Monday
Chelsea visited Victor at University Hospital. As she was speaking to her sleeping grandfather about the tension between him and Bo, Daniel walked in and asked what the hell she was doing. He dragged her out and warned that upsetting Victor puts him at risk for another stroke. The doc stated that
the patient isn't up to receiving visitors and repeated his order to stay away.
At the police department, Hope was angry with Bo for keeping her out of the loop on the Hollingsworth case. The tense discussion was interrupted by a call about Philip's shooting and they rushed out.
At the DiMera mansion, paramedics worked on a bleeding and unconscious Philip. Ava walked in and Roman informed her that Eddie shot Kiriakis. Eddie blamed it on Morgan, who was sobbing nearby. He recounted that Morgan had burst in and was acting crazy; when she reached into her bag, Eddie thought she was going for a gun, so he fired first to protect John, but Philip jumped in the way. Kate arrived and cried out at the sight of her son, who was rushed to the hospital. Hope escorted Morgan to the station to give a statement.
Once the room had cleared out, Roman questioned John, suggesting that he might have set the whole thing up, but EJ confirmed Eddie's story. Roman reported that Morgan was unarmed, however John threatened to pursue a case
against her for barging into his home and harassing him unless the cops just drop the whole thing. Roman left with Eddie to file a report. Ava and EJ stayed behind with John. EJ had good news about Ava's case: The request for extradition to Ireland was denied and they got a change of venue, the trial will take place in Salem. EJ noted that the case is being presided over by Judge Fitzpatrick. John smiled, mentioning that they go way back.
At the station, Morgan remained convinced that her father is dead and that John killed him. Bo flashed back to the tape recording of Philip threatening to kill Paul. Hope asked if Paul had a problem with anyone other than John. Morgan reluctantly divulged that her father warned her to stay away from
Philip. You could see the lump in Bo's throat. Afterward, Hope accused Bo of withholding information from her and threatened to go to Abe. Bo claimed he's not hiding anything and huffed out.
At the hospital, Daniel reported to Kate and Chelsea that Philip is in recovery, but he lost a lot of blood. Dr. Jonas said that Philip has a rare blood type, Kate's not a match, so the hospital is contacting other facilities. Despite his "no visitors" policy, Daniel permitted Kate to visit Victor. This turned out to be a bad idea because Kate started blaming Victor for giving their son too much responsibility at Titan. She seemed oblivious
to the sudden beeping from the medical monitors. When Victor opened his eyes, she delivered the bombshell news that Philip was shot. Victor began gasping and Kate ran to the corridor for help. Fortunately, the doctors got him stabilized. Daniel asked Kate what had gone on, but she didn't 'fess up about what she'd said. Dr. Jonas declared that there will be no more
visitors. Soon after, Bo arrived, but the doc barred him from seeing Victor. Hope came to the hospital, but Bo was gruff with her.
Back at the mansion, Ava asked John about the judge, but he kept mum. Saying that she wanted to thank him, Ava drew John into a kiss. She brought up the judge again and John said that the judge responds favorably to campaign contributions.
Bo visited Philip's room and told his unconscious bro that he would take care of everything. Morgan arrived and sat by her hero's bedside. She said thank you and promised to show him how much he means to her. "You saved my life Philip and I love you for that.".... At the DiMera mansion Ava was still saying thank-you, but now John was shirtless and horizontal. He
interrupted the smooching to talk about Morgan. "Think of what she would do if she really knew what happened to her father," he mused.
Tuesday
Nicole (who had Pookie in her purse) sat down at the Java Café.
Marlena came in next and chatted up the barista. Trent, who was on his cell phone, entered and cut in front of a girl on line, so Marlena called him out. Nicole admired her guts. EJ stopped in to get a cool drink and asked Nic if he could join her. She said no at first, then invited him to sit down. He spied Trent and said he didn't want to make trouble for her and "Professor Bulldog". Nicole pointed out that she and EJ were friends and it was fine for them to have a drink together. "Is that what we are? Friends?" he said. She asked how he had been. He told her he was busy at work and had been spending a lot of time with Johnny. "And Sami," she added. He reminded her that he and Samantha were over. He then asked Nicole how she felt about him. She didn't want to talk about it. He offered to leave if he was making her uncomfortable. She said he wasn't the one making her uncomfortable. He asked why she kept looking at Trent. She said she wasn't. He pressed her about her feelings. She said she didn't want to compete with Sami. He assured her she wasn't. "I've been in a relationship for two years. It's been going nowhere.... You come along. I can't take my eyes off you," he said, then invited her to dinner. She said she couldn't go.
Marlena asked the barista for the 411 on Trent. "He certainly has an
inflated ego, doesn't he?" Doc Evans remarked. Nick came in and said hi to the dean. Robbins asked Nick about a formula he was working on, then poked around about Max. After, Trent went over to EJ and Nicole and noted that they spent a lot of time together. "EJ is my lawyer," Nicole reminded him. EJ got up from the table. Trent told Nicole that it looked like she and EJ were more than lawyer/client. They argued. She said she never should have gotten involved with him. "You were just as bad as my father. I wish I never met you," she spat.
Nick went on a celebrity Web site and saw that Max was in Paris. Trent saw it, too. Evan talked to Nick about the site as Nick read about a "premier party girl." Nick thought she looked familiar. Trent ordered Nicole to find out what Max was doing in France. If she didn't, he added, he would tell everyone that she and Trent were still married.
Marlena stopped EJ and called him out for threatening to take Johnny from Sami. "Your daughter threatened to take my son away from me," he replied. She warned him that she wasn't through with him.
In Marseille, Stephanie and Max arrived at Bistro Raoul to look for Melanie. They discussed what it would be like for Max to meet her. Steph then realized she had to call Steve and Kayla. Max went inside and ordered an espresso. He was stopped by a woman named Daphne, a journalist who planted a big kiss on him. Steph spied it from outside and went in to see who was kissing her boyfriend. Max explained to her that Daphne was an old friend and he wanted to see if she had any info about Melanie. While he chatted with Daphne and asked about Melanie, Steph tried to pump one of the waiters, Michel. She told Michel that she met a girl who borrowed a pen of his and forgot to give it back to her. He asked the girl's name; she said it was Melanie. He pointed to a guy named George and said that George knew Melanie. Steph approached him and asked him about Max's MIA sis. "If you see her again, tell her we are through," George said. Steph asked about her. George explained that she had exorbitant taste and loved his saving account. Steph and Max pooled information after.
Wednesday
Daniel chided Bo for visiting Victor against his orders. Bo demanded to know how his father was doing. The doc said Vic was okay, but stressed, then told Bo to leave. Victor woke up and requested to speak to Bo alone. Though Daniel was resistant, he relented. Victor asked Bo how Philip was doing. "On the mend," Bo assured his father.
In the hallway, Daniel asked Kate what she told Victor that made him go into cardiac arrest. Chelsea requested that Daniel back off her grandmother. Kate told him that she felt Victor had a right to know that Philip was in the hospital, too. An angry Daniel said his concern was Victor and that Kate shouldn't have upset him. Chelsea asked her beau what was wrong with him, but he told her to stay out of it. Chelsea told Daniel he should apologize to Kate, but Kate said she didn't want one and walked off. Chelsea confronted Daniel about his behavior, but he gave her his "my patients are my priority" speech and went to check on his godfather.
At the DiMera mansion, Ava snuggled up to John on the couch and noted that he was doom and gloomy. He apologized, explaining that the situation with Paul, Philip and Morgan was on his mind. "Philip taking a bullet wasn't part of the design," he said. Ava lamented Eddie's involvement in the situation. John assured her he had an ace up his sleeve. He took her down to the basement of the mansion and revealed that he had Paul in a secret room. She
was shocked that John had him the whole time. Paul asked John when he could get out. John said not right away, but Paul was hot to see Morgan and let her know he was okay. Paul referenced the recording of Philip threatening his life. John said that it hadn't surfaced yet and wondered why. Ava suspected Bo made the evidence disappear to protect Philip. Paul again asked about getting out. John pointed out that Philip couldn't be framed for
Paul's murder if Paul was revealed to be alive. John then spilled about Philip and Morgan's burgeoning relationship. Paul was stunned. John sent Ava on an errand. After she left, John explained to Paul what happened with Philip, Morgan and the bullet. Paul asked when he could get out, but John said he would remain there until John said so since Paul owed John for betraying him. "I gave you a second shot at life," John reminded him. "So shut up and do what I tell you."
At the hospital, a weepy Morgan sat by an unconscious Philip's bedside. She kissed him, and admitted she was falling in love with him. Chloe, who was in the doorway, cleared her throat to get Morgan's attention. Hope came in and asked to speak to Morgan. She questioned her about Paul's disappearance. Morgan told her everything she knew. Alone with Philip, Chloe assured him
that she was praying for him and would always be there for him. Morgan returned and worried that Chloe blamed her for what happened. Chloe said she didn't and just wanted Philip to be happy. She also asked Morgan not to hurt him. Morgan fantasized about having a romantic night with Philip. Philip opened his eyes.
Chloe left the room and ran into Nicole. They talked about Philip and admitted that it was strange they were becoming pals. Chloe asked for an update on Philip, but the nurse said that Philip wasn't her case; she was assigned to his brother's case. "Lucas Roberts. He's just been admitted," the nurse said. Chloe and Nicole were surprised.
Kate and Chelsea went to Java Café. Daniel joined them and he and Kate worked out their earlier problem. Daniel assured her he would fight like hell to save both Philip and Victor.... Ava arrived at Java with her laptop.... Chelsea returned to the hospital to find Victor's bed empty and Daniel sitting forlornly beside it. He explained that her grandfather was out having tests. They talked about what had happened with Kate. He told her things were "all good now." They kissed; Kate arrived and spied them.
At the station, Hope told Bo that she questioned Morgan about Paul. He covered his uneasiness when she pressed him about what else besides cash was in the envelope Paul left his daughter. During their chat, one of the cops told them about an anonymous email that had been sent to the station. He handed it to Hope. It read, "What happened to the evidence in the Paul Hollingsworth case looks like a police cover up. What do you think?"
Thursday
In Marseille, a man named Les approached Max about Melanie and said he was looking for her, too. Les explained that Melanie owed him money, but since Max was a racecar driver, he could cover the debt. Max balked, but Les threatened to harm Mel if Max didn't pay. Max refused to give him money. "Well, then you'd better pray that you find Mel before I do," Les said ominously.
At the Java Café, Trent called his daughter and left a message. After, he sat down with Nick, who was surfing the Web. Trent poked around about Max's whereabouts. Nick said that Max was out of town, but that they hadn't spoken so he didn't know where he was. Nick asked why Trent was so curious. "Max is my son," Trent replied. Nick acted appropriately stunned. The dean asked him to keep it quiet. After, Nick went back to the celebrity site and found a video blog from the "premier party girl" and realized why he thought he knew her, because it was Melanie. He called Stephanie and told her that Trent was asking about Max and that Nick thought he knew a way to find Melanie and explained that she had her party girl blog.
Sami came in to the living room at the DiMera mansion, searching for her cell phone. EJ was playing with the babies and asked her to sit and join them. They had a good time with the kids and Sami apologized for being "a little bit crazy" lately. EJ said he understood and admitted that she, Johnny and Allie meant more to him than anything in the world. She replied that she hoped they could get along for the kids' sake. He noted that Lucas was the problem between them. "Every time I see you with him, I get jealous. And every time you're with him, you're just a different person," EJ explained. Sami said it wasn't true.
At the hospital, Nicole comforted Chloe, who was rattled after seeing a beaten-up Lucas. "They should have never sent Lucas to a maximum-security prison," Chloe shuddered. Inside Lucas's room, Roman asked what happened. "I did what you asked and they almost killed me for it," Lucas replied. Turns out he was working undercover for Roman to bust a drug lord, but his cover was blown and he was beaten up. In exchange for the undercover work, Lucas is now a free man. "You are?" said Chloe, who walked in with Nicole at the end of the conversation. Roman excused himself so Lucas could fill them women in on his release condition. Nicole congratulated Lucas, then left. Chloe noted to Lucas that Nic had been acting weird all day. Once alone, Lucas told Chloe that he had been thinking of her ever since he left. "Me too," she smiled.
Roman called Sami and summoned her to the hospital. It's about Lucas, he said. He returned to Lucas's room; Chloe left. Roman asked Lucas what his plans were. Lucas admitted that while he loved Sami with all his heart, he wasn't sure they could work it out. Nicole warned Chloe that Chloe would never be happy with Lucas as long as Sami was in the picture. Nic's cell rang; it was Trent, asking her if she had any info on Max. She told him she was working on it.
Sami visited with Lucas and was horrified to see the shape he was in. He told her he was getting released from prison because of his undercover work. She was touched that he did what he did for their family. He said that he did it for the kids. She was stung, but hoped they could move forward. He said he didn't want to act like nothing happened. "I just can't forget. I can't just get rid of those feelings," he responded. "Maybe you can't forget, but I know you can forgive," she said hopefully, through tears. He said it wasn't that easy and suggested they take a break from each other for a couple of months. She was incredulous. "There is no question in my mind about what I want. I want you," she declared. He asked her to leave. She broke down in tears.
Nicole went to see EJ and said she needed legal advice. She filled him in on what was going on with Lucas's release from prison. He asked about the legal advice she needed. She admitted that she was being blackmailed by Trent. She confessed that she married him when she was still in college and that she left him one day and never filed for divorce. "Trent and I are still married," she said. He pointed out that that would make her settlement from Victor null and void.
Friday
Chloe visited Lucas and brought him snacks and magazines. Lucas teased her for bringing a woman's magazine. She said she planned to help him get back on his feet; he thanked her. Maggie came in and overheard and asked what Sami would think about that. Lucas told her that Sami knew. Chloe left. Lucas revealed to Maggie that he and Sami were on a break. She asked why. "It's exhausting trying to love Sami all the time," he explained. Maggie admitted that she heard about Chloe and Lucas's elevator tryst at the Salem Inn. “I hate this town... Nothing's a secret,” he groused, then added that being with Chloe made him think about the kind of woman he wanted to be with. "I finally realize what it's like to be in a real relationship," he said. Maggie suggested Lucas go to the Horton cabin for some R&R before making any life changing decisions and assured him that he'll be alright. Then, she asked him to rethink his feelings for Sami, noting how much he already has invested in his life with her. Chloe returned; Lucas told her he was headed into nature.
Nicole admitted to EJ that Trent forced her to stop seeing him. He said he knew Trent was bad news. EJ asked why Trent had such control over her. She explained that that had always been the dynamic in their marriage. EJ thanked her for telling him the truth, then asked where they would be if Trent wasn't in the picture. She said she would love to make things work, but she was fearful of her husband. EJ assured her they would come up with a solution and asked if there were any skeletons in Trent's closet. She revealed that Max is Trent's biological son, explaining that Max's mom died when he was really young so Trent put him up for adoption. Then she told EJ that Max is in France. EJ said he would use the information to help her bring down Trent, not as her lawyer but as her friend. She was amazed that he was being so nice to her. He advised her to get used to it.
At the station, Roman and Hope went over the anonymous e-mail that the cops received about a cover up in the Hollingsworth case. Hope decided to get the e-mail traced so they could find out where it came from. They learned it was originally sent from the Java Café but passed through the Kiriakis mansion I.P. address before it got to the station. Hope said it smelled like a setup; Roman concluded that John was involved and that he's in way over his head. Hope headed to Java and talked to Evan, the barista. He offered to give her their security footage so she could see who was using their laptop in the Caf´. Doug joined Hope and they caught up. She asked him if he would break the law to protect a family member, assuring him that she's not in trouble and that it's for a case she's working on so she can't disclose the details. Doug said it would depend on the circumstances, then reminded her of his con artist past. "It was a dark time in my life, honey, and I'm not proud of it," he told her, but added that yes, he would break the law to protect his family but noted that there's hell to pay either way. After, Hope checked out the security footage and spied Ava on it. She called Roman, who decided to put a tail on Ms. Vitali. Hope, meanwhile, made plans to catch up with Bo.
Bo visited Philip at the hospital and told him about the anonymous e-mail. Philip told Bo about the note he received that said, "I know your secret." Bo remarked that it sounded like a setup and that someone was targeting them. It's John, Philip replied. Bo noted that Philip is his brother and that he's through pretending that having Kiriakis blood doesn't mean anything to him. Bo promised that he would do anything to protect Philip, but he's now put his career and both of his families — Victor, Philip and Hope, Ciara — at risk. Philip thanked him and apologized for putting him in that position, but assured Bo that he had his back. Bo left; Morgan arrived. Philip promised to help find her father, then confessed that he heard everything she said to him when he was in his coma. She was embarrassed that he heard her declaration of love. He said it was wonderful and that had something to say to her, too. He whispered in her ear. She responded by giving him a hot kiss.
Hope went home; Bo was there. Hope checked the mail and told him they received a postcard from Shawn and Belle. He told her that he visited Philip in the hospital. She filled him in about Ava and the e-mail. "Where there's Ava, there's John," Bo said. Hope asked him point-blank if he had anything to do with the cover up. "I wanted to keep you out of this for your own good. But yeah, I tampered with evidence to protect my brother Philip," he confessed. "Oh, my God, Brady. What have you done?" she asked.
