DAYS Week Of June 23, 2008
Monday
At the pub, Morgan fretted about her missing father. Bo and Hope perused the report from the drug bust and discussed John being the top suspect. Chelsea interrupted and asked to speak to Hope. Bo asked Caroline why she was working instead of Max. Caroline admitted Max was going through a rough time, but she couldn't talk about it. Max told her in confidence. Chelsea told Hope she had a date, but they couldn't tell Bo. Meanwhile, Bo asked for Caroline's help planning a surprise party for Hope. Chelsea finally told Hope her date was with Daniel. Hope pointed out their age difference, but agreed not tell Bo about things, unless there was a second date.
Kate waited in her hospital room anxious to head home, when a nurse said her doctor had to give her one last checkup, first. "As long as it's not Dr. Jonas," snapped Kate, who called Lucas to tell him she was being released. Meanwhile, Daniel and Philip met at the gym, where Daniel tossed a copy of The Intruder at Philip. Philip insisted he had nothing to do with the dock fire or the cocaine. Speaking of coke, the conversation turned to Brady, Chloe and their divorce. Daniel realized Chloe was the woman Philip was seeing. Philip noted she was only part of the equation. Philip got a call from Kate, telling him she was being released from the hospital and asking if he could pick her up. Philip agreed, insisting Kate recuperate at the Kiriakis mansion.
John was on the phone telling someone he'd been set up by Kiriakis; then, walked off. Sami came in and mentioned needing some boxes to Lucas, since EJ was moving out. EJ begged to differ. John said he could stay. Lucas made a quick exit, and Sami told EJ he was being unreasonable. EJ told Sami they couldn't pretend their night of sex didn't happen. Lucas took his monitor off and left. EJ and Sami spat about his moving out. EJ said if he left, he was taking Johnny with him. Sami forbade that and insisted EJ go. When he refused, Sami asked how she was supposed to fix things with Lucas with EJ there. EJ suggested the situation might not be fixable, since Lucas caught Sami and EJ in bed. EJ pointed out how Sami couldn't stop thinking about him. Sami called EJ arrogant; then, begged him to move out.
Lucas arrived at Chloe's door, noting that John thought Philip planted the drugs on his ship and started the dock fire. Lucas claimed to know who really set the fire. He'd seen Paul on the pier, acting nervous and smelling like gasoline. Chloe urged Lucas to tell the police. Lucas said he couldn't. When he saw Paul, he wasn't wearing his ankle monitor and was breaking the law. That's why Chloe had to go the police for him. Lucas would coach her on what to say. Chloe agreed to do it. John arrived at the pub and told Bo that Philip set him up.
Bo said all the evidence pointed to John. Morgan railed on John for corrupting her father. John suggested Morgan direct her anger at the person her father was working for: Philip. Bo mentioned calling Paul in for questioning. Morgan revealed her father left town, because his life was in danger. "What did you do with him, John?" asked Philip. "You're the one he's working for," countered John. Alone, Bo asked Hope about her conversation with Chelsea. Hope said Chelsea had a date, but claimed not to know who it was with. Chelsea headed to see Kate. Philip followed.
Back at the hospital, Daniel visited Kate and wanted to examine her one final time. Kate said no, as Daniel held her release papers. Daniel said he was ready to cut Kate loose for a favor: he wanted them to be friends for Chelsea's sake. Kate wasn't interested. Chelsea arrived, and Kate suggested the two of them have dinner. Chelsea said she couldn't she had a date.
John returned to the mansion to find Sami and EJ bickering about his moving out. John thought the problem was solved. EJ was family, if he didn't want to leave, John wouldn't make him. Sami brought up Marlena. She wouldn't be happy if John sided with EJ over her. "My home, my rules," said John, warning Sami to be careful or she would be the one who was out.
Tuesday
Chloe told Lucas to hurry as he reattached his ankle monitor. Sami entered and warned Lucas about his new pal, and the two gals began to spat. John entered and broke things up. He asked if Philip's girlfriend was there to spy on him. Chloe wanted to spill the beans about Paul, but Lucas stopped her. John insisted Chloe leave and told Lucas not to invite her back. John took Sami out for a snack and told Lucas he wanted Chloe gone when he returned. Chloe wondered why Lucas didn't tell them why she was there. Was he having second thoughts about their plan? Lucas was but realized they had no other choice. Chloe had to convince the cops she was the one who saw Paul on the pier.
Yvonne told Philip she couldn't crack the encrypted disk, but thought the pattern matched brain waves. After she left, Philip phoned Marlena, noting he had information about John. Marlena arrived and Philip told her about the disk. He explained there were dormant brain wave patterns on it and might help John regain his memory. Marlena wanted to call Roman, since the disk had been stolen. Philip stopped her. Marlena realized Philip stole it and wondered why he was returning it. Philip wanted the old John back. Marlena got a phone call and said she'd be right there. Before she left, Philip made her promise not to tell John where she got the disk. Marlena agreed.
Ava and Nicole entered the gym looking for men, when EJ walked in. Ava sensed a connection between Nicole and EJ and wondered if they'd slept together. Nicole said they hadn't, because all EJ wanted was a one-night stand. John and Sami arrived. Ava approached John, who said he was there to grab a snack with his soon-to-be ex daughter-in-law. Sami's curiosity peaked. John said Marlena was mulling over getting a divorce. Sami excused herself and ran over to badger EJ about moving out of the mansion. EJ refused. Sami asked Nicole to convince EJ to move. Nicole refused; then, taunted Sami about almost having sex with EJ. Nicole returned to Ava and revealed she had information that could turn John's house into total chaos. Ava suggested Nicole tell John. So she did. Nicole revealed EJ lied to Sami; they weren't married any more. Their annulment was valid. Nicole told John to do whatever he wanted with the information.
Max told Caroline his father had moved back to Salem, but swore he was fine with it. Caroline was upset Max had kept the news from her. Max said his father didn't give a damn about him, so Max wanted nothing to do with him. Caroline urged Max to talk about this. Max said his biological father abandoned him and his mom, breaking her heart. She got sick and died, Max was carted off to foster care, crying, and his father did nothing.
Lexie got teary-eyed as she and Abe discussed Theo's problems. As a doctor, she blamed herself for not recognizing the symptoms. Marlena arrived, noting she got a call from the child psychologist at the hospital and thought they might need a friend. Abe said they were fine. Lexie said they weren't and neither was Theo. Lexie finally told Marlena that Theo was autistic.
EJ returned home and told Lucas he wasn't moving out of the mansion. Lucas relayed how Sami got mad after seeing him talking to Chloe, noting Sami always wanted what she couldn't have. EJ admitted already knowing that. Lucas asked if Sami told EJ about Brandon and relayed how Sami sabotaged his relationship with Carrie and tried to break up Carrie and Austin. He called Sami jealous and possessive. Sami arrived home and listed outside the door. Soon, she stormed in and chastised EJ for almost having sex with Nicole. EJ admitted it was true. Then he and Lucas decided to continue their chat elsewhere and left, as Sami stood there stunned.
Wednesday
Stephanie and Caroline talked about Max and his biological father. Chelsea arrived carting packages, begging for Steph's help. She bought four outfits for her date, but didn't know what to wear. Steph and Chelsea went up to Max's room so Chelsea could get dressed. Max said he was leaving to find his father and find out about the girl in the picture. Steph wanted to go with him. Max said he needed to do this alone. Chelsea emerged dressed and took off. Steph tried to stop Max to no avail.
Marlena told Abe and Lexie how sorry she was about Theo. Abe went on about his son and noted how their lives had changed because of one word: autism. Lexie thought it was good to know what was going on with Theo. Living in denial wasn't helping. Marlena offered her help as a friend. She told them about losing a child to SIDS and how it destroyed her marriage to Don. She didn't want that to happen to Abe and Lexie. Marlena assured family, friends and support groups would help them. After Marlena left, Abe promised Lexie they'd get through this together.
Philip laid in bed while Chloe dressed. She had something important to do that was for his own good. Philip asked what it was. Chloe said she had to talk to Roman and swore she'd never do anything to hurt Philip. He could come with her if he wanted. While Philip fetched the car, Chloe called Lucas and told him she was headed to talk to the cops. When Lucas hung up, John probed him about the call. Lucas said it was private. The doorbell rang and it was Marlena, anxious to talk to John and Rolf. "This is about getting my husband back," she said, producing the disk and noting it was the one stolen from the mansion. "I believe it could be the key to unlocking your past," she announced.
At Chez Rouge, Trent thanked Nicole for meeting him and proposed a toast to their past and future. Hope asked Bo why he brought her there. Bo said she’d find out when the time was right. Daniel arrived, walked over to the bar, and said hi. Bo asked if Daniel was there for a hot date. Daniel was spared answering when a waiter took Bo and Hope to their table. Nicole laid into Trent for the way he operated and wanted to leave. Trent said the night was young and he’d missed her, swearing he wasn't the same person he used to be. Nicole said all she wanted was an answer to one question. Trent assured Nicole their secret was safe. Chelsea arrived and Daniel was agog. Chelsea spotted Bo and Hope and noted there could be a problem. Finally, Bo told Hope what was going on. After his near death experience and her kidnapping, he realized how precious their time together was. Trent took a reluctant Nicole for a spin on the dance floor. He said he wondered about his past catching up with him when he took his post at Salem U, but he never imagined it would be Nicole. "Who else would it be?" she asked. "My son," admitted Trent, noting his name was Max Brady. Chelsea decided she was fine with her situation with Daniel, but noted she hadn't told her dad about them yet. She just told Hope. Daniel said they were two adults who were doing nothing wrong. The pair swung by to say hello to Bo and Hope. Bo was surprised to learn Daniel's date was with Chelsea. The doc was a little old for her. Later, Chelsea assured Daniel her dad would come around.
Max and Steph headed down to the pub where Kayla and Steve were chatting with Roman. Steve walked up and asked for a word alone with Max. Steph joined her mother and Roman as Morgan burst in and said she needed help. She thought her father might be missing. Steve told Max he was concerned about his behavior of late. Max revealed his biological father was in town and making his life hell. Steve related and brought up Duke. Max promised he'd never hurt Steph. He loved her. Steve suggested Max trust that love and open up to his daughter. Chloe walked in, announcing she had news about Paul: She saw him at the pier the night of the fire and he reeked of gasoline.
Thursday
Daniel and Chelsea discussed their awkward first date. Chelsea noted Bo and Hope went home to tend to Ciara and she was glad. Bo looking over her shoulder made her nervous. Chelsea assured Daniel that Bo liked him, but was hung up on his age. Chelsea wanted to talk about "us." Daniel noted there was no "us;" they were just on a date exploring possibilities. Daniel got a page from the hospital and had to leave, but asked Chelsea to accompany him. He led Chelsea into an empty hospital room and said he'd be back soon. Soon, there was a knock on the door, and a man entered pushing a cart with food on it. Before Chelsea could see what it was, Daniel returned and announced it was dinner, courtesy of Chez Rogue. Then, Daniel leaned in for a kiss.
Trent reminisced about his past with Nicole. "I was nothing more than your little sex toy," she complained. Trent suggested starting over. Nicole wasn't interested. The conversation turned to Max. Trent swore he cared for his son and Nicole. Nicole said meeting Trent nearly ruined her life. Trent countered that if it wasn't for him, Nicole would be dead. He helped her get back on her feet. Nicole likened Trent to her father. Trent only used her as a warm body to have sex with, then dumped her. "It hurt so bad, I didn't care if I lived or died," sobbed Nicole, adding she thought Trent loved her. Nicole swore she'd never trust anyone again and wasn't buying Trent's nice guy act. Trent said he was on top, and no one could bring him down. He warned Nicole to keep her mouth shut or her dirty secret would come out.
Morgan accused Chloe of lying about Paul being on the pier the night of the fire, and she knew why: Chloe was covering for someone. Morgan suggested John started the dock fire. Roman insisted there was no evidence of that, but there was an eyewitness — Chloe, who swore she was telling the truth. Roman took Chloe off to talk privately, where she told her tale about Paul. Morgan said Chloe was just doing this because she saw her kissing Philip. Roman told Morgan to leave, and Philip followed. Roman asked Chloe what Paul was wearing the night of the fire. Chloe stalled by asking Roman for a glass of water, then she text messaged Lucas with the question. Afterwards, she told Roman that Paul was wearing a gray suit, a shirt and no tie. Chloe thought Paul set the fire to get back at John. She thought he and Philip were innocent. Morgan told Philip she was worried about her father. Philip promised to stand by her. Morgan thanked him with a kiss.
Max asked Stephanie to stop trying to talk him out of going to see Trent. He was determined to tell everyone that Trent was a ruthless, heartless bastard. Steve suggested that would be a mistake. Max didn't understand, especially since Steve had an abusive father. Steve said he knew his father. Max needed to make sure Trent was the monster Max thought he was. Kayla urged Max to make sure before he did or said something he would regret. Max called his father scum. Kayla suggested he might have changed. Max insisted he was still a "worthless son of a bitch" and left.
Marlena told John the disk could be the key to their future. It contained memories of who John was. Lucas walked in and asked if the disk contained a map of John's brain. Marlena said her source told her there were brain wave patterns on it. "How do we know they're John's?" asked Lucas, suggesting Marlena's source might have set her up. Marlena said Rolf set them up and knew what was on the disk. Rolf feigned ignorance. Again, John asked where Marlena got the disk and mentioned Philip, asking why she was protecting the enemy. Marlena said she never mentioned Philip and wanted to hit the lab with the disk. John was hesitant. If Stefano was behind it, there could be dangerous risk. Marlena announced there was a simple way to get the information on the disk and she wanted to do it now.
Friday
Tony and Anna dined and discussed their pre-dinner romp. The couple toasted being newlyweds and Tony noted the one thing that could make their happiness complete: if she quite her job at Lundberg Advertising and came and work for him. Anna refused. Tony went off to make a call and give Anna time to think it over. A man walked over to Anna and introduced himself as Reginald Lundberg, her boss. He had bad news — he was closing his agency. When Tony returned, Anna said she'd decided to accept his job offer, but wanted to work with Tony, not for him. Tony agreed. When Anna left to freshen up, Reginald resurfaced and filled Tony in on what went down with Anna earlier. Anna returned, and Tony asked about her sudden decision to work with him. Anna said there was nothing to say. Tony let her off the hook, noting he was lucky she'd be working by his side.
Victor met Philip at the bar. He was upset because Paul was missing. Philip promised everything was under control, glancing over at Morgan as she walked by. "Are you sleeping with Paul's daughter?" asked Victor. Philip said Morgan was a friend. "I figure if Paul resurfaces, she'll be the first to know about it, and I'll be the first to hear about it," noted Philip. Morgan came over and told Philip she got his message, and they walked off. Morgan questioned Philip about why he called her. "I want to be your friend," said Philip. "Is that why you kissed me the other night?" countered Morgan, wondering if Philip was attracted to her because he wanted to find her father. Philip admitted he wanted to find Paul, but that wasn't the reason he called Morgan. He wanted her cheer her up. Philip offered to drive Morgan home.
Daniel and Chelsea continued their romantic hospital room date. After some kisses, Daniel admitted the whole dating thing was a little new for him...particularly in a hospital room where the doors didn't lock. Daniel's pager went off again and he had to leave. Chelsea promised to wait for him. Daniel returned and Chelsea asked him to close his eyes. "I feel blessed to know you so I thought you should be rewarded," she noted. Daniel opened his peepers to discover their dessert: Jell-o. Chelsea swiped it from the patient in the next room. Daniel was more interested in kissing than eating. Soon, he suggested dancing. Daniel turned on his MP3 player and the pair danced.
John and Marlena were discussing the disk when the doorbell rang. It was Ava. John insisted she stay, wanting Ava to weigh in on their conversation. Marlena didn't and started to leave. John stopped her. Marlena implored John to take the disk seriously. Ava started to leave. John stopped her, noting he and Marlena were through talking. John went on about how the disk could hold the memories he lost and be the key to his past. Ava mentioned looking into it. John wasn't interested. Marlena decided she'd had enough, noting she hoped John came to his senses, "because the man that you were is the only man worth being." After Marlena left, Ava admitted she wasn't sure she wanted John to go back to his old self. John concurred, then moved in on Ava. Suddenly, John admitted he couldn't get his mind off the disk. Ava suggested destroying it. John wasn't sure, so Ava proposed putting it in a drawer and forgetting about it. John decided to head to the lab to see if there was any hardware compatible with the disk. Ava went with him. Marlena arrived at Chez Rouge and ordered a drink. Victor approached her, sensing something was wrong and surmising it was John. Marlena doubted Victor could help her, but thought Philip could.
Lexie came downstairs after putting Theo to bed. Abe wanted to talk. Lexie didn't. "What more is there to say?" she asked. "Our little boy is autistic." Lexie said she'd make calls in the morning and get started on a plan, seeking out specialists and treatments. Abe reminded her that their sweet little Theo still had the potential to change, grow and have a great future. Lexie cried, saying she wanted to believe that with all her heart. Abe assured they'd get through this together and Theo would be fine. They just had to fight for it.
