniel said he loved Chloe and would make this right. Gus told Vivian about Daniel admitting he didn't believe Chloe. Vivian was thrilled. Chloe phoned Philip from the pub and left a message that Carly had won. Vivian walked in and went off about her wedding plans being canceled by "that horrid, sadistic" Carly. Chloe admitted she loathed her, too. "I think, possibly, we could help each other. What do you think?" proposed Vivian.
Hope met up with Baker. He said he'd run into Nicole, who knew he was involved in the muggings and was probably telling the cops, now. Baker said they had to get out of Salem, pronto. "No one would ever believe that I would be involved in this," pointed out Hope, noting their partnership was over.
Brady and Arianna returned to the Kiriakis mansion, where they immediately started making out. Brady's phone rang, but he ignored it. Baker's phone rang, and it was Nicole. She said she'd
reconsidered and wouldn't turn him in on one condition: his next victim was Arianna!
Wednesday
Philip found Melanie packing some things for Maggie and tried to reassure her she'd be fine. Melanie noted how she came to Salem alone, but now had a mom, dad, Philip and Maggie, who she could totally trust. Philip flashed back to his romp with Chloe.
Daniel talked to Carly about his relationship with Chloe and how there was this amazing connection when they met. He blamed himself for being a jerk and messing it up. Carly insisted he'd get through this. Daniel's phone rang. It was Melanie. She explained Maggie was in the hospital and asked if he could check on her. Daniel hung up, filled Carly in, and left. Philip and Melanie arrived at the hospital. Melanie apologized for pulling her dad away from Chloe. Daniel said he wasn't with her. Melanie wondered if they'd had a fight and noted how worried Philip was about Chloe. He told her how Chloe thought she was pregnant, but wasn't. Daniel didn't realize Chloe and Philip were that close. Philip listened to Chloe's message, noting that Daniel believed Carly and not her.
Vivian and Chloe bonded over their Carly hatred. Vivian suggested they stop her and went on about Carly poisoning men against the women who really love them. Vivian suggested Carly was miserable and couldn't bear to see anyone else happy. Chloe came to her senses and said she shouldn't be talking to Vivian about this and started to go. Vivian stopped her and went off about Carly. Chloe finally had her fill and left. Later, Carly bumped into Vivian. They exchanged the usual barbs. Carly swore she'd be watching her nemesis. Gus arrived, and Vivian filled him in on the latest.
Philip met up with Chloe, who said Daniel thought she made everything up about the motel clerk. Chloe admitted she was consumed with guilt and had to level with Daniel. "Think about what that would do to Daniel," cautioned Philip, urging Chloe to keep quiet about their one night stand for the people they love. Philip returned to the hospital and kissed Melanie, saying he wanted her to know how much he loved her. Chloe returned home and found Daniel, who said they needed to talk. Chloe agreed, admitting she did "a terrible, terrible thing."
Arianna and Brady's lovemaking was interrupted by a text from Nicole. "That skank," spat Arianna, explaining Nicole went off following a news story and that it could cost her her job. Arianna took off. Brady chased after Arianna, urging her not to let Nicole keep yanking her chain.
Baker got a call from Nicole, who said she wouldn't turn him in, if his next victim was Arianna. Baker didn't think his partner would go for it. Hope overheard and told Baker to make sure no one knew who she was. She warned that Nicole needed to be contained. Baker left to meet Nicole. Hope followed, but got a call from Ciara and headed home. Nicole arrived and Baker told her his partner had a thing about men and wouldn't attack Arianna. Nicole said she'd changed her mind. She now wanted to frame Arianna for the attacks and Baker to plant evidence against her. Baker wondered why Nicole hated her. "She has something I want," hissed Nicole. Baker assumed it was man, but didn't think the plan would work. Nicole noted that either she and Brady headed into the sunset together or Baker ended up in prison.
Hope was back home with Ciara. She told the tyke to get under the covers, promising she'd be right back. Hope happened upon Arianna telling Brady she was tired of letting Nicole walk all over her and wanted to duke it out. Hope interrupted, noting she'd seen Nicole hurt people and didn't want Brady or Arianna added to the list. She told Arianna that Gabi giving Nicole an alibi sent her back to square one in the mugging case. Then, she headed back to Ciara. Arianna told Brady she just phoned work and wasn't going in. Brady moved in for some more loving. Hope told Ciara she'd been talking to Brady and Arianna. Ciara said she liked Arianna's boyfriend. Hope asked how things were going with that little boy in class. Ciara said he was mean to her and was now friends with Sadie. "The problem with people is that they can always let you down," sighed Hope.
Thursday
Daniel returned from the hospital and asked Chloe what she meant when she said she did "a terrible thing." Chloe admitted when she thought Daniel and Carly had sex she did something she regretted. Chloe mentioned seeing Daniel and Carly in the park talking about her. She wondered if he thought she made things up ever since her hysterical pregnancy. Daniel swore he didn't. Chloe suggested she might have heard what she wanted to hear from the motel clerk, because she hated Carly. Then, she admitted that Philip came over. Daniel insisted he knew the rest: Chloe confided in Philip about her pregnancy and Carly. Daniel wasn't mad she opened up to Philip; all he cared about was the two of them fixing things. Daniel got off the phone after making an appointment with a therapist. It was what he and Chloe needed.
Vivian couldn't find Victor and complained to Gus. Philip and Melanie were surprised to find Victor in Maggie's hospital room. Victor said he was there to take Maggie home. Philip took Victor off and warned him to stay away from Maggie. Victor refused, noting they didn't make women like her any more. Vivian entered and assumed they were talking about her. Philip set her straight. Vivian told Philip she knew Victor wanted him to be his best man and invited him and Melanie to dinner. Melanie and Maggie walked out, and Philip mentioned Vivian's invitation. Maggie told Vivian she was lucky to have a man like Victor. Later, Vivian told Victor she pushed up their wedding day. Maggie, Philip and Melanie returned home. Melanie brought up going to dinner with Victor and Vivian. Philip just couldn't see his dad going through with marrying Vivian.
EJ played with Johnny. Sami walked in and handed Johnny a present from Rafe: an FBI jacket. Johnny was thrilled. EJ was peeved. EJ thought Sami's ties to Rafe had been cut. Sami said Rafe kept his promises to her son and EJ would have to deal with Johnny loving him. Sami phoned Rafe to thank him. Rafe said he was under cover and quickly hung up. Sami was annoyed. She told EJ she thought Rafe wouldn't talk to her because he was still mad. EJ thought it was because Rafe still loved her. Then, he went on about what little boys wanted their fathers to be and it wasn't him. It was like Rafe. Sami said EJ didn't have to follow in Stefano's footsteps. She assured him he was a good father and no one could ever take his place in his kids' hearts.
Calliope told Rafe she didn't think she could go through with grilling Anna. Anna woke up with a hangover and thought back to her talk with Calliope and wondered what she told her. Anna made a call and muttered about taking care of something. Calliope asked if Rafe thought Sami was in danger. Rafe didn't think Anna was a threat to her. "So you think it's the person who hired Anna who is dangerous?" she asked. Rafe said he needed Calliope to help keep Sami and her family safe. Calliope agreed to continue. Anna told Calliope she said some things she wish she hadn't, yesterday. Calliope steered the conversation around Sydney. Anna admitted kidnapping her wasn't her idea. Then, she suggested she and Calliope travel the world together, since they'd lost Tony and Eugene. Calliope said she couldn't. She was hiding from the IRS. Anna offered to pay her debt. A guilty Calliope cracked, noting it wasn't fate that brought them together. Anna hugged Calliope and discovered her wire.
Madeline discussed sending Chad off to camp in Vermont before he started college. Charles was confused. Madeline was the one who demanded he return to Salem. Madeline admitted she wanted to stop Chad from hanging around the DiMeras, noting he was friends with Will, whose grandmother is married to Stefano. Charles didn't like the idea of Chad hanging out at the mobster's mansion either, but thought Chad should spend the summer in Salem.
Mia happened upon Chad telling T he'd been accepted to Wake Forest. Mia doubted she'd still be around Salem, next year. She was thinking about moving to New York to study dance. Chad thought he knew what this was really about. When T left, Chad suggested Mia was running away. Mia admitted she wanted to be gone. She wondered if Chad would forget Grace, when he left town. Chad swore he wouldn't. Madeline met up with Chad. He told her he didn't want to go to Wake Forest. He wanted to stay in Salem.
Friday
Brady and Arianna set their wedding date; then, discussed their honeymoon. Nicole overheard was annoyed. She phoned Baker and said it was time to move on their plan. Baker asked how Nicole was going to frame Arianna. "You leave that to me," retorted Nicole. Brady crept up behind her. Nicole said she was talking to a source. Arianna approached. Nicole noted they had work to do before tonight's show. Brady and Arianna smooched goodbye. Nicole stewed.
Sami told EJ her children adored him. Will interrupted and called EJ "barely tolerable." Sami scolded Will. He left, ran into Kate, and gave her back her photo. "How come you never told me you knew Chad's mom?" he asked. Sami admitted being a lousy parent. EJ assured Sami was a wonderful mother, pointing out the sacrifice she made moving in there. Sami admitted the DiMera manse wasn't so bad. EJ couldn't believe their domestic bliss. Alone, Sami thought back to the ring Rafe gave her with the birth stones of her kids. EJ returned, just as Sami was removing it. Stefano walked in and asked if anything was wrong. Sami assured all was fine and left. Stefano told EJ his wiles were working magic, reminding that one word from him and EJ and Sami were finished. Stefano begrudgingly conceded that Sami was part of their family. Johnny ran in wearing his FBI jacket. Stefano explode and sent him to change. EJ warned Stefano not to tell his son what to do.
Madeline tried to convince Chad to go to Wake Forest. Chad Chad said he could play ball at Salem U. Madeline was appalled her son was choosing a college based on a sport. She accused Chad of changing his mind because of his friends. Madeline didn't want him around Will's family. Chad thought his mom would be happy he was staying in Salem, but it felt like she couldn't wait to get rid of him.
Later, at the Java Café, Will pressed Kate to answer his question about Madeline. Kate claimed they went around in the same social circles, but hardly knew each other. Sami arrived. Kate invited her to join them and left mother and son alone. Kate ran into Madeline and Chad. The ladies went off to talk. Will didn't want to talk to Sami. Sami said she knew Will was upset Rafe was gone and so was she. It didn't seem that way to Will, since he almost caught Sami kissing EJ twice. Sami denied it. "I hate you," spat Will, spying Chad arriving and quickly leaving Sami. Brady arrived and asked Sami what was wrong. Sami noted Brady's tension and assumed he'd seen Nicole. Brady noted he and Arianna set a wedding date. Sami was thrilled. She told Brady she had a spat with Will and asked if Arianna had heard from Rafe. She mentioned calling Rafe and him hanging up on her. Sami admitted she felt vulnerable living with EJ. "Are you telling me you still have feelings for that guy?" asked Brady.
Anna was shocked to discover Calliope wearing a wire. She ran to her hotel room and started to pack. "Leaving paradise so soon?" interrupted Rafe, as a handcuffed Calliope arrived. Rafe announced they'd both go free if Anna gave him what he needed. Whoever kidnapped Sydney should suffer, not Anna. He urged Anna to talk or she'd be going to prison.
Nicole and Arianna went back and forth about Brady. Arianna wondered how they could work together like this. Nicole suggested having a drink. Arianna's phone rang. It was Baker, claiming he had a news tip. Arianna went to talk. Nicole took Arianna's brush and got a sample of her hair from it. "Exhibit A," purred Nicole. Then, she poured Arianna's wine out and took her glass. Arianna returned and asked, "What are you doing?"
On the pier Madeline told Kate that Chad was asking questions, because Kate didn't destroy their old photo. She instructed Kate to lie, to spare her and Charles's impeccable reputation. The twosome exchanged barbs. Madeline couldn't believe Stefano gave Kate the time of day, let alone married the whore. "It would take one to know one, wouldn't it, Maddie?" retorted Kate. Madeline huffed off.
Stefano was on the phone telling someone to get back to him when he had information. He told EJ Anna missed her check-in. Meanwhile, Anna told Rafe Benny was her accomplice. Rafe didn't buy it, demanding to know who Anna was working for.
