Nathan longed to have a connection with Melanie. He asked if he could call later and she responded, "I don't think so."

Nicole learned from the officer accompanying Taylor that she was accused of stealing a woman's wallet on the bus. Taylor explained that it was a mistake; she accidentally picked up the wallet off the bus floor and mixed it in with her stuff. Nicole dismissed the officer, then demanded to know what Taylor was doing there. "Why would you ask that?" wondered a puzzled Taylor. "You did get my letters, didn't you?" Nicole replied that she didn't. Taylor couldn't understand why Nicole seemed so miserable, considering she was about to get married. Nicole insisted she was happy, particularly because she had Sydney back. Taylor presented Nicole with a wedding gift: a framed photo of them when they were kids. "It's a fine gift, thank you," Nicole stammered, clearly disheartened. "Nicole, I came all the way to Salem to see you," Taylor asserted, who sensed that Nicole was rocked by her unexpected visit. Taylor offered to help Nicole with her wedding. Nicole expressed her resentment that Taylor was unavailable when she needed emotional support. Taylor apologized and said her only desire was to reconnect. "I hate the word reconnect," Nicole replied. Nicole offered to take Taylor to lunch and learned that Taylor had hopes of a long stay in Salem. Nicole said Taylor could't stay. She instructed Taylor to catch the next bus out of town.

EJ and Stefano were thrilled by Rafe 2's remarkable likeness to Rafe. "Mr.
Hernandez, it is a pleasure to meet you!" EJ enthused. Stefano explained to Rafe 2 that the car accident caused them to speed up their plans. He drilled Rafe 2 about Rafe's background to make sure he was well-informed on Rafe's background. EJ advised Rafe 2 to take special care of his children. Arrangements were made to switch Rafe 2 at the hospital with Rafe. Meanwhile, Rafe regained consciousness overheard that Ben was arrested. He demanded that Nathan tell him what was going on. Nathan revealed that he talked with Hope on the phone and she wanted him to get a message to Jennifer. Stefano and EJ arrived at the hospital and explained to Lexie that they were there to see Johnny. Stefano and EJ were disturbed to see Rafe talking on the phone. They arranged to have Rafe knocked out and Rafe 2 took his place in the hospital bed. Meanwhile, an unconscious Rafe was taken away. Later, it was revealed that Stefano and EJ were holding Rafe in a prison cell in the DiMera basement. At the hospital, Nathan asked Rafe 2 how he was feeling. "Like a new man!" Rafe 2 smiled.

At the station, Bo and Hope were relieved when Jane and Burt were rightly arrested. "Damn you, both!" Jane screamed. A scuffle ensued and Jane grabbed Abe's associate's gun. She aimed it at Hope and took her hostage. Jane threatened to kill Hope if her demands weren't met. Hope overpowered Jane and the warden was taken away. Believing that they were alone, Bo told Hope, "Hell is being without you." He didn't realize that Carly was standing in the doorway. Later, Hope Carly for taking care of her daughter. In a holding room, Bo pointed out to Abe that Jane was working for someone. Jane agreed and said she would reveal the person's name if a deal could be cut. While Jane was alone, a guard entered and warned that he had a message from Mr. DiMera. If Jane said one word about him she would be dead. When Jane learned that a deal was in place she claimed that Ben was her boss. Hope was happy that Bo was a free man. Bo promised that Hope would also soon be free. In the meantime, Hope to return to the prison.

After talking to Carly on the phone, Daniel realized that Ben was carrying a heart stolen heart and confronted him. "That woman's heart you took, she didn't give her consent, did she?" questioned Daniel. Ben stammered as Daniel took the heart and said his patient had to go back on the donor waiting list. Meanwhile, Lee received a call that Jane was taken into custody. Lee fled, leaving Jennifer on the operating table hooked up to life support. Carly phoned the hospital and learned from Melanie that Daniel wasn't available. Carly instructed Melanie to find her father and tell him that it was extremely important. Daniel arrived at the station and got Abe's clearance to help the woman who had her heart stolen. Carly saw Daniel and updated him. At the infirmary, Melanie arrived with a guard and found an unconscious Jennifer on the operating table. "Omigod!" Melanie exclaimed. She quickly phoned Daniel and told him about Jennifer. "They took her heart," Melanie revealed.
