Monday
Chloe tracked down an exhausted Daniel at the hospital to talk about Kate and how she knows about them. Daniel noted that the reason he and Chloe weren't together was because she didn't want to hurt Lucas, not because Chloe didn't want Daniel. Chloe insisted she wanted to be married — and faithful — to Lucas to honor her pact with God. He asked if her marriage made her happy. She said that even if she said yes, he would say she was lying. She told him that she wasn't his concern anymore. Daniel implored her not to let Kate away with torturing her.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Lucas arrived to find Kate leaving for London. She revealed Billie had a setback and she was headed overseas. Kate admitted she was scared. Lucas referenced how Kate had been avoiding him for two days. She insisted it wasn't true. He brought up her fight on the pier with Chloe and asked what it was about. She was evasive, but he pushed. Kate reminded him that she was never on board for him marrying Chloe. He pointed out that Chloe saved Kate's life with her bone marrow. Kate didn't care and said that Lucas made a mistake by making Chloe his bride. Lucas didn't know where his mother's anger was coming from and told her to butt out of his life. She was upset that they were saying good-bye on such a bad note.
Nicole checked in on Dr. Baker at the hospital. He accused her of trying to push him down the stairs and kill him. She reminded him that he tripped. They argued. He threatened to tell EJ the truth. She didn't believe him. The conversation became loud. Daniel entered and asked what was going on. He told Nicole to leave or else he'd call security. After, Dr. B asked Daniel for the phone. Nicole came back in to Baker's room later and told him about the Kiriakis/DiMera war and what Dr. B might be facing if he blabbed about the baby. Baker agreed to keep mum as long as she stayed away from him — forever. They agreed to the deal and shook on it. Nicole headed home. Back at the hospital, Dr. Baker wrote a letter saying that in the event of his death, Nicole was responsible.
In the dark room, EJ spied Stefano in bed with a sheet over him. EJ was alarmed, but Vic assured him that Stefano was okay. EJ bristled when Vic called him Elvis and insisted that Victor give his father insulin. All in good time, Vic assured. Victor brought a nurse in to give Stefano some insulin, but it wasn't a sufficient dosage. EJ asked what he wanted. "Everything, Elvis. Everything," Vic smirked. Victor had a contract for EJ to sign over DiMera Enterprises to him. EJ refused. "Then you're signing your father's death warrant," Vic warned, adding that he was offering money along with the transaction. He gave EJ 72 hours to get the DiMera affairs in order or else the Phoenix dies. (Again.) EJ warned that Stefano would retaliate. "If you try to double-cross me, your father dies," Vic said simply. Vic's thug hit EJ, rendering him unconscious. He came to on the pier and vowed that it wasn't over.
Bo and Hope went to the Brady Pub. They discussed Philip and Victor. Max came over and asked if they had heard from Chelsea. Bo said no. Max admitted he was worried. His cell phone rang; it was Chelsea. They were all relieved. Ciara returned from a day in the park with Caroline. She was clutching her teddy bear. Bo has a flash of finding the bear in the woods and was disturbed.
Lucas picked up Chloe at the hospital. She reported that her checkup went well. He told her about his fight with Kate. He urged Chloe to tell him what was really going on. She asked him to drop it. He said okay but that he wanted to talk to Daniel first. She told him not to. He said he was just going to tell Dan that Kate was going to London. Chloe insisted it wasn't a good time for Lucas to chat up Daniel.
Tuesday
Rafe came by Sami's and asked about Grace. Sami reported that her fever had broken. They got frisky, then tried to make a plan to "take a nap" together later.
Victor called Elvis to see if he had made a decision about Stefano and DiMera Enterprises. EJ didn't respond, so Victor hung up on him.
Stephanie and Philip basked in the happy glow of their engagement, though security guards were all around. Phil suggested she call her family and tell them the happy news. She went to make the call. Victor came in and Philip told him about the proposal. Victor noted that it was sudden, but said as long as Philip loved her, then all was good. Caroline arrived at the Kiriakis manse and wasn't thrilled to hear about Stephanie and Philip's engagement. She asked to speak to Steph privately. Phil groused to Victor but his father told him that that's what went along with marrying into the Brady family. "I'm going to get you a veil and a bulletproof vest," Caroline told Steph. Caroline warned her granddaughter that she wasn't going to be able to change Philip and that her love for him wasn't going to make him turn his back on his life as a Kiriakis. Steph insisted Phil wasn't like Victor, but Caroline countered that Steph was lying to herself. Steph headed back outside in time to hear Philip talking about eliminating the DiMeras. Caroline joined them. Victor assured her that he would keep Stephanie safe. Phil could tell that Steph was bothered by something. Henderson brought out champagne. Victor was about to propose a toast when there was a whirring sound. Steph was startled and spilled her drink. Owen, the gardener, appeared and apologized for spooking her. Victor toasted to Stephanie, "The newest member of the Kiriakis family." After, Victor asked to speak to Caroline alone and promised her that he would not stoop to Stefano's level and retaliate against the DiMeras. Phil told Steph he was determined to make Caroline like and trust him.
Dr. Baker handed his "in the event of my death" note to a contact. He explained that he was involved with someone who made "Stalin seem easygoing."
Nicole was alarmed to see that EJ had been roughed up by the Kiriakises. EJ revealed that Stefano had been kidnapped and told her that she couldn't talk to any Kiriakises anymore. EJ was torn over what to do to save his father. Nicole told her hubby that she believed in him and urged him to put his legal eagle skills to good use. She headed out to give him time to think. EJ thought back to past conversations he had with his father for inspiration. He took Stefano's portrait off the wall and cut the back of it. He pulled out an envelope. In it was a passport and a list of names and numbers. He called one. Owen, the Kiriakis gardener, picked up.
Sami and Rafe brought Grace to the hospital for a checkup. Nicole arrived with flowers for Dr. B Sami spied Dr. Baker talking to Lexie and was alarmed. She told Rafe to ask Lexie to send the reports on Grace and hurried out. When they got back to the townhouse, Sami panicked that someone would find out about how Dr. B delivered Grace. Rafe assured her he'd take care of it.
At the hospital, Lexie released Dr. Baker. Nicole came in to give him a ride home.
Wednesday
Sami freaked out to Rafe that EJ would find out about Grace with Dr. Baker lurking around. Rafe vowed to take care of it.
At the hospital, Dr. Baker told Nicole to beat it but she wanted to talk about Sami seeing him earlier. She worried that her whole scheme would start to unravel and once again implored him to leave town. He refused, then told her about the letter he wrote in the event of his death that revealed all of her misdeeds. Baker left. Rafe arrived at the hospital looking for the doc. A nurse said he was already gone, but Rafe persuaded her to get information about where the doc was staying.
On the pier, Dr. Baker was on his cell phone, assuring a man named Bobby that he'd have his money soon. Two weapon-wielding thugs approached him, demanding the cash. Rafe came upon the trio and asked what was going on. Baker told Rafe he owed money. Rafe told the guys to take off, then roughed them up. A grateful Baker asked Rafe how he could repay him. Rafe asked the doc to keep quiet about delivering Sami's baby. Dr. B agreed and revealed he was leaving town so the thugs couldn't find him again. "Never coming back," he added.
Sami took Grace to the Java Caf. She went to get hot water for the baby when Nicole came in with Sydney. She said hi to Grace. Sami told her to get away from her daughter. Nicole said she was just keeping the baby company. Sami smirked that she was just trying to make Nicole understand how it felt when Nic told Sami to stay away from Sydney. "So sweet and innocent," snarked Nicole. "But I guess that makes sense considering she's not really your baby." An insulted Sami warned Nicole that she was crossing the line. Nic agreed and apologized. Sami noted that she had a soft spot for Sydney. "Everyone has a soft spot for Sydney. She's a very special baby," Nicole quickly replied. They argued some more. The conversation turned to EJ. "If I wanted EJ in my life, he would be there," Sami insisted. Arianna, who had just arrived, overheard her. Nicole introduced herself and advised Arianna to keep Rafe away from Sami. Nicole left.
EJ called Owen and asked for a meeting. Owen wanted proof that he wasn't being set up. EJ gave him a box number from Stefano's list and Owen agreed to meet him. Once together, Owen explained to EJ that he'd been working at the Kiriakis mansion for two years and gathering information, which he put in the safety deposit box in note form. Owen told EJ about Philip and Stephanie's engagement. EJ asked Owen to do some work beyond intel. Owen told him he wasn't a violent guy. "That may have to change," EJ responded. Owen was reluctant to do what EJ asked, then ultimately agreed.
A blissful Philip wanted Steph to set a wedding date. They got frisky on the patio. After, he had to go to physical therapy and told her to see what he left her in the bedroom closet. She came out onto the patio later in a black negligee and was startled by Owen's arrival. He gave her some lemonade. Her phone rang. She put the lemonade down to run and answer it. Philip came home and was happy to see her in his gift. He picked up the lemonade Owen left for her and put the glass to his lips.
Sami was excited when Rafe came home and told her Baker was leaving town. Dr. Baker called Nicole to share his news. She agreed to wire $15,000 to him in the morning. She hung up and smiled, relieved.
Thursday
Owen panicked when it looked like Philip was going to drink the drugged lemonade. He tried to knock the glass out of Phil's hand, to no avail. He did break a vase, though. Owen's cell phone rang. It was EJ. While Owen's back was turned, Philip drank the lemonade, noting he was very thirsty. He then got dizzy and nearly fell. Stephanie got him into a chair, where he briefly passed out. He came to and Steph was alarmed, but he insisted he was okay.
Nicole was thrilled to have Dr. Baker out of her life. She went into the living room and spied Stefano's portrait was off the wall. EJ said he did it to get the information that was hidden inside. EJ vowed that Stefano wouldn't get any DiMera holdings. Owen called to say that there was a problem with the plan. EJ advised him to fix it and hung up. Nicole saw Stefano's Phoenix ring on EJ and asked him about it. "I am his heir. I am going to do everything I can to protect him," her hubby told her. Nicole found EJ's determination sexy. They started to get busy but she caught a glimpse of Stefano's portrait, then got up to put a blanket over it. She and EJ resumed their makeout session.
Victor sat with an ailing Stefano, noting that EJ hadn't responded to his request and might want all the DiMera holdings for himself.
Melanie and Max had a heart to heart. He was happy she was nowhere involved in the Kiriakis/DiMera war, but she confessed that she gave Philip mouth to mouth at the hospital. He said that was fine as long as there was no fuels project nonsense still going on. She noted that Steph was involved with Philip and she knew Max cared about his ex's well-being.
Melanie went back to the hospital. A nurse asked her to bring flowers to the children's unit. She brought them to the Kiriakis manse instead and gave them to Philip. She was less than thrilled to see Stephanie. Phil revealed that Steph was his fiance. Melanie was surprised. She and Steph headed to the kitchen. Mel warned Steph that she couldn't change Philip. Alone, Philip was feeling the effects of the drugs. Owen helped him into the house. The bodyguard took over and helped Philip inside. Philip overheard Melanie warning Steph about marrying him and asked Carlo the bodyguard to escort Melanie out. "And don't come back," Phil said. Henderson came in with a piece of jewelry. Steph said it was probably Melanie's. Philip was feeling weird and irate from the drugs and went up to bed. Owen appeared and startled Steph.
Bo and Hope had dinner at the Pub. He was distracted by thoughts of the Kiriakis/DiMera war. Victor arrived, after being summoned by Hope. Bo brought up the law, which amused his father, who noted that Bo has always been a renegade. Bo asked what his father was planning, but Vic was mum. Bo said he's take him to the station then. Hope talked to her hubby alone, pointing out that Bo didn't have anything to charge him with. Bo got a call. Hope returned to the table to talk to Victor. She urged her father-in-law to drop everything he was doing. Vic assured her everything would work out. Max brought Ciara downstairs and revealed that they couldn't find Ciara's stuffed animal. Bo had an unsettling vision of seeing it in the woods and told Hope. Max found the bear up in the crib and figured Allie had put it there.
Victor returned to check on Stefano, who warned he wasn't dead yet. Stefano called EJ and told his son that he trusted him with his life. EJ vowed to get him home safely.
Friday
Sami chatted with baby Grace, saying how excited she is that Rafe is going
to talk to Dr. Baker so EJ will never learn the truth. Meanwhile, at the
DiMera manse, EJ said goodnight Johnny before he went to bed. Harold asked
why Stefano's portrait was taken down and surmised Mr. DiMera will be very
upset when he sees it. "He'll be just fine," EJ assured him. Then Sami
called EJ asking about Johnny. EJ explained that their son won't be spending
the night with her tonight, saying that something has come up and it's for
the best. Sami was miffed and demanded a reason but EJ refused to explain
himself and hung up.
Stephanie was startled by Owen, who was lurking outside. Philip approached
and wondered what Owen is up to. He quickly covered, Phil blew it off and
they all bid each other good night. After Phil and Steph went back inside,
Owen wondered why the drugs he gave Phil were taking so long to work. EJ called Owen and asked what's taking so long.
Meanwhile, a woozy Phil started to pour himself another cup of coffee and
confronted Stephanie about what he overheard her tell Melanie. "I
don't think you're happy about marrying me!" he yelled, becoming
increasingly drowsy and slurring his speech. Step was rattled, assured Phil
that she loves him and called Melanie a liar. She implored Phil to get some
rest, but he wouldn't back down and said maybe she shouldn't marry him. Fed
up, Steph yelled, "Maybe I shouldn't!" and stormed out of the room. Phil passed out. Steph went outside, where Owen
grabbed her from behind and stifled her screams.
Maggie informed Melanie that her 12-step group is meeting at their house
tonight and invited her to stick around. Melanie claimed she's going to the
library and ran into Brady on her way out, surprised to learn that he was
there for the meeting. Brady gave her a brief summary of his past struggles
with drugs and alcohol and said that he reminds himself he's an addict when
he gets stressed out about things. Mel brought up Philip's engagement to
Stephanie which was news to Brady. "Philip and Stephanie getting engaged is
enough to turn me into an addict!" Mel cracked and admitted that she still
harbors feelings for Philip and knows that he could never be happy with
Stephanie because she'll never be able to understand the way he lives.
Later, Mel realized she lost her pricy bracelet and went to the pub to
retrieve it.
At Java Café, Will confronted Mia about not calling him and wondered if
they're still friends, explaining that he stayed in Salem because of her.
She said she thought he was mad at her about her being in rehab; he assured
her that he doesn't mind and tried to smooth things over. She agreed they're
on good terms again and thanked him for not judging her, claiming that she
was once addicted to pills. When Mia mentioned she's going to a recovering
addicts meeting, Will asked if he could come along. She hesitated. Will
stopped by home first where Sami was on her way out. Mia offered to babysit
Grace, but Will refused to let her miss her AA meeting. Sami left with Grace
in tow; Will went upstairs for a minute. While Will was gone, Mia went to
Sami's laptop to look up AA meeting locations in Salem on the sly.
Back at the DiMera manse, Sami rang the doorbell and demanded to know what's
going on with EJ, who vaguely explained that he just doesn't want their
son's life to be in danger. After Sami saw Stefano's portrait, she demanded
more answers.
Back at the Horton household, Brady told Maggie she's an inspiration to him.
There was a knock at the door. Maggie was stunned to see Mia and vice versa.
Mia explained she got the address off the Internet and had no idea Maggie
lived there. She also kindly asked Maggie to keep mum about their previous
encounter at Java café to Will who was outside parking the car. Mia was
stressed out by the awkward situation: "God, can this get any worse?" She
came up with an escape plan, then Brady approached and wondered why she's
there and surmised she must've been using drugs while she was pregnant. He
refused to let her leave, saying, "It's only fair to Nicole. Tell me what
you were on and how it affected the baby." Mia promised him that she'd never
harm her baby and has never used drugs and hates alcohol. She was forced to
come clean about lying to Will because she doesn't want him to know the
truth. Except Will walked in and overheard everything.
Melanie couldn't find her bracelet at the pub so she called, Philip who was
barely awake but managed to answer the phone. She inquired about her
bracelet, saying it may have fallen off at his place. She could tell
something was wrong with him and said she's coming over to get the bracelet.
Phil passed out again. Meanwhile, Owen knocked Stephanie out, placed her
body in a big gardening bin and covered it with leaves right as Melanie
arrived at the mansion to get her bracelet from the terrace. Owen covered,
saying a gardener's work is never done and left. On her way out, Mel saw one
of Stephanie's earrings on the patio. Meanwhile, Owen wheeled Stephanie's
body to a morgue and placed her in a compartment.
