Monday
Rafe suggested he and Sami head off to a picnic at "their spot." Sami liked the idea, but wanted to take him someplace different. Before they left, the air conditioning unit started making weird noises. Rafe tried to fix it and ended up falling off the ladder. Sami found him and started crying that she couldn't lose him, too. Rafe was fine and managed to calm Sami down. Sami apologized and asked how Rafe got through his grief for Emily. Rafe said you deal with it over time and that he thanked God every day for finding Sami. Sami told Rafe to go take a shower. She'd head to their picnic site and leave him directions how to get there. Later, a freshly showered Rafe emerged and read Sami's note. "Oh no. Not there," he said. Meanwhile, Sami arrived at the park, where she noticed someone crying out for Emily.
Maggie congratulated Melanie on passing her nursing school exam and gave her a hug. She picked up a notebook, as Mia walked in and said it was hers. Maggie started reading what Mia had written and commented on how good it was. She urged Mia to start a journal. Mia said she'd give it a try. Meanwhile, Will entered Java Cafe looking for Mia. Chad mentioned Kinsey telling him Mia was in rehab, but said he didn't buy it. Mia never even touched a cigarette in high school. Will said it was Mia's business and left. Mia arrived, and Chad told her he found out why she had to leave school so suddenly. Mia dropped a coffee cup and broke it. Chad mentioned the whole rehab thing. Mia claimed she got caught up in the wrong crowd after Chad left for reform school. Chad noticed Mia's hand was bleeding and took hold of it as Will returned. Mia went to tend to her cut, leaving Chad and Will to bicker. Mia returned saying the boss told her to go home. Will offered to drive her, but Mia declined. Will warned Chad to stay away from Mia. Chad muttered he wasn't buying Mia's rehab story. Mia returned home and typed into her laptop about what happened. She decided people thinking she was in rehab was better than knowing she was pregnant. She didn't want Chad finding out she gave their baby away.
EJ told Nicole he ran into Mia and Will at the park and that they discussed Grace. Alone, Nicole told Stefano she had Mia under control, but worried about Rafe and Sami. Stefano assured her Rafe and Sami would get what they had coming to them. Nicole thanked him as EJ walked in and asked what the thanks was for. Stefano said they were discussing the trust fund he set up for Sydney. Nicole left to take the baby for a walk.
Arianna brought Brady a protein shake; then, decided they start over. The pair reintroduced themselves. Brady suggested testing their feelings for each other and planted a kiss on Arianna. Nicole watched through the pub window. Brady told Arianna he had to go to a meeting and left. Nicole asked Brady if he was okay. He insisted he was. Later, Brady ran into Maggie on the pier. He mentioned kissing Arianna and that it was a mistake. Nicole entered the pub and started talking to Arianna about Rafe. Arianna said she didn't gossip about her brother. Melanie came in. Arianna told her to stop trying to fix her up with Brady. Arianna got a call and told the person she would "make it happen." Melanie wondered what the mysterious call was about. Arianna made up an excuse. Melanie could tell Arianna was lying.
Alone, EJ asked Stefano what was going on. Nicole already knew about the trust fund. Stefano admitted he and Nicole were worried about how Grace's death affected EJ. He noted how loyal Nicole had been and how her only concern was easing EJ's pain. Stefano urged EJ to get Sami out of his head. Nicole returned. EJ informed her that Stefano told him everything. Nicole panicked, insisting she could explain. EJ stopped her, noting Stefano told him how worried she was about him since Grace died. EJ admitted Nicole's concern touched him, but told her not to keep secrets. In the end they always came out.
Tuesday
Daniel found Philip doing pushups in the park. He assumed it was to get his breakup with Stephanie out of his system. The two guys proceeded to work out. Philip mentioned hearing Daniel was leaving town. "Is it woman troubles?" he asked. "Something like that," retorted Daniel, running off.
Kate feigned concern for Chloe, while she got ready to leave the hospital. She asked if Chloe felt up to taping the show, since it was the last day Daniel would be around. "You won't have to be tempted by him any more," cooed Kate. Chloe was relieved Daniel was leaving. Kate asked about Lucas. Chloe said they talked and she told him not to rush home. She was fine.
Melanie came into the kitchen and she and Maggie discussed Philip and Steph's breakup. Soon, Melanie returned all dressed up, noting she was off to dinner with Nathan. Kate and Chloe arrived and met Chris and Maggie. While Chloe, Maggie and Chris went off to fetch a scarf, Kate poisoned a plate of brownies. Daniel walked in and went off with Chris. Kate offered Chloe a brownie. Chloe ate it; then, asked Daniel about the woman he was dating. Daniel swore there was no other woman. Chloe admitted dreaming about Daniel when she was in the hospital and that her marriage to Luc as was a mistake, because she loved him. They kissed and Chris watched. Meanwhile, Kate was in the park. She put on gloves, took out her doctored tape recording, and dialed Maggie from Chloe's phone.
Steph found Nathan at the nurses' station and said she was working on a press release about the new class of interns. She wanted to interview him. Daniel arrived. Nathan told him he'd miss having him around. Suddenly, Nathan realized he was late to meet Melanie. He left, and Philip arrived. Philip explained he was there for a hospital board meeting. Steph realized they'd be bumping into each other a lot and hoped they could be friends one day. Philip wasn't sure he could handle that. Melanie arrived at the pub and told Arianna she was going to dinner with a friend. Arianna realized it was Nathan. Finally, Nathan arrived, but he was soon paged by the hospital. Melanie volunteered to wait for him. Meanwhile, Philip walked out of the board meeting and invited a woman to join him at the pub. She declined. Nathan saw Steph's reaction and realized Philip was her ex-fiancée. Maggie arrived at the hospital, when she got a phone call. To her surprise, she heard Chloe telling Daniel she couldn't do this any more, and Daniel responding if he couldn't have her no one could. Maggie was stunned and asked if Chloe was there. Back at the pub, Melanie waited for Nathan. Arianna called her on wishing she were really on a date with Philip. Melanie pooh-poohed it, when in walked a drunken Philip inviting her for a ride in his Ferrari.
Roman showed up at Sami's with a welcome home gift for Johnny. Rafe informed him the twins were with Caroline. Roman saw all the boxes and realized Rafe had moved in. Rafe assumed Roman didn't approve. Roman noted his only gripe with Rafe was the lies he told regarding Grace. Roman admitted thinking Rafe might be the first man up to the task of handling Sami. Rafe promised to protect Sami with his life. At the park, Sami spied a woman crying out Emily's name and approached her. The woman admitted she was having a hard time finding peace in this place, because it was filled with memories of her sister, Emily. Sami mentioned recently losing her daughter, Grace, and introduced herself. The woman noted she was Meredith Hudson. Sami realized she was Rafe's Emily's sister. She asked how Emily died. Meredith didn't want to talk about it and left. Rafe arrived and told Sami about Roman's visit. Soon, the pair were drinking wine and kissing. Sami stopped things, noting she had to get the twins. She'd meet Rafe at home. Later, Rafe wondered why Sami hadn't returned, yet. Turned out Sami was at the pub asking Roman for his help. She needed him to find out everything he could about a Meredith Hudson.
Wednesday
A drunk Philip invited Melanie for a ride in his Ferrari. Melanie said she was on a date. Philip told her to break it and grabbed another drink. When Philip went to leave, Melanie stopped him, asking how many drinks he'd had. Melanie took Philip's keys and headed off with him. Soon, they were at the Horton cabin looking for Philip's watch. Melanie wanted to take Philip home, but he wanted to stay. Melanie brought up Stephanie. Philip went off about Steph not being able to deal with who he is. He would always love her, but was moving on. Melanie was intrigued. Meanwhile, Nathan returned to the Pub to meet Melanie. Arianna told him she left with Philip. Back at the cabin, Melanie told Philip she wasn't going to be his rebound girl, but when Philip moved in for a kiss, she couldn't resist.
Will arrived at the DiMera mansion to talk to Nicole. He thanked her for making it possible for Sami to be with Johnny again. Nicole swore it was EJ's decision. Still, Will realized Nicole helped. Nicole asked if Will and Sami were doing okay. Will said he sometimes heard his mom crying over Grace. Nicole said that pain wouldn't go away for a while. After Will left, Nicole broke down.
Chad pressed Mia for details about her rehab stint. Mia dodged. Chad knew Mia never touched drugs and called her story "lame." He vowed to find out what was going on. Nicole arrived. Mia asked if EJ would be okay if he ever found out the truth about Sydney, rambling on about Chad. Mia noted he wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted. Nicole vowed to stop him. Later, Mia sat in the park, typing on her laptop. Will came by and sensed she was upset. Mia said Will deserved to know everything. Chad ran into Nicole, who announced she was his "worst nightmare." She told Chad he was the reason Mia got into drugs. Nicole threatened Chad and warned to stop bothering Mia — or else.
Chloe told Daniel she was leaving Lucas, because she loved him and wanted to be with him forever. Daniel pulled her into a kiss. Chris knocked on the door, anxious to start taping. Daniel wanted to run off with Chloe, but she said she had to level with Lucas, first. Chris knocked again; this time entering Maggie's kitchen and noticing how intense things were. Meanwhile, Kate played the doctored recording of Daniel threatening Chloe into Chloe's phone as a stunned Maggie listened on the other end. Maggie told Hope she thought something terrible had happened. Bo and Hope left to check things out. Kate returned to the shoot at Maggie's in time to see Chloe collapse. Daniel rushed Chloe to the hospital and vowed not to leave her side, as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
Bo and Hope arrived at Maggie's. They asked Kate and Maggie why Daniel would be angry with Chloe. Maggie explained they'd had an affair. Kate said it was over. Chris revealed how Daniel made everyone wait while he talked to Chloe and noted how awful Chloe looked afterwards. Bo decided to have the brownies tested at the lab. Kate informed Bo that Daniel quit the show and was leaving town. Bo wanted Daniel's apartment searched. At the hospital, Daniel asked Chloe if she ate or drank anything before taping. She mentioned the brownies. Daniel ordered a nurse to call Bo and tell him he suspected they were dealing with an ingested substance. Chloe started convulsing. When she stopped, her blood pressure dropped dramatically. Daniel vowed he wouldn't lose her. Chloe's pressure began rising, as Lexie walked in. Back at Daniel's apartment, the cops discovered the planted bottle of leukocystine. Bo phoned Hope and filled her in. Lexie told Daniel they found elevated levels of leukocystine in Chloe's blood. Daniel ordered a medicine to counteract it. Lexie explained the cops were now involved in this. "They damn well should be," retorted Daniel. Hope told Kate and Maggie the police may have found damning evidence in Daniel's apartment. Daniel sat at Chloe's bedside waiting for the drug he administered to take effect.
Thursday
Hope told Maggie and Kate the cops found damning evidence in Daniel's apartment and he was going to have to be treated as a suspect. Kate remembered back to her poisonous plot. Inside Chloe's room, Daniel implored her to fight. Bo arrived, and Hope told him Chloe was poisoned with leukocystine. Bo couldn't believe Daniel would do something like this. Kate told Maggie she hadn't been able to reach Lucas and was worried about how he'd take the news. Bo entered Chloe's room, announcing he was there on police business and hauled Daniel off for questioning. Daniel explained he and Chloe fell in love before she married Lucas, but she decided to go through with the wedding. He insisted Chloe was faithful to Lucas. But right before Chloe collapsed, she decided she was going to leave Lucas for him. "I heard a conflicting story," said Bo. He told Daniel about the phone call Maggie received where Daniel threatened Chloe. Hope questioned Kate, who went on about all this being her fault. She pushed Daniel and Chloe into doing the show, even though they'd had an affair. Lexie overheard and said now she understood why Chloe asked her to keep Daniel away from her. Hope was stunned. Daniel swore he did nothing to hurt Chloe and wanted to get back to tending to her. Bo brought up the leukocystine Chloe was poisoned with and said the cops found a bottle of it in Daniel's apartment. Lexie told Hope about Chloe repeating she didn't want Daniel near her. Then, she mentioned the poisoned apple. Kate volunteered that it came from Daniel's housewarming gift. Daniel swore he would never hurt Chloe. Bo said Daniel was a suspect and had to stay away from her. Daniel flipped. Suddenly, Chloe's monitors went off. The crash cart team ran into her room, but the cops held back Daniel. Lexie worked to save the patient, as Daniel screamed out for Chloe.
Will probed Mia about why she was so upset. Mia admitted doing things at Salem West that she wasn't proud of. Will mentioned the drugs. Mia said it was something else. Chad ran up and he Will started exchanging insults. Will left to take a phone call, and Mia remembered a hot romp with Chad. She told Chad to leave her alone. Chad said he'd met Nicole and that she told him to stay away from Mia. Chad apologized, believing it was his fault Mia started doing drugs. He asked her for another chance. Will returned and Chad split. Mia explained there was something Will needed to know about Chad. They didn't just date. They were "together." "You had a boyfriend. So what," said Will.
Stephanie saw Nathan at the pub and assumed Melanie stood him up. Nate swore Melanie had every right to ditch him. He was late, and when he finally showed up, he got summoned back to the hospital. Steph wanted to fill Nathan in on Melanie, if he was considering involved with her. Nathan said he already knew all about Melanie, but wanted to make up his own mind about her. Steph backed off and admitted that maybe Melanie had changed. Nathan decided to tell Steph who Melanie left the pub with: Philip. Steph was clearly annoyed. Nathan got another page and had to head back to the hospital.
At the cabin, things were hot and heavy between Melanie and Philip, until Melanie put on the brakes. "We can't do this. You're drunk. You just broke up with Stephanie," she said. Philip swore this wasn't a rebound thing. Melanie said there was kind of someone else in her life; a cute doctor. They were in the middle of a date when Philip showed up. Melanie said she went off with Philip because he needed her. "I do need you," smiled Philip. "Get over yourself," retorted Melanie, noting she had been attracted to Philip, but that was over now. They were just friends. Besides, she cared about Steph. Later, back in town, Philip apologized to Melanie, and they agreed to keep what happened quiet. Melanie said Philip would have to be totally over Steph, before anything like that happened again. Melanie ran into Nathan, as he left the pub. Then, she ran into an angry Steph, who called her a "two-faced bitch" and accused Melanie of wanting Philip. Back home, Philip poured himself a drink, realized how meaningless h is life was without Steph, and threw his glass.
Friday
Nicole phoned Mia and left a couple of frantic messages for her about Chad, while EJ told Harold to give the staff the night off. Nicole found Sydney in her playpen alone and freaked that Mary had left her alone. Anyone could have slipped in and taken her, Nicole fumed. Nicole said Mary was reckless and wanted her fired. EJ told Nicole she was overreacting and managed to calm her down. Later, a much more relaxed Nicole got hot and heavy with EJ. The action moved to the pair's bedroom, as they frolicked and kissed. Nicole spotted her cell phone sitting across the room. EJ noticed and asked if she was expecting a call. Nicole said she wasn't.
"You in a bad mood or are you christening the house?" asked Brady, as he witnessed a drunken Philip toss his glass across the room. Brady surmised this was about a certain woman. "Make that two women," corrected Philip. He not only blew it with Steph, but Melanie, too. Philip vowed it wouldn't happen again. He was swearing off women. Brady didn't believe him and left.
Steph accused Melanie of sleeping with Philip and called her "a pathetic slut." Melanie denied it. She wondered if that was why Nathan blew her off. Steph admitted telling Nathan to stay away from Melanie. Melanie reminded Steph that she tried to get her and Philip back together. Steph responded by calling Melanie a "conniving whore." Melanie exploded. "You of all people should know what I went through as a child!" she yelled. Steph backed off. Melanie swore she was just trying to be a friend to Philip and keep him from driving drunk. She turned to leave, walked into Brady, and started crying. Brady suggested she tell Steph exactly what went down between her and Philip. Melanie explained that Philip came onto her, but she turned him down because Steph's friendship meant more to her. Steph apologized, and the girls hugged. Later, Brady sat with Melanie, who got a call from the hospital. She told Brady about Chloe, and the pair headed off.
The police held back Daniel, as Lexie tried to revive Chloe. Suddenly, she flatlined. Daniel implored Chloe to come back to him and her heart started beating. Maggie was thrilled for the miracle. Kate, not so much. Bo suggested Daniel call a lawyer, while Kate called Philip. Lexie emerged, and Maggie thanked her for saving Chloe's life. Lexie said it was Daniel's miracle that saved her. Kate wondered about Chloe's prognosis. Lexie admitted she might not recover. Daniel asked if Bo really thought he did this. Lexie informed Daniel that Chloe was stable. He told Lexie some procedures to try next. Bo tried to go with Lexie, but Bo stopped him and told him to call a lawyer. Philip arrived, and Kate explained what happened. Hope announced that the druggist said a 40ish Caucasian male with light hair picked up the leukocystine. Bo showed Daniel the prescription and asked if it was his handwriting. Daniel said the handwriting resembled his, but he didn't write the prescription. Bo wondered how the bottle of leukocystine ended up in Daniel's apartment. Daniel said Chloe and Lucas went there to pick up his suit for the TV shoot. Hope mentioned Chloe insisting Daniel not treat her. "If she was going to leave Lucas for you, why would she do that?" asked Bo. Hope brought up the apple. Daniel admitted ordering the fruit basket, but swore he didn't poison any apple. "Someone did. Someone who wanted Chloe dead," said Bo. Nathan found Maggie crying in the park and comforted her. She explained that Chloe was poisoned and Daniel was being accused of it. After, Kate told Maggie about how upset she was by all of this. Bo, Hope and Daniel walked into the waiting area. Bo said his gut was telling him someone else had a motive to hurt Chloe. Daniel flashed back to Kate telling him she knew about his and Chloe's affair and Chloe preparing to eat the apple. Daniel walked toward Kate and muttered, "You!"
Philip returned home and asked Henderson to track down Lucas. The doorbell rang. Philip answered it to find Steph.
