DAYS Week of December 8, 2008
Monday
Stefano and EJ were concluding a diamond deal with Ramon, when he pulled out a gun and prepared to kill them. Stefano returned the favor calling his minions to attack Ramon and company. Stefano decided to spare his enemies death, since it was Christmas. So he just had them beaten. Afterwards, EJ argued with Stefano about what went down. Stefano accused EJ of having no character and told him he needed to toughen up. EJ said not wanting to be held at gunpoint or watch men get beaten up wasn't a character flaw.
Nicole freaked upon finding Rafe in her bedroom. He said he was there from the cable company. Nicole didn't buy it. Mary said she'd let Rafe in. Nicole looked at Rafe's work order and noticed he was at the wrong address. Rafe apologized. Nicole's cell rang and it was her brother, Brandon. She ordered Mary and Rafe to leave; then, told Brandon she was pregnant. Rafe stalled downstairs, noting he'd asked Mary for some water and probed Nicole about her pregnancy. Finally, he left. Nicole followed suit.
Sami and Hilda decorated the tree in the safe house. Hilda told Sami to make a wish on the star. Sami wished she could be with her “two little angels” for Christmas. (So much for big brother Will.) Rafe returned and Hilda l eft. Sami asked if Rafe had seen EJ. Rafe admitted he hadn't, but he did see Nicole. Sami went off about what a phoney Nicole was and how she'd gotten pregnant by EJ. Rafe said Nicole seemed like she was hiding something and was very sad. “She's not sensitive enough to be sad,” spat Sami, asking Rafe where he saw Nicole. When Rafe noted it was her bedroom, Sami told him he'd blown it. The DiMeras had cameras throughout the house.
John caught Brady with what he thought was cocaine and accused him of still being an addict. Brady was angry, noting he found the vial. Then, he destroyed it. Brady accused John of being uncaring, noting it took a lot of work for him to get his life back. John was flip, cracking the old John would have taken out a billboard to celebrate his son's kicking the habit. Brady was sad. He used to have a father who cared and believed in him. Now, he didn't. John said he was trying to care. That's why he was seeing a shrink. He told Brady about seeing Dr. Charlotte. Brady was glad it went well. John said he was glad Brady was clean and proud of him.
EJ and Stefano returned to the mansion. Mary said Nicole
had gone out after the cable man left, noting he'd come to the wrong address. Mary split and Stefano wondered who their visitor had been. EJ suggested it was just an innocent mistake. Stefano said there were no innocent mistakes when it came to t he DiMeras, and insisted they run the surveillance DVD. Stefano learned their visitor had disabled their security system and vowed to get a new one.
The bartender prepared to make Nicole her favorite drink at the Cheatin' Heart. She declined, noting she was with child. Max overheard, congratulated Nicole on her baby news, and said he owed her an apology. When he'd heard she'd been charged with Trent's death he was relieved, thinking his sister was off the hook. Nicole accepted Max's apology and asked how things were going with Melanie. Max said he'd learned family wasn't the same as biology. Nicole admitted always forgetting Max was adopted. He seemed like a Brady. The subject of adoption gave Nicole an idea. She asked Max if she could borrow his laptop. Nicole surfed the internet on adoption, when Brady interrupted and asked what the hell she was doing.
Tuesday
EJ wondered if there was a connection between what happened on the pier and the security system. Stefano said whoever disabled the system was a highly trained professional. The conversation turned to Nicole. Stefano thought EJ should marry her to have a legal claim to their child. "What is standing in your way? It's Samantha isn't it?" asked Stefano. EJ swore he wanted nothing to do with Sami. Stefano wasn't convinced. Later, EJ arrived in Roman's office asking to talk to Sami What he had to say would affect her future. Roman okayed the call, but wanted to listen in.
Sami freaked that Rafe went into the DiMera mansion, despite Rafe noting he'd disabled the security system. Sami insisted Stefano would still know Rafe was there; hence, putting his life in danger. Sami continued to freak and had another meltdown about missing her twins. Sami told Rafe she wanted to visit Sister Teresa. Rafe nixed the idea and headed to the shower. Rafe emerged to find Sami in the kitchen baking cookies. Later, Sami stood by the Christmas tree and asked what a pickle was doing hanging from it. Rafe noted it was a German tradition. Hilda told him whoever found the pickle first got good luck all year. Sami didn't buy it. The phone rang and Rafe answered it. Roman asked to speak to Sami. Sami got on and Roman handed the phone to EJ.
Chelsea found Max looking at the box Trent left him. He went to toss it. "You don't want to do that," cautioned Chelsea, asking Max to come with her. They ended up in his room, where Max finally opened the box. Inside he found a small stuffed dog named Charlie. He flashed back to Trent taking it away from him as a child. Chelsea told Max there was something else in the box and handed him an envelope. Max opened it and read, "I'm sorry." Chelsea hugged him.
Lucas and Chloe walked on the pier and chatted about Chloe being Kate's bone-marrow donor. Chloe was glad Kate knew they were engaged. Now she could wear her ring, even though it still had to be sized. Chloe decided to pull it off and it ended up flying into the river. Lucas dove in after it. Lucas returned with the ring and put it back on Chloe's finger.
Brady confronted Nicole about searching adoption Web sites on the Internet. "You're not going to tell EJ about losing the baby are you?" asked Brady, warning Nicole what would happen if Stefano found out. Brady told Nicole that EJ would still love her, even if she ‘fessed up about losing their baby. Nicole begged Brady for his help. Brady threatened to tell EJ the truth. Chloe and Lucas walked in. Chloe filled them in on the engagement ring caper. Nicole freaked when she learned Lucas and Chloe were engaged. Lucas and Brady went to fetch drinks for everyone and discussed Chloe's upcoming bone marrow donation. Lucas told Brady not to send Chloe any flowers, when she was in the hospital. Brady told Lucas to chill. Chloe sensed something was up with Nicole and worried about Brady being at the bar. It would be easy place for him to score drugs. Brady returned and praised Chloe for her bravery regarding Kate, while Nicole went off to chat with Rick the bartender. She asked about getting cocaine for a friend and handed him some money. Lucas and Chloe left. Nicole faked a cramp and asked Brady to get her aspirin. When he left, she slipped cocaine into his drink. Brady returned. Nicole handed him his glass and encouraged him to drink up.
Wednesday
Brady was about to down Nicole's cocaine spiked drink, when he got a call from Marlena. Brady returned, and Nicole begged him not to tell EJ she lost the baby. Brady wouldn't budge and raised his glass. Nicole pushed the drink from his hand and ran. Brady caught up with Nicole, who confessed she'd laced his drink with cocaine. "How could you do this to me?" asked the former addict. Nicole explained if she got Brady hooked again, it would discredit anything he told EJ about the baby. She went on about EJ being the first man in ages to care about her. She loved EJ and couldn't lose him. Brady countered that people in love didn't lie to each other. Nicole and Brady went back and forth. Finally, Brady relented. This was Nicole's life. He promised not to say a word to EJ about her miscarriage. Relieved, Nicole hugged Brady.
Chloe got off the phone with her parents and complained about them being unsupportive. Lucas wondered if Chloe was having second thoughts about being Kate's bone marrow donor. She wasn't. At the hospital Daniel was visiting Kate, when a nurse called and gave him Chloe's file. Daniel phoned Chloe, said there was a problem with her white cell count and summoned her to the hospital. While Daniel checked Chloe, Lucas went to see Kate. They discussed Chloe coming to Kate's rescue. Daniel examined Chloe, who remained determined to help Kate, just as her baby sister had helped her. Daniel and Chloe's eyes met. Chloe turned away. Daniel made a quick exit and told Lucas that Chloe was fine. Daniel went to sit with Kate, as Lucas and Chloe left.
Sami was on the phone with EJ, who called to say goodbye. He wanted a family with Nicole and their child. He loved Nicole. Sami told EJ to go be with his trashy girlfriend and warned him he was ruining his life. EJ said it sounded like Sami cared. Sami did. EJ was Johnny's father and she didn't want Nicole raising her son. EJ swore Nicole had changed. Sami begged to differ, calling Nicole a slut. EJ called Sami on being upset that he wasn't pining after her any more and constantly wavering between him and Lucas. He was moving on. EJ hung up, despite Sami's pleas for him to wait. He told Roman he tried to do what was right.
Sami ranted about EJ and Nicole. "I hate men," she fumed. Rafe pointed out that at least Nicole told EJ she was pregnant. Sami insisted that baby or no baby, Nicole would screw up EJ's life. No matter, she'd make sure they didn't have a happy ending. "You've really got it bad for this guy," pointed out Rafe. Sami protested. She fretted about Nicole and said she had to find a way to get home. "Would that be after the b aby is born or before?" asked Rafe, noting EJ wasn't the monster Sami made him out to be. Sami countered that Stefano was. Rafe assured Sami a lot of people cared about her, including him, and vowed to protect her.
Nicole met up with EJ at the mansion. EJ explained how Stefano convinced him to get over the large hurdle in their relationship: Sami. Nicole misunderstood, accused EJ of leading her on, and raced upstairs to pack her bags. EJ followed and explained he phoned Sami to say goodbye and tell her he was moving on. "I love you," he whispered. Nicole and EJ kissed.
The mayor's killer received a phone call from an informant about Sami. Meanwhile, Roman vowed to find the murderer and keep him from his daughter. Later, the assassin met a man on the dock and handed him some cash. The man handed the assassin photos of Rafe, guaranteeing he would lead right to Sami.
Thursday
Lucas sat at Kate's bedside. She encouraged him to be with Chloe. Lucas was grateful his mom had accepted him and Chloe as a couple. Kate asked if Chloe had any reservations about being her bone marrow donor. Lucas said no, but admitted Chloe was nervous after her exam with Daniel. Daniel visited Chloe, who was ultra cold. Daniel asked if Chloe wanted to talk about what happened, when he'd examined her. Nope. Lucas entered and asked if everything was okay. Daniel noted Chloe was "a bit edgy" and her blood pressure was rising. If they couldn't get it under control, they'd have to call the procedure off. Lucas rubbed Chloe's back, and her numbers improved. Daniel left to check on Kate. Kate thanked Daniel for giving her life and making it so worth living. Lucas wheeled Chloe into Kate's room. Chloe assured her she wanted to do this for her.
Philip chatted on the phone, when Stephanie arrived for work. Melanie reported Marie went home sick. Philip worried about the presentation Marie was working on. Steph said she and Melanie would get it done. Melanie told Steph she wouldn't take orders from her. Kayla arrived to bring Steph her wallet. She told Philip that Kate was doing well. Steph left with Kayla to grab a cup of coffee and discuss Melanie. Steph said she could handle working with the brat. Later, Steph asked Melanie how the project was going. Melanie complained about the copy machine being broken. Steph reminded Melanie that Philip needed it today. Steph headed to the vault, noting she'd be with Philip the rest of the afternoon. Melanie slammed the vault door shut. Chelsea showed up looking for Philip. She chastised Melanie for having a cushy job, while Nick was on trial for murder. Chelsea poked her head into Philip's office, but it was empty. Turned out Philip was trapped in the vault with Steph, who pounded on the door. Philip told her it was no use. The door was on a timer, and the vault was soundproof. Sasha told Chelsea that Philip had gone to the vault. Melanie gulped. Philip tried to calm Steph. When she mentioned the whole thing being an accident, Philip said there was no such thing. "You think that I want to be trapped in here with you?" asked Steph. Philip was just messing with her. Steph wondered what the board would do when he missed their meeting. "Nothing, once they hear I was locked in the vault with a beautiful woman," he smiled, moving in for a kiss. Melanie walked in and broke things up.
Charlotte showed up for her first day of work and told Marlena they were sharing a reception area. John arrived for his session, and he and Charlotte went into her office. Marlena seemed annoyed by the laughter coming from Charlotte's office. Soon, Charlotte and John emerged. Marlena asks John if he was going to continue therapy. He was. Kayla popped in to talk to Marlena and asked about John's therapy. Marlena noted John was seeing Dr. Taylor. Kayla sensed a problem and asked if Marlena was jealous. Marlena swore she wasn't. Kayla wondered if Marlena wished she was the one helping John. Marlena admitted she did, recalling how she'd helped John when he first came to Salem. "I still love him," professed Marlena. "Don't give up on that," urged Kayla. Charlotte found John in the park, complaining of a headache. She said she wanted to try biofeedback in their next session. John wasn't sure he'd be back for another appointment. He feared therapy might work too well. "The guy I used to be was kind of a jerk," said John, noting that he'd like to have Blondie in his life again and was doing this for her. Charlotte promised to do her best to help him.
Friday
Tony confronted Stefano about why he wasn't part of the deal with the Argentinians. Stefano said he was teaching Tony a lesson: the family could move on without him. Besides, Elvis had skills Tony lacked. Upstairs, Nicole phoned Brady and summoned him to the Cheatin' Heart. EJ interrupted and asked what was going on. Nicole said it Christmas, which meant making secret plans. EJ gave Nicole a gift for their baby. Nicole sobbed. Tony arrived to speak to EJ. Nicole left. Tony announced he thought Stefano was grooming EJ as his successor and trying to stir things between them. Tony urged EJ to keep his eyes open; Stefano might need a fall guy. EJ insisted Stefano cared for his family. Tony suggested EJ talk to Lexie. She went to Stefano in a moment of weakness, now he was playing her. Tony believed Stefano would eventually set EJ up to get him under his control.
Nicole showed Brady a paper with a baby's picture and called it the answer to her prayers. Nicole got a call from woman who wanted to meet her about giving up her child. Nicole left. Brady followed. Kelly arrived, noting she was poor and skipping her visits to the clinic because she didn't have money. Nicole gave her some cash. Kelly left for the doctor and promised to call Nicole. Brady followed Kelly. Nicole followed Brady. They ended up at the Cheatin' Heart where Kelly was drinking and smoking. Brady called Kelly a two bit con.
Stefano visited Lexie at the hospital. Lexie asked him to leave. Stefano didn't want her feeling guilty about Moreno's murder. He noted their conversation about the mayor could have been misconstrued. That sounded like a threat to Lexie, who stormed off.
Melanie busted in on Philip and Steph's almost kiss in the vault. Philip asked Melanie to prepare the presentation notes. She said it was done. Philip praised Melanie and gave her the rest of the day off. After Melanie left, Steph noted Melanie might have been the one who locked them in the vault. "Maybe I should give her a raise," smiled Philip, asking what would have happened if that door hadn't opened. "We'll never know," said Steph. Philip asked Steph out. She declined, noting she had something to do first. Melanie ran to tell Max about Steph and Philip's encounter. Max didn't want to hear it. Melanie urged Max to go after Steph before she and Philip hooked up. Max realized Melanie was interested in Philip. Max told Melanie that Nick wanted to talk to her about something. Melanie recalled Nick mentioning dividing up the profits from his invention and decided to go visit him.
Rafe returned to the safe house and Sami was thrilled. She needed Rafe to do some Christmas shopping for her. Rafe refused. Sami cried. Rafe caved. Sami said all she wanted was the Laughing Penguin. Rafe left. Hilda started eating Sami's cookies. Sami snuck a call to Sister Teresa, promising to visit her soon. Meanwhile, the assassin spotted Rafe, as he searched for the sold out toy. Suddenly, he stabbed Rafe; then, held his knife to Rafe's throat.
Bo returned home grumbling about his grueling work schedule. No matter, Hope got him to start decorating their house for Christmas. Soon the tree was done, although Hope noticed the star was missing. Bo climbed up the ladder and placed the star on the tippy top, when he lost his balance and crashed to the floor. Hope ran over, asking if he was okay.
Lexie paid a visit to EJ at the mansion. EJ noted Tony was just there warning him about Stefano and used her as an example of what not to do, citing the Mareno incident. Lexie swore she never meant for anyone to get hurt. EJ pointed out that Lexie went to Stefano regarding threats against their family. "What did you expect?" he asked.
