DAYS Week of February 1, 2010
Monday
Bo chatted with Ciara via computer, as the tyke, Maggie and Caroline looked on. Bo got called away, and Carly arrived. She told Bo she and Melanie had a nice talk; hence, Melanie was ready to know she was her mom. Bo was against the idea, fearing it would make it easier for Vivian to find out the truth. Soon, the pair were kissing. Ciara, who was alone at her laptop, watched the makeout fest. Later, Caroline took Ciara to visit Bo, just as Carly was leaving and professing her love to him. Ciara went upstairs, and Caroline chastised Bo about what she and Ciara walked in on. They went back and forth about the state of his marriage. Caroline noted Bo had to do what was best for Ciara and it didn't include Carly.
Hope listened as Vivian left a message for Melanie. She asked why Vivian was so wrapped up in the girl. Vivian swore it was because of Philip. Hope thought there was more to it. Vivian wondered why Hope was being so antagonistic, pointing out they were both Carly's victims. "She took your husband. She killed my nephew," said Vivian, noting she could have left well enough alone, if Carly hadn't offed Lawrence. Hope wondered what Vivian meant. Vivian confessed her original motive for coming to Salem was revenge; then, rushed off. Hope realized Vivian was still after Carly, but wondered what Melanie had to do with it.
Melanie arrived at the hospital and told Maxine she was there so Dr. Manning could look at her hand. Maxine said Carly wasn't there. Nathan walked up and went to tend to Melanie. "Don't touch me," she snapped. Nathan suggested Melanie see another doctor as Carly approached. She examined Melanie's hand and they talked about the wedding. Carly brought up Nathan. Melanie got defensive. Carly noted it was okay if Melanie still had feelings for him and tried to dissuade her from rushing into marriage. Melanie insisted she loved Philip and invited Carly to attend their wedding.
Stephanie lamented to Justin about thinking she was in love with Nathan, but him not loving her back. Justin wondered if he was hung up on someone else. Steph admitted he was, but swore it was over. She just worried he was lying to himself. Justin suggested Steph open up to Nathan. Adrienne phoned, and Justin took the call. Hope phoned Henderson to see if Vivian was there; then, ran into Justin. He explained Adrienne told him Hope called to nudge her into giving him another chance. Hope dodged and led Justin off. At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope apologized for calling Adrienne; then, headed upstairs to search Vivian's room. Vivian returned home. Justin stalled her, until Hope came downstairs. Vivian left, and Hope went to work on Vivian's puzzle box. She opened it and read a note inside. "Damn you, Brady," she spat. Meanwhile, Vivian met Gus and planned Melanie's demise.
Nathan and Steph were at the park. He explained he'd put in for a break from work and was going to Alpine Valley. He wondered if Steph would come with him. She was eager to go. Nathan wanted to leave on Valentine's Day. Steph reminded Nathan that was the day of Philip and Melanie's wedding, so they should leave afterwards.
Chad stopped by his father's office and thanked him for letting him go to the Olympics. They touched on Chad's past and his father said he was sure his son was going to do great now that Mia was out of his life. Gabi, Kinsey and T chatted about their upcoming trip at Java Cafe. Mia listened and brooded. Soon, Chad was with Gabi and company discussing their trip. Mia told Will she had to check on Maggie and split. Will showed up at Maggie's, but Mia wasn't there. Will confided that Mia had changed since Grace's death. Mia turned up at Chad's father's office. He wasn't happy to see her, noting Chad told him she was out of his life. Mia lied, saying Chad invited her to Vancouver. Back at the coffeehouse, Will questioned Mia about not going to Maggie's. She talked her way out of it. Chad got a call and then told Gabi, Kinsey and T his dad canceled their trip. A smug Mia told the foursome they could still watch the Olympics on TV.
Tuesday
EJ told Anna their scam was almost over, admitting he was thrilled Sami and Rafe split up. Anna thought what EJ was doing was cruel and fretted Sydney would grow up knowing her father hates her mother. EJ suggested Sydney might not know her mother at all. "I hold all the cards," he sneered. EJ got ready to leave, but told Anna he was concerned about her attitude. "I'm doing what's best for Sydney. Are we clear?" he asked. "Very," said Anna, realizing EJ was a true DiMera.
Carly didn't think it was a good idea to attend Melanie's wedding. Melanie pressed. Carly agreed to think about it, and they hugged. Bo approached and scolded Carly for not staying away from Melanie. He worried that if Carly went to Melanie's wedding, Vivian would figure out she was her daughter. Bo wanted Carly to move back in with him until things were settled. Bo told Carly she was the only person he could just be with these days. Carly was touched, noting she thought her life was over when she came to Salem, "not just beginning." Bo said he couldn't promise her anything; then, they kissed.
Nathan and Stephanie perused the Alpine Valley website. Nathan wanted to book their check-in for February 14. Steph reiterated she couldn't go that day — she had to help Melanie with her wedding. Nathan got a call from the hospital and left. Arianna arrived and told Steph she couldn't guarantee she'd be able to be Melanie's maid of honor, since she might be going to prison. Melanie overheard and suggested Steph fill the position if necessary. Steph said she couldn't. Melanie wondered why. Was it because of Philip or Nathan? Steph thought it would be weird to be in Philip's wedding.
Nathan was performing surgery, when blood started spewing everywhere. Carly took over. Afterwards, Carly accused Nathan of not concentrating. She wondered if he'd been thinking about Melanie. Nathan erupted, admitting he screwed up, but insisted his personal life was personal. Carly pressed about Nathan's issues with Melanie. "I do not have any issues with Melanie," he retorted, storming off.
Arianna met Roman at the police station. He explained the DEA agent finally saw the light. "Not only are you not going to prison, you're getting a commendation," he announced. Arianna thanked Roman with a hug. On her way out, she mentioned Anna and asked if Roman knew she was back in town. Roman thought it was odd Anna hadn't called him, so he called her and asked where she was. "Spain," said Anna. "Wrong answer," retorted Roman, noting he knew Anna was in town. Arianna phoned Melanie to tell her she wasn't going to jail. Then, she left a message for Brady. EJ overheard and asked what the great news was. After hanging up with Arianna, Melanie said she still wanted Steph to be her bridesmaid. Steph reluctantly agreed. Melanie saw the Apple Valley page on Steph's computer and asked who Steph was going there with. "A sorority sister," lied Steph.
Vivian told Gus she planned to eliminate Melanie on her wedding day. "Gives til death do us part a real punch," she cracked, before giving Gus a shopping list. Victor arrived, and Gus left. Victor accused Vivian of plotting something and warned it better not be against Melanie. She swore it wasn't. Gus phoned and told Vivian he got everything on her list. Later, Gus returned, but Vivian sent him off to make an appointment for her. Alone, Vivian muttered, "I'm sorry, Victor... Carly's pain has to equal mine... She has to lose Melanie."
Hope read Lawrence's note aloud to Justin. She realized Carly had another man's baby and assumed it was Bo's. Justin thought Hope was jumping to conclusions. Hope realized the child wasn't Bo's, but wished he would have shared this with her. Hope decided to go talk to Bo. She hugged Justin goodbye. Victor watched and warned Justin to stay away from Bo's wife. Justin retorted that Bo and Hope were history, and there was nothing Victor could do about it. Hope walked along the pier and thought back to Bo telling her Carly's secret had nothing to do with them. She ran smack into Vivian, who dropped her bag. Bo returned home carrying a suitcase. He paid the sitter and pondered how to tell Ciara that Carly was moving in. He got a call and went outside to take it. Inside, someone spotted Carly's suitcase. Bo returned to find Carly's clothes tattered on the floor. "Vivian!" he yelled, running upstairs to find Ciara.
Wednesday
Carly apologized to Nathan for butting into his personal life. Nathan said he and Melanie weren't together that long, so it was no big deal things didn't work out between them. Nathan wondered why Carly cared; then, said he'd never once mentioned Bo to her. Daniel interrupted, asking if there was a problem. Nathan left to make rounds. Carly apologized for crossing a line with Nathan and explained all to Daniel. She went on about Nathan and Melanie, noting she married Victor and Lawrence instead of following her heart and it was a disaster. She didn't want Melanie making the same mistake.
Hope realized Vivian didn't want her to see what was in the bag she dropped. Vivian admitted she was right. It contained a surprise wedding gift for Melanie. Hope geared the conversation to Melanie's mother. Did Vivian know anything about her? Vivian said she knew Melanie's mother died. Later, Vivian met with a mystery man about something she needed by Valentine's Day. He presented her with a wrapped present, warning it was "lethal."
Bo called out for Ciara after finding Carly's shredded clothes. Ciara emerged holding scissors, swearing she didn't do it. Bo explained Carly was moving into the house. He said she was nice, and Ciara might like her. "No! I hate her," said Ciara. Bo tried to get Ciara to admit she cut up Carly's clothes to no avail. Hope arrived and saw the clothes. Bo explained it was Ciara's handy work. Hope couldn't believe it; then, asked why Carly's clothes were there. "She's moving back into the house," revealed Bo. Hope was furious. "No wonder she's acting out," she spat, scolding Bo for inviting a murderer into their home. "Our little baby is crying out for attention." Hope decided she couldn't let Ciara come back into their house. She wasn't sure Bo should even see his daughter any more. Carly watched.
Kate showed Stefano the dress she was planning to wear to Philip's wedding. The doorbell rang. Stefano answered it and was served with an eviction notice courtesy of EJ. Kate couldn't believe EJ would go this far. Stefano wasn't worried, noting EJ knew he'd never get him out of there. Stefano changed the subject Philip. He thought Kate would be more involved in his wedding. "Vivian has taken control," announced Kate. "Just push this idiot woman aside and ingratiate yourself," advised Stefano.
Philip and Melanie chitchatted about their wedding arrangements. Kate interrupted. She asked if the couple still needed help. After Melanie left, Philip dropped a bombshell: he wanted both Kate and Vivian to walk him down the aisle. Kate refused. Philip noted how nice Vivian had been to Melanie. "Because she is trying to push me out," spat Kate. Philip wanted everyone to be happy. Kate reluctantly agreed to his wishes.
Rafe told Brady that Arianna wasn't going to prison, but wondered if he'd done her any favors. "If Mr. Big wants revenge. She might be safer in prison," admitted Rafe. Meanwhile, Arianna confided to EJ that she was concerned the big boss knew who she was. EJ didn't think she needed to worry. If the guy was going to retaliate, he would have. EJ and Arianna toasted to her freedom. Brady and Rafe arrived. EJ made a crack about Rafe's FBI boys not turning up anything new on Sydney. Rafe told Arianna he was beginning to doubt himself. Worse yet, Sami had lost faith in him. Rafe left and headed to church to pray for guidance to find Sydney. Brady pulled Arianna into a kiss.
EJ returned to the mansion. Stefano spat that he'd given his son time to mourn and made allowances for his anger, but enough was enough. He scolded EJ over the perverse joy he was getting out of revenge. "That is not the man that I know you to be," roared Stefano.
Roman asked Anna why she was lying about being in Salem. Anna explained she was there to wrap up Tony's estate and it was difficult on her. Roman asked what else Anna had been up to. Anna mentioned Sami and that Roman was going to hate her when she told him the truth. She said Carrie wanted her to visit Sami, but she couldn't. Roman urged her to do it. Sami needed friends, now. Anna headed to Sami's, but no one was home, so she slid a note under the door. Anna turned around to find Rafe.
Vivian walked into the mansion and showed Melanie her wedding dress. Melanie thanked her, noting the more she got to know Vivian, the more she realized she just wanted to be loved. Vivian handed Melanie the lethal gift and told her to open it.
Thursday
Carly interrupted Hope threatening to keep Ciara away from Bo. "Why would you do that?" asked Carly, accusing Hope of punishing the child. Hope insisted she was protecting her daughter from the murderer Bo had invited to live in their home. That's why she was taking Ciara and filing for sole custody. The spatting continued, until Ciara bounced down the stairs and begged her parents to "stop fighting." Hope said they were leaving. "Why, because Daddy's mad at me?" asked Ciara. Bo told Ciara he was disappointed about what she'd done, but wasn't mad at her. Hope scooped Ciara up and they left. Bo flipped. Carly said she was moving out. Bo wouldn't let her. "I can't lose you on top of everything else," he said. Later, Bo thanked Carly for staying, and the pair commiserated about their daughters.
Hope and Ciara arrived at the Java Café. Hope reprimanded the tyke for ruining Carly's clothes. Justin asked Hope how things went at Bo's. Hope filled him in, while Ciara went off for a drink. Ciara returned to the table, and Hope went off to get coffee. She watched Justin interact with Ciara and realized this was all wrong.
Kate arrived at Maggie's to warn Melanie about Vivian. Kate went off about Vivian hijacking Melanie and Philip's wedding and how dangerous she is. Maggie noted that Melanie was at the Kiriakis mansion with Vivian, right now. Kate took off. Meanwhile, Vivian handed Melanie her lethal gift and urged her to open it. She imagined putting the deadly comb in Melanie's hair; then, Carly rushing in just as Melanie fell to the floor. Vivian had a change of heart and decided Melanie should open the gift on her wedding day. Kate arrived, and Melanie split, leaving her present behind. Kate accused Vivian of using Melanie to get revenge on her. Vivian got a call and went off to take it. Kate grabbed the present and left, vowing Vivian wouldn't steal her thunder or Philip. Alone with Gus, Vivian noted she'd be giving Melanie her gift on her wedding day. Then, she noticed it was gone and realized Kate took it. Kate sat in the park ranting about Vivian; then, began unwrapping the present.
Melanie went home to Maggie's and said she had something important to ask her. Would Maggie be the mother of the bride at her wedding? Maggie said she'd be honored, and they hugged.
Johnny and Sami arrived at the DiMera mansion. After the tyke went off to play video games, Sami questioned EJ about a brochure she noticed mentioning a pirate adventure tours. EJ said he and Johnny would be going. Sami reamed EJ for not checking with her, first. Johnny returned. Sami told him to have fun with his daddy and left. EJ told Johnny they were going on a little trip — just him, Johnny and his sister.
Rafe caught Anna slipping a note under Sami's door and started questioning her. He took Anna inside and continued badgering her. Sami interrupted and introduced the twosome. Anna said she was there to offer her support, noting Roman told her about the kidnapping. Rafe went off to pack his things, while Anna questioned Sami about her kids. Sami went on about Sydney. She couldn't imagine what kind of sick maniac would kidnap her. Sami prayed her little girl was being well taken care of. Anna was sure she was. No one would harm such a beautiful little girl. Finally, Anna left, just as Rafe emerged carrying boxes. Rafe noticed how jumpy Anna seemed. On his way out, Rafe assured they would get Sydney back. Inside, Sami hoped Anna was right and Sydney was being treated well. Back at the cabin, Anna held Sydney and mentioned how sad Sami looked. "Am I doing the right thing helping your daddy ... keeping you from your mommy?" she lamented.
At the DiMera mansion, EJ was ready to make a call, when Rafe showed up at the door. He announced he had a question about EJ's sister-in-law, Anna DiMera.
Friday
Carly asked Daniel if she could work a particular hospital shift. He realized it coincided with Melanie's wedding. Carly said she couldn't attend and didn't want to hurt Melanie's feelings. Daniel questioned Carly's interest in Melanie. Carly denied having one. Chloe interrupted. Daniel got a page and left. Alone, Carly suggested Chloe tell Daniel she was hurting about not being able to conceive a baby. Chloe swore she felt differently about that now and was sure she and Daniel would have a family. Later, Chloe chatted with Father Matt about how she was pretending to accept her inability to get pregnant. In reality, she was hoping for a miracle. The priest cautioned that what people wanted, was not always God's plan.
Vivian fumed when she realized Kate snatched her lethal gift for Melanie. "I have to get it back," she vowed. Melanie ran into Kate and wondered who the present she was holding was for. Then, she realized it was the gift Vivian got her. Kate covered that it was from her and Vivian, who had made peace. Kate handed Melanie the gift. She was about to open it, when Vivian arrived and stopped her. Vivian accused Kate of stealing the present. Melanie split. Kate noted how Vivian stealing Philip's embryo was a lot worse. Vivian countered that Kate was losing it because she'd replaced her in Victor and Philip's lives. Gus arrived, and he and Vivian left.
Melanie arrived to see Carly, who told her she couldn't come to her wedding. Then, she gave Melanie a gift. Melanie thought the bracelet looked like a family heirloom. Carly swore it wasn't, and Melanie accepted it. Carly phoned Bo and left a message that she wouldn't be going to Melanie's wedding. Kate approached and noted she and Carly could help each other. "First you have to tell me what the connection is between you, Vivian, and Melanie Layton," she said.
Brady turned up at Sami's door. Sami noted Anna had just been there and recounted how upset she seemed about Sydney's kidnapping. Sami reminisced about her and her siblings growing up. She fretted that her children wouldn't even know their little sister. The conversation turned to Rafe. Sami admitted feeling more hopeful when he was around. Brady suggested Sami try to work things out with Rafe. Sami didn't think that was a possibility. Rafe barged into the DiMera mansion and announced he'd just spoke to Anna. He wondered if she knew something about Sydney's kidnapping and suggested doing some investigating. EJ said Anna lost her husband and was still in mourning. He didn't want Rafe bothering her. Besides, he'd been in contact with Anna, and she'd been supportive. "She had nothing to do with Sydney's disappearance," insisted EJ, insinuating Rafe was trying to ingratiate himself back into Sami's life. Sami interrupted. EJ said Rafe was accusing Anna of kidnapping Sydney and asked him to leave. Rafe split, but took Sami with him. Soon, they were back at Sami's fighting about Anna. Rafe asked if Sami thought he was
questioning Anna, because he was clutching at straws and wanted her back. "Do you?" asked Sami. Rafe admitted he did, and they professed their love to each other and kissed.
Anna rambled to Sydney about how this kidnapping plan was getting scary. "I have to make it right," she bemoaned. EJ phoned and reprimanded Anna. Later, he arrived at the cabin. Anna swore that Roman forced her to visit Sami. EJ was angry and told Anna she was leaving, tonight. Anna asked about the money EJ owed her. EJ didn't pay for failure. Anna was furious.
Nathan sat at the pub, drinking beers, and reading about Philip and Melanie's nuptials, while waiting for Stephanie. Steph arrived, and a tipsy Nathan said he didn't care about the wedding. Steph wanted to discuss their trip to Alpine Valley, but got a call and headed off. Nathan kept drinking. Later, he headed outside and ran smack into Melanie. Melanie asked what was wrong. "You marrying Philip," responded Nathan.
Daniel and Brady jogged and chatted about their love lives. Brady asked about Chloe and Daniel getting married and starting a family. Daniel got uncomfortable, but admitted he'd love to be a dad. Meanwhile, Chloe chatted with Steph about Melanie and Philip's wedding. Chloe mistakenly thought it was a week away. The calendar mix up made her realize something. "Could I be pregnant," she wondered.
