Monday
At the hospital, Vivian complained to a nurse that it was dreary there. Daniel approached her and grabbed her arm. He demanded to know why she was bothering Chloe. Vivian wasn't threatened and intimated something was going on with Chloe and Carly that he didn't know about it. He warned her to steer clear of the women in his life — or else. He then left Chloe a message, imploring her to come see him at the hospital or call him.
Carly told Chloe she would keep quiet about the one-night stand if a paternity test proved the baby was Daniel's. A rattled Chloe insisted it was. Carly wasn't so sure. Chloe admitted she really didn't know whose child it was. Carly agreed to keep quiet, but pointed out they both had a lot to lose by doing so. Carly headed back to the hospital, where she ran into Daniel. He told her about his run-in with Vivian. They went to the Brady Pub, where Carly danced around specifics of the conversation she had with Chloe earlier. He was happy they had worked things out, then thanked her for having his back. Gulp, thought Dr. M.
Melanie didn't understand why Philip had a strange reaction to Chloe and Daniel's pregnancy news. He covered that he thought Chloe couldn't get pregnant. He then asked how far along Chloe was. "Why would that matter?" Melanie asked, noting it was a "weird" question. He pointed out that it might be too early to be talking about it. Melanie got called into the hospital, so Philip told her he would go visit Chloe. Turned out, Melanie wasn't needed at the hospital and went home. Vivian popped over to say hello, which unsettled the teen. Vivian tried to explain that her marriage to Victor wasn't working out as well as she planned and thought if she could engineer a Melanie/Phil move back to the mansion, things would be happier at home. Melanie refused, reminding Vivian that she tried to kill her. Vivian issued a serious warning about Melanie trusting Carly, then stormed off. Melanie went to the Pub, where she saw her mother, very upset. She asked Carly if she was okay. Carly admitted she wasn't, but covered that it was about a patient.
Philip arrived at Chloe's apartment and asked when she planned to tell him he was going to be a father. She asked how he knew she was pregnant. Melanie, he revealed. She admitted that the paternity was in question. Big sigh from Philip. Chloe explained it was all in Carly's hands now, because she wanted Chloe to get a paternity test. He wondered what would happen if the baby wasn't Daniel's. She didn't want to go there. He promised her they would get through everything together. He added that if the baby was his, he wouldn't be able to lie to Melanie. She implored him to keep mum.
Sami ran into a shirtless Rafe at the beach. He explained he was going for a swim. She told him she had been on a family picnic. He said he knew from Gabi. He spied the penguin stuffed animal she was looking for. She thanked him, then said the kids still loved the toys. She also told him Johnny loved the FBI jacket and asked about him. Rafe admitted he missed the kids. She tried to talk about their relationship. He noted that it didn't matter why they weren't together — it was the reality and nothing was going to change. Before she could reply, Gabi came upon them and broke the moment. Sami took off. Once alone with her brother, Gabi told Rafe that Sami admitted to her that she missed him. "I know she does. Hell, I miss her, too," he replied.
Nicole confronted EJ at the pier about his kidnapping Sydney. "Do you think anybody will believe this ridiculous fable?" he bluffed. She congratulated him on playing it so flawlessly. He still denied it but she vowed he would pay. He told her she had no proof. Ah, but she did, she smiled, and produced the tape recorder. She played him what she had on it, which clearly incriminated him. EJ was stricken. He grabbed the device and broke it. She told him that she had copies of the tapes and letters to go with them to send to Abe, Bo and all of the other legal authorities just in case he or Stefano did something to her. He asked her to name her price. She claimed all she wanted was his destruction. While they were talking, Sami approached them. "Oh, Sami, hey. Just the person I wanted to see," said Nicole.
Tuesday
At Chloe's apartment, Philip agreed with Chloe that they have to keep his possible paternity a secret — just as Daniel entered to hear the word "secret." He, of course, asked what's going on. "We have to tell him the truth," Philip said. Chloe held her breath. Phil quickly covered, claiming that he found out Chloe was pregnant from Melanie and just wanted to come over and congratulate her, even though it's supposed to be a secret. Daniel wasn't buying it and asked why the duo was acting like it was such a big deal. Chloe stepped in to say they were just acting silly. Phil rushed out before Daniel asked any more questions. "The baby has to be his; it has to be," he whispered to himself nervously. Daniel, meanwhile, let Chloe know that he still disapproves of Phil because he's too pushy and worries about Mel. Then he called Chloe out on letting Philip tie her up in knots and admitted he's threatened by him. "I wish, for once, you'd put a little distance between you and Philip," he added. Chloe bristled at the thought and reminded Daniel that they're just friends. They argued over the issue, especially after Chloe said he was being unreasonable. Daniel then pointed out all the ways their relationship is inappropriate, considering Phil's married.
At the lake, Melanie assured Arianna that the cops will catch whoever mugged Brady. She asked who else was going to join them there and then Brady arrived. They were annoyed with Mel, who explained she had to do something to bring them back together. "If Philip and I can get through all the garbage we've been through, then so can you," she explained, prompting Ari and Brady to shoot each other a knowing look. Ari and Brady were clearly uncomfortable and both wanted to split but Mel wanted to make them admit they love each other before they did and try to work things out. They grudgingly agreed to talk; Mel went home. Ari pleaded with Brady to believe that she is innocent. "You have to know; Nicole did it," she told him. They bickered over EJ posting her bail and Brady admitted that he can relate more to Nicole than Ari.
Sami approached EJ and Nicole at the pier just as Nicole was trying to blackmail him for Sydney's kidnapping. Nicole prompted EJ to tell Sami the truth but she claimed to already know what it's about: Nicole spinning some stupid story just to make Sami turn against EJ. She railed at Nicole for trying to stir the pot with regard to Arianna. Nicole scoffed; EJ tried to get Sami to leave with him but she wanted to know what Nicole's really talking about. Nicole was about to spill when Sami took a call and stepped away. Nicole continued to threaten EJ with the tape, but his feathers weren't ruffled. He pointed out that you can't introduce new evidence into court because it can be easily tampered with. So, he told her to go ahead and tell Sami whatever she wants because she won't believe a word of it, anyway, adding that if Nicole thought she could've convinced Sami she would've done it already. Nic was annoyed by EJ's smug behavior as he pointed over to Gabi and Will and commented on his happy family. So, she threatened to go through other channels to ruin him and disappeared for a minute. EJ and co. were about to depart the pier when Nic returned to say that she has a great idea for a segment, which her producer approved and a camera crew is coming over right now. "I want your family up close and personal when I tell all of Salem what kind of a monster you are," Nic sneered. EJ was visibly distraught.
Philip happily greeted Melanie at home. She was surprised when he presented her with a bouquet of daisies (her favorite), pointing out that it's their five-month anniversary. She noticed he was preoccupied; he admitted he had some explaining to do to Daniel because he went to go congratulate Chloe. Mel said it wasn't a big deal and was just thankful that they tell each other everything. Mel revealed she got a visit earlier from Vivian, which irked Phil, who wanted to get Mel a bodyguard. "Vivian knows the rules!" Mel told him to calm down and said she wants to discuss their future, adding that she thinks they need to move out of Maggie's place and into their own little cottage with an extra room for a nursery. He was thrown for a loop. Mel explained she's been inspired by Daniel and Chloe's baby situation and wants a family of her own in the future.
Back at the lake, Ari got a call about taping a segment at the Pier and had to rush off. Brady wanted to know if they should continue their conversation later. "I think we're done, Brady," she said. Ari then showed up with a camera at the pier, miffed when she saw that Nicole was the one who scheduled the segment. EJ was Brady also showed up. "You're not gonna want to miss this," Nic grinned.
Back at Chloe's, Daniel got over his fit when Chloe turned the conversation to Vivian and that she was set up into thinking Daniel was having an affair with Carly. He was outraged. Chloe apologized; Daniel felt bad about all the things he said about Phil and took them back. Chloe was emotional and took the opportunity to try and tell him the truth. "I feel like I betrayed you. I felt so all alone and I thought you and Carly were having an affair. I'm so sorry!" Daniel stopped her, however, and said he's glad that Phil was there for her when he wasn't. He urged her to stop feeling guilty and pulled her into a passionate kiss. Chloe didn't say a word more; they had sex. Afterward, Chloe continued to fret to herself while Daniel hopped in the shower. "He's so happy. He can't find out; it'd be the end of everything."
At the pier, Nicole got herself camera-ready and the tape started rolling as EJ and a confused Sami looked on. "We're here to talk about what has been, up until now, an unsolved mystery," Nic smiled as she addressed the live audience....
Wednesday
Bo called Carly and asked when she was coming home. Soon, she promised. After they hung up, Justin appeared at Bo's door to talk about Hope. Justin noted that Hope wasn't doing as well as Bo thought she was, adding that she needed someone by her side and he wanted to be that guy. Bo accused him of making his "final move" on Hope. Justin felt they were moving forward, but Bo laughed ruefully that Hope considered Justin a friend. The men faced off. Carly walked in just as Bo was saying that he cared about Hope. Justin excused himself. Dr. M asked Bo why it bothered him that Justin was moving on with Hope. He said because it was with Justin. She understood. They happily declared their love, then had sex. While in bed, she asked if he had regrets about their relationship. He insisted he didn't.
Hope opened the door at the Kiriakis manse to Adrienne, who told her they needed to talk. She asked about Hope and Justin hugging. Hope had no idea what she was talking about and insisted nothing was going on. Adrienne was confused by Hope's denials; Hope was equally baffled by Adrienne's accusations.
Dr. Baker read the paper and noted that he was sorry Arianna took the fall for him. He then turned into Nicole's broadcast while waiting to hear from Hope. Nicole went live on camera at the pier to announce EJ's role in Sydney's kidnapping. He stood by nervously, then interrupted the broadcast. He took the mic from Nicole and said he was sorry for being fool enough to fall for Nicole, who kidnapped Sydney. He called her a pathological liar on air and said her report was fabrication. She claimed she had proof. Arianna then called cut because the broadcast was interrupted by something going on at the Salem Zoo. Nicole was peeved but realized it didn't matter since her most important audience — Sami — was right there. EJ shut her up, then took off when Brady arrived. He pressed Nic to tell him what was going on, but she slipped away, leaving Brady alone with Arianna. They argued.
At the DiMera mansion later, EJ suggested taking a long vacation with Sami and the kids. She found the timing suspicious in light of Nicole's declaration that she has something on EJ.
Dr. Baker called Nicole and warned her that it might not be the best idea to poke Elvis right now. "Don't worry, Dick," she assured him. She headed chez DiMera to talk to Sami. "EJ is lying to you, Sami," she said. "Don't you want to know why?"
Abe visited Dr. Spaceman, and explained he couldn't sleep. The doc wrote him a prescription for sleeping pills. Abe was reluctant to take them and asked about the side effects. He explained some of them, saying that there were more for women. (Like Hope.) At the hospital later, Lexie spied the pill prescription and was worried.... Hope then visited the doc to get a refill on her pills. He noted it was the third time. She pointed out that her grandmother died and she was having trouble sleeping. He asked if she was having side effects, but she said nothing other than weird dreams. He tried to warn her about others, but she just took the prescription and left.
Hope and Justin ran into each other at the Brady Pub. He revealed that he told Bo that he and Hope were growing closer. Before Hope could answer, Adrienne interrupted, so a frazzled Hope hurried out. She ran into the Carvers in the hospital and they chatted. After the couple left, Bo and Carly entered and kissed openly. Hope was visibly upset.
Thursday
Hope oversaw Carly and Bo smooching and making dinner plans at the hospital. After Bo stepped away, Hope approached Carly, who was annoyed by her confrontational tone. Hope said she knows Bo better than anyone and warned Carly against their public displays of affection, especially considering he's still Hope's husband. She claimed to be protecting Bo's image, and not out of jealousy. "You say that you love Bo, then maybe you should start thinking about what you're doing to his life," she sniffed, within earshot of Bo, who asked Hope to step aside for a little chat. They went to the waiting room to discuss what happened. Hope defended her actions; Bo let her know he doesn't approve of her harassing Carly at the nurses station. They bickered over their damaged marriage; Hope was exhausted and frustrated. "You're absolved. And I promise to be as sweet as pie to Carly. As for this conversation, we're done," she sighed. After, Carly tried to console Bo.
At the Brady Pub, Adrienne voiced her concerns about Hope's odd behavior to Justin, who told she was out of line for suggesting such a thing. Justin admitted he's concerned but was certain that Adrienne was wrong. "You have to be," he sighed. She stormed out in a huff. Meanwhile, Chad asked Kate about his mom's past, what she was like and their friendship. Kate sidestepped his questions and advised him to ask his mother instead.
At the DiMera manse, EJ was on edge as he made calls to make vacation arrangements. Then he lost his cool in front of little Johnny who just wanted some help with a puzzle. EJ apologized to the boy and said it just shows they really need to go away for a while but added that he needs to take care of something first. Meanwhile, downstairs, Nicole begged Sami to believe her that EJ has done something terrible and she needs to know for Sydney's sake, but Sami wouldn't have it and railed at Nic. She accused Nic of being jealous and trying to ruin everyone else's lives and threatened to call the cops if she didn't leave. EJ entered and angrily demanded to know what Nicole is doing there. She reminded him that the tape will go public if he tries to harm her and continued to needle him about why and how she'll blow the lid off his lies. EJ was outraged, much to Nic's delight. "I enjoy seeing you sweat. See you around. Enjoy your freedom while it lasts," she grinned and left. Later, Sami told EJ she knows Nic isn't just stirring the pot without reason and suggested EJ just tell her what it's all about instead.
Victor overheard Brady say that he and Ari have broken up for good and it was a mutual decision. Brady swallowed his pride and told Victor he was right; Victor said he's proud of him and says he hopes he finds someone who makes him happy. "Like grandma Viv makes you happy?" he chortled. "Bite me," Victor countered. Afterward, Nic arrived and asked Brady what's going on but he didn't want to talk about it. He was more interested in the EJ situation and offered to help her take EJ down. "I don't want my sister drinking anymore of his Kool-Aid," he added. Nic fantasized about spilling the beans to Brady about EJ's responsibility for Sydney's kidnapping and all the different possible reactions she'd get from him if she does, from anger to disbelief, before deciding that it's not a good idea to tell him at all. He assured her that he trusts her and urged her to spill it, anyway.
Madeline and Bill celebrated her new appointment. She paused when he jokingly asked if there are any skeletons in her closet he should know about. Then Kate called to say that they have a big problem regarding her son. Madeline said she'd take care of it and covered when Bill inquired but he was on to her. Later, Madeline and Chad met at the pier, where she sat him down for a little chat and told him about the importance of being discreet and the trappings of being manipulated. Chad could sense that Kate had called his mom. Then he called her out for being a whore (literally) in her past. Meanwhile, Kate found Bill for a little chat of their own, adding that her past relationship with Madeline might be detrimental. Bill was clueless, much to Kate's surprise and wondered who, if not Bill, went to Chad.
Back at the DiMera manse, EJ told Sami that a pilot is waiting for them and the kids to go to Monaco right away. She was dubious and wondered why he's being so adamant about the trip, surmising it has to do with Nicole. "'Fess up!" she said. EJ told her that the flooding at the Townhouse was his fault, so she'd stay at the mansion. Sami was upset but was won over by EJ's charming defense that he couldn't bear to be away from her. Then he brought up the trip again. Sami didn't want to go and let Nic think that she was getting to them. So, she told EJ to go alone or stay at home.
At home, Hope was stressing about the Bo situation and quickly downed some pills. Nighttime Hope woke up and went out on the prowl, happily greeting a very confused Carly. Meanwhile, Adrienne stopped by Bo's to talk to him about how worried she is where Hope is concerned, telling him about Hope acted like nothing had happened after she kissed Justin.
Victor went to the pub for a Martini and ran into Justin, who asked if he thinks Hope really needs some help. "She's fine. She just needs to be left alone," Victor assured.
Friday
Nicole made Brady promise to forgive her before she spilled all. Suitably wary, Brady told her to cough it up. Nicole was still having a tough time, reminding Brady that she's in love with him and it might change everything between them if she 'fessed up. Shutting Brady down months before was "the biggest regret of my life," she admitted. They moved on to talking about Ari and, yes, Nicole still didn't tell Brady what she knew! She asked if there was a chance Brady still loves her. He'd always "cared" about her, he hedged. To help him along, Nicole kissed him! At Casa DiMera, Ari walked in on EJ having a hissy fit about Nicole and they discussed the possibility of Nicole setting Ari up. Sensing EJ was out of sorts, Ari moved to leave. When EJ told her he was going out of town, she wondered if he was in trouble. EJ dismissed that notion and reassured her. She hugged him and wished him good luck with everything. Elsewhere, Brady pulled back from Nicole's kiss and said he'd gotten "caught up in the moment." Nicole then laughed off what she had on EJ, claiming it was a rumor from the Internet, and said she wanted to focus on the positive things in her life. After they parted company, Nicole was escorted to EJ by Marco the hot DiMera flunkie. Later, on the beach, Brady had a steamy fantasy about Nicole...and a wet Arianna walked up. Sparks and wistful looks flew, before Ari wished Brady happiness and walked way. At Casa DiMera, Nicole and EJ traded snark about the Sydnapping and Nicole said she's not going to reveal what EJ did.
On the pier, Chad lashed out at Madeline for being a "whore," and she slapped him. Madeline apologized for hitting her son, and Chad revealed that Will had overheard her and Kate talking about their past. Kate, who'd gotten an urgent call from Lexie, rushed to University Hospital, where Stefano was in a bed, as still as death. Don't worry, he was just asleep! He revealed he'd run out of insulin and decided to take a nap. Lexie and Kate weren't havin' his lightheartedness and hovered over the cranky supervillain. Alone with his wife, Stefano realized she'd called Madeline and wondered why. Kate explained that Chad was suspicious. Stefano hoped that Madeline wouldn't tell her son anything, reminding "Katherine" that his part in the death of the congressman couldn't get out. Elsewhere, Madeline tried to deny Chad's accusations. Chad insisted Will wouldn't try to hurt him with this and called her a hypocrite. Madeline begged Chad not to speak of any of this to his father, and then gingerly confirmed what Will had said. She explained how she'd hooked for money to get through law school and as she kept talking, Chad realized she had yet more secrets. They kept arguing and when Chad shook Madeline's arm off of him...she lost her balance and tumbled down the stairs!
Adrienne told Bo about Hope and Justin kissing and Hope seeming "cavalier" about it, like it had never happened. "She's acting like a whole different person. Where the Hell did Hope go?" Bo demanded. He blamed himself for the changes in her. Out and about, Carly ran into Sleeping Pill Hope, who was downright polite. "The woman who yelled at you...it wasn't me!" she confided, before quickly explaining that being around Bo made her lash out and she didn't blame Carly for the affair. She even said Carly was a hero to her for how she'd handled Lawrence! Carly was baffled, and asked Hope if she wanted to get coffee and talk further. Hope made excuses and left. Carly made a beeline to Bo to tell him about the oddities. He related Adrienne's story about Hope and Justin's kiss and, together, they tried to suss it all out. Across town, Nighttime Hope blasted Baker for dropping the ball on her plans, insisting she'd have her revenge on Bo. A worried Baker wished she'd reconsider. Hope let slip that she planned to disappear, and he suggested they blow town together. Baker begged her to tell him her plan. "I'm going to kill him," she said. "I'm going to murder my husband."
