Faux Rafe violently dragged Fay up the stairs at the DiMera mansion, then pushed her down them. He stole a cameo from around her neck and straightened up the area. Nicole and Taylor arrived home to find their mother on the foyer floor. Taylor called 911 and started chest compressions. "Rafe" hid.
Daniel arrived at Jennifer's. Jen told Dan that she was sure something was wrong with Carly. He went to call Carly in the other room. When he returned, he found Jen up on a stepladder, fixing a crooked picture. Daniel caught her as she fell off of it. Cue the awkwardness. Daniel left for the hospital.
At Java Café, Carly recalled shooting up with a sedative. "It can't happen again," she vowed. She spied a lovey-dovey Justin and Adrienne and spilled her coffee. They asked her to join them, but she hurried off. At the hospital, Maxine asked Carly to give a patient some anti-anxiety meds. Carly contemplated taking them herself, then gave them to a nurse to administer to the patient. Back at Java, Adrienne remarked that Bo should never have gotten together with Carly and given her hope that there was a future for them. Justin and Adrienne discussed how happy they were. He suggested they elope to Las Vegas that night. Though stunned, she happily agreed.
Sami sat at the Brady Pub with Johnny, who wanted Rafe to give him more fighting lessons. Sami reminded him that they don't fight. EJ entered in time to overheard Johnny cry that "Rafe" said he'd make the boy a better fighter. Elvis was not pleased. He asked Sami what was going on in her home. She insisted everyting was fine, but shared that "Rafe" was hypoglycemic.... When EJ returned home, he found a pool of blood on the floor. Mary told him that Fay was rushed to the hospital. He arrived there and took Nicole into his arms to comfort her. Carly came out of Fay's room and reported that she was stable. Nicole headed in, leaving Taylor and EJ alone. He asked if he could comfort her. She shook her head and walked off.... Fay had troubling visions of "Rafe" harming her.... Carly asked Taylor and Nicole to explain what they thought happened to Fay. After they recounted how she was taking meds and they found her at the bottom of the stairs, Carly and Daniel explained that there wasn't any trace of medication in her system. While Nicole and Taylor were talking to the docs, Fay woke up and freaked out when she saw EJ sitting by her bed.
"Rafe" arrived home at the loft and was startled by Sami. He warned her not to sneak up on him again. Taylor called Sami to tell her about Fay. When Sami hung up, she told her hubby about Fay. "She's not dead?" he asked, which left Sami unsettled. He covered, then said how badly he felt for Nicole and Taylor. She didn't buy it.

A hospitalized Fay freaked out when she woke up to find EJ standing by her bed. He tried to calm her down, but she got so anxious that she flatlined.... Carly and Daniel couldn't determine how Fay could have fallen down the stairs, explaining to Nicole and Taylor that she had no meds in her bloodstream. Suddenly, they were called to Fay's room to try and revive her. The docs were successful, but Fay still couldn't breathe on her own. Nicole and Taylor sat with their mom. Nicole asked Taylor what she was going to tell her before she got the call from Fay. Taylor said it wasn't important. They hugged. Fay opened her eyes and saw her girls in an embrace. She tried to motion to them, but they didn't see her. Out in the reception area, EJ told Lexie he thought he was to blame for Fay's reaction. Lexie wondered if Fay knew there was something going on with Taylor and EJ.
Sami was concerned by "Rafe's" cavalier attitude about Fay being in the hospital. It led to a discussion of how his accident changed him and she wasn't sure what to do about it. "Rafe" was only worried about what would happen if Fay lived. Sami got a call and reported that Fay was doing better. She asked if he wanted to go to church to pray for Fay; he was snarky in response. "You don't love me at all, do you?" she asked him. He told her he was sorry for snapping and headed out. Caroline came by to watch the kids and noticed that her granddaughter wasn't too smiley. She asked what was wrong. "Everything's wrong," Sami replied and told her grandmother about all of the changes in Rafe, including him calling her "babe" all the time. Caroline urged her to think things through. Sami was determined to clear her head and took off. She thought she might visit Fay.
Melanie ran into Dario at Java Café and they verbally sparred. He met with a beautiful woman and gave her money. Melanie lurked around to see what that was all about. Dario revealed she was a private investigator who he hired to look into Arianna's murder. Mel was surprised. He insisted he was in Salem to track Ari's killer, then planned to leave town. She suddenly hurried off.
Carly worried when Melanie was late to lunch with her and Daniel. Daniel admitted he was worried about Carly. Melanie arrived and told her parents that Philip gave her some extra money for their split. She debated giving it back, but then thought she could put it to good use. She put up a $50,000 reward for anyone with info about the hit-and-run driver who killed Ari. She admitted that she got the idea after a talk with Dario. After Mel left, Daniel pressed Carly to tell him what was wrong with her. She explained that she was at a crossroads and had made a decision.... Melanie ran into Dario at The Cheatin' Heart. She told him about the reward she put up to catch the killer. He said he knew and declared that he wasn't impressed.
Chloe came home and found Philip talking to a woman from Social Services. She hid. After the woman left, an angry Chloe accused Philip of trying to take the baby away from her. He explained that he was trying to secure shared custody for them. She calmed down.
Nicole stormed into the mansion and asked Delia why Fay didn't have any sleeping pills in her system. Delia insisted she gave them to her. Nicole searched her mother's room and found the pills under Fay's pillow.... EJ admitted to Taylor that he feared Fay overheard a conversation that went on between them.... Rafe sneaked into Fay's hospital room, determined to be successful this time around. "You're one tough bird," he told her. He pulled out a syringe, preparing to put an air bubble into her room. Sami, meanwhile, arrived at the hospital and was about to enter Fay's room.

Brady was on the phone, discussing setting up a wing at the hospital in Isabella's name. Victor overheard and noted it was interesting to see what Brady was doing with the money he stole from Vic. Brady insisted it wasn't stolen. Victor pointed out that Isabella wouldn't be proud of how Brady has behaved. Brady was frustrated by Vic's mixed signals. Vic urged Brady to make Titan a family business again.
At the Cheatin' Heart, Dario told Melanie he wasn't impressed by her putting up the reward money. She poured a drink over his head. Maggie entered. Melanie introduced her to Rafe's "obnoxious" brother. Dario took off. Maggie and Melanie talked about Brady and Victor. Maggie urged Mel to try and mediate between the men. Maggie's phone rang. It was Victor, who summoned her to the manse. Maggie hurried off. Melanie called Brady and asked him to meet her at the Cheatin' Heart. When he arrived, she asked him about Titan. The conversation turned to their friendship. He said he was happy she was in his life.
Maggie arrived at the mansion. Victor told her his plane was fueled for Paris and invited her to join him for dinner. A flustered Mags explained that she couldn't just jet off without notice. She added that she was skilled in the art of French cuisine and offered to cook for him at the house. He was interested.
Dario entered the Brady Pub and spied Stephanie. He sat down with her and asked her about Melanie. Steph warned him that Mel was more trouble than she was worth. After, Dario swung by the Cheatin' Heart. When he looked in the window, he saw Melanie and Brady hugging, which bothered him.
Taylor was upset by the thought that Fay knew something was going on between her and EJ. At the mansion, Nicole tried to understand why Fay hid her pills. She then located Fay's cell phone on the foyer table and was more perplexed. She called Taylor to report in. Nicole could sense tension in her sister's voice and asked what was up. "I'm just upset, Nicole," she explained.
"Rafe" was about to put an air bubble into Fay's IV when Sami walked in. Fay's monitors went wild; Lexie came in and ordered the duo out. In the reception area, Sami asked her hubby why he was there and not at work. He claimed he had to get a statement from a witness and decided to check in on Fay. Sami didn't buy it, pointing out that "Rafe" had no connection to her. "Rafe" lied that he wanted to say something comforting to Fay. Taylor and EJ joined them; "Rafe" made callous remarks about Fay's recovery, which angered both EJ and Sami. Lexie reported that Fay was doing better. Sami offered to call Brandon for Taylor. Once alone, EJ asked "Rafe" why he was so interested in Fay's recovery. Sami returned and things got tense, so "Rafe" stormed off. Sami warned EJ not to say anything about her marriage. EJ appeared to be sympathetic, noting what a great mother she was and how he hoped their kids weren't affected by "Rafe's" erratic behavior of late.... "Rafe" debated his next move with Fay. Sami interrupted his thought process and brought him to their special spot in the woods, but he just seemed annoyed. "I can't live like this," Sami fumed. "I want my husband back!" They argued. Sami grabbed his arm; he warned her she would be sorry if she touched him like that again. "Are you threatening me?" she asked.
Nicole arrived at the hospital. Lexie said she and Taylor could visit with their mother. Taylor went in. Nic asked EJ what was up with her sister. EJ pointed out that she was all over the place emotionally. Nicole remarked that she was, too.... In Fay's room, Taylor apologized for hurting her and Nicole. "I love EJ and I don't know how to make it stop," she cried. "Please forgive me." Fay's eyes fluttered open.

Taylor was thrilled when Fay came to. Fay became agitated when she recalled "Rafe" trying to kill her. Taylor went to get a nurse, but Fay grabbed her arm and wouldn't let her go. Out in the reception area, Nicole asked EJ if he loved her. He admitted his feelings for her had changed after seeing her devotion to his children. He said he was grateful. "That's it?" Nicole asked, then apologized for putting him on the spot. She admitted she thought he had fallen in love with her, then said she felt lucky to have the relationship they did. They hugged; he looked uneasy. She told him she loved him — "so much" — and never felt it more than she did at that moment. She kissed him. Taylor walked out and saw them in an embrace. Nicole asked how Fay was. Taylor reported that their mother had woken up and said that she wanted to help Nicole. Nic went inside and assured a sleeping Fay that she was okay. She thanked her for being a good mother and revealed that she had fallen in love with EJ all over again. That got Fay riled up. She said, "EJ ... he... secret." Back in the reception area, EJ tried to explain about the kiss, but Taylor didn't want to hear it and stormed off. When she cooled down, Taylor revealed to him she was leaving town. He implored her to stay, noting that Fay and Nicole needed her. He said he did, too. She pointed out that he would be better off without her around.
In the woods, "Rafe" had a fantasy of telling Sami the truth. When he came out of it, Sami restated her question, "Are you threatening me?" He covered by saying that he was still having effects from the accident. She wanted to talk about their relationship, but he said he had to get to a stakeout. More arguing ensued.... "Rafe" went to the station and told Detective McCarthy that he was planning a stakeout at a motel. He really went to the hospital and stole some clothes to disguise himself, planning to do Fay in once and for all.
An agitated Sami returned home. Caroline updated her about the kids and asked how Rafe was doing. Sami reported that he was doing worse and recounted what happened when she found him in Fay's room and how "Rafe" threatened her after. "I thought he wanted to kill me," she admitted, then wondered if she was overreacting. Caroline counseled that the accident may have really changed him. She asked if things were over between Sami and Rafe. Sami was torn in light of her "sickness and health" vows but said she didn't think his recent behavior was due to his head trauma. "There's something else going on," she declared. "I'm sure of it."
Abigail and Chad met up at Java Café. They talked about his decision to move into the mansion. He admitted that he read up on the DiMeras and it made him sick to think of being part of the family, but they made him feel like he belonged so he changed his mind. She wished him luck with the move; he asked if she would help him get settled. He also wanted her to meet his father. She agreed.
On the pier, a black-tie clad Kate and Stefano discussed Chad moving in. Kate was excited about redoing one of the rooms and wondered how long he would stay. They arrived home just as Chad and Abigail arrived. Stefano walked in with the teens and found Mary scrubbing the blood out of the carpet where Fay had fallen. Kate gave them a tour. Chad thanked Kate for reuniting him with his family. Stefano overheard and was pleased. He wanted a group hug; Chad said he didn't do those. Stefano laughed and pulled him in for one, then toasted to his son.

Bo and Hope brought Ciara to the Brady Pub to talk to another little girl and her mother. Ciara claimed the girl, Kim, dared Ciara and Theo to climb a fence. Kim denied it, then lashed out at Ciara, noting she had been nice to Ciara when everyone else made fun of her because Hope went to jail. Kim and her mom left. Hope apologized to Ciara about the kids. Ciara didn"t care; she just wanted her parents to be happy. The Bradys reassured her that they were. Ciara went to Doug and Julie"s for the night and checked out maps of the area because she still planned to run away. Bo and Hope returned home. She went to his room and said goodnight. He asked if she wanted to continue sleeping in the guest room. She said no. They made love for the first time since their split.
Carly and Vivian ran into each other again in Java. Viv needled Carly by calling Nicholas to wish him a happy birthday. She asked if he liked the Maserati she got him and suggested he take a spin in Monte Carlo in it. Viv said she understood how hard it was for him to have a birthday without Lawrence. When she hung up, Carly approached the table and accused Vivian of working Nicky the whole time and that"s why he didn"t want to talk to Carly. Dr. Manning insisted she would get her son back. "You keep telling yourself that," Vivian said, then walked out. Carly called her son and had a troubling conversation with him: He told her she was as dead to him as Lawrence was. A rattled Carly headed to work and stole some pills from the cart. She tried to call Melanie, who didn"t answer. After, Carly pulled it together and threw the meds in the garbage.... Gus met Vivian on the pier. She trilled how Carly"s life had become hell.
Taylor discussed Fay's fall with Abe, noting it was suspicious. Abe pointed out that accidents happen and it wasn"t anybody"s fault.... "Rafe" sneaked into a supply room and stole some scrubs and disguised himself, intending to kill Fay. Maxine caught him but he covered and exited.... Nicole tried to understand what an agitated Fay was trying to tell her. Fay"s monitors went wild and Nicole rushed out to Taylor and Abe. Nicole told Taylor that Fay was trying to tell her a secret about EJ. Lexie came out and reported that Fay was stabilized and sedated. She suggested Nic and Taylor let Fay get a good night"s rest. Nicole refused to leave her mom alone. She went to call EJ. Once alone, Taylor confided to Lexie that she worried Fay knew something about her and EJ. Lexie and Taylor left to deal with Fay"s insurance. Nicole spoke to Abe and revealed that she had made peace with her mother. She then broke down in his arms. He suggested she and Taylor go home and get some rest.
In the insane asylum, the real Rafe read The Art of War and did pushups to build his strength.
Nicole and Taylor returned to the mansion. Nic said she was happy Taylor was there because she didn"t think she could have made it through the drama with Fay herself. A guilt-ridden Taylor flashed back to kissing EJ. Nicole then apologized for the way she"d treated Taylor over the years.... "Rafe" entered Fay"s room and sat on her bed. She opened her eyes and was alarmed to see him there.
