Monday
Chloe visited Philip, who had a gift for Parker. He found the song Chloe wrote to her sister Joy years earlier. She was touched. She then thanked him for being the first boy to ever look at her twice. (Cue the adorable flashback.) She also admitted he was the first boy she ever loved. They hugged.
Melanie stopped by Daniel's to visit with Parker. She told the baby that soon he'd be "Uncle Parker." A concerned Daniel asked if Melanie was pregnant. Melanie said no, but revealed she had stopped using birth control. He reminded her that being a parent was a lifelong commitment. She said she was confident in her decision, but he wasn't so sure, especially since she just told him that she couldn't live without Nathan. She insisted she loved her husband. Chloe returned home. Philip followed to pick up Melanie. Parker smiled at him; he was pleased.
At the Brady Pub, Stephanie told Caroline she would keep mum to protect her grandmother. Plus, she didn't want to rock the boat with Nathan again. Nathan entered during their chat. He asked what they were talking about. Steph lied that she received an e-mail from Kayla and Steve, who were now assigned to a place in Zanzibar and would be out of reach for awhile. Nathan felt they should postpone the nups, but Steph said no.
EJ tried to talk to a despondent, angry Johnny, who wanted his mother.... Sami wrapped Christmas gifts and got sad when she saw something for Sydney. She threw an ornament across the room, which nearly hit Rafe when he came in. He calmed her down, then left for work. EJ called Sami and asked to see her right away. She arrived at the DiMera manse, where EJ filled her in on Johnny's behavior. She wanted to go and comfort him, but EJ explained that she was there to give their son closure and to tell him she didn't love him anymore. "You're a complete sociopath!" she declared. "No, I'm a realist," he shrugged. She told him to go to hell and stormed off.
Abe visited Lexie and Theo at the hospital, where Theo got a booster shot. Theo surprised Abe by reading a book for him. Lexie was upset to realize her son didn't really understand what he was reading. Abe tried to calm her, to no avail. He asked how Sami was doing. Lexie revealed that Sami gave EJ full custody of Johnny and Sydney. Abe was baffled. Lexie pointed out that clearly, EJ had some leverage over her. Abe returned to the police station and asked Bo what was going on with Sami and EJ. Bo called Sami and summoned her to the station, ASAP. Sami entered just as Abe was threatening to fire Bo and Roman. Sami defended her father and uncle and reminded Abe how Lexie stole Bo and Hope's baby and didn't get in trouble and then cheated on Abe with Brandon. "Get your own house in order," Sami advised. "Stay the hell out of ours." Bo cautioned Sami to cool it, then asked if anyone was going to come forward and accuse Rafe of being an accessory to attempted murder. Sami insisted nobody would. The men walked out. Sami called EJ and said she would say whatever he wanted to Johnny. She headed back to the mansion and told EJ that he had to keep mum about Rafe's involvement in the cover up. EJ got Johnny, who was thrilled to see his mother. He hugged her but she had to push him away. EJ explained that Sami was there to say good-bye because she was married to Rafe now and couldn't have too many children around. EJ pushed Sami to tell Johnny she didn't love him. She did, reluctantly, but she gave Johnny the secret signal that she did love him while she was saying it, so the boy understood the truth.
Will visited Gabi at work. She gave him pictures that she took from Rafe and Sami's wedding. They looked at them and then noticed something weird.
At the hospital, Ben came upon Lexie, who was crying. She told him about what happened with Theo and it upset her. He gave her some tissues and offered to be there if she needed to talk. He hugged her. Abe found them together.
Rafe visited Victor, who hoped it was to kick Nicole around a bit. No, Rafe responded, then explained that he was their to discuss their common enemy: EJ. After, Rafe headed to the station. Gabi and Will came in with the troubling photo.
Caroline and Stephanie ran into each other at the hospital. They talked about her wedding, then Steph noted that nobody would ever know that Philip cheated on Melanie. Oops, except for Daniel: He overheard.
Tuesday
Rafe looked at the photo from the wedding under a magnifying glass. Will and Gabi noted that one of Johnny's pupils was white in every one. Rafe suggested they reprint the photos and take it from there. The trio headed to the loft and reprinted them; Johnny's pupil was still white. Rafe said he would handle it and asked Will not to tell Sami. The teens left. A concerned Rafe headed out, too.
Abe walked in on Ben hugging Lexie. He was not pleased. Sensing the tension, Ben excused himself. Once alone, Abe demanded to know what was going on. Nothing, insisted Lexie, who explained that Ben was comforting her about Theo. Abe asked why she didn't call him. Lexie thought he was overreacting and asked what was really going on. He admitted his conversation with Sami earlier rattled him. Lexie declared that she only had eyes for her husband. He apologized for not being more sympathetic to her concerns about their son. They made up and Abe left. A peeved Lexie headed out, too.
Melanie asked Nathan if he moved up the wedding day because Stephanie was pregnant. Nathan insisted that wasn't the case. He brought up the quarantine and how he told Mel he loved her. "Were you lying?" she asked. "Hell, no," he replied. She asked why he was marrying Stephanie then. Nathan told her about the conversation he had with the dying patient who wasn't married to her soul mate. He insisted he was happy with Stephanie and could be in the future. "Us is not possible because you are a married woman," he pointed out. Melanie revealed that she and Philip were planning to have a baby. Awkward.
At the hospital, Daniel was stunned to overhear Caroline and Stephanie discussing Philip's one-night stand. "Cheating on my daughter then telling her you want to have a baby? I will kill you," Daniel vowed. Stephanie and Caroline spied him and made uneasy chatter. He congratulated Steph on her upcoming nups, then took off. Nathan and Melanie arrived and wedding talk ensued. Melanie excused herself. Ben overheard them talking and said he felt it was too soon since Nathan had been so sick. Nathan insisted he was fine. Melanie smirked. Ben cautioned him to be safe and congratulated Nathan and Steph on the engagement. He later apologized to Nathan. Melanie overheard Nate say that Steph was the best thing that ever happened to him. After, Stephanie made her wedding plans in front of Melanie, who made a pointed remark about Nathan's feelings.
Philip brought Chloe takeout from the Brady Pub, but she told him that Daniel had already brought them dinner. Brady arrived next, bearing a stuffed animal for the baby. Chloe asked where Nicole was; Brady revealed they had split. Philip went to work and Brady left. Chloe called Daniel, who was on the pier and said she was running late. She could tell he sounded strange. Philip approached him, so he hung up the phone and confronted Philip about cheating. Philip dodged the question, but Daniel pointed out that he saw Philip with Sabrina, the Titan employee the night before. Philip insisted he loved Melanie. Daniel grabbed him by the collar. Chloe came upon their argument and was immediately alarmed that Daniel knew the truth.
EJ opened the door of the DiMera manse and promptly received a slap in the face from Nicole. She was angry that she had to break up with Brady, then demanded to see Sydney. He stopped her, then asked her to move in with him. She was speechless. He explained she could have the guest cottage on the grounds. She headed back to the Kiriakis manse after and reconnected with Brady. They faked a fight when Henderson entered. After he excused himself, they started making out and went upstairs to have sex.
Rafe visited EJ to talk about Johnny. EJ wasn't receptive and refused to look at the photos. Rafe returned to the loft later. Lexie showed up looking for Sami. Rafe was happy with the timing.
Wednesday
EJ studied the wedding photos. The doorbell rang — it was Nicole with her bags. A distracted EJ told her to go to the guesthouse. She asked what was wrong. He said his mind was on Johnny. Nicole tried to tell him about her breakup with Brady; EJ sensed she was keeping something from him. She "admitted" she hadn't completely cut ties with Brady because of Vivian. EJ didn't understand. Nicole explained that she had played a "prank" on Vivian and needed to talk to Brady about it from time to time.
A furious Lexie stormed into the loft, looking for Sami, who was not there. He interrupted her tirade to say he thought something was wrong with Johnny. He showed her the wedding photos. She agreed something was up and they went to EJ's. EJ was not happy to see Rafe again, but Lexie said she wanted to talk about Johnny Johnny. Nicole took Sydney for a walk while EJ and Lexie spoke. Lexie asked if she could examine her nephew. EJ got him, then Lexie checked out Johnny's eye and grew concerned.
Maggie babysat baby Parker. Victor showed up and they were surprised to see each other. He explained that he wanted to visit Parker, and happily picked up the infant. After, he spied Daniel's baptism gown and noted it felt like yesterday that Daniel was in his arms as a baby himself. Maggie was moved. Victor took the opening as an opportunity to discuss what happened with Vivian. Maggie told him she understood why he did it, but couldn't condone it. He mentioned that Kate was moving into the mansion with him. Maggie was rattled and suggested Victor leave. He was pleased that she cared.
Adrienne went to the hospital to find Stephanie, but ran into Nathan. He told her that Steph finally 'fessed up to him. "That's a relief; I'm glad she finally told you," Adrienne said. He explained that they moved up the wedding, which made Adrienne realize that they were talking about different things.
Stephanie challenged Melanie to explain her catty comment about how Nathan really felt about her. Melanie began by saying Nathan confessed something to her in the quarantine. She tortured Steph a bit, then backtracked, saying Nathan loved Stephanie. A suspicious Steph wondered why Melanie was being gloomy and dramatic about everything. Mel insisted she wasn't. Nathan and Adrienne walked in and broke the tension between the women. Melanie left; Nathan asked what was going on. Steph dismissed it as Melanie being "weird." He went back to work. Adrienne asked Steph about the new wedding date and urged Stephanie to come clean about Parker's paternity. Steph said she couldn't or Caroline would be hurt. "She's the one who switched the paternity results," Stephanie revealed. Adrienne was stunned. Steph urged her to keep quiet or else Steph would never forgive her.
Chloe came upon Daniel pummeling Philip on the pier. She begged her husband to stop. Two men passing by pulled them apart. Philip hushed Chloe, saying Daniel didn't know what he was talking about. Philip took off and then met let Daniel go. Chloe demanded to know why Daniel accused Philip of cheating on Melanie. Daniel insisted it was true and vowed to make Philip pay. Chloe asked how he knew; Daniel said he overheard Steph and Caroline talking. Chloe frantically urged him to keep the truth from Melanie and stay out of it. Daniel noted that his loyalty was to Melanie — and Chloe's should be, too. They talked it out and Chloe pointed out that he didn't know the whole story. They parted ways.
Philip went to the hospital to find Melanie, but ran into Nathan, who asked about his bloody face. Philip wouldn't talk about it. Nathan told him Melanie left and wondered why Philip was so hot to find her. Philip assured him there was no reason to worry. They bickered, then Philip suggested Nathan focus more about Stephanie, the woman he was marrying. After, Philip headed to Daniel and Chloe's apartment, but found Maggie there. Maggie was alarmed by his bloody face. Philip asked Maggie to keep quiet about it to Melanie. Philip walked out of the apartment and right into Chloe.... Melanie returned to Maggie's house and was surprised to find it empty. Daniel came by to talk to her. She asked what happened to his face.
Thursday
Sami called Rafe to check in. He didn't tell her he was outside of the DiMera mansion but said he might have something to report about EJ soon. Allie came in and Sami cleaned out her backpack. Sami found a letter from the school, asking the parents to bake cookies. Sami was thrilled that it would give her an opportunity to see Johnny. Sami found Johnny's snack in the backpack. Allie mentioned Johnny didn't come to school that day.
Lexie told EJ that Johnny should be seen by an eye specialist ASAP. He was alarmed by the urgency. She called a colleague and they headed out to the hospital. The found Rafe waiting outside. Johnny cried for Sami; Rafe said he would get her.
Philip ran into Chloe in the hallway of her apartment building. She revealed that Daniel knew that Philip cheated. She promised Phil he wouldn't go through this alone. Maggie came outside to take Parker for a walk and was surprised to find them. Chloe and Philip went into the apartment, where Phil urged her to keep mum. Chloe clued him in that Stephanie knew something, too. Before they could talk about it further, Maggie returned with the baby, who was fussy.
Daniel stormed into Maggie's house, looking for Philip. Melanie spied the blood on his face and realized her husband and father had fought. She asked why. "You," he replied. Melanie started rhapsodizing about Philip and their relationship. She insisted Philip would never hurt her. Daniel called Philip to meet at the pier. Chloe was panicked that they both knew. Philip headed out. Chloe asked Maggie to watch Parker and left, too. Maggie worried something was wrong. Chloe visited Melanie and asked if she knew where Daniel was. Melanie revealed Philip and Daniel had a physical fight. She said she was so sick to her stomach that she couldn't drink her coffee. Chloe wondered if Melanie could be pregnant. She didn't know, but said she would be happy if she was. Chloe realized her secret was safe.
Philip approached Daniel on the pier. Philip confessed that yes, he cheated, and he never meant to hurt anyone or lie. He apologized profusely.
In prison, Hope clutched a photo of Ciara. The warden came in and Hope assumed she was being transferred. The warden taunted her, then left. After, Hope prayed for a Christmas miracle and that Bo would understand her message.
At the station, Bo showed Jennifer a letter from Hope saying she attacked another prisoner. He added that the warden claims Hope is being violent again, without the pills. He then showed her how Hope spelled Ciara's name "Ciarra" in the letter, so she was clearly trying to get through to him. Jen was determined to get to the bottom of it. So was Bo.
Gabi and Will studied in the park. She could tell he was worried about Johnny. They headed home and discussed Johnny. Sami came in on their talk and asked what was going on. They were evasive, which tipped off Sami. She demanded to know what was up. They told her about the white spot in Johnny's eye and how Rafe asked them not to tell her. Now worried, Sami asked, "Is Johnny sick?" Will assured her Rafe was on top of it. Allie called her into the bedroom; Sami told them to stay put. Rafe came home. Will confessed that he told Sami. Rafe said he was planning to, anyway. Sami returned and asked Rafe what was happening. Rafe told her Johnny was in the hospital and they needed to go.... At the hospital, Dr. Kim examined Johnny but said they would need to do further tests. He admitted it could be serious. Sami came rushing in and asked EJ where Johnny was. EJ told her he was having tests done. He then concluded that Sami had been at the house and somehow did this to Johnny so she could be close to her son.
Friday
Julie brought Ciara to the station and they overheard Bo saying he would be away for a while. A cop took Ciara in the other room while Bo told Julie that he had an investigation that required him to leave town. She said she and Doug would be delighted to watch Ciara. Julie could tell something else was up, but Bo was evasive. After, Bo gave Ciara an early Christmas present: Hope's necklace. She was thrilled and asked Bo to put it on her. After, Bo told her that he had to go away. She was upset, but he explained that it was really important and Julie and Doug would take care of her. "If you get lonely, you just hold on to your necklace and know how much Mommy and Daddy love you," he said. She took off her barrette and gave it to him to hold when he missed her. A moved Bo hugged her.
Melanie and Chloe returned to the apartment so Chloe could take care of Parker. Carly came by to see the baby. Chloe ran out to run an errand and asked Mel and Carly to watch her son. Carly thought Chloe was acting squirrely. Mel and Carly had a heart to heart about their relationships. Carly admitted that she was having a rough patch with Bo. Melanie told Carly that she wanted to have a baby and said that Carly would be able to spend time with her grandchild in a way she wasn't able to with Melanie. Carly was touched. After, Carly went to the station to talk to Bo. She could tell something was wrong.
On the pier, Philip began a heartfelt apology to Daniel. "I'm disgusted with myself," he declared and insisted it would never happen again. Philip urged Daniel not to tell Melanie. Daniel was very torn. Philip assured him that he had Sabrina transferred to Europe. Daniel revealed that Stephanie knew the truth. Philip said he would talk to her and take care of it. The men parted ways. Philip left a message for Stephanie; Chloe found him on the pier. Philip reported that Daniel agreed to keep the truth from Melanie to protect her. Chloe was relieved.
Stephanie and Nathan discussed honeymoon plans. He revealed that Johns Hopkins had called him again about taking the research fellowship. She was thrilled by the prospect of moving to Baltimore. He got a call and walked out of the Pub. Caroline, who overheard their chat, sat down with Stephanie and said she thought it was a good idea for Nate and Steph to move because Melanie couldn't be trusted. Nathan returned and reported that Adrienne wasn't feeling well, so he was going to make a house call. He took off. Daniel came in and beelined for Stephanie. He admitted he overheard Stephanie's discussion with Caroline. She tried to deny it, but he said he spoke with Philip, who told him "everything." Daniel warned her not to talk about it to anyone, including Caroline. He declared that he didn't want to see Melanie hurt. Stephanie said she didn't, either, and vowed to keep mum. Caroline overheard and noted to herself that she did the right thing and everyone would now get their happily ever after.
Nathan went to Adrienne's, but heard Parker crying while he was in the hallway. He knocked on the door. Melanie answered; she explained that she was watching the baby. He said she would make an amazing mother.
Sami was stunned -- and appalled -- when EJ accused her of manipulating the health scare with Johnny so she could see her son. A fight ensued. Rafe came upon them arguing and broke it up. Dr. Kim found them and explained that Johnny needed more tests. Sami, Rafe and EJ visited with Johnny. The boy was thrilled to see his mother and said he wanted to go home with her. EJ tried to kick Sami out of the room, but Johnny didn't want her to leave. Rafe said he would stay with the boy while EJ and Sami talked outside. Once alone, EJ conceded that Johnny needs his mother and that it was wrong of him to accuse her of harming him. Sami said they had to do what was best for Johnny right now and not fight. Sami returned to Johnny. He asked where EJ was; Sami assured the boy he'd be along. Sami talked about their secret "I love you" signal, which she and Johnny did. EJ walked in and spied it. "Secret hand signals? I knew I couldn't trust you!" EJ spat. Another fight ensued, but Dr. Kim interrupted with the test results and reported that the news wasn't good...
