DAYS Unusual Twosomes Page 2

Jack and Greta (2001-02)
After being spurned by Eric and Austin, Greta set her sights on Jack. Jack, however, was determined to get back together with ex-wife Jennifer. In order to let Greta down easy, Jack told her he was gay — and from there, things got out of hand. Greta tried to set him up with her friend Harold; while in Las Vegas, she, Harold and Jack unwittingly got involved with mobsters and had to dress up as showgirls to escape them. Despite their relationship being based on a lie, though, Jack was genuinely fond of her and did his best to be a loyal friend. He gave Greta plenty of advice on men and never failed to tell her how great she was so that she’d have the confidence to pursue someone else. Unfortunately for him, Greta was less than forgiving when she learned of his lie, and left town.Eugene and Calliope (1985-89)
This inventor and fashion designer were a mismatch in heaven — and thanks to the efforts of Marlena, Alice and Anna, finally came together. Of course, the pair enjoyed many adventures, including Calliope’s attempt to pass as a society lady, her decision to wear a light-up dress on their wedding day (which almost caught fire), an appearance on THE NEWLYWED GAME and a brief separation, thanks to Eugene disappearing in his time machine. Presumably, this wacky pair is still together. We’re confident that they’re happy wherever — and whenever — they are.

Edmund and Susan (1997-98)

After all she’d been through, what with impersonating Kristen and having her true identity exposed at “Kristen” and John’s wedding, no one deserved to find love more than socially stunted, Elvis-adorin’ Susan. And who better to give it to her than the equally awkward Edmund? It was love at first sight for these two as soon as their glasses fell off and they gazed into each other’s eyes. Through deception (Edmund thought he was marrying Susan, when it was actually Kristen) and murder (he accidentally killed Susan’s long-lost sister, mistaking her for Kristen), this duo remained kindred spirits. Now happily living a Kristen-free life in England (they tricked her into being held prisoner in the Caribbean), we’re sure they’re having a jolly good time.Mimi and Kevin (2001-02)
Whoda thunk perky, peppy Mimi, best pal to uber-popular Belle and a wannabe member of the “in” crowd, would dare be seen with nerd extraordinaire Kevin? Well, we certainly didn’t, and neither did she. But when Meems kissed bumbling, stuttering Kev (to bribe him into helping her and Jan get revenge on Chloe) and got a view of his buff pecs, her go-to geek suddenly became tres chic. Mimi soon learned that smart is sexy and stopped caring so much about what her peers think of her. Though she and Kevin have since broken up (he’s in college in California), she has moved on to another hunky genius, Rex. Talk about having mind and matter.
