Monday
At the pub, Sami promised Grace that they'd tell EJ he's her dad once Grace is feeling better. Meanwhile, Mia stood up to say something at the wedding and EJ asked the teen who she is. After a beat, he recognized her from the Java Café and asked Mia why she's interrupting his wedding. Dr. Baker intervened and put a persuasive arm around Mia, who stuttered, "I'm sorry. I do want you to be happy, Nicole. I do." Nicole claimed to EJ that she has no idea why Dr. Baker is there or why the teenager spoke out. She explained that she's just been helping Mia because the teen has a lot of problems. Nicole heaved a sigh of relief when EJ agreed to resume the ceremony.
Melanie stumbled over a body on the pier and found Brady lying on the ground. She managed to stir him and he muttered, "Payback ... is what happened." Melanie propped him up and yelled for help but no one came running, so she helped him to the Brady Pub.
Sami checked Grace's temperature and was alarmed that she had a 101-degree fever. While she was on hold with the pediatrician, Max asked if Sami has the baby's medical records. Sami nervously assured him that she does. After speaking with the doctor, she determined that Grace is teething and just needs baby Tylenol. While Max was out of earshot, she once again vowed to Grace that she'd tell EJ the truth as soon as possible. Melanie came in with a bruised and battered Brady and Max rushed over. He sat down and revealed that someone jumped him from behind and took his wallet and his phone. He insisted it was a random mugging and that he didn't see his assailant.
Back at the church, Mia stood up during a reading but Baker quickly escorted her outside. Nicole whispered to EJ that the girl is just emotional and vowed that she didn't invite her. Outside, Mia insisted to Dr. Baker that she doesn't want those crazy people raising her baby. The doctor explained that the DiMeras are evil killers and she doesn't want to mess with them. He showed her articles illustrating this and told her that stepping in to claim Sydney will only compromise the baby's safety. He advised her to accept the fact that she can never get her baby back.
The ceremony proceeded as the priest began the vow exchange but the nuptials were halted once again, this time by Stefano. He proceeded to give a speech about the importance of family and asked if she truly understands what it means to be a DiMera. She nodded tearfully, "Yes, Stefano I do." He gave Nicole her blessing and the priest continued for about half a second until EJ jumped in ... with his own vows (whew!). He recalled their split and how he realized that it wasn't just the baby but her that he knew he would miss.
After failing to stop Sami from going to the wedding, Brady asked her to be careful. At the hospital, Melanie asked why Brady didn't reveal to Sami that EJ is the one who beat him up. He said it was complicated. Melanie wondered if it was her fault that Brady got beat up, seeing as she urged him to share his feelings with Nicole before the wedding. He assured her that she's not to blame, so Mel prodded about Sami and her multiple kids. She was confused to hear that the twins have different dads and didn't understand why Sami would adopt when she's already dealing with twins. Brady didn't have an explanation for that one, then noted that there was some serious tension at the wedding.
At their hotel, Stephanie and Philip heard the doorknob being jostled. At the wedding, the man on the earpiece asked if "it" was done as the gunman called "room service" outside Philip's door. Stephanie remembered that they have a free bottle of champagne coming, but persuaded Philip to have it left at the door. The gunman aimed his silencer at the doorknob, but backed away when a maid entered the hallway. As she approached Philip's room, he jabbed a syringe in her neck and removed the room keys from her pocket. After making love again, Stephanie and Philip placed an order with room service. The hit-man returned and approached the door with a key, while Philip was watching Steph dress with a giant grin on his face. At the wedding, Stefano looked over at his henchman, who nodded ominously. The gunman made his way into the hotel suite and shot Brady right in the chest. The priest was about to declare EJ and Nicole husband and wife when Sami entered and called out, "Wait!"
Tuesday
As Philip rested in bed, Stefano's hit man entered and shot him directly in
the chest. As he bled and convulsed, Stephanie came out of the bathroom and
screamed. The hit man pointed the gun at her, then went back to shoot Philip
again but the chamber was empty. Stephanie's screams brought in two
maintenance workers from the hall and the hit man fled. A tearful Steph
begged Philip to stay with her while the maintenance men called for help.
B
At the church, Sami shocked the congregation when she entered with Grace and
stopped the wedding. "Is there a problem?" asked the Reverend. Chloe asked
Stefano why Sami would interrupt the service. "She's crazy," he replied.
Just then, a henchman walked up to Stefano and said, "The job is done." The
bride, groom and Sami stepped into the anteroom, where Nicole blasted Sami
for being a bitch. Sami countered that the reason she was there had nothing
to do with Nicole which, of course, infuriated the bride. Nicole launched
into a tirade of name-calling and Sami asked EJ if they could speak
privately. EJ refused, stating whatever Sami had to say, she could say in
front of his wife. Sami pointed out that Nicole was not his wife yet. Nicole
wanted to physically throw Sami out but EJ restrained her. EJ asked for one
minute and then he'd get Sami to leave. Just then, Lexie burst in with the
news that Philip had been shot. Sami looked at EJ and said, "You bastard."
"Why are you suddenly angry with me?" he wondered . Sami took Grace and
left in a huff. EJ started to follow but Nicole ordered him to make a
choice: "Run after her or marry me," she huffed. EJ apologized and winked at
her. "Let's do this," he smiled. They returned to the congregation and
finally, the Reverend made it through the entire service. EJ and Nicole were
married. After the service concluded, Stefano told EJ that he was going to
stop by the hospital to see how Philip was doing.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Victor got a call about Philip. He dropped what he
was doing and rushed out.
At the hospital, Melanie treated a badly beaten Brady. She stated that it's
only been a few days but she was adjusting to the blood and guts of hospital
life. Suddenly, Mel got emotional and chastised Brady for his behavior,
saying that he could have gotten himself killed. When she pointed out that
the wedding was probably over by now, Brady claimed that he wasn't
interested. Melanie didn't believe him. Then, Mel noted that she has a big
mouth and doesn't always know when to shut up. Brady asked her to drop the
subject for good. Melanie agreed but added that she wished her friend wasn't
in love with someone who didn't love him back. Brady said he doesn't want
pity and he's ready to move on. Just as Brady was about to leave the
hospital, Philip was rushed in and and a tearful Stephanie collapsed in
Mel's arms. Brady tried to calm her down while Melanie went to get some
clothes for Steph. "There was so much blood," Steph tearfully repeated.
Philip was rushed into surgery. Lexie arrived and the kids gave her the
latest news. Lexie said she was headed into the O.R. Brady told the girls
that they needed to be strong for Victor's sake. Just then, Victor arrived.
Later, Lexie returned and said Philip survived surgery but he was in
critical condition. As Victor sat in the waiting room, he recalled cutting
Philip off and his last cryptic exchange with Stefano about Tony's death.
Stephanie asked Lexie to see Philip. The doc stated that he was unconscious
but she saw no harm in it. Before going in, Stephanie recounted the events
of the shooting to Victor, who realized that the shooter had used a
silencer. Then, Victor saw Brady's beaten face and declared war on the
DiMeras. Shortly afterward, Stefano showed up. Victor grabbed Stefano by
the arm and said that, "This isn't over. It's just the beginning." A tearful
Stephanie sat at Philip's bed and recalled all their happy times. Just then,
Philip opened his eyes but a moment later, he flatlined.
In the park, Sami called the hospital for info on Philip and pretended to be
Cassie. She then returned to the church and told Grace that there was
something that mommy had to do. As EJ bid the guests farewell, he spotted
Sami and the baby. Sami demanded that EJ admit that he was behind Philip's
shooting. He said he'd spill if Sami would admit the real reason that she
interrupted his wedding.
Wednesday
At the hospital, Stephanie held vigil at Philip's bedside. He briefly opened
his eyes and then flatlined. Stephanie sobbed and screamed for help.
Daniel rushed in with a nurse, grabbed the defibrillator and tried to revive
Phil. Stephanie continued to sob and was ushered out of the room. Meanwhile,
in the waiting room, Victor blamed Stefano for trying to kill Philip and the
men threatened each other. Kate arrived, demanding to know why she was
summoned to the hospital. Victor broke the news to her about Phil's
shooting; she broke down in tears. Victor urged her to stay strong while he
waited to hear from Daniel. Kate was eager to see Phil. When Stefano entered
to give his condolences, Victor lashed out at him and told Bo that DiMera
put a hit out on Phil as revenge. Bo tried to get the facts straight and
detained Stefano until he talked to everyone else.
At the church, Nicole worried about what was taking EJ so long to show up.
Chloe advised Nicole to just let EJ be, pointing out that she has nothing to
worry about regarding Sami and wondering why she always seems to be looking
for things to go wrong. It suddenly occurred to Nicole that she should
probably tell Chloe about Philip's shooting, adding that he might die. Chloe
was understandably miffed that Nicole didn't tell her before and rushed off
to call Lucas, then left to go to the hospital. Meanwhile, EJ was in the
vestibule, demanding to know the real reason why Sami interrupted his
wedding. "It has nothing to do with me and Nicole and has everything to do
with us," he surmised. Sami was stunned when EJ said he thought she came to
the church because she's still in love with him. He then explained all the
reasons why she would be, saying he understands how Sami feels but that she
needs to take the high road because he's married to Nicole now and, aside
from Johnny, there's nothing between them. Sami railed at EJ for being so
egotistical and pointed out that she'd never be desperate enough to fall for
him again. When he demanded again to know why she came to the church, she
glanced nervously at baby Grace. "I don't owe you an explanation!" she said,
adding that she has no doubt that he's behind Phil's shooting, calling his
hit man incompetent. "Excuse me?" EJ asked. So, Sami revealed that Philip is
not dead.
Back at the hospital, Stephanie told everyone in the waiting room what
happened. "He can't die!" she sobbed as she hugged Bo. Kate refused to lose
her son; Stephanie pointed out that he's still fighting. Later, Daniel came
into the the waiting room to tell everyone that Phil was stabilized again but
his lung collapsed and he lost a great deal of blood and they're concerned
about possible internal bleeding, adding that he can't guarantee he'll make
it. He refused to allow visitors until his condition improved. Kate thanked
Daniel, who vowed to do everything he could. Bo asked Stephanie for a
description of the shooter. Kate angrily slapped Stefano for plotting to
shoot her son. "You're dead to me!" she cried. Bo questioned DiMera, who said
his alibi was being at EJ's wedding. Bo demanded to know who he called
during the ceremony. Stefano beat around the bush and walked away. "Let the
games begin!" Bo said.
At the chapel, Nicole made a few calls to postpone the reception and was
preoccupied about what EJ was doing in the vestibule. She entered right
after Sami left. Nicole said she wouldn't stand for people blaming the
DiMera family for Phil's shooting and was eager to go home and celebrate her
wedding. Later, she caught EJ on the phone discussing "a package that didn't
arrive".... Sami went home and told baby Grace she's glad she didn't tell
the truth to EJ. Will entered and said that Rafe came by to drop off a
necklace for her. Sami pressed Will to tell her exactly what Rafe said. She
flashed back to the moment she and Rafe kissed for the first time. "He cares
about me. He has to, right?" She convinced herself to call him and was
stunned that his number had been disconnected.
After looking at Philip's medical file, Daniel told everyone he had more
troubling news.
Thursday
Lucas joined Chloe, Kate, Stephanie and Victor at the hospital as Daniel was explaining that Philip's blood wasn't clotting. He explained that there was another option and Kate blurted out that she doesn't trust him. She apologized to Daniel for her outburst. Lucas asked Kate why she doesn't trust Daniel and she relented and gave Daniel her assent to induce hypothermia, a risky procedure that could save Philip's life. Victor assured Kate that she had to put her personal resentment of Daniel aside for Philip's sake. Kate swore that if Philip survived, she was going to become a
more loving and forgiving person. Stephanie wept as she gazed into Philip's room. Chloe apologized to Lucas for falling apart over Philip; Lucas was understanding. Daniel emerged from Philip's room and announced that they would know soon if the procedure worked, "one way or the other." Stephanie went into Philip's room and sat vigil as Kate reiterated to Victor that if Philip lived, she was going to drop her vendetta against Chloe. Lucas told Kate that he had been able to inform Austin, but not Billie, about Philip's
condition. Chloe felt guilty when Lucas thanked Daniel for everything he'd done for his family. After Stephanie told Philip that she loved him, he woke p. Kate was ecstatic when Daniel shared the good news with the family. A weak Philip told Stephanie that he loves her. Kate and Victor came to see their son and Kate expressed her pride in Philip. Victor told Philip that
he, too, was proud of him and commented that "they were in this together." Philip's next visit was from an admiring Lucas. Chloe thanked Daniel for what he'd done and they wished each other well. Uncomfortable with the effusive praise a returning Lucas heaped on Daniel, Chloe led Lucas away.... Kate asked Victor what he meant by him and Philip being in this together. "Business," replied Victor. She blasted him for bringing up business with Philip while he was in the hospital. Victor vowed that the DiMeras would never come after Philip again. Kate was a wee concerned about how ominous Victor sounded.... When Stephanie rejoined Philip, she told him about how he'd been shot (he had no memory of the event). He was concerned for her safety and insisted that she get away from him, that he was bad for her.
"Leave," he said. "Now." Stephanie made it clear that she wasn't going anywhere; Philip relented.... Victor called a henchman and said that once Stefano was on the move, he would issue his next orders.... Daniel said that Philip would soon be on the mend, pleasing his relatives. Victor returned to Philip's bedside to seethe about the DiMeras. Victor told Philip to close his eyes and he said a prayer over his son.
Bo approached Stefano, who didn't want to speak to him without his attorney present. Bo told Stefano to shut up and listen. He noted that Stefano's focus on revenge was the cause of his family's problems, not to mention their desertion. Stefano bristled at the mention of Tony but Bo advised him to honor Tony's memory by behaving with dignity. Bo threatened to kill Stefano if he ever so much as looked at Philip again. Stefano asked if he could now enjoy his latte in peace. Bo walked away and Stefano placed a call to one of his minions and learned that Philip was going to survive. "Damnit," he seethed.
EJ carried Nicole over the threshold. Nicole was freaked out by the presence of Marco, a bodyguard EJ had hired to protect them. Nic sighed that this isn't how she pictured her wedding day; he concurred. She told EJ she wasn't sure that she could live like this. EJ reminded her that she had begged him to marry her and vowed never to let anybody lay a finger on her or the baby. He acknowledged that life as a DiMera had its challenges. They exchanged "I love yous" and decided to start over again with him carrying her over the threshold again. After a champagne toast, they fed each other chocolate-covered strawberries and he gave her an extravagant pair of earrings. Nicole excused herself when EJ had to take a call from Stefano, who informed him that Philip had taken a turn for the better and the problem needed to be taken care of. EJ said he would handle it. Back at Java, Bo told Stefano that he'd overheard the call and that it was time for DiMera to stop talking. Stefano rolled his eyes. Bo said he now had probable cause; Stef smirked that all Bo had was an overactive imagination. Bo threatened to have EJ hauled in for questioning on his wedding night so Stef gave Bo the address of EJ's honeymoon spot.... EJ and Nicole slow-danced and smooched.... Bo noted to Stefano that he would be unlikely to get anywhere with EJ that night and that he was going to do things by the book. "There's a first time for everything," smirked DiMera... EJ and Nicole were poised to consummate their marriage when she heard a suspicious noise. EJ came downstairs to find Stefano, who urged EJ to return to his bride, which EJ did. After sipping some of his Java beverage, Stefano began to experience shortness of breath. Before long, he collapsed.
Friday
At the Java Café, Rafe worked on his laptop and thought of Sami. He picked up his plane ticket and left. At the townhouse, Sami looked at the religious medal Rafe gave her and thought about him. After, she took Grace and met Roman at the Brady Pub. The infant smiled at her grandfather. Roman apologized to Sami for not being so accepting of Grace at first. The conversation turned to Rafe: Roman revealed he was leaving for New York that day. Sami asked for help. Roman called his contacts and found out what flight Rafe was on. Sami asked her dad to watch Grace and hurried to the airport. He wished her luck. She arrived at the airport and explained to Rafe that she couldn't let him leave without telling him how she felt about him.
Brady and Victor waited at the hospital for news of Philip. Vic damned EJ for trying to murder Phil. "This is just the beginning, Brady. That son of a bitch is going to rue the day he ever tried to screw with my family," Mr. K declared. Brady urged his grandfather to take the high road. Victor wasn't planning to go that route. Brady said that while he didn't approve of Vic's tactics, he was there for him.
After collapsing on the floor of the DiMera manse, Stefano came to and wondered what had happened. He read the paper, whose headline was about Philip's shooting. Stefano noted that it was a problem Phil wasn't dead.
EJ woke up his bride and the new Mr. and Mrs. DiMera continued their honeymoon in bed. After, she got up and noticed that there was a fleet of guards outside the manse. EJ reminded her that she wasn't supposed to complain anymore. EJ went to check on Sydney then checked in with Stefano. The Phoenix noted that he was sorry EJ and Nicole couldn't take a proper honeymoon. He then warned his son that the Kiriakises would get revenge on them. Stefano reminded EJ that Nicole couldn't come and go as she pleased. Nicole came in and overheard. She refused to be imprisoned in her house. EJ said she could leave as long as a guard was with her. Stefano assigned one to her and ordered them not to let Nicole out of their sight. Stefano still felt lightheaded.
Mia looked at a photo of EJ, Nicole and Sydney and vowed to see her baby. She called Nicole's cell phone and demanded to see Sydney. After, Nicole called Dr. Baker to vent. Nicole and Mia "ran into" each other on the pier. Nicole acted surprised in front of the guard. Mia asked to hold the baby. Nicole said okay, but insisted it would be the last time. Mia took Sydney and noted that something wasn't right. "She doesn't seem like my baby," the teen noted. Nicole took the baby back and pointed out that Sydney wasn't Mia's baby anymore. Nicole left. Mia accidentally hit a nail and got a cut on her arm. She went to the hospital, where she was surprised to see Dr. Baker. He got her cleaned up. She admitted that she had been feeling mentally down because she held Sydney and the baby didn't feel like hers. "There's a reason the baby didn't feel like yours and I think it's time you know exactly what it is," Dr. B replied.
EJ and Stefano talked about how they missed Tony more every day. Roman came to see the DiMera men and questioned them about the hit on Philip. Nicole returned home and Stefano left. He went to the Java Caf and questioned Jackie the barista about the woman who was there the day before. "Malina?" Jackie asked. Stefano wondered if that was a Greek name. After, he wondered if he had been poisoned.
Brady and Nicole ran into each other outside the Brady Pub. They caught up about what happened after he came to the church. Nicole went inside, and exchanged barbs with Victor. Brady ran into EJ outside and they had a heated exchange.
