DAYS Week of January 17, 2011

Monday

Victor returned home and Kate announced that she was headed to the DiMera mansion. "Kate, I didn't know you needed money that much," Victor toyed. She interrupted Victor. "Johnny's cancer has spread to the other eye, so there is a strong possibility he could lose that eye," Kate detailed. "So I offered to spend the night with Stefano, he's devastated." Victor agreed that it was an awful situation, but wondered, with all the turmoil in the DiMera household, was it the safest place for her? Kate reminded that she and Brady took care of Vivian; she was no longer a threat. "How?" Victor questioned. Kate showed Victor a map and revealed that she and Brady left Vivian and Gus stranded on an island, supplied with enough food and water to keep them alive. Shortly after Kate departed, Maggie arrived and explained she was there to pick up some things for Melanie. Catching sight of the map, Maggie questioned if Victor was planning an escape, because of what happened with Vivian. Next, Maggie asked if Vivian was upstairs. Victor answered no and Maggie responded, "Really? Where is she?" Victor avoided answering. Turning her attention back to the map, Maggie gasped, "Omigod, what have you done to Vivian now?"

Meanwhile, Vivian was angered to find that Gus had deserted his lookout perch. "Get back in the tree!" she commanded. "What if a ship comes by and we miss it?" Gus sat and braced himself. "You're getting on my nerves," he warned. "Shut the hell up!" Vivian recoiled, shocked by Gus's insubordination. "How dare you talk to me like that!" Eventually, Vivian finally realized that the Kirakises were her true enemy and she and Gus cleared up their differences.

EJ informed Stefano that he made an uncharacteristic pact with God to let Sami back into their children's lives if Johnny's eyesight was saved. Stefano expressed doubt that, once Johnny was safe, EJ would stand by his deal. "Father, this is one contract that I intend to keep, forever" EJ assured. Soon after, Kate arrived and Stefano explained that she was spending the night; he needed his wife. For Stefano's sake, EJ acted as if he understood and thanked Kate for taking care of his father. Kate asked Stefano if had his blood tested today and advised, "You need to keep yourself healthy for your grandson."

Chloe saw Carly at the hospital and inquired about the hearing. "It wasn't a lot of fun," Carly answered, as she avoided making eye contact with Chloe. "But I still have my license." Chloe realized that Daniel didn't testify against Carly and asked if he was at the hospital. "Now we get to the point," shot Carly. "You don't care about my hearing, or my license. You're just looking for Daniel." Carly noted that Daniel was away from the hospital taking a well-deserved break, after performing emergency surgery on Johnny's second eye. Later, Philip encountered Chloe near the docks. After asking about Parker, volunteered to babysit for his son in the near future and Chloe exploded. "Dammit, Philip! Please, will you do me a favor? Just forget that he is your son." Philip realized that Chloe was anxious to keep him out of the picture because she was desperate to have Daniel reconcile with her. Chloe reasoned that it would be best for everyone if Philip tried to get his own wife back. "I think Melanie's pregnant," Chloe cautioned. "I'm telling you because if she's having your baby, then you have the right to know."

Melanie tussled with Stephanie and fell to the floor. "Are you trying to kill me?" asked Melanie. "Oh, I get it. If I die, then Nathan will come back to you." Stephanie moved in to attack Melanie again, but Brady burst through the door and pulled them apart. "Go," Brady ordered Stephanie. After Stephanie left, Brady queried, "Melanie, what's wrong with you?" Melanie turned away, picking up her scattered medical papers off the floor. Sensing that Melanie was trying to cover up something, Brady demanded a look and scanned the papers. "You're pregnant?" he asked. Melanie panicked that Brady would reveal her secret and he promised to stay quiet. Sensing that Melanie was considering an abortion, Brady noted that he wouldn't offer advice, but volunteered his support if she needed a shoulder to lean on. "I don't want Philip Kiarakis' baby," Melanie asserted. "But it's weird, when I fell, I was worried maybe I hurt it." Later, Melanie saw Carly at the hospital. A vulnerable Melanie wondered, "If you had it to do all over again, would you still have me?" Carly offered that Melanie was the best thing that ever happened to her, and that her only hope was that Melanie would also one day experience the same joy.

At the Brady pub, Stephanie overheard Nathan on the phone, turning down the fellowship at John Hopkins. Stephanie accused Nathan of rejecting the opportunity so that he could remain in Salem with Melanie. "You're the last person to judge," Nathan pointed out. Stephanie warned Nathan that Melanie liked having one man on a string, and the other one in her back pocket. "Stop it," Nathan instructed. "For once in your life, stop blaming things on Melanie and just take responsibility for your own actions."

EJ received a call from Carly, who said that the doctors were ready to be remove Johnny's bandages. "I'm on way," answered EJ.

Philip surprised Melanie at Daniel's place. "You have to tell me," Philip insisted. "Are you carrying our baby?"

Tuesday

In separate areas of the hospital, Sami and Rafe, and EJ and Nicole, awaited the results of Johnny's surgery. "Whatever happens, Johnny's is the bravest kid on the planet," Rafe reassured Sami. "God is the goodness in all of us," Sami recited, recounting Alice Horton's wise words. Elsewhere in the hospital, Nicole comforted EJ as he braced himself for word of Johnny's condition. Soon after, Johnny's bandages were removed and the results were a success.. Sami insisted that they have a party to celebrate Johnny's courage and strength. Later, EJ thanked Nicole for identifying the problem with Johnny's eye. Soon after, EJ visited Johnny at his bedside. In the lobby, Sami thanked Nicole for helping Johnny. "It is all about Johnny," Nicole smiled. "He's all that matters." Nicole added that with Johnny's recovery, she understood the loss for her would be Johnny and Sydney; they would no longer be a part of her life. "You win," Nicole asserted. "Congratulations."

"Wow, that is good stuff," Bo commented, as Jane's truth serum kicked in. "Got rid of the chink in my neck." A twisted Jane smiled and responded, "Darling, that's the truth serum talking." Despite being under the influence of truth serum, Bo insisted that he would never reveal Hope's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Hope got a secure phone from Leo and made a call to Jane's accomplice. She was stunned when she heard Nathan's voice, unaware that he inadvertently answered Ben's phone.

Philip realized that Melanie was pregnant. Melanie admitted that the thought made her nauseous. "You're not a good liar," Philip commented. "You wanted a baby, but now you don't, which is why you lied. You were going to get rid of it and never tell me!" Melanie responded, "I'm not terminating the pregnancy. I want this baby. I'm going to love it and raise it. I'm going to have this child." Philip wanted to be part of Melanie's pregnancy, but Melanie said she wasn't willing to give him a chance. Melanie asked him to leave. "Melanie, please don't do this," Philip pleaded, as Melanie slammed the door on him.

On Vivian and Gus's exiled island, a helicopter was heard in the distant sky. "Gus, we've been saved," Vivian exclaimed. The helicopter passed by. "The almighty is just playing with us," Vivian groaned. Gus reminded Vivian that the supply box contained wine and caviar. "Why is Brady being so kind to us?" Vivian mused. When they discovered that there was no opener, Vivian vowed, "As God is my witness, I will open this bottle with my teeth if I have to."

Victor admitted to Maggie that Vivian was on an island, and he intended to leave her there. "Here's the deal, Kirakis," Maggie proposed. "You bring Vivian home and I will go out to dinner, just the two of us. Take it, or leave it."

Jennifer treated Ben to a sweet meal at Brady Pub. Of course, she had an ulterior motive. She wanted to question Ben about his volunteer work at the prison. Jennifer noted that she wanted to volunteer at the prison and Ben warned her to stay away from the place. "Maybe somewhere else," Ben suggested. He noted that the prison wasn't the place for Jennifer because she was sweet, kind and beautiful. "It's been a long time since someone said that to me," Jennifer responded, adding, "I just want to spread my wings." Ben received a page and excused himself.

Wednesday

Will came back to the loft and reported Johnny's progress to Gabi. They hugged and started kissing. There was a knock at the door — it was Chad, who revealed he won four tickets to a Kanye concert and was inviting them. They were psyched. Gabi told him about Johnny. He was happy for them. Will pointed out that it was his nephew and good news for him, too. Chad left and headed to the hospital with a stuffed animal for Johnny. Johnny asked who he was. Chad introduced himself and gave him the gift. Johnny thanked him. Chad took off.... Gabi baked cookies for Johnny. After, she and Will kissed some more.

At the DiMera mansion, Chloe visited Nicole. Nic told her that Johnny would be okay and that Sami and EJ called a truce. Nicole worried that spelled the end of her living in the DiMera manse. Chloe pointed out that Brady still loved Nicole. Nic wasn't so sure. The conversation turned to Daniel. Chloe was convinced he would forgive her. Nicole gently admitted that she saw Daniel many times that day and he never asked about Chloe once. Nicole added that he was home; Chloe grabbed her coat to rush over there. Nicole warned her against doing that. Chloe was determined to fight and took off. Nicole called Brady and asked if she could stop by. He said okay, albeit reluctantly. Once there, Nicole explained what was going on and asked him to talk to Sami on her behalf where the kids were concerned. A thunderstruck Brady said no way.

An exhausted Daniel returned home and collapsed on the couch. His phone rang. It was Melanie, who needed to talk to him in person. He asked if it could wait, but she said no. He told her to come over. When Melanie hung up, she said to herself that she had to tell her father she was pregnant. Maggie walked in and overheard. She took Melanie in her arms and assured her it would be okay. "It's a blessing," she smiled. The women sat down and talked things out. Maggie pledged her total support. Melanie worried how she would tell Daniel. Maggie insisted he would be alright with it. Mel asked Maggie not to tell Nathan, explaining that he wanted to be together, but her life was a mess and she didn't know what she wanted. Maggie lauded her for being so strong.

Chloe entered Daniel's apartment. He was asleep on the couch. She unbuttoned her shirt and climbed on top of him to kiss him. Startled, he threw her off. "What are you doing here?" he demanded. She said she wanted to talk. "Talk? You were lying on top of me," he pointed out. She implored him to work things out, but he pointed out that she lied and schemed to keep him in the dark and he couldn't forgive her. She promised him she would never lie again; he said he couldn't believe her. Melanie entered during their fight. Awkward. Chloe headed out; Daniel asked for her key. Melanie wondered if he was okay, but he didn't want to talk about it. He asked what she wanted to talk about. She cried that she was pregnant with Philip's baby. "I'm so sorry," she wept. Daniel assured her it was fine and gave her a hug, promising to be there for her.

At the hospital, EJ spied Rafe and Sami kissing. He decided to do something about Rafe and talked to Stefano about it. Rafe, meanwhile, warned Sami that they could not trust EJ, despite the truce. Sami didn't agree. The pair entered Johnny's room. EJ was more than friendly to her, which agitated Stefano. EJ assured him they would talk at home. Once safely at the manse, EJ noted that Rafe had a hold over Sami and Johnny and would surely someday poison the boy against them and had to be stopped. Stefano asked if EJ wanted to get rid of Rafe because of the kids or because of Sami. EJ insisted he wasn't in love with Sami. "I'm never going to pursue Samantha again. The only thing I feel for her is disgust," he declared. Stefano was on board for getting rid of Rafe for good. "I think I have the perfect solution, one that is even more destructive and effective than his death," Stefano smiled.

Thursday

EJ wanted to brainstorm with Stefano various ways to bring revenge against Rafe. Stefano revealed he already had a plan. "I can bring about a change in Mr. Hernandez and no one will ever know," Stefano promised. "I'm going to make a few phones calls and then Mr. Hernandez will be changed, and life as he knows it will be over soon." Meanwhile, Rafe visited Johnny in the hospital and promised that he'd be back. At Sami and Rafe's loft, Allie walked in on Will and Gabi kissing and threatened to tell. Will ordered his kid sister back to bed. Rafe arrived home and Allie tattled about Will and Gabi kissing. After Gabi left, Rafe lectured Will about making out with his sister and told him not to hurt her. EJ paid a surprise visit and left Sydney to spend the night at the loft.

Brady shut a tearful Nicole out of his life. "Nicole, you have to do what you have to do, and I have to move on... I'm done with you," he insisted. When Nicole tried to plead with Brady he grabbed Nicole by the arm and shoved her out the door. Victor entered the room and applauded Brady's actions. Victor also praised Brady for banishing Vivian on an island. He then shifted gears and demanded that Brady bring Vivian back immediately. "Maggie found out and she's very upset," Victor explained. Outraged, Brady stormed out. Later, Brady agreed to bring Vivian back. Alone, Brady vowed to do it on his terms.

Melanie broke the news of her pregnancy to Daniel. She was worried that he would disapprove because Philip was the father.
"I don't have to tell you how hard it is for a child to grow up and not know who her real father is," cautioned Daniel. "You have got to find a way to make peace with Philip!" Daniel assured Melanie that he and Carly would be by her side. Melanie announced that she hadn't told Carly. Daniel volunteered to share the news with her.

Philip and Carly fought over Melanie. "If you think Melanie is ever going to forgive you, think again," Carly advised. The argument escalated. "You have no right judging me," Philip shot back. "You didn't even tell people that Melanie was your daughter until she was all grown up!" Philip turned to walk into the Brady Pub and Carly followed. Kate walked in on their argument and asked what was going on. "Stay away from my daughter!" Carly warned. As Carly walked out, Philip quietly said, "That's going to be kind of hard when she's having my baby." Philip assured Kate that Melanie would change her mind about him. Kate informed Philip that she was staying at Stefano's and Philip supported her decision to try and reconcile with Stefano.

Daniel phoned Carly and asked to see her. Shortly after, Carly arrived and Daniel announced that their daughter was pregnant. Carly thanked Daniel for including her.

Kate returned to the DiMera mansion and overheard Stefano plotting against Rafe and Sami. "What are you saying, Stefano?" Kate asked.

Melanie called Brady and said she wanted to see him.

EJ went to the hospital and found Nicole by Johnny's bedside. EJ told Nicole he wanted to discuss their future.

Friday

Rafe didn't trust EJ's sudden change of heart where Sydney and Johnny were concerned. "We've been burned by EJ one too many times," Rafe remarked to Gabi. "Something doesn't smell right." Gabi encouraged Rafe to trust that EJ had changed. Rafe remained wary, even after he received notice that the custody papers would arrive tomorrow. Meanwhile, Nicole feared her role as step-mother to Sydney and Johnny wouldn't be happening, especially when EJ announced that he wanted to discuss the future. "You know, life has this way of changing things for us," EJ began. He then volunteered that Sydney was spending the night with Sami. Nicole braced herself and candidly asked, "This so-called marriage we've had going, it's not happening, is it?" EJ disagreed and shared, "I still want to marry you, and Sydney will still be very much in your life." Nicole tried to wrap her mind around the sudden change. EJ asserted he was the one who had changed. Nicole accepted EJ's offer and was relieved when EJ assured that he would handle Sami.

At the DiMera mansion, Stefano quietly vowed, "Samantha and Rafeal, their days are numbered." Kate overheard Stefano and commented that she'd rather not know what he was up to. "On the contrary," Stefano purred. "Katherine, I want you to know everything." Stefano revealed he planned to bury the hatchet with Sami and Rafe. Kate wondered if he intended to bury it in their back. The subject turned to Philip's discovery that Parker was his son. Kate was adamant that she had to find a way to take Parker away from Chloe. Nicole arrived home with EJ, where they found Kate and Stefano together. Stefano asked to have a private word with EJ. Stefano was baffled by EJ's plan to still marry Nicole and cautioned that she would ruin everything. "Once we get Rafe out of the way, we are going to need Nicole," EJ pointed out.

Philip visited Melanie and tried to make amends. "I don't want to think about that right now," Melanie interrupted. "It still makes me sick." When Philip said all he could think about was their baby, Melanie wondered why he wasn't thinking about his baby with Chloe. "We're done, Philip," Melanie insisted. At Maggie's, Nathan professed his love for Melanie to Maggie. Nathan sensed Maggie was holding something back and left to see Melanie. "I know you still love me, and I know I still love you, and that's a start, right?" Nathan reasoned. "We have no future," Melanie answered. "I'm pregnant with Philip's baby and I'm going to keep it. So you and I will never be happy. I'm sorry." Melanie closed the door, shutting Nathan out of her life.

Chloe showed up unannounced at Stephanie's, intent on confronting Caroline. "I want to thank her for destroying my whole damn life!" Chloe declared, as she forced her way into the apartment. "Everything in my life is ruined because of you," Chloe spat at Caroline, "and you are going to pay." Caroline tried to console Chloe. "I'm sorry you got hurt, but what's done is done," she said. Stephanie phoned Philip and asked him to come over and take Chloe away because she feared Caroline might have a stroke. Philip arrived and promptly escorted Chloe out the door. Later, Philip advised Chloe that they needed to drop the charges against Caroline and move on. Chloe stubornly refused to change her position. Philip was further alarmed when it became clear that an emotional Chloe was unable to let go of Daniel.
