DAYS Week of August 16, 2010
Monday
Stephanie tried to hack into the computer at St. Mary's. Melanie caught her and asked what she was looking at. Steph lied that she was checking on a patient whose case Daniel was involved in. Melanie left. Alone, Steph tried to access information on Chloe's baby to no avail. She made a call. Later, Steph met her old college pal Ian at her apartment. She told him she needed to access hospital records for a paternity test. Steph confessed she wasn't the mother and asked if Ian would help her.
Nathan approached Philip and Chloe on the pier and asked if everything was alright. Chloe said she and Philip were upset about Hope. They talked a bit about the free clinic; then, Nathan left. Philip and Melanie arrived at the clinic. Philip didn't like the neighborhood and was worried about Melanie's safety. Melanie assured she'd be fine, since there would be a doctor on hand. In walked Nathan. Philip wasn't happy to see that doctor. After Philip left, a creepy guy came in and told Melanie he needed something. Then, he grabbed her.
Daniel met Carly at the Cheatin' Heart. He showed her the bracelet he bought Chloe for her birthday. Daniel went on about how happy he was about becoming a father. Carly tensed up and split. Chloe arrived. Daniel gave her one of her gifts: a silver cup and spoon for their baby. When Chloe headed to the rest room, Sister Anne walked in looking for someone. Daniel suggested she stay and meet his fiancee. Chloe spotted the duo and freaked. Carly returned, saw what was going on, and intervened. Sister Anne ultimately left, as did Daniel. Later, on the pier, Chloe thanked Carly for her help. Carly told Chloe they'd get her test results tomorrow. She'd pick her up in the morning. Daniel overheard and asked what was going on.
Stefano caught Sami and EJ kissing. He thanked them for including Kate in their wedding plans. Will walked in, cracking that he couldn't believe this train wreck was going to happen. Sami went after him and tried to get Will to understand. He didn't. Sami told EJ her confrontation with Will would be nothing compared to telling her dad and grandmother their news. EJ offered to go with her. Stefano told Will he knew he wasn't happy about EJ and Sami's engagement. Stefano admitted having trouble accepting the news, too, but changed his mind partly because of Will. Stefano believed in the power of family and wanted to be part of Will's future.
Things heated up between Nicole and Brady. They started undressing, when Brady stopped things, noting that he and Nicole only used each other to get through the night. "You're making it sound like I'm some sort of ..." began Nicole. "Drug," finished Brady, contending that that's what sex was with the two of them. Brady poured himself a drink. Nicole was stunned. Brady said drinking wasn't his problem, she was, and he was determined to kick it. He stormed out and headed to the pub. Philip was stunned to see Brady drinking. Brady insisted booze wasn't his problem.
Rafe decided Nicole was going to help him nail EJ. He made a call, telling someone he needed help with Nicole. Victor arrived. Rafe explained he was sure EJ hired Anna to kidnap Sydney and that Nicole found out about it. "I need Nicole to roll on EJ," announced Rafe. Victor wasn't interested. Rafe noted that if he could put Nicole away, she couldn't dig her claws into Brady. Victor told Rafe about Nicole's porn past and her father getting her into it. He suggested Rafe convince her he was a white knight who could help her. Nicole walked into the Cheatin' Heart, down and out over losing Brady. Rafe spied her inside and decided to strike while Nicole was vulnerable.
Roman was at the pub with Caroline when Sami called to say she was coming over to tell him something. Sami and EJ arrived. Sami announced she'd accepted EJ's proposal. Roman thought Sami had lost her mind. EJ insisted he and Sami loved each other. Sami said she didn't come there asking for Roman's permission or blessing. She and EJ left. Later, EJ caught up with Stefano at the mansion, noting the Bradys weren't happy about the engagement. Stefano warned his son about getting smug, warning everything could fall apart if Rafe or Sami found out EJ arranged Sydney's kidnnapping. Sami appeared in the doorway.
Tuesday
Hope sat in the courtroom and told her attorney she was pleading guilty and going to prison. Bo walked in, swearing he wasn't going to let that happen. Hope insisted she needed to pay for what she'd done. "What about Ciara? Does she need to pay even more than she already has for what we've done?" countered Bo. Hope insisted Ciara was better off without her. Doug and Julie arrived, as Bo called Hope "a coward" and told her going to prison was not what was best for Ciara. Doug suggested that Bo take a walk. Julie talked to Hope, begging her not to give up. Doug and Bo returned, but nothing changed. "There's nothing left for us to talk about," said Hope. Bo went off to talk to Hope's attorney. When they returned, Bo announced there was a change of plans.
Nathan tackled the man attacking Melanie at the clinic. The guy fled, after knocking Nathan down. Nathan grabbed his arm in pain, but insisted he was fine. He checked out Melanie, who thanked him for saving her. The pair discussed what happened, and Nathan offered to see Melanie home.
Ian hacked into the St. Mary's computer to get the results of "Dana Scott's" paternity test. He found the name, but came up empty on the results. Nathan returned and asked what was going on. Steph introduced Ian, noting he was helping her with some computer programs for work. Nathan told them about the guy at the clinic, then went to shower. Ian told Steph they could try again tomorrow and left. Nathan emerged. Steph suggested that he get his arm X-rayed. Nathan noted Melanie said the same thing, recounting what went down at the clinic. Nathan swore he was fine and left. Steph prayed everything would be okay in the morning.
"What are you two up to now?" asked Daniel upon finding Carly and Chloe discussing their trip to St. Mary's for the paternity test results. Chloe lied that Carly was giving her a "girl time" birthday present. Carly concurred, noting they were getting to know each other better, knowing it would be easier for Daniel. Daniel was happy. He got a call from Melanie, saying she was on her way. Daniel shooed Chloe off, so that he and Melanie could discuss her birthday. Melanie arrived. Daniel saw her bruises and asked what happened. She explained about Nathan rescuing her from an attack at the clinic. Daniel and Melanie left, and Carly called St. Mary's. Then she called Chloe to tell her the paternity results would be in tomorrow morning. Chloe prayed that things would work out. Daniel and Melanie returned to Maggie's. Daniel worked on Chloe's birthday plans.
Rafe found Nicole at the Cheatin' Heart and decided to strike while she was vulnerable. He sat down. Nicole threw a drink in his face and ordered him to leave. Rafe obliged. A guy walked up to Nicole, recognizing her from the porn flick Locker Room Lolita, and suggesting they go find their own locker room. Rafe stepped in, tossed the guy out of the bar and sat back down with Nicole. He apologized for being rough on her earlier, admitting that learning Sami was marrying EJ upset him. Rafe went on about how Nicole and Sami loved EJ. He wondered if grief had changed EJ. After all, he had to call Sami and tell her Sydney was dead. "Can you imagine going through that?" asked Rafe. Nicole grew suspicious and asked if Rafe was wearing a wire. Rafe suggested she frisk him. Nicole did and ended up falling right into Rafe's lap.
Sami walked in on Stefano and EJ discussing Sydney's kidnapping. EJ covered, saying they were talking about keeping Sami away from Sydney, so she could relax after their wedding. Lexie arrived and couldn't believe her ears. She congratulated EJ on turning his life around, but wondered about Rafe. EJ assured her that Rafe was out of the picture. Lexie hoped EJ was right. In the foyer, Stefano told Sami he was wrong about all the terrible things he'd said about her. He asked for a fresh start, and Sami agreed. Sami returned, and told EJ and Lexie that she and Stefano made peace. Lexie went to talk to Stefano. She thought there was more to this story, but Stefano suggested that she let go of the past. Sami told EJ that informing their families of their engagement went better than she expected. EJ noted they'd been avoiding talking about something regarding their marriage. He leaned in to kiss Sami, noting Stefano was out and the kids were asleep. "Why don't I show you what it's really like to be Mrs. DiMera?" he asked.
Wednesday
Since Hope was pleading guilty, Bo noted they were going with Plan B. Julie went off on Bo about everything he'd done. Justin and Abe arrived. Judge Fitzpatrick took the bench. Hope stood up and said she was guilty. Her attorney said he'd added a few names to the witness list. The prosecution asked for a continuance. When Hope said no, they pulled their deal for a lighter sentence. Justin announced he had something to say. He and Abe both testified as character witnesses for Hope. Then, Arianna took the stand and condemned Hope for what she'd done. Bo got up last, insisting he was as much to blame for all this as Hope was. He went on about Ciara's kidnapping, their shattered marriage, how Hope's world fell apart, and the sleeping pills that caused her to act out. Hope cried, as Bo vowed to be there for her throughout this. The judge decided on a two year sentence for Hope. Abe and Justin said their goodbyes to Hope. Doug and Julie promised they'd be waiting for her. After everyone left, Bo remained with Hope. "I guess this is goodbye," she whispered. "No, it's not," said Bo. "It's, See you soon, Fancy Face."
Later, Adrienne and Justin were at the pub talking. Justin couldn't believe no one saw what was happening to Hope. It made him think about where things went wrong between the two of them.
EJ and Sami were kissing passionately in the DiMera living room until Johnny interrupted. Sami returned alone, after putting Johnny to bed. She picked up the stuffed penguin and remembered Rafe finding it. EJ returned eager to continue things. He and Sami resumed kissing. Sami backed off. The pair realized Johnny broke the mood. Sami asked what EJ would think of having a traditional wedding night and waiting. EJ gallantly agreed.
Brady visited Isabella's crypt and wondered if his life would have been different, if he'd know his mother. Later, he was at the pub. Sami came in looking for Caroline. She couldn't believe he was drinking. He couldn't believe she was wearing an engagement ring. Brady said he was celebrating getting that last monkey off his back: Nicole. He told Sami she lied. Sami smirked. Brady spat that Sami was just as bad, but her addiction wasn't lies, it was EJ. He cautioned Sami to think about marrying him; then, put money down on the table and told her to have a beer on him. She'd need it. Brady stormed off.
While frisking Rafe, Nicole fell into his lap. Soon, they were kissing. Arianna appeared and asked her brother if he'd lost his mind. She surmised Rafe was acting this way because of Sami. Rafe remembered back to listening to the incriminating CD and told Arianna to back off. Arianna insisted Rafe was trying to make Sami jealous. Nicole asked Rafe if that was true. Rafe apologized for his sister; then, he and Nicole discussed their failed relationships with Brady and Sami. Rafe swore he wasn't trying to stick it to Sami and suggested getting out of there. He offered to take Nicole home. Later, at Nicole's place, Rafe mentioned a nightcap. Nicole was hesitant. Rafe went on about wanting Sami and a family and how it fell apart, just like things between Brady and Nicole. Nicole invited Rafe in and poured them drinks. Rafe flirted with Nicole, saying he wanted to be with a woman who was "carefree and uncomplicated." Nicole found it hard to believe Rafe liked her and said he'd have to prove it. "Take off your clothes," she instructed. Rafe obliged.
Sami stood outside the pub and left a message for Rafe to call her. Arianna walked by, and Sami asked if she'd seen Rafe. Arianna said he was probably at Nicole's place. Sami assumed Rafe was arresting her and raced off.
Thursday
Roman found Sami wandering the pier. Sami admitted she was trying to decide something. If it was whether or not to marry EJ, Roman told her, "Don't!" Sami said she was on her way to see Rafe. Roman was encouraged. Sami fantasized about Rafe arresting Nicole and her interrupting. Rafe told Sami he loved her, and she told him she wasn't marrying EJ. Back to reality, Roman kissed Sami and wished her good luck.
"I can't do this," announced Rafe. Nicole thought he was using her. Rafe thought Nicole was using him. Rafe said he just wanted to be Nicole's friend. Nicole reminded Rafe how he'd been trying to put her behind bars. He swore he'd seen a different side of her now, but understood why she didn't trust him. After all, men had used her her whole life. They discussed Sami, EJ and Sydney and how they made them both do crazy things. Rafe suggested he go. Nicole stopped him. She wanted to give this a chance. They started kissing, just as Sami approached the door. Nicole saw Sami and turned up the heat, then put on the brakes and head to the bathroom. She returned and announced she'd sobered up and wanted to get some sleep, alone. As Rafe started to leave, Nicole had a change of heart, suggesting he stay and hold her. Rafe agreed, and they cuddled up.
Vivian told Gus she was tired of being the victim and was going to be the victimizer. She had a plan to get Maggie out of Victor's life. Meanwhile, Victor ran into Maggie at the hospital. She was researching therapists for Hope. Victor offered to pay for the counseling. Vivian arrived and went off about what Carly did to Hope, noting she'd found a way to ease Victor's pain. "Are you filing for divorce?" he asked. Nope. Maggie left, and Vivian started talking about Isabella. She decided Isabella was buried in a "nondescript manner" and deserved better. She suggested a sarcophagus.
EJ left a message for Nicole, reminding her to keep her end of their agreement. Arianna arrived. EJ had her sign papers to have her record cleared; then, announced he and Sami were getting married. Arianna was concerned. Sami hurt Rafe; she didn't want the same thing to happen to EJ. Sami stormed in. EJ sensed something was wrong. Arianna sensed it was time to go. EJ asked Sami what was bothering her and she responded by kissing him. She professed her love and said she wanted to marry him, tomorrow! More kissing ensued. Sami broke away. She had calls to make and plans to change. EJ thought Sami wanted a traditional wedding. Sami insisted they deserved to be happy. There was no reason to wait.
Kate asked Will about his project for DiMera Enterprises. Stefano noted he didn't want Chad working on it with Will. Will said he hadn't heard from Chad and was worried about him. Kate made an excuse and left. She found Chad at the beach and asked how things were with Charles. Chad said they hadn't talked and he hated him. "I wish to God he wasn't my father," he spat. Chad left. Kate remembered back to a chat with Madeline, where they discussed Chad actually being Stefano's son! "No one can ever know," pleaded Madeline, noting it would destroy Chad. Lexie arrived with Theo and Ciara. Kate brought up Sami and EJ's nuptials. She wondered if stress and an unpleasant surprise would be too much for Stefano. Lexie assured he'd be fine. Kate asked how it felt when Lexie found out Stefano was her father. Did she ever wish it were otherwise? Given Stefano's "questionable morals," Lexie admitted there were days she wished he wasn't her dad.
Stefano got a call, just as Chad walked into the pub. Chad told Will he couldn't work on the project with him; his head wasn't in the right place. Will thought it was for the best. Chad got it; Stefano didn't want Chad working with Will. Will tried to make excuses. Chad said he cared about his dad not talking to him, but couldn't care less about Stefano. Chad walked off, as Stefano returned. Will asked if there was a reason Stefano didn't like Chad. Stefano explained Chad was raised by untrustworthy people and that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Will wanted to help Chad. Stefano admired Will's generous heart, but reminded him Chad wasn't their problem.
Friday
Stefano and Kate were surprised to see people in the manse, sprucing it up for a wedding. EJ told them that he and Sami were marrying that day. They didn't understand the rush. He explained that it's what Sami wanted.
While getting ready, Sami flashed back to seeing Rafe and Nicole kissing. "I'm doing the right thing," she insisted to herself. Will came in and she told him about the nups. He wasn't too happy that the family wasn't going to be there. She asked him to walk her down the aisle. He agreed. Lexie entered the living room, followed by Will with the twins. EJ thanked Will for being a part of it. He said it was no problem and congratulated EJ. Judge Fitzparick came in with Stefano. Sami came downstairs and the ceremony began.
A smiley Nicole woke up to find Rafe there, reading the paper. "I guess our night of snuggling is over?" she asked. He just looked at her with a pointed expression on his face, then held up the telltale CD. "You're busted, Nicole... Game over," he told her. She flipped out and tearily asked for immunity and protection. He promised her to do what he could. Her phone rang: It was EJ. He wanted to make sure she wasn't spinning off the rails in the wake of her breakup with Brady. She insisted she was fine. When they hung up, she turned to Rafe and said, "Let's make a deal." He put on his recorder and she gave her confession. After, he played the CD and heard Stefano say that EJ paid Anna to kidnap Sydney. "That's it!" he exclaimed.
Stephanie had a nightmare of the truth coming out about Chloe's baby. She woke up and called her friend Ian to come over and work his computer magic. Nathan came out into the living room and told her he was going to stay home. She got nervous that he would see Ian, so she suggested he get an X-ray on his elbow. He left. Ian came over and admitted he was uncomfortable about hacking into St. Mary's. Steph insisted it would be fine. Nathan came home unexpectedly and Steph covered that Ian left his flash drive the night before. Nathan said he forgot something, too. It was his phone. After he found it in the couch, he took off. Ian was again nervous to hack, but Steph persuaded him to do it. "Oh, my God," Steph declared when she saw the results.
Daniel woke Chloe with a rose and a kiss for her birthday. He promised to make it her best birthday ever. She was worried because she had to go to St. Mary's with Carly for the paternity test results. Carly showed up at the door, so the women had to think fast to cover in front of Daniel. Carly said they were supposed to get facials, then took off when Daniel got a phone call. When Dan came back in the room, he presented Chloe with the diamond bracelet. She was thrilled. He told her it was the first of many birthday surprises he had for her.
Melanie told Philip about Daniel's planned gathering for Chloe. Philip didn't think it was a good idea; Melanie said it was fine. She added that she didn't think Chloe seemed excited about the baby. Philip said Chloe was probably just worried. Melanie and Philip headed to Daniel and Chloe's bearing cake and a present. Chloe was surprised, indeed. She privately told Philip she was waiting for Carly to call with the test results. Chloe opened the gift, which was a maternity dress. She was touched. Mel said she wanted to be friends and for all of them to be a family. Awkward! Chloe started to cry. Philip jumped in and insisted they were tears of joy, but Melanie and Daniel seemed concerned by the display.
Carly arrived at the hospital and asked for Sister Ann to get the results...
