Days Of Our Lives Recaps
DAYS Week of April 28, 2008
Monday
Nicole told Chloe that Brady was alive. She found canceled checks Victor wrote to a rehab clinic in Switzerland. Nicole hired a private eye to get more information. Chloe admitted Brady was on drugs, ashamed, and wanted to cover it up. Victor interrupted and accused Chloe of being responsible and demanded to know what really happened. Chloe said Brady was lonely and unhappy, so she introduced him to some friends. Victor pointed out they were junkies and Brady ended up one, too. Chloe swore she tried to help him. Victor didn't buy it. Chloe said she loved Brady. Philip asked why Victor hadn't told him the real story. Victor didn't want Philip having to keep his secret. Victor ordered Chloe out of his sight. When Philip took her out, Nicole taunted Victor. He ordered Nicole away, too. Later, Chloe and Philip went to the police station. Chloe told Abe she wanted to press charges against Victor.
Sami and EJ bickered about the twins crying and keeping them up all night. EJ said they had to prepare for his immigration hearing tomorrow. They had to brush up on personal facts about each other — everything from favorite foods to favorite movies. The pair went through a list of things and noted each other's good and bad habits. EJ complimented Sami on being a good mother, but a terrible cook. Sami said he had the morals of a groundhog and brought up Nicole being his client. Nicole arrived, saying she needed to consult with her lawyer. She explained Victor had kicked her out and went on about spilling his big secret: Brady was alive in Switzerland recovering from a drug addiction.
Ava's goon took Steph from the pub. Max, realizing she was gone, headed out to find her. Meanwhile, the cops brought Ava into the station. She told them her father would be mad when he found out. Abe got off the phone and told Steve and Kayla the guy watching Stephanie reported she just vanished. Kayla and Steve headed off to find their daughter. Abe told Bo and Hope that Chelsea was back in the hospital, and they ran off to see her. Ava demanded Roman and Abe let her make a phone call. They did. Later they returned and asked Ava if she wanted to make a statement. She refused and demanded to see Steve. He was the love of her life. Ava went off about being in hell since Steve left her. She had no future without him. Then, Ava began convulsing.
Ava's goon dragged Steph into a warehouse. He threatened to kill her when Max arrived. Max told him to put the knife down — the cops were on their way. Steph kicked the goon and ran to Max. The cops arrived and captured the guy. Steve and Kayla followed and reunited with Steph. Max asked Steve if this had something to do with Ava. Steve said Ava was in police custody and thanked Max for taking care of Steph. Steve, Kayla and Steph returned to the pub, and Steph asked what happened at the Vitali compound. Kayla and Steve sidestepped. Steve told Victor that Bo and Hope were at the hospital, and Victor rushed off. Kayla wanted to put the ordeal at the Vitali compound behind them. Steve reminded everyone Ava's father was still around, so everyone still needed to be cautious.
At the hospital, Daniel prepared to tell Chelsea about her condition, as Bo and Hope arrived. Chelsea was thrilled to see them and asked about Hope's shoulder. Hope covered. Daniel informed them Chelsea had developed an infection. Bo fumed Chelsea should never have been his donor. Daniel promised Chelsea would be fine, but she did have peritonitis. Daniel was about to explain, when there was a loud scream outside. Bo and Hope ran to the hall, where Ava was being wheeled in. Roman explained Ava had had a seizure. Victor arrived and chastised Bo and Hope for going up against the mob without his help. Finally, everyone got back to the matter at hand: Chelsea's condition. Daniel announced Chelsea's fallopian tubes were affected and she'd never be able to have children.
Tuesday
At the station, Philip told Abe that Chloe was on her way to Zurich and thanked him for convincing the Austrian consulate to drop the charges against her regarding Brady's disappearance. Roman and Abe discussed Ava's case, then Roman asked Philip why he was there. "My father framed Chloe for Brady's disappearance. I want to make sure she can't press charges," he explained. Abe said Brady refused to testify against Victor, so there was nothing to charge him with.
Sami left Marlena a message to call her. Then she wondered if Nicole was lying about Brady being a drug addict. EJ suggested they get back to studying for the hearing. Marlena and John arrived, and Sami revealed Brady was alive. Victor interrupted and the whole truth came out: he'd stashed Brady in rehab and framed Chloe for his disappearance. Marlena was appalled. John scolded Victor for playing God with his son. Philip broke things up, demanding to talk to Victor. He explained he'd been at the station making sure Chloe couldn't press charges against Victor. "Since when is it against the law to save your grandson's life?" retorted Victor, insisting he behaved in the best interest of his family. Philip said his father knew no boundaries. John took a call and reported he'd been summoned to the Salem PD for questioning. Marlena accompanied him. Philip took Victor aside and told him about John's call. They wondered if it was about Paul taking bribes from John. Philip headed to the station to find out. Meanwhile, EJ and Sami got back to their studies.
At the cop shop, Morgan supported her father, while Roman and Abe questioned him. Abe said they had enough evidence to charge Paul with graft, but they would be willing to drop the charges. "If you finger John Black," noted Roman. John arrived and praised Paul's work. If he delayed the Kiriakis shipments, there must have been a problem. Abe asked if John offered Paul cash to delay the cargo. "That would be bribery," said John. Philip arrived, noting he was there in the interest of Kiriakis Shipping. John accused Philip of being there because he was the one who dropped the dime on Paul. "Are you admitting Paul is your patsy?" asked Philip. John demanded Roman and Abe produce hard evidence, if they had any. They didn't. Paul left. Morgan stayed behind to scold Philip for going after her father. Philip suggested she wake up regarding her daddy's misdeeds. Roman told John this case wasn't closed. John stared at Roman's nameplate and zoned out for a minute. Marlena and John returned to the pub, where Marlena asked if something had triggered his memory earlier. John downplayed it. Marlena told Sami she thought John was beginning to remember something. Then, she talked to Brady on the phone and made John do the same. John admitted speaking to his son was like speaking to a stranger. No matter; Marlena was hopeful after what happened at the station.
At the hospital, Bo went off about Chelsea risking her life for him and not being able to have kids. Daniel said Bo's behavior wasn't helping. The two men got into it. Bo asked how this happened. Daniel admitted they might never know, but if Bo was implying negligence, he was free to get a lawyer. Chelsea awakened and declared she trusted Daniel. Bo and Hope asked for time alone with Chelsea, so Lexie and Daniel left. Daniel told Lexie he'd lost objectivity. He couldn't be near Chelsea anymore and would be excusing himself from her case. Inside, a nurse came to fetch Bo, leaving Hope alone with Chelsea, who admitted she'd had a dream about Zack. When she learned she couldn't have kids, the little brother she'd killed was the first person she thought of. "It feels like some kind of justice," said Chelsea. Hope told her not to talk like that. What happened wasn't punishment for Zack's death. Bo stood at the door and watched. Lexie returned with Bo's test results. He was fine. Lexie took Hope off to check her shoulder. Then, Daniel handed Lexie Chelsea's file and contemplated saying goodbye. Instead, he walked off. Hope returned to Chelsea's room and watched her and Bo tenderly embracing.
Wednesday
Abe was on the phone with the DA discussing the lack of evidence against John and Paul when Lexie arrived. She had a bad day at work and needed to talk. She explained Chelsea's condition. Abe suggested he and Lexie head out for dinner together. Later, at the pub, Abe and Lexie talked about how busy they both were, but promised to make time for each other and Theo.
At the hospital, Bo visited Chelsea and mentioned a call from Billie. He and Billie thought Chelsea might do better coping with her diagnosis if she spoke to Marlena. Chelsea resisted counseling. Hope arrived, carrying Ciara. Soon, a doctor came in telling Chelsea she had to have more tests and then might be released. Chelsea wondered why Daniel wasn't the one delivering the news. The doc said Daniel wasn't on call. Chelsea thought it was weird he didn't say goodbye. Bo, Hope and Ciara left.
Kate happened upon Daniel getting plastered at the pub. "Shouldn't you be monitoring Chelsea rather than hanging out here drinking?" she asked. Daniel said he was no longer on Chelsea's case, but she would need Kate's support. Kate wanted to know what was going on. Ethically, Daniel couldn't say, but Kate sensed he was just as worried about Chelsea. Daniel flashed back to his earlier conversation with Lexie, where he admitted he'd lost objectivity with Chelsea's case. Then, he ordered another drink. Daniel's cell phone rang and it was Chelsea, asking why he hadn't said goodbye. Daniel said he got caught up, then dropped the bomb: he was no longer Chelsea's doctor. He'd handed her case over to Lexie. Chelsea thanked him for everything and said goodbye.
Tony walked through the pub talking on his cell phone, and Anna bumped into him. Tony called her "a klutz" before realizing it was Anna. He apologized. His mind was elsewhere. He was worried about Kate, because of everything going on with Chelsea. Anna sympathized, but wondered if something was going on between Tony and Kate. Tony assured Anna he loved her and only her with a kiss. Kate joined Anna and Tony and admitted she was nervous about appearing in the upcoming commercial for her and Tony's venture. Anna announced the duo weren't the only ones who were having fun. She had a new high-profile account, too. Tony was anxious to hear about it. Kate gave the pair a moment alone. She went over to Lexie and asked about Chelsea. Lexie noted Daniel took himself off Chelsea's case, because he was becoming emotionally involved. Anna told Tony her account with John was top secret. Tony wanted to stop the competition between them. Anna agreed to discuss it over dinner, but Kate returned and told Tony they had to leave for their meeting. Anna was perturbed.
Stephanie arrived and thanked Max for saving her life. They smooched. Max said once he found his relief bartender, he was all hers. Soon, relief arrived and Steph and Max headed up to his bedroom, where they started kissing, undressing and making love. Afterwards, they basked in the afterglow...that is, until Steph's cell phone rang and she answered it. (Huh?) It was Chelsea, needing to unload about Daniel dumping her as a patient. Chelsea wondered if it was because she couldn't have kids. If that was the case, Steph said she'd march down to the pub and let him have it. Later, Steph did exactly that, telling Daniel that Chelsea was hurt and needed to be around people she could trust. Max pulled her away, but Steph went back to scold Daniel some more. Later, she and Max headed back to his room for more kisses.
Back at the hospital, Nick stopped by to see Chelsea. Meanwhile, Hope consoled Bo, insisting what happened to Chelsea wasn't his fault. Still, Bo blamed himself for Chelsea facing a life without kids. Chelsea told Nick she was getting released soon and she couldn't have kids. Nick said he was sorry and reassured Chelsea with a hug and a kiss.
Thursday
Max brought Nick coffee while he worked on his grant project. He looked over Nick's work, entered some numbers into his calculator, and said, "I came up with a totally different answer than you did." Nick reworked the numbers; his calculations were wrong. Nick's cell phone rang. It was Daniel, telling him Chelsea was being released and heading home with Bo and Hope. Nick told Max he had to go.
Abe and Lexie stopped by the pub for a quick bite. Lexie wanted to get to the hospital. Bo and Hope were taking Chelsea home, and she wanted to be there for them. Abe noted their jobs were always going to keep them busy, but they'd made a pact to make their relationship a priority. Abe and Lexie discussed their dilemma. Lexie noted their time together seemed forced. They had issues they'd never resolved and needed counseling. Abe agreed to do whatever it took to make their marriage work. Then, he said he had to head to the hospital to question Ava.
Steve, Kayla and Stephanie woke up on the sofa, where they had all fallen asleep. When Steve headed to take a shower, Steph told her mom she'd never been happier, because she was in love. Kayla knew it was Max and was delighted.
At the hospital, Ava called out for Steve and Daddy. A nurse entered and injected something into her IV, promising Ava it would calm her down. Meanwhile, in Chelsea's room, Daniel apologized for taking himself off her case. "I want to be more than just your doctor...I think I'm falling in love with you," he confessed, as Hope snapped Chelsea out of fantasy land. Bo ran into Daniel in the hall. Daniel said Chelsea had been discharged and had no sign of infection. The two men entered Chelsea's room and Daniel told her she'd been released. He then excused himself. Hope thanked Daniel for everything and asked him to give Chelsea any special instructions before she left. He said a nurse would do it; Chelsea wasn't his patient any more. Daniel told Hope that Chelsea didn't need him any longer and would do better with Lexie handling things. Steve arrived and told Hope he was there to see Ava. He sat by Ava's bed and apologized for doing this to her.
Lexie arrived and wheeled Chelsea to the pharmacy to get her prescriptions filled. Kayla told a technician she wanted Ava's medication analyzed. Steph walked into Ava's room. Lexie returned with Chelsea, and Daniel walked up to say goodbye. Chelsea thanked him for being her doctor. Daniel noted they could still be friends. After they left, Daniel muttered, "I can't let it happen." Lexie asked Daniel if he was okay. He said he was, but was taking the rest of the day off. Later, the technician returned and told Kayla he had the results on Ava's pills, while Daniel booked a flight to Australia.
Steph chastised Ava for terrorizing her family. Kayla came in, tried to calm Steph, and took her away. Steph phoned Max and asked him to meet her at her parents' place. Abe arrived and asked Ava about the plane crash. "What plane crash?" responded Ava. Abe urged Ava to admit to kidnapping and shooting Hope. Ava insisted she didn't do anything wrong. "When my daddy gets here, I'll get justice," she vowed. Steve warned Abe that death and destruction followed Martino Vitali. Abe didn't want him for an enemy. Abe insisted he wasn't going to let Ava walk free. Kayla interrupted. She'd had Ava's pills analyzed, and they were never going to believe what they were.
Back home, Bo and Hope fussed over Chelsea. Nick arrived, bearing flowers, magazines and chocolate. "I so do not deserve you," commented Chelsea. Nick assured Chelsea's not being able to have kids didn't matter to him. Chelsea asked Nick to tell her about his grant project.
Steph thanked Max for coming over and explained how she'd confronted Ava. Max was proud of her. Steph thought seeing Ava and telling her what was on her mind would make me feel better. It didn't. Ava looked crazy. Max insisted there was nothing to worry about; Ava was facing jail time. Steph mentioned Ava's dad being a mafia boss. "Don't even go there. It's over," assured Max.
Friday
Kate prepared for her commercial shoot while people fussed over her. She told Tony it was a bit much, as Anna walked in. Barney explained an actor called in sick, and he'd have to find a replacement. Kate and Anna bickered until Tony broke things up. Kate told Tony either Anna went or she did, while Anna read the script aloud. Barney was impressed and said he wanted her in the shoot. Tony and Kate gasped. Soon, the shoot began, but didn't go well. Anna threatened to hit Kate with an omelet pan. "We need hair and makeup!" ordered Barney. "We need a miracle," countered Tony. Kate warned Anna she could forget the Internet account; Kate would never work with her again. Tony took Anna to the side and said Kate just needed to cool off. Anna realized Tony was taking a quite a risk; Kate might fire him. Tony noted there were other accounts, but no other Annas. He invited Anna to Chez Rouge for dinner later.
Marlena asked if she could use John's computer because hers kept freezing up. John wanted something in return and pulled Marlena into a kiss. Sami and EJ walked in. John scolded them for interrupting while he was making out with Doc. "Did you just call her Doc?" squealed Sami, noting the old John was back. Rolf heard and dropped his tray. Marlena set Sami straight. Old John wasn't back. Sami wondered why Marlena was kissing him. John said she loved it. Rolf offered to clean the chair he spilled the tray on. John told him to get rid of it. He wanted to get rid of lots of things in the mansion, starting with Stefano's picture. "Remove it now!" ordered John. Rolf froze, remembering the disc with John's memories was in the safe behind it. John walked over, pushed the painting aside, and noticed the safe. John asked for the combination. Rolf swore he didn't know it. John went to work on cracking it. John opened the safe and pulled out envelopes containing real estate documents. He found the disc and put it in his pocket. John asked Sami and EJ what they wanted. They said they needed Marlena and John to come to EJ's immigration hearing and testify. Sami told Marlena she didn't know when Lucas was coming back, and EJ had been a good father. Marlena couldn't make any promises, but agreed to go. Sami and EJ left to drop the twins at Maggie's and said they'd meet John and Marlena at the hearing. After everyone left, Rolf pondered how much trouble he'd be in if John discovered what was on that disc.
Bo's informant, Earl, begged Martino for his life, to no avail. His body ended up dead on the ground. Later, Kate happened by the crime scene. A cop questioned Kate, but her cell rang and it was Martino. He was in town and wanted to get together. Kate said she wasn't in that line of work anymore. Martino suggested buying her dinner and a drink. Kate agreed to meet him.
Kayla told Abe, Lexie, Steve and Ava she'd had Ava's medication analyzed. Ava said it was an invasion of privacy. Kayla informed Ava her pills were making her worse. She'd been taking anti-seizure medicine, which caused anxiety and mood swings. Ava couldn't think of a reason why her doctor wouldn't want her to get better. Then, she had a screaming fit. Steve and Kayla left, and Kayla asked Abe to run a search on Ava's doctor. Lexie took Kayla aside and asked if she'd told Steve what was in Ava's chart. Kayla told Steve that Ava tried to commit suicide after he left her. Later, Ava begged Steve not to leave her and asked why Kayla was being so nice to her. Kayla said she was doing her job. Steve told Ava her behavior was due to the drugs she was taking. Abe got a call and had to run. He arrived at Earl's murder scene and had a cop escort Kate to her car. Lexie called and Abe told her it was a professional hit. Back in Ava's room, she begged Steve to get her out of there. Steve refused, and Ava freaked out. "What the hell's going on in here?" asked Martino. "Well, look who's here," said Ava. Kayla asked the mystery man who he was. "I'm Ava's father," responded Martino.
