Monday
At University Hospital, Kate refused to let Daniel perform her surgery, much to Chelsea's dismay. Kate claimed that as Victor's godson and a family friend, Daniel isn't objective. The doc asked for a moment alone with Kate and urged her to reconsider, but she stood firm. An exasperated Daniel said that she'd have to be the one to explain her decision to Chelsea. Philip arrived and was vexed to hear that his mother won't let Dr. Jonas perform the operation. He pointed out that Daniel did a great job on Chelsea and Bo, but Kate stuck by her guns.
EJ went to Victor with a proposal that Vic and Nicole's divorce be settled out of court. Kiriakis refused, but EJ countered that Nicole could charge him with fraud since he let everyone think that he was dead. The lawyer also promised to make the Kiriakis family look like a freak show. Vic finally offered to give Nicole half of what she's asking for. EJ balked, but Nic quickly accepted the deal, much to her lawyer's surprise.
Sami pressed Lucas to admit that he snuck out of the DiMera mansion, but he insisted that he had not violated his house arrest. He changed the subject by saying that he, Sami and EJ should not be living under the same roof and that either Sami or EJ needs to move out. They were interrupted by Chloe, who said she came to retrieve her sunglasses. Lucas pointed out that the shades were on Chloe's head. Sami tried to linger, but Lucas asked her to give him some privacy. Chloe called Lucas on being at the piers last night. He tried to deny it, but Chloe didn't buy his lies. Lucas finally admitted that he'd slipped out of the mansion, but asked Chloe not to tell anyone his secret. He explained that he has no intention of running away, he just needed to clear his head.
Steve and Kayla discussed Max's peculiar behavior and worried for Stephanie. Still, Kayla said they can't get involved, pointing out that their daughter hasn't asked for their help. The Johnsons got some good news: Joey is off the ventilator and they can hold their baby. In the meantime, Stephanie phoned Nick to ask if he's seen Max. Nick offered to meet her at the hospital..... Max broke into Dean Robbins's room and trashed it..... Victor headed to the hospital and was unsettled by Kate's insistence that Daniel not perform her surgery. Victor apologized to Philip for the things he had said and and declared that his son is doing a good job at Titan.
Sami met Roman at the pub for breakfast. She wanted to talk about Lucas. She explained that there's no way she's going to move out of the mansion and she knows that EJ won't move either. Roman observed that his daughter doesn't seem to like the idea of EJ moving. She admitted that Roman is correct, but said she couldn't tell Lucas or else he'd accuse her of having feelings for Wells. Sami contended that she is only interested in EJ's role as a father, prompting Roman to ask if that means she doesn't mind seeing EJ with Nicole. Speaking of, the two had just walked into the pub. Nicole was ready to celebrate her divorce, but admitted that she's going to miss EJ. She thanked him with an affectionate hug and left. Outside she ran into Dean Robbins and looked stricken. A flirtatious Trent murmured that they need to catch up. She declined, but he insisted, saying that she could never say no to him.... EJ walked over to Sami and invited her to celebrate Nicole's divorce settlement by going to dinner with him. Sami didn't think that would look good, but she did want to talk about EJ moving out of the mansion.
Tuesday
John confronted Bo and Hope at the Brady Pub, demanding to know why Philip hasn't been arrested for planting drugs in his cargo and setting his warehouse on fire. The Bradys pointed out that there is no proof that Kiriakis is involved. John accused Bo of covering for his half brother and stormed off.
Chloe promised Lucas that she won't tell anyone that he violated his house arrest by slipping out of the mansion, but warned him not to take any more dangerous risks. Their talk was interrupted by John who was none too pleased to see Chloe in his house. After Chloe exited, Lucas chided John on being so rude to his friend. Once he was alone, John called Ava and agreed to take her up on her offer.
At University Hospital, a concerned Steve suggested that Stephanie consider giving erratic Max some space. Steph accused her father of wanting her to give up on Max. When Kayla came along, Stephanie rebuked her mom for telling Steve about Max's behavior. Steve brought up that not long ago her life had been in danger, but Stephanie retorted that it was because of him, adding that Max is the one who saved her. Stephanie quickly apologized for sassing her dad, but added that he can't tell her what to do and walked off. Kayla gently urged her husband to back off and he said that he would.
Trent took Nicole back to the Salem Inn, explaining that he's staying there until he finds a house. He murmured that he couldn't wait for them "to reconnect," eyeing Nicole lasciviously. They entered the suite, which had been trashed by Max. After Trent called down to the front desk with an order to summon the cops, he turned to talk to Nicole, who had slipped away. Little did the dean know that Max was hiding in the other room. Trent heard a noise and rushed into the bedroom, but there was no sign of Max, who had escaped through a window.
Philip arrived at the pub to meet with Bo and Hope, who questioned him about the fire, asking if Paul Hollingsworth has an alibi. Kiriakis claimed to have no information. Bo got a call about the break-in at the hotel and took off.... Ava arrived at the DiMera estate and promised to help John find out if Paul torched the warehouse. Ava phoned Angelo and asked him to have Paul picked up and brought over to the DiMera estate. Sure enough, Angelo and Eddie dragged Paul into the DiMera living room, where John demanded answers about the warehouse fire. Paul pleaded innocence so Angelo slapped him around a bit — then pulled out a pistol. John instructed the goons to let Paul go ... for now.
A rattled Nicole charged into the Kiriakis mansion looking for Victor, but Philip was there. He laughed bitterly when she said that she had to ask his dad for a favor, but seeing how upset she was, Kiriakis asked what she needed. "What I need is protection," she stammered. Philip wanted more information, but a teary-eyed Nicole told him to forget it and bolted, bumping into Chloe. Philip got a phone call from someone informing him that Ava's men had picked up Hollingsworth and taken him to the DiMera manse. Chloe was curious, but he distracted her with a sexy kiss.
Nick and Stephanie arrived separately at the pub and shared their worries about Max's whereabouts. Suddenly Max strolled in. He blew off their concern, saying that he'd just gone for a run and can take care of himself.... After briefly questioning Dean Robbins, Bo returned to the pub and surprised Nick with the news that someone had broken into the dean's room. In the meantime, Trent phoned Nicole to ask when he's going to see "Nikki" again.
Wednesday
Paul summoned Philip to the pier and filled him in on how John had Eddie and Angelo rough him up earlier that day. An unsympathetic Philip responded with some shoves and blasted Hollingsworth over taking matters into his own hands with the warehouse fire. Despite Paul's pleas for help, Philip ordered him to leave town before he becomes more of a liability. A short time later, Morgan met up with her dad on the pier and was dismayed to hear that he's leaving Salem. Afterward, Philip came along and found Morgan crying. He comforted her with a hug (though he did get in some digs about Paul's character). A sobbing Morgan asked him to look out for her and her father, saying that Kiriakis has a good heart and is the only one that she trusts right now. Then she planted a big kiss on him.
Marlena and Hope met at the pub. Hope encouraged her friend to help John before it's too late. Marlena wasn't so certain that she still holds sway over John. Meanwhile, John and Ava shared scotch at the DiMera mansion. They watched in amusement as EJ stormed in and started shouting for Lucas. He reported that Sami asked him to leave the manse. “I'm only her husband, I don't have any rights,” the Brit grumbled. Lucas walked in and a smirking John said that EJ is welcome to stay. Nic arrived and asked to speak to Ava, who exited with her. John left EJ and Lucas to sort out their situation. EJ informed Lucas that he's not going anywhere.
Stephanie visited Max's room. She was sore about his disappearing act, while he was peeved about being questioned. Stephanie noted that Bo asked if Dean Robbins has any enemies who might have trashed his hotel suite. She wanted to know if Max and the dean have a beef. Max stonewalled for a bit, then snapped that she can't save him from his screwed up life. A wounded Stephanie fought back tears and Max apologized for speaking so harshly. Max admitted that he was behind the break-in, but refused to divulge further information. He went to see the dean, telling Stephanie to stay behind. Trent wasn't happy to see Max. When Max picked up a photo of a girl and asked about it, Trent ordered him to leave. As Trent was shouting at Max, Stephanie banged on the door. Max let in Stephanie, but continued to ask who the girl is. Trent threatened to call the cops, but Max said that he was bluffing.
Ava and Nicole dropped by the Brady Pub, where they spotted Hope and Marlena. Ava walked over and invited them to join her and Nicole for a drink. Hope was astonished to hear that Ava is dating John. Ava and Marlena began hissing at each other, then Ava shimmied back to her table and asked why Nicole wanted to see her. “My past has come back to haunt me,” confessed Nic. Nicole explained that a man from her past is back in Salem. Ava guessed that the man had victimized Nicole, who broke down in tears. Ava promised to use her “resources” if Nicole needs protection. A grateful Nicole promised to call her friend later and departed.... Back at their table, Marlena agreed to Hope's request that she speak to John about backing off from the Kiriakises. Just then, John came into the pub. Unfortunately, he told Marlena that he's moved on and suggested that she do the same. Then he left with Ava, much to Marlena's obvious dismay.
Nicole returned to the Kiriakis manor and placed an order at the liquor store. EJ came calling and recounted how Samantha has asked him to move out. Nicole said she was sorry to hear that, but EJ pointed out that she looks happy about the news. He added that he's not leaving. Nicole purred that Victor is going to be at the hospital with Kate all night. EJ wondered what they can do in Vic's absence. The answer was to start smooching, of course!
Thursday
Alone at the Kiriakis mansion, Nicole and EJ engaged in a passionate kiss. Nic proposed going up to Victor's room, prompting EJ to teasingly call her a, "sick, little puppy." He led her to the couch for more noisy lip-smacking. Nic abruptly pulled back, confusing Elvis. He asked why she was, "suddenly hostile," but Nic ordered him to go home, pointing out that he's clearly still in love with Sami.
Chloe's jaw dropped when she spotted Philip and Morgan sucking face on the pier. Chloe stormed over and started hurling invective. As Morgan was leaving, Chloe made a comment about Philip's relationship with Paul. Morgan turned back to defend Philip, saying that he is only trying to help her father. Chloe warned that Kiriakis may have an ulterior motive. Once they were alone, Chloe admitted that she's starting to have real feelings for Philip. He said that he cares about her and doesn't want to make her angry or jealous, insisting that Chloe is the only one he wants. She didn't really buy it.
In Trent's suite at the Salem Inn, Max shocked Stephanie with the news that the dean is his father. Trent confessed that he'd kept tabs on Max and knew that he was well taken care of. Max accused Trent of abusing and abandoning his late mother. He bitterly recounted his life as a foster child before the Bradys adopted him, then threatened to expose Trent to the folks at the university. Trent asked how much it would take to buy his son's silence, which disgusted Stephanie. Max said he wouldn't take the money, but that he wants to know about the girl in the picture. Max demanded to know if the girl is his sister, but Trent kept mum. Max made plans to meet him the following day and left with Stephanie.
Marlena walked into the DiMera mansion, where John asked for a chance to explain himself over the way he snubbed her at the pub. John admitted that he'd behaved childishly, saying that he was just trying to pay her back because Marlena had hurt him. He called his behavior "flip and callous" and apologized. Jack suggested that he have Cook prepare them dinner, but Marlena asked about Ava and his comment about "moving on." John swore that nothing is going on with him and Ava. Marlena thought that Ava might be romantically interested in John and warned him not to toy with a woman who is capable of such obsessive behavior. John's phone rang and the caller informed him that Paul is leaving Salem. He resumed his romantic night with Blondie and they toasted to "new beginnings" and "second chances." His phone rang again, which piqued Marlena's curiosity.
EJ stopped by the Brady Pub for a drink and ran into Tony, who was beaming over his new marriage to Anna. DiMera noted that Elvis appeared gloomy. He counseled EJ to fight for Sami. In the meantime, Victor returned home from visiting Kate at the hospital and started gleefully insulting Nicole. He surmised that Nicole had been rejected by EJ. After harshly telling him that all she wants is cold, hard cash, Nicole admitted to herself that she wants more than that.
Paul found teary-eyed Morgan outside the pub and gave her a hug before heading out of town. He also ordered his daughter to stay away from Philip.... Back on the pier, Philip took a phone call and instructed the caller to make sure that Paul doesn't talk.... As a glum Morgan sat in the pub, an unseen figure rolled Paul's body into the water.
Friday
At University Hospital, Daniel made dinner reservations, then visited Kate who loudly ordered him to get out of her room.... Morgan and Chelsea worked up a sweat at the gym and ran into Crystle, the Alpha Chi Theta adviser, who chatted with them about a breast cancer event. Afterward, an excited Chelsea told Morgan that she has a dinner date with Daniel. Morgan cautioned her to take it slow, prompting a peeved Chelsea to storm off.... Back at the hospital, Lexie heard the commotion in Kate's room and went to see what was going on. Daniel walked away in a huff. Kate noted that Lexie seems distracted. She explained that she and Abe are taking Theo to a specialist.
Marlena and John both happened to be having breakfast at the Brady Pub. He invited her to move back into the DiMera mansion, but she didn't think either one of them was ready for that. She also wanted to talk some more about Ava, but John changed the topic to Philip.... Nearby, Max bristled when Stephanie referred to Trent as his father. When Stephanie left, Caroline demanded that Max tell her why he's been in such a funk. He took a break in his room and was soon visited by Nick, who said that Caroline isn't the only one worried about him. Nick suggested that Max go to school, but Max didn't want to hear it.
As Nicole was standing outside the pub, she got a call from Trent, who wanted to meet with his "sweet girl." Before long, Trent slithered up, caressed her face and vowed not to lose Nicole once again. He invited her to dinner.
Chelsea and Morgan went to the juice bar and Chelsea continued to defend Daniel. Morgan questioned the age difference. A glum Stephanie appeared. She revealed that Max is harboring a big secret. Chelsea missed a call from Daniel, but called him back. He told her that their dinner reservation was for 7:30 at Chez Rouge.
A lovey-dovey Philip and Chloe woke up in bed together. He received a call from John, who wanted to meet at the pub. Philip showed up with Chloe in tow, but had no interest in talking to John about the cargo/warehouse drama. Philip left Chloe with money to buy herself breakfast and headed to the gym. He encountered Daniel, who griped about Kate's refusal to let him treat her and women in general. Philip had a flashback to kissing Morgan the night before. Some girl they called "Treadmill Tina" gave Daniel the eye, but the doc told Philip that he's interested in another woman. Philip figured he was talking about Chelsea and told him to go for it.
After the gym, Morgan, Chelsea and Stephanie went to the pub. Morgan, spotted Chloe and complained to her friends about the "harlot." Chloe approached her rival and advised her to stay away from Philip, saying that he has a pattern of using young girls. Morgan observed that Chloe seems threatened, then commented that she should feel that way..... Stephanie urged Max to tell his mother the truth about Trent, but he worried that the news would hurt her. A moment later, he went to Caroline, saying he wanted to talk about his biological father. Max confessed that he knows who the man is.
Marlena and John went back to the mansion and she brought up Ava again. She suggested that maybe they need to file for divorce so that he can be free to choose what he wants. She said she was doing this because she loves him.
