Monday
Brady threatened to break Dr. Baker's neck if went near Nicole or asked for any more money. The doc swore he wouldn't and said he didn't realize anyone else knew "the whole truth" about what he and Nicole had done; things he wanted no part of. Brady said Dr. Baker was just as guilty as Nicole. Dr. Baker asked why Brady cared so much about Nicole and called him a fool for believing her lies.
EJ was on the phone discussing the alternative fuels project formula, when Mary walked in. EJ told her to move his things back into the master bedroom. Mia phoned Nicole to talk about her baby. Nicole told Mia never to call there again. EJ interrupted and asked who Nicole was talking to. Nicole covered. After EJ left, Mia called back and said she was thinking of coming home and taking her baby. Nicole urged Mia to let go of Sydney; she would thank her someday. Brady arrived demanding to know what Nicole and Dr. Baker did that he didn't know about. Nicole asked Brady to trust her and not worry. She asked him to leave before EJ came home. Nicole phoned Dr. Baker and scolded him for talking to Brady. Dr. Baker wondered who this guy was that Nicole was sleeping with. Nicole swore she and Brady were just friends. Dr. Baker noted that Brady was obviously in love with Nicole.
K ayla convinced a reluctant Steve she had to leave the hospital and testify at Hope's hearing. Meanwhile, Bo met Hope outside the hearing room. Bo was upset Hope hadn't returned his calls. Hope didn't want to talk about what Bo had done and feared she might lose her job. Roman and Abe arrived. The hearing began. Roman explained what went down and how Hope accidentally shot Kayla. Bo testified and was forced to admit Hope fired her gun without a direct verbal command from the ranking officer on the scene. Kayla arrived demanding to testify. Outside, Bo, Roman and Abe discussed the "kangaroo court." Inside, Kayla insisted the only person to blame for her shooting was the mayor's killer. Hope emerged from the room. Bo asked what happened, and Hope handed him her badge.
Philip sensed Melanie was up to something. Melanie got a call from EJ, noting he checked on her work for the alternative fuels project and it went well. Melanie pretended she was talking to Max, as she and EJ arranged to meet. Melanie hung up and left. Philip was annoyed. Stephanie said Melanie was provoking him. Max and Chelsea arrived. Philip asked Max if he'd just called Melanie. Max hadn't. Philip took off. Max left to fetch some drinks. Steph filled Chelsea in on how Melanie was bringing out the worst in Philip and it was affecting their relationship. Max returned, and Steph left, upset. Max surmised Steph was blaming everything on Melanie. "The only one screwing up Stephanie's life is Philip," announced Max. Steph returned and asked Max not to badmouth Philip. Max called Philip "a piece of scum." Steph left. Alone, Max insisted he wasn't still hung up on Steph. Chelsea didn't buy it, noting that Max talking about Philip and Steph all the time was boring. Chelsea understand that Steph was still Max's friend, just like she was his friend. Max asked if Chelsea wanted to be more than friends. Chelsea finally admitted she did.
At the pier EJ handed Melanie an envelope full of money. Melanie said she wanted a deal in writing before she gave him the other half of the formula. Philip arrived and accused the twosome of industrial espionage. He noted how Melanie tried to steal corporate secrets and was now talking to Philip. EJ told Philip to call the cops if he thought a crime was being committed and left. Philip grabbed Melanie's purse, found the envelope of money, and realized she was giving EJ information on the alternative fuels project. Philip told Melanie she'd be sorry and tossed the envelope. Melanie picked it up, noting that things didn't have to be this way. Philip could do something to fix things, and he knew what it was.
EJ returned home, and Nicole greeted him with a passionate kiss. "Make love to me, EJ," she whispered. "Sweetheart, you know you can't do that," retorted EJ. "You just had a baby."
Tuesday
Melanie told Philip she'd work with him on the alternative fuels project, if he dumped Stephanie. Philip said no way. Melanie went on about Steph not accepting Philip the way she did. "I like mean and ruthless Philip. In fact, he's my favorite side," she cooed. If Philip got rid of Steph, all his worries about EJ and the project would disappear, he'd make loads of money, and get daddy's respect. Philip swore he'd never get involved with "a lying bitch" like Melanie. Besides, he didn't need to make any deals with her. Titan controlled the rights to the fuels project, no matter what Melanie promised EJ. Philip vowed to destroy Melanie if she screwed him over. Philip left Steph a message apologizing for running off on her.
EJ reminded Nicole it was too soon to make love. She'd just had a baby. Nicole said making love was about more than just having sex and led EJ to bed. EJ and Nicole romped, when Sydney started to cry. Nicole fetched her bottle, and EJ took a return phone call from Roman. EJ asked what was up with Sami's return to Salem. Roman noted a delay, since the mayor's killer could have been working with other people. Nicole returned. EJ told her Sami might be coming home soon. Nicole freaked, knowing her peace of mind was about to disappear. Sydney awoke, and Nicole fed her. Later, Nicole woke up to EJ holding Sydney, raging about her betraying the DiMeras, and threatening to take Sydney to her real mother. Fortunately, it was just a nightmare. Nicole awoke for real and vowed Sami would not break up her family.
Bo said he was sorry about what happened at the hearing. So was Hope. They discussed Bo not telling Hope about his vision of her shooting Kayla. "I'll never forgive myself," said Hope. "Or me," added Bo, who just wanted to make up with his wife. Bo urged Hope to come home with him and make things right. Hope refused.
Chelsea confessed her feelings to Max, admitting she wanted more than friendship. Max 'fessed up to having feelings for Chelsea, too. He hadn't said anything, because he didn't think Chelsea was ready for more. Chelsea recounted Steph saying she'd have a problem if she and Max dated again. Max noted Steph would have to get over that. This was between the two of them. Max and Chelsea smooched, when Melanie interrupted. Chelsea left. Melanie told Max he'd "traded up"; then, asked if he wanted to know about her and Philip. Max cautioned Melanie about playing the DiMera and Kiriakis families against each other. No matter, Melanie was going to do it.
Steve and Steph were proud of Kayla for testifyin g on Hope's behalf. Kayla still worried that Hope could lose her badge; not to mention even more. The conversation turned to Philip. Steph noted he could be sweet and funny, but there was a ruthless side to him, too. Steve wanted Steph to dump Philip. Steph wanted to be left alone. Steve apologized. Steph announced she and Philip were done and left. Kayla decided to phone Roman to see if there was any word on Hope. Roman delivered the bad news. Kayla decided to call the governor. She couldn't let Bo and Hope lose everything because of her. Steve said Kayla had done all she could. She had to let this go and focus on getting well.
Steph arrived at Titan and questioned him about Melanie. Philip insisted he couldn't stand Melanie, but wanted the alternative fuels project. He wouldn't let Melanie and EJ take it away from him or take him down. Steph pointed out Philip was already rich and successful. Why couldn't he be satisfied? Philip countered that being satisfied meant he had no drive. He needed Steph to understand what he had to do for his career and Titan, because she meant so much to him. Steph preferred the kinder, gentler Philip with the sweet smile. Philip insisted he only wanted to be with Steph. Steph wasn't so sure and left.
Wednesday
Melanie met EJ and said she was ready to "seal the deal" on the alternative fuels project. EJ pointed out Melanie had been
consorting with Philip. Melanie wasn't sure how much Philip knew about their deal, but admitted he found the money EJ gave her. EJ noted he had a research and development team working on the half formula Melanie gave him and was sure they'd crack it soon. Hence, she was disposable. EJ called Melanie on her infatuation with Philip. Melanie swore that was over. She realized she had to prove her loyalty to EJ and said she'd do anything. Melanie just wanted to sign their deal. "We'll see," said EJ, leaving.
Daniel phoned Chloe, and they discussed the situation with Lucas. Daniel said they might be able to leave town, after Kate's examination today. The pair exchanged "I love you's." Daniel hung up to find Kate. Kate said if the news on her tests was good, it was because of him. Maggie arrived and asked if Lucas told Kate why Chloe broke off the engagement. Kate hadn't a clue, but hoped Lucas and Chloe would still marry. Kate left, and Maggie started lecturing Daniel about Chloe. Daniel insisted he and Chloe weren't ashamed about what they'd done. Maggie reminded Daniel he'd eventually have to level with Kate, who would be furious.
Allie ran up to Chloe in the park. Lucas convinced the tyke to go play with a friend; then, told Chloe he didn't want Allie near her. Lucas asked why Chloe broke up with him. Chloe cried. Lucas admitted he still loved Chloe. Chloe admitted she still loved Lucas. Chloe swore she'd change things if she could. Lucas left, annoyed. Chloe sobbed on a bench, when a priest approached and offered her guidance. Chloe confessed there were two men in her life. The priest said he knew exactly what she needed to do.
Lucas walked into the pub and ordered a Bloody Mary. Melanie recognized him and tried to chat with him. Lucas brushed her off, so Melanie left. Lucas contemplated whether or not to risk his sobriety. He thought about Chloe returning his ring; then, took a swig. Meanwhile, Melanie returned home to Maggie's and mentioned meeting Lucas at the pub ordering a drink. Maggie raced for the phone.
Victor told an annoyed Philip that Brady locked up the Kaiser account. Philip was annoyed, since that was his account. Victor asked about the alternative fuels project and said he asked Brady to step in and do some PR with Melanie. Father and son bickered. Philip asked for another chance to tackle this alone. Victor agreed, but warned Philip not to make another mistake. Philip and Brady bickered, after Victor left. Brady swore he had no interest in working with Melanie. Kate arrive d and told Philip her tests results weren't in yet, but she was keeping positive. Victor returned, and Philip left. Kate sensed the father/son tension. Victor noted Philip had screwed up, and he called him on it. Kate announced she was going to make things right for her sons, if she got a good medical report. Kate pondered what had happened with Chloe. Victor called Chloe a tramp who destroyed men. Kate defended Chloe and vowed to fix things between her and Lucas. Kate went on about distancing herself from Daniel, because she didn't want him to endure what he lived through with his wife with her. But she still cared for him and was going to tell him. Later, Kate found Daniel at the hospital and invited him out for a drink and dessert at his place. "There is something I need to tell you," responded Daniel. Kate assumed it was bad news on her test results.
EJ ran into Brady. They discussed Nicole and the wedding. EJ noted Brady wasn't on the guest list. Brady said Nicole was making the biggest mistake of her life. After EJ left, Philip approached Brady and accused him of talking to EJ behind his back. Brady insisted they weren't discussing the fuels project. Philip wouldn't listen and stormed off to the DiMera mansion. EJ answered, and Philip accused him of using Melanie to steal the fuels project from Titan. "We are going to settle this right here, right now," insisted Philip.
Thursday
Philip yelled and threatened EJ, insisting he wouldn't let Melanie take the alternative fuels project away from Titan. Tony interrupted the bickering boys, noting they shouldn't be pitting their families against each other. EJ called Philip arrogant for firing Melanie and then expecting her to do business with him. He ordered Philip to leave. Philip obliged, and Tony told EJ he had a lot to learn. Tony and EJ began arguing about DiMera Enterprises. Tony yelled that he'd worked tirelessly to put the company on top, while EJ was setting up a war with the Kiriakis family. If Stefano learned what EJ was up to, Tony was sure he'd fire him. EJ reminded Tony that Stefano had confidence in what he was doing and called himself the "golden child." After EJ left, Tony muttered that EJ was a fool and playing with fire.
Kate worried that Daniel was about to give her bad medical news. Suddenly, a nurse appeared and handed Daniel an envelope. He opened it and announced Kate was in remission. Kate was thrilled. "I have so much hope," smiled Kate, noting she wanted to embrace life and the people she loved. Then, she kissed Daniel. He backed off, telling Kate to share her good news with her kids. When Kate left, Daniel pondered breaking the news about his affair with Chloe to her and Lucas.
Maggie phoned Lucas when Melanie told her he was drinking. Lucas didn't to answer. Instead, he chatted with the bartender and told him to keep the drinks coming. Maggie told Melanie about Lucas's drinking problem; then, headed off to find him. Lucas was now at the Cheatin' Heart. He picked up his glass, but Maggie grabbed it from him. Lucas went off about Chloe and why she broke up with him. Finally, Maggie told him: "Chloe is having an affair!" Lucas asked with whom, and Maggie admitted it was Daniel. "I'm going to kill that dude," spat Lucas.
Chloe confided her love dilemma in her new priest pal. She loved stable, secure Lucas, but longed for the passion and excitement provided by Daniel. "What is wrong with me?" she asked. The priest asked to hear Chloe's story from the beginning. Chloe explained about Kate's bone morrow transplant, meeting Daniel, and embarking on an affair with him. The priest told Chloe she merely fell in love and advised her to follow her heart. He would pray for her. When the priest left, Chloe prayed that God would send her sign. Suddenly, she got a call and knew that was it.
Chelsea met Stephanie on the docks and revealed she'd kissed Max. Steph said she was happy for the two of them. Chelsea asked about Philip. Steph filled her in on the problem with Melanie. Chelsea advised Steph not to give up on Philip and to lay down the law with Melanie. Steph headed off to do just that.
Abe and Theo visited Lexie at the hospital. Theo showed his mother a drawing of their family on a boat. When Abe had to leave for work, Theo cried for him to stay. Chelsea showed up and volunteered to take Theo to his session. Theo pointed to Abe and Lexie and said, "family," much to their delight.
Philip arrived at Maggie's to see Melanie. "Why are you here?" asked Melanie. Philip responded with a passionate kiss. Melanie was stunned. Philip said he fought this like crazy, but he couldn't stop thinking of her. The pair resumed kissing, just as Steph walked up to door and saw them.
Friday
Chloe asked God for a sign to help her decide between Lucas and Daniel. Daniel and Lucas dialed her number at the same time. Chloe answered her phone and it was Daniel, saying they needed to meet at his place to talk. At the Cheatin' Heart a drunk Lucas had dialed the wrong number. He told Maggie he couldn't wait to confront Chloe and blamed her for getting Chloe and Daniel together. Lucas ordered another drink. Maggie tried reverse psychology and ordered a glass of scotch. Lucas begged Maggie not to drink. Maggie begged Lucas to think of his children. Lucas insisted they were better off without him. Maggie tossed Lucas's drink. Lucas started yelling about Daniel; then, said he didn't feel well and put his head down on the table. Maggie went to get her car, and Lucas suddenly sat up, laughed, and left the bar. Maggie returned an realized Lucas had duped her.
Chloe arrived at Daniel's, when an alarm went off. Outside, a maintenance man made a repair as a gas pipe leaked. Daniel explained Kate's cancer was in remission, noting that her illness was the last reason to keep their relationship secret. He asked if Chloe was having second thoughts about hi m. Chloe told Daniel about her experience in the park, asking for a sign and getting it. "I know I'm supposed to be with you," she said. The couple started kissing, but Daniel's phone rang and he had to go. Daniel asked Chloe to wait for him. Daniel went to the hospital, where Maggie met him and asked if he's seen Lucas. Meanwhile, Lucas arrived at Daniel's and threatened to bash the door down unless he came outside. Chloe freaked. Suddenly there was an explosion.
Brady found Nicole and Sydney at the pub, and Nicole filled him in on Dr. Baker's theory he was in love with her. Brady went off about it. Nicole thought it could be true. After all, Brady did take on Victor for her. Brady admitted he did love her, but as a friend. The duo discussed Victor and Brady's sobriety. Nicole wondered if she'd seen the last of Dr. Baker and admitted she'd thought about killing him. Brady suggested telling EJ the truth was a better alternative.
EJ told Stefano he had the sales contract for the alternative fuels project and planned to stick it to Philip. Stefano worried about handling Melanie, knowing how needy she was. The minute she told Philip she had that contract, he would do anything to change things. Stefano noted that Philip was the one thing Melanie wanted. EJ vowed not to let Melanie cross them or she'd pay. He promised he'd close the deal. Stefano suggested EJ move on to his next project: dra wing up an airtight prenup between him and Nicole. Later, at the pub, EJ fumed about Stefano's prenup suggestion, insisting he was marrying Nicole for love. Stefano thought his son was a fool.
Philip and Melanie smooched, while Stephanie stood outside and watched. Steph raced in and called Philip a bastard. Then, she told Melanie that Philip was playing her. He'd do anything to get the alternative fuels project. Philip insisted Steph was lying. Steph demanded Philip make a choice. Philip picked Melanie. Steph stormed off and ran into Chelsea. Steph filled her in on what went down. "I'm not going to be stupid, sweet Stephanie anymore. I'm going to do something about it," vowed Steph, racing off. Meanwhile, Philip continued laying it on thick with Melanie, admitting he'd always had a thing for her. Melanie, however, saw through him, saying she knew this was all a big, fat lie. She noted how Philip's passion only ignited after she was working with EJ and told him not to trip on his way out. Philip left, furious. Soon there was a knock on the door. Melanie opened it to find Steph, who slapped her.
Later, Nicole, Sydney and Brady arrived at the mansion. Nicole asked Brady to reassure her everything would be okay with EJ. Brady promised her no one would ever know the truth about Sydney.
