DAYS Week of April 13, 2009
Monday
Mia read EJ and Nicole's wedding announcement in the paper and remembered back to birthing her baby. Will arrived, and Mia commented about EJ and Nicole being the perfect family. Will revealed the bride-to-be used to be his stepmother. Mia was shocked. Will noted how his mom hates Nicole and how Nicole only married his dad for money. Then, he mentioned how Nicole drank. Mia claimed to know Nicole via a friend, who Nicole mentored. Will found that hard to believe, considering the major issues Nicole had. She'd been married a few times, and Will doubted her marriage to EJ would last long. Then, he told Mia about Nicole's porn star past. Mia was shocked and urged Will to tell her more. Will noted Nicole tried to kill a guy and told Mia she could find the whole story online. After Will left, Mia vowed not to let Nicole keep her baby.
Melanie ordered a salad at Java Café and asked to put it on Maggie's tab. The waitress noted Maggie didn't have one. Melanie mumbled about how she hated being poor, but had a backup plan. Mia put something in her salad, freaked and demanded compensation. The waitress told Melanie she'd either pay for her meal or scrub pots. Brady entered and volunteered to cover Melanie's bill. Melanie wondered why Brady was always so20nice to her and asked if he was single. He dodged the question. Melanie assumed he was still in love with "that awful woman," meaning Chloe. Brady said he still cared about Chloe. Melanie realized Brady had it bad for another woman and offered him advice. If he cared about this woman, tell her.
Nicole watched Rafe and Sami squabble about him leaving town and realized she knew Rafe. He was the cable guy she caught in her bedroom at the mansion. Sami and Rafe went back at forth about Sami's decision to tell EJ he was Grace's father. No matter what she did, Sami told Rafe she didn't want him to leave Salem. Rafe wouldn't make any promises. Rafe called Sami on ‘fessing up to EJ to stop his wedding to Nicole's wedding. Sami swore that wasn't the reason and that she wasn't in love with EJ. Rafe left, and Sami sobbed. Later, Sami's phone rang. She saw it was Rafe and picked up, but he hung up. Then, he made a another call telling someone he needed to talk. Rafe arrived at the convent to see Sister Agnes. He noted things didn't go well with Sami. She was determined to tell EJ about Grace, which meant he'd be back in her life. Rafe decided to cut his losses. He had a ticket to leave town tomorrow. Rafe said goodbye to Sister Agnes and asked her to check on Sami and Grace.
Stefano asked EJ where Nicole was. He was stunned to learn she was out on the eve of their wedding. EJ mentioned there might not be a wedding. EJ noted seeing Nicole embracing Philip's girlfriend and how it derailed him. Stefano called Nicole "a traitor" for associating with the Kiriakis family and their groupies. Nicole entered on cue spewing who the real traitor was and that she could prove it. She said she was just at Sami's and saw a man there named Rafe, who she actually met in the DiMera mansion when he was masquerading as a cable guy. Stefano went off to check on Nicole's claim. "Sami was spying on you," Nicole told EJ. EJ's phone rang and it was Sami. She needed to tell EJ something, now. EJ hung up on her. Nicole begged EJ for an answer: Was he going to marry her tomorrow? Stefano returned confirming the cable guy was Rafe. EJ wanted to deal with it later. Stefano agreed and left EJ and Nicole alone. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. EJ answered the door to find Sami. EJ asked if Sami was there to spy on him again. Sami denied the accusation. "Then why was Rafe here?" asked Nicole. EJ accused Sami of violating his life. Sami insisted Rafe was only there to check on Johnny. EJ shut the door in her face. EJ told Nicole he owed her an apology. He realized she is loyal and how much he loves her and wants her in his life. Then, he got down on bended knee and asked Nicole to marry him.
Tuesday
Mia followed Nicole to the Horton cabin. She told her she was a liar and couldn't keep her baby. Mia knew Nicole was an alcoholic porn star, who tried to kill someone. Nicole fought back on all counts, insisting she was a good mother. Chloe came outside to see what was going on. Nicole introduced Mia as the girl she was mentoring and said she was having a crisis. Mia challenged Nicole to tell the truth. Nicole dodged. Chloe left, telling Nicole not to put her wedding dress on without her. Mia told Nicole she wasn't going to need her dress, since there wasn't going to be a wedding. Nicole tried to calm Mia. She explained how her father forced her to do bad things. Mia asked about Nicole trying to kill Victor and suggested she might have killed Tony, too. Nicole swore that was an accident. Mia went to leave, noting she was going to get her daughter back. Nicole stopped her, insisting she'd changed. Then, she went on about losing her own baby. Finally, Nicole relented. She wouldn't fight Mia any more, but warned there could be repercussions when the truth came out. If the DA had an axe to grind, he could make it look like Mia tried to sell her baby on the black market. Mia could go to juvie and they'd take Sydney away from her.
Bo dreamt about Hope and Roman in bed together and seeing a newspaper dated April 14 — today. He awoke and found a note from Hope saying she had left for a meeting about a stakeout. At the Java Caf, Hope hugged Maggie; then, spotted Roman. She asked about Thompson. Roman reported Thompson had the flu, so he was her new stakeout partner. After getting a call, Roman reported the drug dealer had moved his operation from the pier to a motel. Bo arrived looking for Hope. Maggie noted she left with Roman. Meanwhile, Hope and Roman arrived at the motel. Roman said they had to turn their phones off, so the bad guys couldn't track their signal. Roman tried to radio the station, but it was dead and he didn't want to use the landline. Bo had another vision. Chatsworth came into the café and told Bo the stakeout location changed and radio communications were down. "Find Roman's informant. He'll know where they are," ordered Bo. Chatsworth returned, noting the informant was gone. Bo was furious. Back at the motel, Hope poured herself some coffee. She bumped into Roman and ended up spilling it all over her top. Hope changed into a robe. Roman apologized. Hope just wanted him to keep his distance. Roman wanted to know what was going on. Hope said it was ridiculous. She couldn't even discuss it. She peeked out the window, saw the drug buyer, and feared she'd been spotted. The doorknob to Hope and Roman's motel room started to turn, as they both drew their guns.
After summoning Chloe to the pub for a meeting, Kate asked Daniel to be a guest on her show. Daniel wasn't interested, but asked what he'd be interviewed about. Kate gave him the details and he agreed. Kate revealed she wasn't the show's host, just as Chloe entered. "Daniel has agreed to be on our show. Isn't that terrific?" squealed Kate. Chloe and Daniel didn't think so. Suddenly, Kate's assistant, Chris, ran in reporting the show's studio had burned down. "Looks like the show just got canceled," retorted Chloe, who thought it might be for the best, since she was offered that job in Vancouver. Kate insisted the show would go on. Maggie arrived. Daniel told her about the fire. Maggie had a solution. She offered up Chez Rouge as a new studio set. Kate was thrilled and asked if Daniel and Chloe were still on board. Reluctantly, they agreed. Kate wanted the pair's segment to be about healthy food choices. Chloe hoped Kate wasn't going to make her cook on the show. Kate said no, but noted Chloe might have to sample an entree or two. "That will probably be the most important part of the segment," noted Kate.
Wednesday
Brady brooded over the newspaper headline touting Nicole and EJ's marriage, while Nicole warned Mia about the consequences of revealing Sydney is hers. Mia was willing to take the risk. Until "compassionate" Nicole started doing
a number on her. Mia was suspicious but Nicole eventually got to her. Heartbroken Mia fled. Brady remembered Melanie's advice that he tell Nicole how she feels. Naturally, as Nicole breathed a sigh of relief over Mia, Brady appeared at her door. Nicole admitted she and Mia had fought and then
asked Brady to "fake being happy for me." He couldn't, and he had something to tell her. Nicole assumed it was about the baby secret. Brady told her she deserves more than a prepackaged baby deal" with EJ. They drew close enough
to kiss and Brady leaned in...but Nicole pulled away. She noted she and EJ were wired the same way but Brady was one of the good guys and needed better than her. "I need you," he declared. She begged him to leave, noting he'd
walked away from her before and could surely do it again. Brady didn't want to see her get hurt. Nicole didn't want to be saved. "You don't want to waste all the good stuff on me, Brady," she told him, kissing his cheek. He kissed her lips, regretfully, before walking out. Alone, Nicole tried on her veil and swore nothing would stop her from getting married.
Rafe flashed back on telling Sami he's leaving town and then knocked on her door with her St. Ann's medallion. No dummy, Will realized this was a goodbye and wondered if Sami had dumped Rafe. When Grace began crying, Rafe came in to settle the baby down. Will got a call from a teary Mia, who wanted to come over. Rafe cuddled a pink hat-wearing Grace and asked Will what was up. After Will stonewalled, he handed the baby off to him and said his goodbyes. Later, Mia refused to open up to Will but baby Grace was a different story. The infant cheered Mia's spirits — especially when Will got her to hold her!
Bo questioned a fellow cop, wondering where Hope was! He got increasingly cranky remembering his vision. On their stakeout, Hope didn't have a cell signal and when there was a knock at the door, she and Roman drew their guns. Luckily, it was just housekeeping. Then, their gun-toting quarry showed up in the parking lot! Bo finally got a tip about something going down at the Hacienda motel and burst in on Roman and Hope's room. The cops outside had taken down the bad guys! Bo was relieved to realize his visions weren't exact and Hope told him them being together on this was the most important thing.
Max brooded and then made nice with the new waitress...whom Melanie was promptly rude to. Max introduced his "freeloading" sis to Arianna and then chided Mel for her 'tude. Melanie complained about her new job at the hospital. Fortunately, a commotion with Arianna saved Max. He checked out her bruised wrist as Chelsea walked up and got a wee bit jealous. Max made introductions and
Melanie smirked knowingly. Mel and Chels traded some snark and then Chelsea praised Max's bedside manner. She was shocked when Melanie brought up Max's application for medical school. Was Max ever planning on telling her? "Probably not," he admitted, saying he hadn't want to disappoint her by not getting in. Chelsea had faith he'd get in and be a fantastic doctor. Max told her and Melanie he's turning his application in. As Max and Chelsea cuddled, Melanie ran into Brady by the docks. She comforted him with a passionate kiss.
Thursday
Brady walked away from Melanie, noting she didn't want to be around him right now. Melanie didn't mind being around angry guys. Besides, it sometimes led to passion. She kissed Brady again, but he pulled away. Melanie insisted she didn't mind being a stand in, especially since Brady was dying inside. Brady arrived at the Java Café as Melanie followed. She probed him about his mystery woman. Brady lamented that he never should have gotten involved with her and that he had to give her up, since she was getting married today. Melanie realized it was Nicole. She thought it was a good idea Brady dropped her, considering who Nicole was marrying. "EJ DiMera is pure evil," contended Melanie, insisting Nicole was making a mistake marrying him. Melanie worried about what would happen to Brady, if EJ ever found out he had a thing for his wife. She also contemplated Nicole's fate as Mrs. DiMera. "When she says I do, she's really signing her death warrant," said Melanie.
Chloe returned to the cabin and sensed something was wrong. "Has the wedding been called off?" she asked. Nicole admitted feeling like she was making a huge mistake. She recounted how Brady came by earlier and made it clear that if she called the wedding off, he'd be waiting for her. Chloe wondered if Nicole was having doubts. "No. EJ is the one," swore Nicole. Chloe gave Nicole her "something new" for her wedding: a bracelet. But when Nicole put it on it broke and fell to the floor. Nicole thought it was a bad sign, Chloe assured Nicole her wedding would be perfect, but Nicole continued to freak. Chloe thought Nicole was worried about Sami. Nicole swore she wasn't. "I took care of that stupid cow," spat Nicole, revealing how she told EJ about Sami's bodyguard spying on them. Chloe brought up the subject of karma. Nicole said she believed what she'd done to Sami was justified. She was sure her wedding was going to happen and be wonderful.
Stephanie stopped by the Kiriakis mansion to see Philip. They got cozy, but were interrupted by one phone call; then, another. Steph got annoyed. Finally, Philip turned his attention back to Steph only to discover she was on her way out. He promised there wouldn't be any more calls and suggested they start over. Steph wasn't interested and said goodbye.
"So are you ready to make this happen?" asked Stefano. EJ wondered if he was talking about his wedding or their plans for Philip. Stefano said the wedding. He knew it was a special day for his son, albeit a difficult one since Tony wasn't there. That's why Philip had to be dealt with today! The two bickered back and forth about the timing. "We have to strike while their guard is down," asserted Stefano. EJ relented, and Stefano made a call. Later, a hit man arrived. EJ gave him his instructions and he headed off to take care of Philip.
Sami told Lucas she was about to do something that was going to change her life and she needed Lucas to know about it. Lucas didn't want to hear it, but Sami insisted. Then, she delivered her bombshell: the baby she was carrying didn't die; it's Grace and she's EJ's daughter. Lucas was outraged. "Tons of people are going to be mad," he warned. Sami insisted she had to ‘fess up about Grace. EJ deserved to know the truth. Lucas asked why Sami was doing this. Was it for Grace, for EJ or just to stick it to Nicole? Sami swore she didn't care about that "stupid slut." Lucas realized what Sami really cared about: EJ. She still had "the hots" for him. Sami insisted she didn't want EJ back in her life. Lucas warned EJ would be furious when he learned the truth. Sami said EJ's anger would disappear, once he saw Grace. She was determined to tell EJ about his daughter, today.
Friday
Stefano and EJ shared a drink and toasted Tony as they waited for their car. Stefano pointed out that this was not only EJ's wedding day, but also the day Philip paid in full for what he'd done. Father and son discussed the impending hit. EJ wanted to tell Nicole what was going down. Stefano didn't think they should, since she had no say in the family business.
Sami phoned Rafe and left him a message as she left her apartment with Grace. Sami was nervous, but knew she had to tell EJ the truth about his daughter. Meanwhile, Lexie prepared to leave the hospital for her brother's wedding. Dr. Baker overheard her talking and muttered that his invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. Later, Lexie stopped by the pub to get a sandwich. Max offered his condolences about Tony. Lexie had second thoughts about going to the wedding. After all, Tony had just died. Sami raced into the pub, rambling on about a flat tire. Max went out to fix it, only to return and report Sami's spare was flat, too. Since Chelsea had Max's car and Caroline was out, Sami decided she had to walk to the church. She went to get Grace's stroller from her car and bumped into Masi, the hit man. Max tended to Grace and noticed she seemed sick. Sami insisted the tyke was fine and that she was taking her to EJ, now.
Philip walked into a hotel room anticipating a business meeting, but found a seductively clad Stephanie. "I wish all my clients dressed like that," smiled Philip. Steph noted how business seemed to be the only thing to get his attention. Steph took Philip's cell phone, so they wouldn't be interrupted. Then, the twosome started making out. "No one in the world has a clue where we are," whispered Steph. Little did they know Masi was searching for Philip. Things got hotter and heavier between Steph and Philip. Philip asked Steph is she was sure she wanted to do this. She was, and they proceeded. Masi got a call from an informant, telling him Philip's location. Steph and Philip cuddled post sex and discussed their relationship. Philip promised to try to be the guy she could trust. Then, the couple got back to business. Outside, Masi took out his gun. Inside, Philip told Steph he loved her and would never leave her.
At St. Luke's, Nicole had a mini meltdown, because she left her pearls in the car. Chloe went outside to get them and bumped into Brady. Brady told Chloe he wanted to see Nicole. Chloe told Brady he should turn around and go home. Brady refused to go. Chloe noted that this wasn't going to turn out like The Graduate, where Elaine ran off with Ben. Inside, Nicole prayed. She wanted to be a good mother to Sydney and a good wife to EJ and asked for God's help to get through this day. Nicole turned around to find Dr. Baker standing there. "Get out, now!" demanded Nicole. Dr. Baker said he couldn't stay away on her big day. Besides, he had a lot to do with putting this day together. Dr. Baker revealed he was there to remind Nicole she shouldn't get on his bad side. Then, he toyed with Nicole, saying he was thinking of bringing a guest with him: Mia. Nicole prayed some more and remembered back to her last confrontation with Mia.
Stefano and EJ arrived at the church, as did Lexie. Everyone went inside, while EJ took a quick call from Masi. EJ spotted Brady and asked him to leave. Chloe began walking down the aisle, followed by Nicole. She and Brady caught each other's eye. Then, Brady exited as a DiMera henchman followed. Father Matt began the ceremony. Brady watched from the vestibule; then, left. The henchman followed Brady to the pier. Father Matt talked about how Nicole and EJ had their ups and downs like most couples. (Cue the flashbacks!) Nicole got all teary-eyed. Outside, Sami heard church bells and realized she was too late to stop the wedding. EJ took Nicole's hands, when Father Matt asked if there was any present who knew just cause why this couple should not be married. Mia stepped up. "Yes dear, what is it you'd like to say?" asked Father Matt.
