Days Of Our Lives Recaps
DAYS Week of March 7, 2011
Monday
At the Salem Inn, Melanie lost her balance. Nathan caught her. She assured him she was fine, but then she doubled over in pain. He picked her up and brought her to the hospital.... Carly returned to Salem from her medical conference and headed straight to Daniel's. She was upset to hear about Melanie's miscarriage. Maxine called Daniel to tell him that Melanie was back in the hospital. He and Carly rushed over.
Nathan checked Melanie's vitals. She said she was fine. He declared his love and revealed he wanted to take care of her forever. Before she could reply, Daniel and Carly hurried in. Melanie insisted she was okay, but asked her mom to stay to talk to her. Melanie explained that the miscarriage gave her insight into Carly's plight and that she understood why her mom gave her up. "I forgive you," she said. Carly wept and thanked her daughter. The conversation turned to Nathan. Outside of the room, Daniel calmed an overeager Nathan. Nate asked to speak somewhere privately. Nathan told Daniel he wanted to marry Melanie.
Nicole called Brady. "What can I do for you, Mrs. DiMera?" a snarky Brady asked. Nicole wanted to know if his job offer to Taylor was about Taylor or Nicole. He laughed at her and told her to get over herself. "I offered Taylor a job because she's capable," he insisted, adding that she was honest, too. He then hung up on Nicole.
Taylor got ready to leave the DiMera mansion and opened the door to EJ. There was tension. Nicole came downstairs and told Taylor she had spoken to Brady about the job offer. What job offer, EJ asked. Nicole told him that Taylor might be working at Titan. He didn't think that was a good idea and explained that beyond the Nicole/Brady connection, Brady's family didn't like the DiMeras and it wasn't good for EJ. Taylor stormed out. Nicole chided EJ for being so mean to her sis and asked what was going on between them. Before Nicole could get answers, Sydney called out to her and interrupted their talk. Nicole returned with the toddler and assured EJ that Taylor would grow to like him.... Taylor went to the Kiriakis manse to tell Brady she wanted the job.
Sami asked "Rafe" to make love to her the way that he used to. He didn't know what she meant and got angry. She left the bedroom. He came out to talk to her and asked if she was afraid of him. She admitted she was afraid of their future because everything was different. "You can't help being who you are now. It's not like I blame you," she said. He calmed down and said he was sorry that things were the way they were. He asked her to teach him all the little things they used to do together. "I want to be the man that you remember," he said, then kissed her. They went to the bedroom, where she showed him how they used to make love. After their unsatisfying romp, Sami took the safe house key out of her drawer and cried.
Rafe woke up in the cell, disoriented. He asked what was going on. Stefano realized that he shouldn't have told Rafe about the memory-erasing drug because now he didn't know if Rafe was faking it or not. Stefano tested him, even going so far as to pull a gun on him. Rafe insisted he had no idea who Stefano was. Satisfied, Stefano exited. He reported to EJ that their plan was a success..
Tuesday
Kate was happy to run into Chad on the pier. Over coffee at the Brady Pub, she urged him to reach out to Stefano and try and be a part of the family. Chad noted that he needed to take his time and was already bonding with Lexie and EJ. They sat at the Brady Pub. Kate told Chad that Stefano had type II diabetes and that he was seriously ill. "If you're ever going to reach out to your father, the time is now," Kate said.
Abigail reported into Jen that Jack hadn't checked or updated his blog. Jennifer wasn't surprised. She got ready to leave for the hospital. Abby asked if "Dr. Hunk" was going to be there and suggested Dan give Jennifer a "thorough examination." Jen said she wasn't thinking of Daniel that way and was actually trying to hook Dan and Carly up. After Jen left, Will stopped by with Gabi and introduced the girls. Gabi invited Abby to hang out. Abby told them about the guy she met that was tall, sexy and a jerk. She described him further, adding that the guy had a kid. They didn't know who it was. The group headed to Java. Chad entered; Abby pointed him out as the jerk. "Chad?" they said in unison.
Daniel wouldn't give Nathan his blessing to marry Melanie. Nate was shocked, saying he loved Mel and she loved him. Daniel didn't think it was the time for her to be making big decisions and told Nathan to give her some space. Nathan felt they had waited long enough and didn't want to wait any longer.
In Melanie's hospital room, Carly suggested Melanie wait before making any decisions about her future with Nathan. Melanie insisted she was ready to talk to him. Carly texted Nathan and asked him to visit Mel. Once in Melanie's room, a nervous Nathan declared his love and told her he wanted her to be part of his life forever. An emotional Melanie was silent. He then proposed. "I can't," she wept. He got uncomfortable and told her to forget what he said. She admitted that she had been thinking about them getting married, but couldn't because Nathan was as much the wrong choice for her as Philip was. She said she didn't want to be harsh, but explained that the miscarriage changed her. "I have to think about myself," she cried. "No more jumping into things." A shaken Nathan stormed out.
EJ ran into Taylor at the Java Caf. He noticed that she was looking at apartment listings. She told him that she took the job with Brady. He reminded her that it wasn't a good idea and Brady was just using her to get to EJ. She snapped that it wasn't the case. "Brady can't use me because I won't let him," she declared and turned to leave. He grabbed her. They had a moment while their hands touched. She hurried off, but left her scarf behind. He sniffed it on the pier.
Hope brought Bo lunch at the station. He knew something was up with her and assured her she'd find a way to fill her spare time. She confessed that she was totally bored.
Carly stopped by the station to drop off a report. She ran into Bo. He offered condolences about Melanie's miscarriage. "She's a survivor," Bo noted. "Takes after her mother," said Hope, who entered the room. Bo had to take care of something, so he excused himself. Carly and Hope made awkward chat, but Hope did say she was sorry to hear about Melanie's loss. Carly thanked her, then said that Bo did the right thing by leaving her and being with Hope. "I think I knew it was gonna happen," Carly confessed. Hope was impressed by Carly's declaration. She asked how Carly was doing. Dr. M said she was just focusing on her family, then left. Bo came back. Hope told him about the conversation. He hugged her. She overheard him discussing a case with another cop and offered to help out. He said okay. She gave him a good lead, then left.
Jen arrived at the hospital and chatted with Daniel about Carly. Carly came in, visibly upset. She told Jen about her run-in with the Bradys. Jen comforted her pal.
Wednesday
On the pier, EJ fantasized about kissing Taylor. He went to the hospital to talk to Lexie. He wanted her to get Taylor a job working at a hospital out of town. Lexie wondered why he wanted Taylor to leave Salem and pressed him to admit he had feelings for her. He said it was driving him absolutely insane. She talked things out with him and wondered if Taylor was his new obsession, his "new Sami." He insisted she wasn't. Lexie assured him that Taylor was over him, anyway, now that she knows he's Nicole's hubby.
Nicole called Taylor and summoned her back to the mansion. She arrived and was surprised to see their mother, Fay. Fay revealed that she couldn't come to Nicole's wedding the day before because she was in the hospital. She added that she was very ill with a heart ailment and nothing further could be done for her. Nicole said they would get the best doctors and that Fay wouldn't die. Nicole offered the mansion's guest house for Fay to live in and suggested Taylor move in with her. No way, declared Taylor, who said she would find them an apartment. Nicole insisted they move in to the manse.... EJ returned home. Nicole told him how Fay was ill and how she asked her mom to move into the guest house. "Taylor is moving in, too," Nicole added.
Brady took care of business at the mansion. Victor entered and heard his grandson speaking gruffly on the phone. Victor observed that Brady's plans seemed to be falling apart and vowed that he would reclaim the company. "The company is mine; deal with it," Brady retorted.
Jennifer worked on her computer and told Maggie that Jack was blogging again and was in India. Maggie was sorry Jen was so sad. Jen admitted she was upset that she wouldn't have the marriage Mickey and Maggie did. Maggie pointed out that no marriage was perfect. "Maybe struggling is what makes you soul mates," Maggie observed. Jen noted that Jack had left her mentally before he did physically. Jen then called him and left a message about what had been going on with her. "You hurt my heart," she cried into the phone. "More than the person who cut at it with a knife."
Maggie headed to the Kiriakis mansion and interrupted a fight between Brady and Victor. Brady stormed out. Maggie encouraged Victor to work things out with his grandson. "Butt out," Vic told her in the nicest way possible. She asked why. He replied it was none of her business. She said she couldn't help but get involved with the people she loved.
Abby was surprised that Will and Gabi knew Chad, who she thought was a jerk. She asked about his kid, but they told her he didn't have one. Chad overheard her calling him a jerk and approached the table. Will introduced Chad to his cousin, Abigail. An embarrassed Abby apologized for judging him when she saw him with Johnny. Will and Gabi took off to help Caroline at the Pub, leaving Abby and Chad behind. During their chat, he confessed that he got a girl pregnant in high school but the baby died. She was sorry. Tad came in and Chad introduced him to Abby. Tad asked if it was true that Chad was best man in EJ's wedding because he was Stefano's son. "What?" Abby asked. Tad wanted the full story from his pal about his new family connections. Abigail suddenly excused herself. Chad didn't understand why. "You're a DiMera," she explained, then left.
At the Pub, Gabi worried that she lost an earring and was relieved when Will found it. She took them off and put them in her purse. A stranger watched them from outside. He entered the pub and swiped the earrings when Gabi and Will left the room. When they returned, Gabi realized her earrings were gone and panicked. On the pier, the thief eyed them and realized they were worth money.
Thursday
Victor asked Maggie to clarify what she meant when she said she sticks up for people she loves. She covered that she was referring to Brady and Chloe and Parker, but he pressed her to reveal who she really loved. "Brady, Philip and Parker," she insisted. He needled her, which drove her insane. She admitted to caring for his family — and him. He was pleased to hear it. He asked her what she was afraid of when it came to him. "That you'll break my heart. Or that I'll break yours. I'm not about to let that happen," she revealed. She went to leave. He grabbed her and kissed her. After, he showed her out, though she was very shaken from their buss.
Chloe and Philip had coffee at Java. He vowed that he would always be there for her and Parker. He then revealed that he and Melanie were through. She was sorry to hear it. They headed back to the manse and found a rattled Maggie outside. Philip entered the house and found a contemplative Vic; Chloe asked Maggie if she was okay. "I don't know how to answer that," Maggie replied.
Justin and Adrienne kissed at a table at the Brady Pub. Hope served them their lunch, explaining she was helping out Caroline. She said she was pleased to see the two of them had reunited. They revealed they were trying to get their boys together in Salem to let them know. After, the couple headed to the pier. Justin surprised her with a ring — and a proposal. "Adrienne, will you marry me for a third time?" he asked, adding that he had the ring engraved with "a new beginning." She tearfully told him she wanted to be his wife more than anything in the world.
"Rafe" called Bo to say he was ready to go back to work. He played with his gun; Sami noted that he should make sure the gun was not in Johnny's reach. He made a crack about her shooting EJ. She was not amused and lit into him for joking about it. He tried to soothe her with a kiss, but she wasn't interested and stormed out.
Sami arrived at the Brady Pub and was thrilled to see Hope. The women caught up and sat down to talk. Hope asked her niece if something was wrong. "When isn't there something wrong?" Sami mused, then filled Hope in about the problems with Rafe. "I don't have the same feelings for him anymore," she confessed. Hope tried to talk her through things and urged Sami to be Rafe's rock because he needed her now.
EJ didn't react well to Nicole's news that Taylor and Fay were moving in. Nicole reminded him that the house was big and nobody would be underfoot. EJ and Taylor exchanged uneasy glances; Nicole demanded to know what the problem was. EJ relented and said Taylor could stay. A relieved Nicole assured him he wouldn't regret it. She took Sydney and Johnny's to the loft. "Rafe" was happy to see Nicole. He told the kids that he installed a new video game and they should go play it. Once alone with Nicole, "Rafe" offered her a drink. Nicole was suspicious. He said he just wanted to bury the hatchet with her. They had a beer and Rafe regaled her with stories. Nicole realized they were having a good time and wondered what happened to the real Rafe.
At the manse, Taylor and EJ got into it. He told her how Lexie said Taylor was over him. She scoffed at that, insisting she could control her physical attraction to him. They bantered a bit, then he leaned in for a kiss.
Stefano visited Rafe, who was confused about why he was being imprisoned. "Rafe" reported in to The Phoenix to say he was rejoining the force. Stefano warned him not to screw it up and to do everything by the book at first. Two orderlies came in and drugged Rafe. They zapped his brain, but there was a malfunction...
Friday
At Java, Gabi told Will she didn't think they would find the person who stole her earrings from her purse, especially since the Pub didn't have surveillance equipment. Will suggested they monitor jewelry sales online since the perp would likely unload them. Sami arrived to pick up coffee and talked to Will and Gabi about her concerns about Rafe. "You think he's different than he was," Gabi noted, and then admitted she did, too, at first. She urged Sami to be patient and went to fetch coffee. Will asked Sami if she worried about leaving Johnny and Sydney alone with Rafe, considering she sent Allie to be with Lucas. Sami insisted she trusted Rafe and headed back to the loft.
At a pawnshop, the thief tried to unload Gabi's earrings, but only got $100 for them. He was annoyed to get so little.... Kinsey entered the Java Caf wearing Gabi's earrings. Gabi flipped out on her.
On the pier, Kate confronted Sami and asked if she was worried about Rafe being around the children. Stefano interrupted and reprimanded Kate. "She is dealing with a difficult situation, maybe it is wise of us not to second guess her," Stefano pointed out. Kate protested when Stefano apologized for her behavior and insisted it was her right to look out for their grandchildren. Sami cut her interaction with them short and walked off. "You are up to something," Kate told Stefano, "and I want to know what it is." Stefano insisted there was nothing going on and that he took Sami's side because Elvis wanted them to have a better relationship. Kate still didn't believe him and vowed to discover what was really happening.
Vivian pondered how to make Stefano her ally and realized she needed to first turn him against Kate. Gus had doubts it would work. "I can handle Kate Roberts DiMera," Kate insisted. "She'll never know what hit her." Vivian told Gus about her plan to figure out what was going on with Stefano.
At the loft, Nicole worried that "Rafe" was setting her up, but slowly relaxed around him. Nicole realized she liked the new, fun version. "Rafe" complained about Sami's treatment of him. "Being watched all the time gets old," he whined. After Nicole left, Johnny told "Rafe" about a kid at school who was bothering him. "He called me Clops ... I hate him," Johnny lamented. "Me too," replied "Rafe," who proceeded to teach Johnny to fight to protect himself from Reed the troublemaker. Johnny was confused because Rafe had told him in the past that fighting was wrong. "Rafe" said that was before Reed came into the picture. After, Johnny and Sydney had sundaes. "Rafe's" phone rang — it was Stefano. He revealed he had run into Sami, who didn't seem upset, as he wanted her to be. "Rafe" assured The Phoenix he was working on it.... Johnny asked "Rafe" if he should try to talk to Reed before he hit him. No, said Rafe. "If he gives you any more grief, you smash his face. You beat the crap out of him," "Rafe" recommended. Sami entered and was stunned to hear his advice.
In the dungeon jail, the men in the white coats checked Rafe's brain scan. "Looks as empty as the dark side of the moon," one noted. He called Stefano to report that Rafe's memory was completely wiped out. A lurky Gus overheard Stefano's side of the conversation and reported in to Viv. "Something's going on and it involves Rafe Hernandez," Gus revealed. Viv ordered him to stay on it.
EJ pulled Taylor in for a kiss and she resisted. "We're brother and sister in-law," she protested. When EJ made another move, Taylor slapped him. "Conventional wisdom is it's not a very good idea to slap a DiMera," EJ responded, rubbing his cheek. "Is this all one-sided? Am I forcing myself on you?" he wondered. Taylor admitted it wasn't one-sided. Nicole entered and picked up on the tension in the room. Taylor covered that they were talking about Fay, and then said there was no way she could move into the mansion. Nicole didn't understand what the problem was. EJ explained that Taylor didn't approve of what went on in the household because the DiMeras weren't on the up-and-up. Nicole suspected there was more and passionately implored her sister to reconsider. Taylor reluctantly agreed to move in.
