DAYS Week of August 20, 2007 Recaps

Monday

In Las Vegas, a member of the hotel staff knocked on the door of the Touch the Sky suite and when Nick opened it, there stood China Lee's two sons, Artemis and Dee. When asked if he was married to the mother, Nick replied, "technically, kind of." The man said, "Technically, kind of they're your children, sir," and left the two excited boys screaming, "Daddy, Daddy!" Later, some flight attendants played with the boys while Nick chatted with the cops. The cops told him that China's real name was Cassandra L. Arvin, and that she was in jail for 30 days for soliciting. "Is this a joke? Am I getting Punk'd?" Nick bemoaned. The cop recommended he call Social Services and wished him luck before he left. Nick then turned to the boys and told them they would be leaving Vegas to go to a magical kingdom called Salem.

Meanwhile, Stephanie and Chelsea sat at the casino and discussed Stephanie's relationship with Max. Chelsea reiterated that Jeremy is a cheating scumbucket and that Max is the better option (even if he is Steph's adopted uncle). Chelsea then had to contend with her own romantic crisis: Jett. They exchanged "I like you"s but a regretful Jett told her, "Go be with your man." A few tables over, Max flirted with the mysterious Jenna over drinks and she ended up asking him to meet her over by the elevators if he was game to go upstairs. Before he could meet her, Jeremy stopped him to discuss the girl smuggling ring. While Max and Jer talked about Ilsa needing a week to arrange things, Jenna made a phone call to a mystery person, asking, "How would you like for me to seal the deal with Max?" Uh-oh. Then Stephanie saw Max and Jenna by the elevators. Double uh-oh. Upset, Steph lashed out at Jeremy. Not exactly Prince Charming, Jeremy told Stephanie that he was being honest and faithful, admitting to her that she was right about not putting her first. He apologized, adding that he was trying to clean up his mess because he didn't want to lose her.

At University Hospital, Hope left to check on paperwork and Bo chatted with Roman about his love life. "What's more pathetic than a middle-aged guy on his own?" Roman sighed. After enough pressure about leaving the hospital, Kayla finally agreed under the condition that Roman stay at his desk for two weeks. Roman took the deal and then he and Bo teased Kayla about not leaving Pocket at home with Steve. Kayla got offended, called them losers and stormed out. Outside, she tried to reassure herself, but an image of Steve passed out on the couch while Pocket made a mess of his food in his high chair flashed through her mind. Steve went to see Adrienne for advice on being a good dad. She jokingly recommended a few books, then reassured him and gave him a hug. Kayla returned home with Pocket, where Steve had put together his baby swing. She apologized for not leaving the tyke with the former amnesiac DiMera pawn. He said that he understood that she was just "being a mother and following her instincts." He told her that he had run bathwater and that he'd take care of Pocket while she relaxed. She suggested that he feed the baby and she'd put him down so they could enjoy the bath together (just like the old days). Meanwhile, Roman admitted to Bo that he was rarin' to go after Andre. He knew what the stakes were. "Yeah, your life," Bo warned before his obstinate brother refused a wheelchair. Bo offered to take him back to his place and then told Hope that he was very thankful for her and that he didn't know where he'd be without her. Incredulous, she asked, "Where is this coming from?" He said he was just glad they were spending their lives together. They laughed and shared a kiss.

Tuesday

Jenna and Max heated things up waiting for the elevator, and when they got
in, she ripped off his clothes and pinned him against the wall. She even
pulled out handcuffs! The cuffs put a definite kink in the mood...but not the
kind Max expected. When Jenna told him that she'd be leaving him behind, he
wanted to know what the heck was going on. He begged her not to let the
doors open to his inevitable embarrassment. "Mr. Lowell says you're even now," she said with a smirk. It took Max a second to remember that Lowell was the sleazebag who groped Stephanie on the plane. The elevator doors opened and Jenna walked out, leaving three older ladies to stare and giggle at a stark-naked Max.

Downstairs in the casino, Jeremy tried to convince Stephanie that it was for
her own good that she didn't know too much about his shady deals. After more
of her complaining, he finally admitted that he'd been smuggling women. "My
father was right, you're a crook, Jeremy," Stephanie gasped. Between all
their arguing, Jeremy slipped and indirectly said that he loved her.
Stephanie was flattered for a moment, but claimed that he only said it to
get out of a jam and that he'd never be able to admit the love they truly
shared. "If you can't be real with me, I'll find someone who will," she
warned.

In the Touch the Sky suite, Nick and Chelsea discussed dealing with
unforeseen consequences. Moments later, China's kids came running in. A
shocked and annoyed Chelsea wanted to know why the kids were there. Nick
said China Lee's jail situation was the reason. Chelsea tried to get him to
believe that the kids weren't his responsibility, even suggesting foster
care, but he said he couldn't do that to the kids. Chelsea then whined about his pattern of putting other people's happiness ahead of theirs. She walked out on him and went straight to Jett and asked him to take her dancing. Jett wondered why she asked. "Because you put me first," she answered. Nick overheard as he walked into the room and the men exchanged tense glares. Jett invited Nick to tag along, but he declined and went back to wait for the kids. Soon after, towel-clad Max came up to the suite and saw Nick and the boys off as they left for Salem. Then Stephanie and Jeremy entered and caught Max changing into pants. They saw the cuffs and assumed he'd had an evening to remember.

Meanwhile, Shawn and Belle chatted at the pub about finding their own place
to live. Shawn told her that he'd found a place. Surprise! Shawn explained
that they'd be staying upstairs with his grandparents. Not quite the home
sweet home Belle had imagined. Her face quickly turned sour before she
declared, "Shawn Brady, this is the worst idea you have ever had." He
apologized, saying the last thing he wanted was to upset her. She refused to
move Claire until they had a permanent place, and pointed to her ring saying
that it was a symbol of their team and making decisions together. Visibly
irritated, Shawn began to walk away. When Belle told him he couldn't bail
every time they had an argument, he claimed it was bigger than an argument
and accused her of wanting to live with her ex-husband Philip more than her
own fiancé. Ouch! He gave her an ultimatum: tell Philip that they were
moving out, or he'd do it himself. When Philip randomly walked up suggesting
the three of them take Claire to the movies, Shawn hit him over the head
with his plans to move out of the house, claiming it was what he and Belle
both wanted. Philip wanted Belle to say it for herself. When she couldn't,
Belle asked to speak to Shawn alone and berated him for putting his macho
insecurities before Claire's happiness. "Don't choose Philip over me," he
said. "If I do, what?" Belle demanded. To which he responded, "Just don't."

Wednesday

Shawn and Belle continued their Philip-related row, with Belle insisting
they learn to make decisions together. Shawn was still convinced that Philip
was trying to break up their family by using his house and his money. And
after going back and forth while Philip sat quietly to the side, Shawn
challenged Phil to, for once, be honest about wanting him out of the picture
so that he could have Belle and Claire to himself. "If I wanted you gone I'd
just pick up the phone and call the cops," Philip replied. "Shut your face
or I'll shut it for you," Shawn retorted. Philip dared Shawn to take his
best shot, and it turned physical until Belle separated them. When Philip
was still unable to give a straight answer about his feelings for Belle,
Shawn declared once and for all that they would be leaving Philip's home.
"We're moving out, and you're moving on," he said. Belle stepped in, asking
to talk to Philip alone, and Philip then admitted to Belle that he would do
whatever it takes to stay in her life. The DNA tests had come in: He
was the dad of Lauren's baby. He opened up about his son being missing and that he felt like he was losing Claire, too. Belle promised that
he'd always be in Claire's life. "I'll never let Shawn take that away from
her, or you," she assured. But Philip warned her to see Shawn for the man he
really is before it's too late. Alone with Shawn, Belle told him that she
would move out of Philip's home as long as Philip could see Claire when he
wanted. Shawn hesitated initially, but finally agreed and thanked Belle for
her decision to move.

Meanwhile, the Bradys gathered at Bo's for another round of Santo and
Colleen's flashback theater. Before they begin reading, they briefly discussed Bo and Hope's trip to Ireland and figuring out a way to stop Andre. Despite the worry, they joked around and shared laughs while they tried to figure out why Colleen made the decisions she did about Santo and what they would have done in her shoes. "She's smart, saucy and speaks her mind," Hope observed of Colleen.

During the flashback, Colleen tried to persuade Shawn to lie for her so that
she could go meet Santo. Little Shawn begged for her not to go, but she
maintained that she had to so that her heart could be happy. As Colleen
walked out, Shawn got choked up and teary-eyed. When a priest and another nun asked him if he'd seen his sister, he took off out the church door. Colleen met with Santo and expressed her nervousness at being spotted with him. Santo made it clear that he was trying to be a gentleman, but Colleen accused him of being no such thing, citing his shameless flirting with her while his wife was still alive. Santo became offended, claiming that he was always faithful to his late wife, and that he would not "beg for love. If you want my heart, take it," he said. He told her that she must decide what she wanted and who she was. He opened the door for her to walk out if she pleased. She walked to the door, closed it and turned around to kiss him. Just as they took their heated embrace to a horizontal position,
someone knocked at the door....

Thursday

The Brady family continued with their letter reading, and Hope quickly pointed out that they had forgotten why they started to read the letters in the first place — to figure out how and why the Brady/DiMera feud began. Bo then
informed them that Stefano was in the hospital, and the family wondered how
serious his injuries really are and if they'll find an answer in time. Hope
also shared her frustration that they still hadn't figured out how Colleen
died. They were unfortunately at the last letter that they had in their
possession.

In the land of the Ireland flashbacks, Colleen freaked out and hid, so Santo
could finally open the door. He tried to keep Sister Mary Ann in the doorway to keep her from possibly finding Colleen, but the out-of-breath sister let herself in. They chatted over donations to the parish, and Santo offered to help. Before the sister left, she asked if Santo had seen Colleen. Santo offered excuses but the sister wasn't buying it. Still, she left quietly, noticeably pleased to have received a large donation. Colleen continued to beat herself up for her "shameful" acts. She and Santo embraced and returned to kissing, but before they could get too heated up, Colleen discovered that she'd left her scarf on the bed. Sister Mary Ann had probably seen it. "Why am I here? Why did I come? Why did I lie?" Colleen cried. Santo tried to reassure her that she had done nothing wrong. Colleen began to wail and said that she could never see him again. Santo tried to stop her, but she ran out the door. When she returned to the church, sure
enough, Sister Mary Ann told her and the Father that she'd seen Colleen's scarf on Mr. DiMera's bed.

Sami, EJ and Lucas sat at his bedside trying to figure out if Kate had been
secretly seeing Stefano. EJ's phone rang and when he picked up, Tony was on
the line. Tony told him that Stefano was in the hospital and that he would
need an operation on his liver to survive. "I think we may be nearing the
end," Tony said. EJ quickly headed over to meet Tony. "Your speed is quite
impressive," Tony sneered. "One would think you stood to inherit something."
The two began to argue when the doctor came out to inform them that they
should say goodbye to their father. EJ entered first, pulled up a chair next
to Stefano and grabbed his hand. Stefano tried to discuss the business of his money and accounts but EJ stopped him. "Not now," he said. "There is only now," Stefano responded breathlessly. After much reminiscing, EJ begged him to tell Andre that the feud was over. "It is too late, I cannot stop him," Stefano replied. Down the hall, Kate came to visit Lucas with expensive gifts. Lucas demanded to know where she'd gotten the money. Kate responded by telling him that he was rude to ask. "You've called me worse than rude so I'll ask," Sami quipped. Sami brought up that she could have gotten the money from Stefano. When Lucas asked if it was true, his mother didn't give him a straight answer. "You're spending his money, aren't you?" Lucas snapped. Sami wondered if Stefano gave Kate the money so that she would be in his debt. Then, Stefano called Kate. Lucas snatched the phone and put it on
speaker so they could all hear. Not knowing Sami and Lucas were listening,
he asked Kate to meet Andre, get the mysterious folio and bring it to his
hands. "It is a dying wish," he said.

Friday

At Bo and Hope's, Chelsea and Nick continued to fight because Chelsea was
upset that he wouldn't put China Lee's kids in a foster home. She felt like she was just an "afterthought," and she belittled him for letting China Lee take
advantage of him. "She knew she could," Chelsea said. "She probably saw you
coming from a mile away." Nick accused her of only needing him when she
wanted something, and Chelsea then questioned why he was even still around.
"Because I love you," he said. Nick told her that she was all he had, but he
questioned whether or not he truly still had her. Chelsea admitted that she
loved him, and that she used him because she knew that he'd do whatever she
wanted him to. She said he'd become a different person because of her, and
that's why she had to let him go. "I practically destroyed your life," she
cried. "My life started the day I met you," Nick disagreed. As Chelsea began
to walk away, Jett appeared so they could leave together. Before Jett could
walk away, Nick told him he'd shoot him with a gun if he had one. Jett
warned Nick to stop making threats, and Nick accused him of trying to steal
Chelsea. Jett maintained that their relationship problems had nothing to do
with him. Nick then watched sadly as Jett and Chelsea left. Hope told him
that if he loved Chelsea, he should fight for her.

At the hospital, Stefano was still on the phone pleading with Kate to meet
Andre for the leather folio, and Sami and Lucas tried to persuade her to
agree, even offering to go themselves so she wouldn't have to. Kate was
afraid for the safety of her children and grandchildren, but she finally
agreed. Stefano informed Kate that the drop would take place at the health
club. Stefano told her that if there was the slightest chance that the folio
could end up in the wrong hands, she should destroy it immediately.
Lucas and Sami were thankful that Kate agreed. Later Kate and Lucas continued
to argue over why Stefano gave her money. Lucas accused his mother
of reverting back to her old ways. "You're right back where you started:
Stefano's whore." Kate asked Lucas not to judge her. The man he called a
monster pulled them out of the gutter, and she had to do what she needed to
do to survive.

Meanwhile EJ spoke with Lexie and Benjy about the possibility of saving
Stefano by using a portion of one of their livers. As EJ explained the
procedure Lexie became enraged at the idea. "I wouldn't donate a toenail
clipping to save that monster's life," she said. As they waited for testing,
Lexie told Benjy to go home. EJ was angry because Benjy could have been a
possible match. Benjy said that he had his own wife and child to be
concerned with and left the hospital. Lexie eventually told Stefano that she
didn't want to help, and Stefano asked if she wanted him to die. "I wish I
didn't," she responded. She still had more to get off of her chest, but
Stefano ordered her "out of my sight." Later, Sami met EJ in the hospital's
waiting room. EJ expressed that he loved his father, but since Stefano had
hurt so many people it might be better if he were dead. Sami begged EJ to do
whatever it took to save Stefano. She wanted Stefano to "burn in hell" but
he needed to be alive when they found the folio so that he could declare an
end to the feud. EJ returned to Stefano's room and said that he would donate part of his liver if he was a match. Overwhelmed Stefano vowed that he will never forget the favor. Once alone, Stefano grinned devilishly and then
laughed evilly. "It's not over yet," he crowed. "I'm not finished yet. The
Phoenix rises again!"
