DAYS: Steve And Kayla Wedding Preview

In the new issue of Digest, DAYS’s Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans (Steve and Kayla) preview their characters’ upcoming wedding. “Albert Alaar and Janet Drucker, our fabulous producers who we love so much, did such a great job allowing us to make it our own,” says Evans. “We have had this journey and come to such a deep place that we didn’t need a boat or an exotic location… I mean, I think really honestly it could have been in the dark, with one light shining on us, and it would have been fine. The characters really have a deep connection.” Nichols adds, “It was about us, it was our journey from the very beginning culminating in this wedding and the wedding was more about what we said to one another. Our vows. We talked to each other and told each other why we loved one another. For Steve, he had to tell Kayla once and for all that he wouldn’t be here, he wouldn’t be the person he is, he may even be dead if it weren’t for her. He really let Kayla know how much he appreciates her. We both felt that it was very important that we were finally coming together after all this time and making this commitment again. We were saying the things that these characters would say, and Mary Beth and I worked on it and made it our own…. It was my best day since returning to the show. We were in it from beginning to end. And I could feel the love around us.
