DAYS Week of July 7, 2008
Monday
Stephanie and Max lingered and smooched at the pub as they discussed heading to Bo and Hope's house. Nick arrived, and Max told him Trent had information he wanted and hoped Nick could help him get it. Max showed Nick the picture of the girl he thought might be his sister. Nick agreed to help Max find out. Trent entered the pub, and Nick asked him for a ride to campus. As Nick went to get his things, he accidentally (on purpose) bumped into Trent and lifted his cell phone. Later, Nick returned to the pub, and Max said he found an out of town number on Trent's phone that had been called a lot. Max dialed it and heard a female voice answer and say, "Dad?"
Chelsea and Daniel got caught kissing when the lights came on at the Brady house. A disapproving Bo headed for the pair, but Hope stopped him. Kate arrived, saw the kiss, and fainted. Daniel tried to revive her. Lexie volunteered to help. Soon, Kate came to and told Chelsea they needed to talk. She told her grandchild that her relationship with Daniel was inappropriate and urged her to break things off. Lexie also advised Daniel to think the relationship through. Daniel wasn't receptive to her advice, insisting it felt right to him.
John opened the door to the lab, and Marlena saw him standing there with a lit lighter in hand. Marlena couldn't believe he destroyed the place that could access the disk and his past. John said he was tired of chasing ghosts. Marlena sobbed that John had been a loving and generous man, and now he was gone forever. Then she walked out. Ava comforted John.
Sami was looking for the missing Lucas and his ankle monitor when Marlena walked in. Sami asked why she was upset. Marlena explained she'd lost John for good. John entered with Ava, and Sami let him have it for breaking her mother's heart. John went on about it being his life. Marlena couldn't believe John turned to Ava instead of his family. Ava said she and John shared "a connection." Marlena couldn't believe John was okay with never accessing his past. John claimed he felt liberated; now he was in control of his own destiny. John and Ava left for a moment, as Marlena admitted she'd expected too much from John. Marlena changed the subject to Sami, Lucas and EJ. Had Sami told Lucas she loved him and wanted to be with him? Sami swore she had. With the power out, Sami said the mansion was hot and wanted to take the twins someplace cool. Marlena suggested the Salem Inn. Later, Marlena headed to the lab and saw the broken disk on the floor. She picked up the disk and vowed not to give up on John.
Upstairs, John and Ava enjoyed champagne and toasted to John Black DiMera.
At the Salem Inn, Lucas and Chloe got hot and heavy in a stalled elevator after a couple of stops and starts. "Are we crazy?" asked Chloe. Lucas said Chloe got him, while Sami didn't. He thought their kissing felt right. Chloe agreed, but said she felt like she was somehow betraying Philip. Lucas brought up Morgan, then he thought about Sami. He wondered if he and Chloe might just be using each other. No matter — the pair decided to give it a go. Meanwhile, in another stalled elevator, Nicole and EJ went at it. EJ ruined the mood, calling out, "Samantha." Nicole backed off and EJ apologized, insisting it was a mistake. Nicole was appeased, and the pair resumed their sexcapades. Nicole thanked EJ for being a classy, considerate guy (?). Later, Nicole tried to downplay their encounter, calling it "revenge sex." EJ called Nicole on going from this needy vulnerable girl to a tough, glib woman. He kissed her and said she was one of the most intelligent, fun women he'd ever met. Nicole was touched.
Sami wheeled the twins' carriage into the Salem Inn, where she was told people were trapped in the elevators. Sami stared at the doors, not knowing EJ and Nicole and Lucas and Chloe were canoodling behind them. Inside, Nicole told EJ a part of her wished the rescuers never arrived. Meanwhile, Lucas told Chloe he hoped the elevator doors never opened, too. Since he broke house arrest, he could be going back to prison.
Tuesday
Max hit redial on Trent's cell phone. A girl answered and said, "Dad?" Max asked the girl who she was. The girl asked Max why he had her father's phone and hung up. Stephanie was excited about Max possibly having a sister and suggested he focus on finding her. Roman arrived and told Max he needed to get the word out that the pub was a shelter. Max promised to keep the pub open, while Roman left to coordinate disaster relief at the station. The conversation turned back to Max's sister. Max flashed back to his initial confrontation with Trent and Trent offering to bribe him to keep quiet about their relationship. Max went off about his father deserting him and hurting his mother, noting that that phone call resurrected a lot of old feelings. He wanted answers and wondered how the girl could possibly love Trent. Max was determined to find her, but knew he couldn't let Trent know what he was doing. Steph suggested phoning the girl again. Max wanted to take another approach. Steph vowed to be there to support Max no matter what he decided to do next.
Inside their elevator at the Salem Inn, Nicole fantasized about her and EJ. In the dream, she was in a wedding dress, confronting Sami and telling her she and EJ were married. Outside, Sami phoned Roman, who told her workers had been dispatched to work on the power outage. Then Sami asked about the people trapped in the elevators. A cop informed her they'd be out soon. Sami called Lucas, got no answer, and wondered where he was. In another elevator, Lucas told Chloe how incredible she was and assured her he was through with Sami. Chloe responded with a kiss. In elevator No. 1, Nicole enjoyed her alone time with a doting EJ, as she realized how special making love could be. Suddenly, the doors opened, just as EJ was putting on his shirt. A stunned Sami realized EJ and Nicole just had sex and called it "disgusting." EJ blamed Sami for telling him to move on. Sami said she didn't care, since she had real love with Lucas, who'd never be caught dead doing some tramp in an elevator. Little did she know Lucas and Chloe were discussing their sexcapades behind elevator door No. 2. Chloe wondered if Lucas felt he betrayed Sami. He didn't and pointed out Sami betrayed him when she slept with EJ. Sami lashed out at EJ. Nicole confirmed she and EJ had sex, noting it wouldn't have happened if Sami hadn't been so stupid. Sami said she didn't care. She didn't want EJ. She wanted Lucas, who was busy trying to figure out how he was going to make it out of the elevator without being noticed. Soon, a voice came over the intercom, announcing the elevator was being lowered manually. Chloe and Lucas knew they were about to be freed. Chloe said she would pretend to panic when the doors opened, so Lucas could sneak out.
Outside, EJ tried to talk to Sami. She wasn't interested, started to leave and ran into Roman, who was there to help with the rescue. The cops pried open the door of Chloe and Lucas' elevator. Chloe screamed as Lucas sneaked away. As fate would have it, he bumped right into Sami, who gasped. Lucas said he had to go. Then, Nicole spotted him and also gasped. The cops promptly closed in on Lucas and read him his rights. Sami begged Roman not to arrest Lucas, insisting he left the house for an emergency. Roman said it didn't matter; Lucas broke house arrest. He was heading back to prison for the remainder of his sentence. With that, Roman carted Lucas away.
Wednesday
Steve and Kayla arrived at the pub as Max and Stephanie chatted about the blackout ending. Max summoned them, because he knew he'd need help finding his sister. Steve and Kayla assured Max they'd help him, and Kayla urged Max to tell Caroline what was going on. When Max headed to talk to her, Steph thanked her parents and told them what a creep Trent was. Steve insisted Steph stay away from him. Steph said she couldn't do that. She gave Steve Max's sister's phone number, and Steve went off to call his buddy and asked him to trace it. Meanwhile, Max told Caroline the latest regarding his biological dad: it was Trent. Caroline recalled meeting him years ago. Max noted he might have a sister and needed to find her. Later, Steve returned and handed Max a piece of paper with the name Melanie Leighton on it.
EJ met Nicole outside, eager to talk about what happened last night. "It was sex. No big deal," noted Nicole. EJ said it was more than sex. It was special. Nicole agreed. Then Trent interrupted, kissing Nicole and telling EJ they were old friends. When Trent mentioned getting together to catch up, Nicole suggested now. So EJ retreated into the pub. Alone, Trent demanded to know who EJ was. "My lawyer," responded Nicole. Trent didn't buy it and ordered Nicole to end her relationship with EJ. Nicole refused, and Trent assured there would be consequences. Nicole went into the pub and told EJ what happened last night could never happen again. EJ didn't understand. Nicole said he was in love with Sami, and she wanted a real relationship.
Morgan arrived at the station as Abe, Bo and Roman discussed Paul's disappearance. Roman gave her the letter they found from Paul. Philip, who was there to meet with Lucas' lawyer, entered and asked what was going on. The cops wanted to him to leave. Philip obliged after Morgan said she was okay. He ran into Chloe, who spotted Morgan and was annoyed. Morgan read Paul's letter, which said it was time she knew the truth about him, admitting he had enemies and had to leave town. Lexie and Theo arrived to see Abe, who agreed to join them for lunch. Lexie asked Abe to check his calendar first — she wanted to make another doctor's appointment for Theo. Chloe flipped about seeing Philip at Morgan's side. Philip said his relationship with Morgan was complicated. Chloe freaked, noting that's why she did what she did last night. Morgan remembered saying goodbye to her dad and begged the cops to find him. Roman noted that in Paul's letter he mentioned giving Morgan some incriminating evidence against someone. Morgan insisted she had no idea what it was.
Meanwhile, Chloe told Philip she was done and was already seeing someone else. Philip demanded to know his name. On cue, the cops brought in Lucas. Philip asked why Lucas broke house arrest. Lucas couldn't get into it. Chloe expressed her concern, as the cops hauled Lucas off. She told Philip that Lucas came to see her last night. She needed someone to talk to and he cared about her. Morgan interrupted, and Chloe advised her not to tell Philip anything about her father's investigation. Then, she went off about finding a man who respected her: Lucas! "I slept with him," snapped Chloe, storming off.
Lexie and Theo arrived at the pub. Caroline asked the tyke if he wanted some chowder, and he responded by counting to four. Later, Theo tossed a plate of vegetables across the pub. Meanwhile, Steve suggested Max not contact his sister until they found out more about her. Max promised Steve he'd keep Steph out of it. Caroline brought Trent his phone, noting it was in lost and found. "You know who I am," noted Trent. Caroline admitted she did and that she would do anything to protect Max, warning Trent he was on notice.
Thursday
Nicole met EJ outside the pub, anxious to sign her divorce papers and end that depressing chapter in her life. EJ wondered if that included their relationship. Nicole said what they had was a one-time thing. Inside, Max told Stephanie about Lucas's arrest. Then, he walked over to Trent's table and said he was tired of hating him. Victor and Caroline discussed her concern for Max and Victor's divorce from Nicole. Victor planned to celebrate once the papers were filed and invited Caroline to a movie. Nicole and EJ walked in and Nicole ordered champagne. Caroline fetched it. Nicole told Victor it felt like only yesterday that they'd met. Victor flashed back to their earlier years — the good, the bad and the ugly. Nicole proposed a toast to happy endings and good health. Victor looked at her as things blurred. Nicole asked if he was okay. Victor said he was.
Steph wondered how Caroline felt about Victor's divorce and suggested they go out once in a while. Caroline said they were just friends and turned the subject to Max. She hoped Melanie wasn't like her father. Max proposed he and Trent call a truce and go their separate ways. He gave Trent the picture of his sister and said he wouldn't ask who she was again. Max just wanted Trent to leave him alone. Trent agreed. Max told Steph that Trent didn't give him any information about Melanie. Steph promised to help him find her. "No, you won't," said Max, insisting he'd changed his mind about finding Melanie. He didn't want to be connected to Trent, and Melanie connected them. Besides, the Brady bunch was Max's family.
Nicole visited Trent, who noted she hadn't ended things with EJ. Nicole said EJ was helping her with business and told Trent to stay out of her life. Caroline got on Trent for talking to Max. Trent said he'd keep his distance and left. Nicole signed the divorce papers, and she and Victor said their goodbyes. EJ invited Nicole to lunch, but she declined. So he suggested dinner. Again, she said no. EJ followed Nicole outside, where she told him she didn't like to share, and he was in love with Sami. Steph told Max she was going to the hospital to visit baby Joe, as Max flashed back to Steve telling him to keep Steph out of the search for his sister. Caroline asked Victor how things went with Nicole. Victor said he was finally free of the witch and mentioned taking in a movie on Tuesday. Caroline agreed, and Victor smiled. Then, suddenly, he fell to the floor.
Bo and Hope questioned Lucas about why he broke house arrest and went to the Salem Inn. Meanwhile, Philip asked Chloe why she slept with Lucas. Chloe said she didn't owe him an explanation and left. Sami arrived and begged Bo to see Lucas. Bo said she couldn't, but eventually caved. He told Philip he could talk to Lucas, too. Philip asked about Paul's case. Bo suggested he ask Morgan and asked when they became friends. He hoped Philip had nothing to do with Paul's disappearance. Philip insisted he didn't. Bo promised to arrest him if he did. Hope continued to try to get Lucas to talk and asked who he was meeting at the inn. Finally, Lucas came out and Sami rushed over to him, sobbing and saying he couldn't go back to prison. She felt like she was losing him all over again. Sami and Philip asked Lucas why he left the mansion. "I have no comment," retorted Lucas. Philip got angry. Sami sensed the tension between the brothers and broke things up. Bo interrupted. It was time to cart Lucas off for processing.
Morgan ran into Chloe at the Salem Inn. She accused Chloe of saying her dad was on the docks the night of the fire because she was jealous of Morgan's relationship with Philip. Then she accused Chloe of hooking up with Lucas to make Philip jealous. Chloe opted not to listen to Morgan's "garbage" and stormed off.
Friday
Caroline knelt over Victor's unconscious body and called out his name as Max told Stephanie to phone 911. Outside, Chloe ran into Kate, who was a bit icy. Kate suggested Chloe, who's gone from Brady to Philip, stay away from Kiriakis men. Chloe noted Kate didn't know the latest and was about to tell her when they heard a siren. Kate peered into the pub and rushed inside. Steph said the paramedics were on their way. Morgan arrived in the middle of the commotion.
At the station, Hope tried to get Philip to open up about what he meant when he told Lucas he knew what he did. Philip wouldn't say, noting it was personal. Bo came in, and Philip said Lucas was stupid for breaking house arrest. Philip's cell rang and it was Morgan, telling him about Victor. Philip told Bo and they headed to the hospital. Hope said she'd finish processing Lucas. Later, Hope tried to get Lucas to open up about what he did. Lucas said he wasn't thinking, just reacting. Hope wondered, to what? Meanwhile, Chloe remembered her romp with Lucas and blamed herself for the trouble he was now in. She phoned her mom and said, because of her, Lucas was going back to jail.
Daniel ran into Chelsea, who was all excited about her new job at the hospital. Daniel said he'd love to kiss her, but Chelsea reminded him PDAs weren't allowed at work. A nurse interrupted. Dispatch called and they were bringing in a patient who suffered a possible heart attack or stroke: Victor Kiriakis.
The paramedics carted Victor out of the pub. Max told Caroline not to worry, he'd handle things at the pub. Caroline said she called Pete to come in. Max needed to concentrate on what he had to do. When Caroline left, Steph mentioned Max looking for his sister. Max reiterated that he wasn't going to do that and urged Steph to go be with Chelsea. She'd need her when her grandfather was brought into the hospital.
Daniel was on hand as Victor was wheeled in. Caroline explained he collapsed at the pub. Victor stirred, and Daniel asked him to say his name. Nothing. Daniel asked Victor to squeeze his hand. Only one side of Victor's body was able to respond. Daniel had Victor taken to a room and ordered testing.
Caroline, Bo, Kate, Chelsea and Philip anxiously waited for an update. Soon, Steph joined them. Philip filled Kate in on Lucas breaking house arrest and his sexcapades with Chloe. Soon, Daniel emerged and reported Victor had another stroke, but he was being given a drug to break up the blockage. Daniel noted Victor was asking for Caroline and Kate. The women went into his room and Victor muttered their names. Morgan arrived to offer Philip her support. Bo asked Daniel if Victor was going to make it.
Back at the pub, Max wrote letters to Steph and Caroline and asked Pete to deliver them when they returned. After a long look at his Pop's picture and flashing back to visiting his grave, Max left. Moments later, Stephanie came in and asked Pete where Max was. Pete gave her Max's note.
Caroline came out of Victor's room and instructed Bo and Philip to go in. Daniel told them to be brief. Caroline didn't want to leave, but knew she had to get back to the pub. Chelsea walked off toward Victor's room. Alone, Kate told Daniel she was glad Chelsea had him to lean on. Daniel asked if Kate was sure. Kate insisted she wanted Chelsea to be happy. That's why Chelsea could never find out what happened between the two of them.
