Darin Brooks' Five Greatest DAYS

Although far from a daytime vet — the soap newbie has only been a member of the set since 2005 — Darin Brooks (Max) has many fond memories of his three years on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Some are fast and furious; others, slow but sizzling. Here, the actor recalls his five most memorable moments.
COUNTRY COOL

“No. 1 would have to be going to the Nashville Fan Fair event we used to do, the first year I was on the show. It was such fun. We were out there at Titans Stadium, introducing some of the top country bands to 50,000 people. What a wild experience! I was never really into country music. Then I went out there and met a few people who suggested different [artists] to me. I remember somebody told me about Montgomery Gentry, and introduced me to [the duo]. I have very eclectic taste in music. I love all kinds of things. So it was cool, because I really started to get into [country music].”BABY, YOU CAN DRIVE MY CAR

“I loved the whole NASCAR thing and Max being a race-car driver. I actually got hooked up with the guys from the Richard Petty Driving Experience. The driving thing they do: You get to go around the track with a pro. They gave me a full package, which was super-nice of them. They were really cool about it. Chris McKee (director of media relations for the Richard Petty Driving Experience) set it all up. He was a wonderful dude. I actually got to drive the race car by myself. It was at the California Speedway in Fontana. It was a new experience for me and so much fun.” NAKED AND CUFFED

“Being handcuffed in the elevator during the Las Vegas storyline. This girl was getting back at Max for punching out a guy who was touching Stephanie on the airplane earlier. So she got Max naked and acted like she wanted to have sex with him. Then she handcuffed him to one of the rails in the elevator, took his clothes, and left. All these other ladies were coming onto the elevator, while Max was just standing there naked. It was a fun little scene, and I had to stay there handcuffed to the elevator in between takes. And, of course, I was wearing that flesh-colored underwear they make you wear when you’re supposed to be naked. When we were taping it, there were visions going through my head. I kept thinking of Michael J. Fox in The Secret of My Success. Remember the scene where he’s chained to the elevator? His assistant is standing outside, and when the door opens, he’s flashing his muscles. That’s totally what I was thinking about.”DADDY NOT-SO-DEAREST

“I really enjoyed all the stuff with Trent. It was well-written and fun to play. In the three years I’ve been here, I’d never had anything that meaty to do before [this]. Roscoe Born (ex-Trent) is a wonderful actor and such a cool dude. I was sad to see him go. I didn’t understand it. I guess that’s business. Roscoe was a great addition to the cast, and I loved working with him. I remember doing those scenes with him where Max talked to Trent about his mother and asked why Trent left him. Those scenes were very rich. It was something to do other than saving the day all the time. It was about Max’s past and what makes Max, Max.”FEEL LIKE MAKING LOVE

“The Max and Stephanie romance has definitely been a highlight. Particularly when the characters finally made love. Those scenes were good and they were shot really well. That whole slow-motion lovemaking was kind of cool. Max and Stephanie are a nice young couple, and Shelley Hennig is a sweetheart to work with. It will be interesting to see different avenues of their relationship develop.”
