Monday
Maggie received a text from the late Mickey. "It must have been delayed," she cried, adding, "I love you, too."
Julie went to check on Nathan at the hospital. She asked what was wrong. "Melanie Layton," he replied. Hope called Julie with news of Mickey's death. Julie gently broke it to Nathan. They headed home to comfort Maggie. Nathan called his mother, Melissa, who was set to arrive later that day.
Victor threw the morning paper on Brady's desk at the Kiriakis mansion, not at all pleased that the headline trumpeted his grandson helping Nicole get a reduced sentence. They argued. "I think I liked you better when you were high," Vic huffed. Brady retaliated that Vic never liked any of the women in his life, yet was hanging out with Vivian, which wasn't such a swell idea. Brady left in a huff.
Vivian worked on finding out the identity of Carly's child. She entered the Java Caf and overheard Philip discussing his elopement plans and asked him about it. She wished him well, which made him suspicious. She insisted she had no ulterior motive. He mused that she was the only one who supported his upcoming nups. She explained that he was the closest thing she had to a child, even though he didn't share his feelings. She then gave him "something old" for Melanie to wear at the ceremony. He was touched.... Vivian returned home and told Vic that she had bonded with Philip. She then showed him the latest report about Carly from her contact. It showed that Carly's child was female.
At the Salem Inn, Bo and Carly had sex, using the old, "We've done this before" and "Let's leave the outside world outside" philosophy.
Troy stepped up his plan to kill Arianna.... Melanie excitedly came into the Pub with her dress. Arianna wished her well. They discussed her something old/new/borrowed/blue and Ari gave her something blue. Melanie said she would swing by Maggie's to borrow a necklace and rushed off.... Brady came to the Pub to talk to Ari. He insisted any obligation he felt toward Nicole was finished. "Who are you kidding?" she asked. He told her Nicole was out of his life — permanently. He then vowed to break up the Salem drug ring so Ari would be free.
Melanie arrived at Maggie's and was shocked to see so many people there and Maggie in tears. "Who died?" she asked. Maggie ran out of the room. Melanie followed her and apologized for being so crass. They talked about Mickey. Maggie told Mel she made Mickey laugh. Nathan came into the kitchen unseen. "You and Mickey are like the parents I always dreamed about having when I was growing up," Mel told her, adding that if her marriage to Philip was half as good as Maggie and Mickey's, that would be fine by her. Mel chided herself for talking about Philip while Maggie was first coping with her loss, but Maggie assured her she needed to hear happy things. Maggie told her to go be with Philip, but Mel didn't feel it was important right now. "Don't waste time," Maggie said. "Not a day, not an hour. Go." Maggie went back into the other room and passed Nathan. He thanked Melanie for helping Maggie. He then said he would miss her while she was on her honeymoon. Awkward. She took off.... Maggie sobbed when she realized she had accidentally deleted Mickey's last text.
Tuesday
Bo and Carly were naked and kissing in her bed at the Salem Inn when his phone rang: It was Hope. He was going to let it go to voicemail, but Carly urged him to pick it up in case it was about Ciara. He answered and told Hope it was a bad time and asked if he could call her back. She said it was important and told him about Mickey; he said he would come meet her. She was crying and asked him to go to Mickey's office with her to break the news to the employees. He said he would. After Bo hung up, he told Carly what happened, adding that Hope needed him. He apologized to Carly for leaving. She understood and said she was there for him. Carly worried for her daughter, who loved Mickey and Maggie a lot. Bo said he would be in touch with Carly to let her know how the teen was doing.
Doug sat with Hope at the Pub. He told her Julie had spoken to Melissa, who took her father's death very hard. Doug asked if Bo was on the way. Hope said yes, but she wondered what was holding him up. She admitted that she called Bo because she couldn't go to Mickey's office without him. Doug urged her not to do anything that couldn't be undone where Bo was concerned. Hope worried it might be too late. Doug gave her a pep talk, then left. Bo came in. Hope flew into his arms. They sat down and Hope told Bo she had been talking to Doug about them. She was about to tell him that she thought she and Ciara should move home when someone from the hospital came to the table and asked Bo if Dr. Manning was okay after he took her home. Hope quickly put the pieces together and asked Bo if he had slept with Carly and realized he was with her when Hope called him about Mickey. He apologized, but she didn't want to talk to him and hurried out. "I need to start learning how to get through things alone," she told him.... A cop came in and handed Bo a file about Sydney's kidnapping.
In her rush to get out of Maggie's kitchen, Melanie dropped the handkerchief Arianna gave her. Nathan bent to pick it up, as did she. He pulled her into a kiss. She kissed him back. They pulled apart and he was confused by all of his feelings. Outside, Philip appeared on the doorstep. Stephanie stopped him to tell him about Mickey. They went inside. Melanie went into her fiancé's arms. Nathan excused himself. Philip headed in to see Maggie. Once alone with Melanie, Stephanie offered Melanie her earrings as something borrowed to wear to her Vegas nups to Phil. Melanie was conflicted. She talked to Philip, who said they should wait to wed.
Anna and EJ discussed their plans. Anna worried about how upset Sami was. EJ urged her to look down the line to the future, when Sami got Sydney back. Anna asked when that would be. EJ shot her a nasty look but assured her it would be soon.
Sami desperately tried to get through to EJ. Her phone rang. It was Julie, who told her about Mickey. She called Will and left him a message to call her. She then lamented to Rafe that she wanted to see Maggie, but didn't know what to say to her. "This is just officially too much," she explained. "Whoever took Sydney, it's changed me. And I'm never going back. And I swear to God, when I find out who did this, I'm gonna kill 'em." Rafe was happy she expressed her feelings to him. He left to find Will. EJ came over. Sami freaked out on him for not being in touch. He tried to calm her down. She vowed to tell Rafe about the ransom note, adding that Mickey died. EJ agreed they should tell Rafe the truth, then put Johnny to bed. Sami was moved by his parenting skills. She changed her mind and felt they should continue to keep Rafe in the dark. "I just want you to know, I really do trust you," she told Elvis.
Will entered the Java Café to find Mia crying. He asked her what was wrong. "Will your Uncle Mickey died," she revealed. "I am so sorry." Will was stunned. "Aunt Maggie ... He was everything to her," Will sighed. They headed to Maggie's. Rafe arrived and told Will that Sami was trying to get in touch with him. He said his phone was dead. Rafe asked Will to pick up a casserole that Caroline made for Maggie, but was too sick to deliver. They talked on the pier first. Will admitted he was worried about Mia. Rafe gave him some advice.
At the Horton home, a frantic Maggie desperately tried to retrieve Mickey's deleted message. She threw the phone on the floor just as Lucas came in and took his sobbing aunt in his arms. He promised to get the text message back and comforted her. Doug arrived and updated Maggie about Mickey's office. She cried some more, asking what she was going to do. There was a knock at the door. Mia answered. It was Carly.... Hope came in through the back door and found the kitchen empty. She went into the living room and spied Carly at the door. "You whore. You sleep with my husband and then you have the nerve to come here?" she sneered.
Wednesday
Bo got word about a lead on Sydney. Will came in and asked what was going on with his sister. Turns out, a woman in the South was arrested and the baby matched Sydney's description, but it wasn't her. After, Bo left Carly a message that Hope knew.
Carly showed up at Maggie's door. Hope screamed at her to leave when she saw her. Maggie quickly cleared the room. Hope apologized to her aunt for reacting so strongly. Once alone, Carly told Hope she didn't realize Hope would be there. "You go from my husband's bed to my aunt's home. My life your new hunting ground?" Hope queried. The women argued. "What has it been? Months and months of pushing him away and now you're the victim?" Carly shot back. "You sleep with my husband, it's my fault?" Hope sneered. Carly explained that she never meant to fall in love with Bo again. "Love? Are you serious? You think that was love?" Hope laughed.
In the kitchen, Maggie got a call that Melissa's flight had been canceled due to weather. Philip and Melanie came in and Phil said he would make a call to see what he could do. Doug and Lucas chatted. Doug chided himself for urging Hope to reconcile with Bo. "Jerk," he exclaimed.
Melanie entered the living room and overheard Hope say that Carly killed Lawrence. "I'm sorry, you're a murderer, too?" Mel asked. Melanie lit into Carly, telling her she was making things worse for everyone, then left the room. Bo entered as the two women in his life were trading insults. "Look what the cat dragged in," Hope said. "Welcome to your worst nightmare." Bo asked Carly to leave so she did. Hope told Bo to go, too, since only family was welcome. He wanted to clear a couple of things up first. Bo asked if anyone overheard Carly and Hope talking. She said Melanie did and added that everyone in the house knew what was going on. She then cried for him to leave. He took off.
Chloe, Daniel, Brady and Arianna went to the Java Caf after a double date at the opera. The men ordered dessert. Ari asked Chloe if she thought Brady and Nicole were just friends. Chloe reassured her that they were. Troy came in and approached the women. The men came back to the table, so Troy walked off. Chloe asked who it was; Brady covered that it was one of Ari's "Pub groupies." When the couples parted ways, Daniel asked Chloe about her relationship with Brady. Outside, Brady got a call from Philip, so Ari went back inside to fetch her phone. She overheard Chloe noting that Brady helped her get her life together and then after that, things fizzled. She added that Brady seemed to have the same "save the damsel in distress" complex with Nicole. She said that the best way for Ari to hold on to Brady would be to need saving. Ari approached their table, so the duo stopped talking. Awkward! Chloe worried Arianna overheard her; Daniel was sure she didn't. He then said some sweet nothings to his fiance and they took off for home. Ari returned to Brady on the pier and he was upset. He told her about Mickey and said he had to go to Maggie's. She understood. Troy was tailing her and was thrilled to find she'd be alone.
Melanie went to the Pub to meet Philip and ran into Nathan. She revealed that they weren't going to Las Vegas to marry. She insisted it was out of respect for Maggie, not because she and Nathan kissed. "That kiss meant nothing to me!" she declared as Stephanie walked in. Philip entered next. Melanie ran into his arms. He asked why she was upset, but she said she was fine. Nathan covered that Mel felt guilty for feeling disappointed that the wedding wasn't going on as planned. Nate and Steph headed to the kitchen. Once alone, Philip wasn't so convinced and asked Melanie what was really going on with her and Nathan. He got a call about Melissa's flight, so the conversation was tabled. She then told him that she wanted to get married next month.
Mia kept Maggie company at the house.... Lucas tracked down Will at the Brady Pub. Will asked about Maggie. Lucas said the whole situation seemed unreal. Will was headed back to her place. Lucas gave him the heads up that Mia seemed lost and said that Will could still be there for her despite their breakup.... An exhausted Maggie went to bed. She clutched Mickey's photo, moved to his side of the bed and wept.... Mia broke down after Mags left. Will came in and took her in his arms.... Stephanie and Nate returned to Maggie's. She asked what went down with him and Mel earlier. He said everyone was acting crazy because of Mickey's death and anything between him and Mel meant nothing. He thanked Stephanie for being there for him.
Doug comforted a sobbing Hope outside of Maggie's house. She apologized for blowing up earlier, but Doug insisted nobody blamed her for anything. He asked if what went on between Bo and Carly was true. "I lost Bo," she sobbed.... At the Salem Inn, Carly began packing her things. Bo arrived and insisted she stay in town. They kissed.
Thursday
The Hortons returned home after Mickey's funeral. Doug asked where Bo was. He was at the hospital to fill a prescription for Alice and ran into Carly.... Melissa finally arrived and broke down in tears the moment Maggie opened the door. Melanie came in. Nathan was thrilled to see his mommy.... Brady was in the kitchen with the other Hortons. EJ appeared at the back door to offer his condolences, but Brady told him he wasn't welcome. "Are you authorized to turn people away, Brady?" he asked. EJ said some sweet things about Mickey, so Doug allowed him in. EJ explained how Mickey supported him when no one else did and asked them to send his regards to Maggie. Hope thanked him and said they were praying for Sydney's safe return. He noted her words were a great comfort to him.... Bo arrived with Alice's meds. Hope told him he could stay. He apologized for hurting her. She called herself a fool for thinking they still had a future. He insisted she wasn't. "It feels like there's no going back now," she lamented. They remembered Zack and Hope sobbed that she was tired of saying good-bye to people she loved. He took her in his arms. Justin arrived. Bo excused himself.
Maggie received another arrangement and worried they wouldn't fit in the sunroom. Mia suggested going to the hospital. Nathan wanted to introduce Stephanie to his mother. "You must be Melanie; I've heard so much about you," Melissa smiled. Awkward! She then apologized when she realized her gaffe. Maggie entered and told Nathan his Aunt Sarah needed him, so he walked out. Melissa said she was sorry again, then added that Maggie called Melanie a "troubled soul" and Steph didn't seem like that kind of girl.... Maggie told Nate that the last thing Mickey did was get Nathan's recent arrest expunged from his record. "Your grandfather was always looking out for you," she smiled. Nathan promised to stay out of trouble. Melissa overheard them mention jail and asked what was up. "It wasn't a big deal. Both times were so stupid," he explained. "Both?" she asked, asking if it had to do with Melanie. Nathan insisted she wasn't to blame and got upset.
Rafe went to the Brady Pub, which was closed out of respect for Mickey. He and Arianna went over Sydney's disappearance. He decided to return to the scene of the crime. Troy made a call, saying it was time to finish the job on Ari. "Next funeral in this town is gonna be yours, Senorita Hernandez," he said. A hit man arrived, but so did Brady, so he hid. Brady gave her a kiss, said a quick hello, then took off. The hit man came in to rob the place. Arianna begged him not to shoot. Brady returned an foiled the hit. The hitman ran out; Brady went after him, but couldn't get him.
EJ returned home and Stefano asked his son what made him think he wouldn't find out. "Find out about what?" EJ asked. "Selling millions of dollars of DiMera stock for bargain basement prices," Stefano replied. EJ noted that he wasn't doing it behind his father's back. Rafe sauntered in and asked why EJ needed sudden cash. He explained he was establishing his own identity. Rafe showed them a new sketch of Sydney. "I miss that child," Stefano sighed. EJ told his father not to bother since EJ planned on keeping the baby far away from him once she was returned. Once alone, Stefano warned Rafe that EJ was duplicitous and he should watch his back.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Vivian searched online for info about Carly's daughter. Victor read the paper. Viv flashed to Carly hugging Mia on the pier and deduced it was the teen. Vic asked who it was, but she wanted to keep it quiet until she was certain. Vivian headed to the hospital and ran into Carly, who quickly hurried off.
Mia and Melanie came in with the flowers. "This must be my lucky day," Viv smirked. She walked over to the girls and reminded Melanie that they needed to work on her wedding plans. She creeped the girls out a bit, then left. Carly spied Melanie's engagement ring and asked her about. Mel told Dr. M she was marrying Philip. "Oh," Carly responded unenthusiastically. Mia said they had to get home.... Vivian told Victor that Mia was Carly's daughter.
Anna held Sydney, waiting to hear from EJ. She began to pack, thinking it was time to shake things up. She told Syd that Tony never completely trusted Elvis. EJ arrived and assured Anna that the plan was on schedule.
Back at Maggie's, the family shared recollections of Mickey. Cue the flashbacks. Maggie thanked the family for being there. After, they headed to the luncheon.... Bo returned to the hospital, where he ran into a rattled Carly.
Friday
Carly lamented to Bo that her daughter — Melanie! — hated her. He doubted it. Carly then revealed that Melanie and Philip were engaged. Bo was surprised. She was worried that Melanie would wind up living chez Kiriakis and in Vivian's close range. A panicked Carly wanted to go see Mel. She said she should apologize for causing the scene with Hope. Bo wished her luck.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Vivian insisted to Victor that Mia was Carly's daughter. Victor wasn't so sure. Vivian produced a tracking device that she wanted to put on Carly, who would lead her to the girl. Viv went to leave, but Bo was at the door and handed her a restraining order to steer clear of Carly. Bo was so angry on Carly's behalf that Vivian deduced they were sleeping together. An angry Bo stormed out. Victor exploded and told Vivian to destroy the "home-wrecking whore" once and for all.
At Maggie's house, Mia and Maggie cleaned up and talked about Maggie's daughters. Mia noted they were lucky to have a mom like Maggie. Melanie agreed. She asked Melanie about her mom. Melanie told Mia her mom died when she was young and she was raised by her awful father. Will arrived to talk to Mia and they headed out to Java.... Carly came by the house; Melanie answered the door. Carly apologized for fighting with Hope. "You slept with her husband, so you couldn't have expected her to be all warm and fuzzy with you," Melanie pointed out. Carly tried to explain, but Melanie wasn't interested. Carly insisted that she needed her to understand. Melanie told Carly that what she was doing with Bo was "uncool". Carly said she was sorry, then changed the subject to Melanie's wedding. Carly asked the teen why she was in such a rush to wed. An angry Melanie said she had crossed the line. They fought. Melanie demanded to know why Carly cared what Mel thought of her. Carly left. Outside, Bo found her. Carly sighed that she needed to tell Melanie the truth. "Tell me the truth about what?" Melanie, who had just come outside, asked.
A panicked Sami called EJ, whom she hadn't heard from in a day. He was with Sydney and laughed that Sami had called him 10 times already. EJ read to Sydney while Anna chastised him for ignoring Sami. "Sami deceived me, so I shall return the favor," he explained. Anna worried Rafe would get too close to the truth. EJ was overjoyed when Sydney was standing and took her first steps.... Rafe came home and he and Sami bickered about EJ. Rafe was convinced that EJ was keeping something from them. He told her about EJ selling off his DiMera stock and Stefano's warning about Elvis. Sami didn't understand why he was listening to Stefano and got very agitated. He asked why she was overreacting; she insisted she wasn't. He suspected there was something else going on and asked what it was. She covered that she was just upset about Sydney. He made sure Sami knew he was there for her. She was about to tell him the truth when he got a call that Arianna was held up at the Pub. He hurried out. After Rafe left, EJ finally called Sami. He summoned her to the DiMera manse. "Let the game begin," he said to himself. She rushed over. He showed her another ransom note. She wanted to call Rafe, but EJ said no. While they were arguing, Sami got a call from the "kidnapper" to meet on the pier for the ransom drop.
Chad went to the Pub and found Gabi working there. She explained that she was covering for her sister. The ice machine went on the fritz; Chad helped her with it. She was impressed. He said he was sorry for the way she found out about him and Mia having a baby and insisted he wasn't a jerk. She said she didn't think he was. He asked if they could hang out as friends. She wasn't committal, so he pushed. She gave in. He asked her to meet him at Java later. She said she would. He left, passing Rafe. Gabi updated her brother about Ari. After, Rafe walked on the pier, where he ran into EJ and Sami. Gulp!
At Java, Mia asked Will to give her another chance. He kissed her. Kinsey and Tad came in. Kinsey was bitchy about Mickey dying. Tad admonished her. Mia reported that she and Will had reunited. Chad came in and Kinsey told him the deal. He congratulated them. Chad then got a text message and was excited. Gabi arrived and Chad revealed that he could invite three friends to his parents' Vancouver condo for February break and they also scored tickets to the Olympics. He invited Tad and Kinsey, then asked Gabi if she wanted to go, too. Mia returned while they were talking about it.
