Monday
Hope went to see Melanie to discuss Carly. She explained Carly was defending Melanie when she shot her. Melanie pointed out that Carly was sleeping with Bo. Hope wasn't there to discuss that and continued trying to convince Melanie that Carly wasn't trying to hurt her. Melanie wouldn't budge.
Bo ran into Carly on the pier. Carly insisted she wanted to protect Melanie by going to jail; that way Vivian would leave her alone. Bo insisted there was someone who could get Melanie to drop the charges against Carly: Hope. Carly was surprised, but knew Hope had a good heart. That's why Bo loved her so much. Bo tried to interrupt, finally planting a kiss on Carly. He swore Carly was the woman he wanted and needed. He didn't want her to go to prison. Besides, that would be abandoning Melanie again. Hope interrupted, noting things didn't go well with Melanie. She was determined to punish Carly. Bo got a call and left for the station. Alone, Carly said she was going to plead guilty. Going to prison would be the best thing. Hope and Bo could find their way back to each other. Hope told Carly to take her patronizing offer and "go straight to hell."
Caroline was surprised when Max walked into the pub. She told him all about Melanie's new mom, Carly. Max explained he was on his way to a medical conference and only had a few hours in town. Caroline urged him to go see Melanie. Max arrived at Melanie's hospital room and they embraced. After some small talk, Melanie asked if Max heard about Daniel being her dad. Melanie noted they were both raised by Trent, so they were still brother and sister. Max agreed. The conversation turned to Carly. Max wanted to weigh in. Melanie didn't want him taking Carly's side. "So you're going to let your mother go to prison?" asked Max, warning Melanie would be the one who'd suffer most if she did.
Lois snapped a picture of Nicole scrubbing the prison floor with a toothbrush, cracking it would be her new wallpaper. "I swear, some day, I'm going to take this toothbrush and ..." snapped Nicole. "Watch it sweet pea," retorted Lois. Nicole thought back to the woman who snatched Sydney calling her sweet pea. She tried to place the voice, but couldn't. She looked down at Lois's boots; then, flashed back to the boots on the woman who took Sydney. Nicole looked up and saw Anna. Nicole wondered if Anna could have been the kidnapper.
Sami was distraught about Rafe. EJ tried to probe. Sami noted Rafe was close to finding Sydney's kidnapper. He had a lead. Rafe and Clark burst into the cabin where Anna had been hiding Sydney, but no one was there. Rafe phoned Sami and asked her, EJ and Sydney to meet him there. The trio arrived. EJ downplayed Rafe's discovery, noting there wasn't any evidence Sydney had been there. He suggested Rafe brought Sami and EJ there to torment them. Rafe let him have it. Clark arrived with the caretaker from down the road. Rafe asked if he'd seen something or someone. He swore he never saw anyone coming or leaving the place. EJ said Rafe was grasping at straws and suggested they just be happy Sydney was back. They all left. Rafe, Sami and Sydney arrived at her townhouse. Rafe wanted to go back to his office to work. Sami wanted to bond as a family. Bond they did, but Rafe remained determined to bring the person who took Sydney to justice.
Anna boarded a plane and thought about Sydney. She looked for the tyke's picture, fearing she'd left it behind. Anna vowed if she was going down, so was EJ. Anna wondered why the plane wasn't taking off. The pilot announced there were mechanical problems. Anna phoned EJ and explained her flight was delayed. EJ spat she had to get out of the country, noting Rafe found the cabin. Anna worried Rafe might find something that incriminated them. EJ heard the announcement that Anna's plane was about to take off and was delighted. "Please give my little sweet pea a kiss," said Anna. EJ hung up certain he'd dodged another bullet. Meanwhile, Nicole wondered if Anna could have been the one who took Sydney. Suddenly, she remembered Anna saying sweet pea when she packed to leave the mansion and realized Anna took Sydney!
Tuesday
Daniel interrupted Max and Melanie's reunion and announced she could be released. After Daniel left, Max asked how things were between Melanie and her new dad. When it came time for Max to leave, he urged Melanie to accept the situation with her new parents. She needed them. Max left, and Daniel returned. Melanie thanked him for saving her life and asked that they never talk about Carly again. The duo went back and forth about Carly. Melanie wanted her, Philip, Daniel and Chloe to go out together. She wanted to know all about her new dad to help figure out who she was. Daniel was pleased; then, left to tend to work. When he returned, Melanie was dressed. Daniel noted he'd gotten a call and that Carly was pleading guilty. "No!" retorted Melanie. Daniel noted Melanie was the only one who could help Carly.
Nicole came to the revelation that Anna swiped Sydney. She yelled to Lois that she needed a phone. Meanwhile, Anna sat on a plane and awaited takeoff, when her phone rang. She was stunned to hear Nicole's voice. Nicole asked Anna to come and see her. "Why would I do that?" asked Anna. Nicole said they both knew why. Anna said she wasn't coming and hung up. Nicole knew she'd be there. Lois took Nicole to the visitors' area. Nicole told her mother she finally had hope and had a feeling things were turning around for her. Fay urged Nicole to face reality. Nicole told Fay to leave and promised she'd never hear from her again. Soon, Anna arrived. Nicole confronted her about stealing Sydney.
Bo told Philip about Carly's decision to plead guilty to shooting Melanie. Philip was pleased. Having Carly out of Melanie's life was the best thing for her. Max interrupted. Philip walked off. Bo filled Max in on the latest with him, Hope and Carly. Bo got a call and had to go. He hugged Max and told him to tell Chelsea to come home for a visit. Philip returned and wanted to talk. Max wasn't exactly warm. He didn't trust Philip to take care of his sister. Philip swore he loved Melanie and was good for her. Max warned him not to hurt her.
Steph and Nathan headed to the Java Café to talk. Steph told Nathan about Melanie's letter. She didn't give it to him, because he didn't want to discuss Melanie. Nathan wanted to know exactly what was in this letter. Steph lied, saying she didn't read it and that she told Melanie Nathan didn't want to read it. Nathan flipped and stormed off. Steph found Max on the pier. He sensed something was wrong. Steph said she was glad Melanie and Philip were married, since she'd found someone else. Steph admitted they were having problems, but vowed to fix things.
Hope and Carly were spatting on the pier, when Justin showed up. Carly announced she was pleading guilty and asked for a moment alone with Hope. Carly apologized to Hope and thanked her for pleading her case to Melanie. Hope noted that Carly going to jail to protect Melanie from Vivian didn't make sense. Carly insisted things had to be this way. Hope left, and Justin returned. He said Carly didn't have to plead guilty. Carly wouldn't budge on her decision.
Vivian was at the cemetery for the unveiling of Lawrence's tombstone. Alone with the stone, Vivian promised she'd avenge Lawrence's death. Vivian saw Hope wandering by. Hope explained she was visiting Zack's grave. Vivian tried to compare Lawrence's untimely death to Hope's son's. Hope stopped her in her tracks. Vivian went off about Carly. Hope announced Carly was pleading guilty. Vivian was overjoyed.
Justin was with DA Woods, who announced he was glad the shooting was coming to a swift resolution. Bo walked up and said it wasn't. Carly walked up and insisted she'd made up her mind. Bo and Carly argued back and forth. Carly wanted to pay for her mistakes and implored Bo to let her. The hearing got underway. Carly stood and announced she was changing her plea to guilty. Woods recommended the maximum sentence. Carly prepared to hear it. Meanwhile, Nathan and Philip arrived in Daniel's office looking for Melanie, who'd left the hospital. As the judge began to announce Carly's sentence, Melanie burst into the courtroom.
Wednesday
"You bitch. You stole my daughter," spat Nicole. Anna noted Sydney was EJ and Sami's child and Nicole was the only baby stealer there. Anna prepared to leave. Nicole threatened to call Roman. Anna said Roman would want proof and a motive. Nicole suggested stealing Sydney was Anna's way of getting revenge after Tony's sudden death. Anna admitted hating Nicole and the whole DiMera family, but swore she'd moved on. Nicole pointed out all it took was a phone call to get Anna there. Why would that work unless Anna was guilty? She didn't buy Anna's story that she was with Carrie the last few months or traveling. Nicole vowed she'd call Roman; then, Rafe, who'd get to the bottom of this. Finally, Anna asked what Nicole wanted.
Mia walked into the Java Cafe, locked eyes with Chad, and flashed back to their kiss. Gabi asked if something was wrong. Will was happy to see Mia wearing his necklace and that they were exclusive. Chad told Gabi he didn't think it was fair for them to be going out. Gabi realized he wasn't over Mia. Will had to leave after getting a call from Kate. Mia approached Chad, who said he'd broken up with Gabi. "It's kind of bogus to keep seeing her when all I can think about is kissing you," admitted Chad. Mia said she'd thought about it, too. Chad asked Mia out. She accepted, but said no one could know. Later, Mia and Chad were on the pier kissing, when Mia's necklace slipped off. Mia stopped things. She didn't want anyone seeing them. Mia left to pick up her paycheck at the coffeehouse and suggested Chad meet her there. Chad spotted the fallen necklace and picked it up, when Gabi arrived. Gabi needed Kinsey's contact information, which she had lost. Chad gave it to her and left. Gabi noticed the necklace on the bench and called out to Chad, but he was gone.
EJ got a call from Sami, saying she wasn't coming home yet. EJ told Sydney he'd make Sami fall in love with him, then break her heart. Stefano told Kate what was going on with Sami and EJ. (He had spies watching them.) Kate thought she had a way to arrange for Stefano to see Sydney. She phoned Will, noted she'd bought him and his sister some things, and knew he was the only one who could convince Sami to accept them. Kate hung up and reported to Stefano. Will arrived home, and EJ told him Sami was at the park and he was babysitting. EJ got a call from Harold, who was standing beside Stefano, summoning him to an emergency meeting. EJ took off. Stefano thanked Harold; then, he and Kate headed out. Kate arrived at Sami's and gave Will his gifts. Stefano followed. Will noted Sami and EJ didn't want Stefano around. Stefano pleaded with Will to let him visit with his beloved Sydney. Will agreed to let Stefano stay for a while. Later, Kate and Will were at the Java Café. Will said Sami would ground him if she found out he'd let Stefano see Sydney. Kate assured Sami wouldn't find out because Stefano was having her watched. If Sami left the park, Will could rush home and get there before her. EJ happened by and spied Kate and Will together. He raced back to Sami's, where he found Stefano with Sydney and exploded. Later, Will was walking through the park and spied Gabi holding Mia's necklace. "Where did you get that?" he asked. "Chad had it," retorted Gabi.
Melanie burst into Carly's hearing and explained about being Carly's daughter and how Dr. M had kept it from her. Bo had a momentary outburst. The judge silenced him. Melanie continued her story, noting that Carly didn't mean to shoot her; it was an accident. Melanie admitted that when she gave her first statement, she was hurt and wanted to get back at Carly for giving her away. She recounted what happened on the roof with Vivian, insisting Carly wasn't guilty. The judge had the bailiff escort everyone out, but Justin and DA Woods. Then, he had everyone return and ruled Melanie's shooting was accidental. Bo wanted to celebrate, but got a call and had to run. Carly thanked Melanie and reached out for her. "Don't touch me," snapped Melanie.
Thursday
Vivian arrived at the Kiriakis mansion and handed Henderson a bottle of bubbly. Victor wondered what she was celebrating. Vivian noted that Carly was being taken into custody as they spoke, and was excited when Victor announced he was hosting a fundraising dinner. Victor said wasn't on the guest list, pointing out that she tried to kill his daughter-in-law. He hoped Philip and Melanie would move into the mansion, but knew they wouldn't as long as Vivian was there. Vivian insisted she was going to the party and went off to get ready.
Kate was on the phone chatting with Stefano when she entered the pub and joined Philip. He got a call from Justin, reporting that Carly had been freed. Philip left and Kate couldn't wait to share the news with Vivian. She tracked Vivian down and dropped the bomb that all the charges had been dropped against Carly. "That's not possible!" gasped Vivian. Kate also revealed that Melanie was the one who exonerated her. Vivian was stunned.
At the courthouse, Melanie told Carly not to touch her. She stepped up to keep Carly out of prison because it was the right thing to do, but wanted nothing to do with her. Carly went on about wanting to be in Melanie's life. "You can't," snapped Melanie, insisting she only came there because Daniel asked her to. Philip interrupted and he and Melanie discussed why she hadn't told him she was going to testify. He vowed never to let anyone hurt Melanie again. Later, Philip told Melanie to keep her eyes closed and led her to Maggie's house. Melanie asked if this was the place he'd put the bid on. Philip noted he'd put that on hold. Melanie opened her eyes and was delighted. Philip said they were there to help Maggie, and the couple smooched. Maggie walked in. Philip left, and Melanie told Maggie all about what happened with Carly. Maggie urged Melanie to try to make amends with her mother. Melanie wasn't interested.
Daniel told Chloe that Melanie had been released from the hospital and went to the courthouse to clear Carly at his urging. Chloe was annoyed. Daniel thought Chloe was upset because he had a daughter by Carly and she wasn't able to conceive, and hoped she was dealing with that with Dr. Gilbert. Daniel got a call and left when Carly arrived. Chloe wanted to talk, but Carly begged off. She was there to get reinstated on staff. Chloe didn't think that was a good idea. Daniel returned, saying he'd handle things. After Chloe left, Carly thanked Daniel for convincing Melanie to speak on her behalf. She knew the only way she'd have a connection to Melanie was through Daniel. Daniel vowed to protect Melanie, but said he couldn't help Carly.
Nicole told Anna she wanted her to get her out of the slammer. "You want me to bust you out of this joint?" gasped Anna. Nope. Nicole wanted Anna to get her out legally, noting she had clout. She'd read that Anna's old boyfriend, Governor Ford was visiting Salem. Anna said she hadn't seen Jim in ages. Nicole suggested they catch up and arrange her pardon. Aghast, Anna refused to do it. Nicole threatened to talk to EJ and tell him she knew who took Sydney. She also threatened to call Stefano, Sami and Rafe. Anna was at her wits end. Nicole told her she had 24 hours to arrange her pardon. Anna left and placed a call to the governor. She learned about the fund raiser at Victor's. Later, Anna arrived at the Kiriakis mansion. Victor answered and wasn't very receptive. He cracked that he'd told Henderson to take the trash all the way to the curb.
Chloe and Philip met at the Java Café. Chloe admitted she hadn't told Daniel she wasn't seeing the therapist and wasn't going to. Daniel walked in and overheard; then, slipped back outside. Philip said he was staying out of it and left. He passed Daniel and told him he and Melanie were now living with Maggie. Daniel returned and Chloe sensed something was wrong. "Why have you been lying to me?" asked Daniel.
Kate met Carly on the pier and congratulated her on being cleared. She warned Carly that Vivian knew she was free and cautioned her to watch her back. After Kate left, Vivian appeared on cue. She noted Carly hadn't lived up to her part of their deal and wondered what to do about that.
Friday
Daniel and Chloe discussed her not going to see Dr. Gilbert and lying about it. Chloe got defensive. Daniel told her they had problems and needed therapy. He suggested seeing the doctor together.
Lois handed Nicole her cell phone. Nicole started to make a call, but stopped, wondering what she was going to say to make "him" understand. Later, Lois told Nicole she had a visitor. It was Chloe, whining about how Daniel wanted them to see a shrink together and ranting about Carly. "She's just using him the same way she used Bo, and I don't want to end up like Hope," lamented Chloe. Nicole pointed out that Daniel was crazy about Chloe. She said that Chloe would have to do what every woman did to keep a relationship alive: fool him. No matter how Chloe felt, she had to convince Daniel she was strong and willing to do anything to make their relationship work. Chloe thanked her jailbird pal. Nicole said she didn't think she'd be in jail much longer.
Victor probed Anna as to why she was really at the mansion. Governor Ford arrived and Victor let him in. "Anna Fredericks!" gasped Ford. "What a coincidence," responded Anna. Anna's phone rang, and it was Nicole. Anna told Nicole she was keeping her from talking to the governor and hung up. The governor urged Victor to leave him and Anna alone; then, asked why Anna tracked him down. "Do you remember you once told me that you would do anything for me? Well, the time has come," said Anna, mentioning her friend Nicole. Ford assumed Nicole wanted a "get out of jail free card," but couldn't oblige. It would be political suicide. Anna started to sob, noting something horrible would happen to her if Ford didn't pardon her pal and promised to do anything to show her gratitide. Ford couldn't resist, and he and Anna started smooching.
Sami browsed the Internet looking for a job. EJ was against the idea. He wanted to take financial responsibility for their family. Brady arrived and was stunned when EJ answered the door. "Is he living here?" asked Brady. Sami assured EJ wasn't, Brady urged Sami to give EJ the heave-ho. Sami got angry. Brady changed the subject, noting he was there with good news. EJ suggested the duo head out and volunteered to watch the kids. Lexie arrived with Theo. EJ told Lexie things were better with him and Sami. Lexie wondered what EJ was up to. She knew how EJ felt about Sami. EJ denied having feelings for Sami. He was just there to be with his daughter. Lexie urged EJ to be honest with himself. Theo ran out and reported Sydney was crying. Lexie went to check on her. Theo told EJ that Johnny told him the secret about Sydney. She was never gone and with EJ that whole time.
Arianna arrived at Rafe's office. She told him she was getting married and showed him her ring. Soon, the pair were at the pub. Outside, Sami and Brady arrived. Brady's cell rang. He said, "hello," but no one responded. Sami and Brady entered the pub and spotted Arianna and Rafe. Sami and Rafe started talking; then, spatting, when the subject turned to EJ. Brady and Arianna returned. Sami mentioned she was looking for a job and had a found a clerical position at the FBI office. She asked if Rafe would write her a recommendation. Rafe thought it wasn't a good idea.
Carly and Vivian bickered on the pier. Vivian said Melanie would have been safe if Carly went to prison. Now she had to rethink everything. Carly noted that if anything happened to Melanie, the authorities would come looking for her. Gus arrived, and Vivian reminded Carly that she could take her out "any place time, any place." Daniel stormed up and ordered Vivian to back off. He warned Vivian to stay away from Melanie and Carly or vowed to see her spend her golden years making baskets in a psycho ward. Vivian left. Carly was impressed by Daniel's tough guy act. He actually seemed to scare Vivian She wondered if they were friends again. Daniel noted they shared a mutual enemy.
Vivian summoned Victor to the Java Caf. She told him Carly had been cleared of all charges, but vowed to take care of her. Victor toasted to the idea.
