Monday
After meeting with Gus, Vivian told Victor that Carly delivered a baby years ago in a Swiss hospital. They wondered who the father is and where the baby is now.
Hope told Justin that she's ready to move on from Bo and needed Justin to help her do it. He misunderstood and believed she shared the same feelings he has for her. She explained that she wanted him to be her lawyer and serve Bo with separation papers. He refused; Hope was confused. Justin revealed that he's in love with her. A stunned Hope didn't know how to respond. Justin told her that if she's in love with Bo, she must fight for her marriage.
At the Brady house, Bo confronted Carly, who had been avoiding him. She admitted she was angry with herself because she professed her love for Bo knowing he doesn't feel the same way. Bo received an alarming phone call, then told Carly that one of his sources discovered someone was asking questions at the Swiss hospital where she gave birth to her daughter. A panicked Carly was sure it was Vivian and worried that Vivian will carry out Lawrence's evil plan to kill her daughter. Caught up in the emotion, Bo and Carly kissed — just as Hope walked in.
Philip broke the news to Stephanie that he's marrying Melanie. Stephanie congratulated him.... Kate and Vivian descended on Melanie to make extravagant wedding plans. It didn't go over well. Gus then called Vivian with important news about Carly, so she rushed off. Nathan showed up at Maggie's house and Kate noticed the sparks between Melanie and Dr. H. She later told Philip, who accused her of stirring the pot. Back at the Horton house, Nathan asked Melanie if she's rushing things with Philip. She snapped and told him to mind his own business.
Gabi returned to Salem and informed Mia, Chad, Will, Tad and Kinsey that she's staying in town and is going to attend Salem High with them. Everyone was happy to hear the news, except for Mia, who was jealous that Gabi was getting so much attention. Later, Mia told Gabi that she'll have her back at school, but she secretly planned to do the exact opposite.
Tuesday
Sami discovered the note sent by the kidnapper. After yelling at EJ for not telling her sooner, Sami wanted to fill in Rafe. EJ argued that nobody is supposed to know, especially Rafe.... Rafe told Arianna that he's going crazy trying to find leads on Sydney's whereabouts. He headed to the DiMera mansion, where he came upon Sami and EJ arguing. Sami almost spilled the beans about the ransom note, but Rafe got a call about a lead on the missing baby. Rafe took the call in the other room and EJ warned Sami to keep mum. She scoffed that she can do what she wants.
Chloe confronted Brady after hearing from Daniel that Arianna is a drug dealer. Brady convinced Chloe that what she heard about Ari is only a false rumor, but after Chloe left, Brady realized that Ari's secret was slowly getting out. Later, Ari tried to push things along with Troy, but got nowhere. After their meeting, he realized his phone was missing. Ari found it and pocketed it. Brady, meanwhile, confronted Victor about blabbing about Ari. Victor was unfazed by his grandson's outburst and predicted a bad end for Arianna.
Vivian told Victor that she got more information about Carly's baby.... A deeply hurt Hope interrupted Bo and Carly's kiss, then confronted Bo. Carly left for the hospital, where she ran into Vivian. She gave Vivian a piece of her mind and Viv was thrilled that she was getting to Dr. Manning. Back at the Brady house, Bo and Hope had it out about their marriage. Hope fumed that Bo, Carly and her secret could all go to hell. Hope returned to the Kiriakis mansion and overheard Viv talking to Victor about Carly's secret.
Philip arrived at Maggie's, just as Melanie and Nathan were having a tense discussion about her upcoming nups. Nathan took off; Philip followed him to make it perfectly clear that Nathan and Mel are over.... Melanie insisted to Maggie that she is certain about her relationship with Philip, but had a hard time sounding convincing.... Lexie urged Nathan to tell Melanie how he really feels.... Philip asked Mel if she wanted to elope.
Mia "befriended" Gabi and they hung out at Maggie's house. Gabi was interested in volunteering at the hospital. Maggie overheard and said she would be delighted to get Gabi involved. Mia blurted out that she wanted to volunteer, too. After Gabi left, Maggie tried to get Mia to open up, and Mia expressed her pent-up feelings towards her mother.
Wednesday
Arianna notified Roman that she swiped Troy's cell phone. He tried to unlock it to get the number of the head of the drug cartel. Troy deduced that he left his phone at Java Café and told EJ, who activated a program on his phone to delete Troy's cell memory. Roman unlocked the phone, but it was too late: It had been wiped clean. EJ threatened to replace Troy with Arianna. Arianna worried that Troy would find out she had his phone. Roman assured her it would be okay and said he had a plan. Troy returned to Java and found his phone intact. He vowed to get even with Ari.
Carly was convinced Hope hated her for kissing Bo. She wondered if she should have even returned to Salem. Bo asked if Carly wished they hadn't kissed. She couldn't deal with her feelings for him. She decided to stay away from her daughter until Vivian is neutralized. Bo reminded Carly she's not alone. She dared to hope that she could have a future with him.... At the Kiriakis manse, Hope overheard Vivian tell Victor that she knows part of Carly's secret. Justin's arrival prevented Viv from saying more. Viv invited Hope and Justin to celebrate New Year's Eve with her and Victor, but they turned her down. Alone, Hope told Justin what she overheard and dropped the bomb about Bo and Carly kissing. Nevertheless, she wanted to protect Carly from Vivian. He had an idea about how they could do that.... Vivian informed Victor that once she discovers the identity of Carly's child, she plans on taking away that child — permanently.
Sami was about to tell Rafe about the note from Sydney's kidnapper when he received a call from his FBI contact. He then told her what the Feds would do if they received a ransom note. She realized that FBI involvement wouldn't necessarily protect Sydney and kept mum about the note.
Thursday
Sami and Rafe spent a quiet New Year's Eve together, but Sami was still grappling with whether or not to tell him about the ransom note. She received a text from EJ, who asked her to meet with him — and not tell Rafe.
Hope and Justin implemented their plan to search Vivian's room while Vivian and Victor were in Chicago.... Carly briefly told Daniel the truth about Lawrence. When Daniel tried to get the whole story out of her at the Java Caf, Vivian and Victor entered. Carly exited. Daniel warned Victor to lay off Carly. Vivian detailed her plan to find Carly's child. Vic was rattled by his encounter with Daniel and decided to cancel the Chicago trip. At the manse, Hope and Justin found a puzzle box in which Vivian hid the incriminating papers about Carly. They tried to open it, then heard Viv and Vic coming down the hallway. As a cover, Hope and Justin quickly kissed, just as Viv and Vic walked in.
Philip convinced Melanie to elope with him to Las Vegas that evening. Elsewhere, Daniel encouraged Nathan to tell Melanie how he felt. Nathan decided to go talk to Melanie, but ran into Philip on the way and learned that Phil and Mel were eloping. Nathan declared that he wouldn't allow Melanie to marry Philip and they got in a fistfight.... Stephanie dropped something something off at Maggie's and Mel told her about the elopement. Stephanie said she was happy for Mel, then warned Melanie to be faithful to Philip and not come in between her and Nathan. Melanie and Stephanie then wondered where the guys were. They got a call that Nate and Phil were in a holding cell — together.
