WIth all due respect, this had to be the WORST most UNINSPIRING Christmas show EVER...and I have spent many years watching AMC Christmas shows.

Let's see..we have Amanda trying to ruin JR's life..for $5 million dollars. Amanda and Babe were best friends..but oh well. If JR becomes a drunk again, LIttle A will lose two parents..no biggie.

David and Krystal...he has been drugging her and wants her to commit adultery...and sees nothing wrong with is. I should be grateful that it was shown to be a bad thing. At least, David is a villain, he has an excuse.

Greenlee and Ryan have no excuse and they COMMITT adultery..and though I don't care for Greenlee, at least she had the good sense to realize that it was a bad thing before the showw as over.

Ryan in his..the world owes me..mode sees nothing wrong with comforting his daughter about her mother being stuck in a mental hospital and then jumping into bed with another woman ten minutes later. I love seeing adultery on Christmas Eve with twinkly romantic music playing in the background. Warms my heart.

He does however feel he is entitled to jump all over the psychiatrist taking care of his wife...for possibly making a mistake. God knows, Ryan has never made one himself.

And Annie, I have no idea what game Aidan is playing..and what Annie is doing either but neither character gave me any Christmas hope or magic.

And then we have Bianca bubbly and excited about giving the love of her life an engagement ring..but seems to have forgotten that she has a sister who is DYING. OH yeah, she asked Zach how she was and was told no change. Ok, oh well, no big deal, let's go back to the celebration.

I loved seeing Kendall ..for 60 seconds. I loved Zach knowing that he didn't need to go to the hospital, as Kendall's spirit was there. OK, that was about 2 minutes of the show.

The rest was a huge depressing mess.

Merry Christmas to you too AMC.

One of the biggest letdowns I can remember. I was so looking forward to Kendall's "visit" home. It was way too short.

Meanwhile, we get adultery, a recovering alcoholic hitting the bottle, a mother melting down and destroying her xmas tree and burning the house down, an overdose, Ryan in the face of a doctor. So much for the warm fuzzies. Bah! Humbug! I remember when soaps gave us warm family moments at the holidays. These people have no idea what fans want to see.

They only know what we don't want to see and they just keep giving it to us in full force! But like I said before in another thread...it's like they have no clue what to do with the show until Alicia Minshew returns.

ITA with all of the above...How Sad!!!I remember the days when tuning into AMC for X-Mas brought a sense of joy, peace, contentment, and happiness, if only for that one day.....Unfortunately, those days are gone, alone with well-written stories, characters you love, love to hate, and actually recognize..I tuned in to see AM/Kendall because I've missed her so much and missed those great Zen/Team Slater scenes, but low and behold, they had to shove Reeks in the middle of them..Maybe it's just my deep resentment and disgust of these two useless characters, but was it really necessary to have Reeks sinking up the short Slater Family scenes...They could have and should have given ER/TB the day off... JMHO..Not to mention, the rest of the sad, dark, depressing crap...The Rylee love fest was sickening and a total waste of airtime, but what's new...Krystal's breakdown has been going on far too long.....Amanda getting JR to hit the bottle... and Annie OD's.... What X-Mas spirit you have Mr. Pratt..Wouldn't it have been nice to see Zach and the boys thinking about Kendall or Zach falling asleep with his boys to dream of Kendall, and a happy X-Mas, then have him wake up with even more renewed hope that she will survive....but no we get robbed again...Although, AM, TK, and the kids were great....the scenes we too cut up, too short, and too much Reeks...Wouldn't it have been nice to see Joe, Ruth, Jake, Tad, and all the Martins sitting around the tree like the days of old..Erica celebrating with her family with a message of hope...No Christmas miracles... No rays of hope (and I'm not talking about the sperm donation), just hope.... No peace, love, happiness..Nope, Chuck Pratt, Brian Frons, and JHC think that X-Mas is a time to showcase:* Adultry... Ryan sending Emma off to a sitter so that he can have sex with GL, while his wife OD's in the night house Kyrstal barely able to keep her hands off David, all the while tearing the house apart...* Alcoholism: Amanda trying to get off the wagon for 5 million....* Accidental Suicide: Annie OD's at the moment her husband cheats on her and her poor daughter is shipped off to Opal for X-Mas...* Groundbreaking story that never was: BB gives Reese an engagment ring with no thought to her dying sister except to blow it off after asking Zach....Sorry, but AMC Christmas Show missed the mark...SO much for Love, Peace, Joy, & Hope....We get dark, dreary, depressing and the only ray of hope is tainted by the presence of two useless characters.....Sorry, but I give AMC X-Mas show a thumbs down...

Well said!

Not to mention how choppy and disjointed that episode was as well. Plus they cut the scene of Kendall putting her hand on Zach's shoulder that Alicia talked about in her interview

Silly me. I actually tuned in on Friday. After I complained about Tuesday's show, I figured maybe the actual Christmas show for AMC would be Friday, and not Tuesday and I jumped the gun in my complaints. Sadly, Friday was more depressing and immoral than Tuesday. David thrilled that JR fell off the wagon, Krystal falling more into David's trap, Annie losing it again, don't even get me started on the travesty of Ryan and Greenlee's adulterous affair. I expected Father Clarence and I got imorality heaped on more imorality.I don't get it. GH and OLTL all had holiday shows. Some parts were used to forward the plot, others were just stand alone episode segments but the overall theme of these shows were family, humor, hope, celebration and love. There were even Chunukah celebrations on both OLTL and GH mixed with Christmas celebrations..to honor more viewer's holidays. From AMC, we got coal in our stockings. Instead of holiday cheer, we got the joy of watching people fall apart and a close up of Cam Mathison's nipple .Frankly, after this past week, Charles Pratt has made both the Grinch and Scrooge look like Mary Poppins by comparison.

I was shocked by the "Christmas" show. I guess we were supposed to be thrilled by Kendall's visit. Sorry, it did nothing for me but make me want Kendall back so she can kick Reese and Bianca out of her house. I hated seeing Reese and Bianca holding the boys, neither one of them give a rip about Kendall. It would have been much better to have Zach dreaming of how Christmas should have been - with Kendall awake and spending time with the boys. Very few members of the cast were even included in the shows. I wonder where Erica was. Are we to belive that both Ryan and Krystal left their children with Opal all of Christmas Eve? Shouldn't Opal and the Martin's be most concerned for Tad and Jamie? They dumped the kids off with a woman who's grandson is missing. What should be expect, I don't thing they had a Thanksgiving show either.

Kathy, I gather that New Year's Eve is going to be not much better, because Pratt decided that Zach forgets that it is NYE, a landmark event in 2005 when Zach and Kendall declared their love for each other and instead of ringing in the New Year with the love of his life, Kendall, he rings it in by sharing a "friendly" kiss with Reese. According to TB/Reese who needed to explain in an interview in SOW, that it is all about causing angst for her relationship with Bianca, who wrongly suspects that their is an affair going on between her and Zach. Meanwhile Kendall is left alone in the hospital with her life slowly fading.I cry foul on Pratt. Zach would never have forgotten NYE. Zach would never have spent NYE with anyone except Kendall and most certainly would not have shared a kiss, friendly or not, with another woman. What a slap in the face to Zendall fans and other members of the audience who love this couple. Why couldn't AMC show a flashback of the 2005 NYE scene when Zach and Kendall became a couple? It was one of the most memorable and beloved scenes in their relationship history. How terrible when an actress has to explain in an interview to prevent a scene from being misunderstood by the audience. Zach has been nothing but passionate about his love and devotion to Kendall in his conversations with Reese. It would have been in character for Zach to ring in the New Year with Kendall considering her condition and his renewed hope that Myrtle left him about being patient? Why if they needed to create angst for Reese and Bianca could another date not have been chosen? The intent is quite clear... another attempt not to give fans what they want and keep the OOC doom and gloom in this already failing s/l.

ITA, Diva. When Zach received Myrtle's gift, his first thought was to go to the hospital and open the gift with Kendall--because Myrt was one of their biggest fans. So now we are to believe that on NYE, one of the most iconic nights of their lives--and as you say, a night that means so much to Zendall fans, his first thought is not to go spend it at Kendall's side. I don't buy it. I don't know why Pratt can't have any respect for the feelings of the fans and for the characters that the actors have so carefully built.

Maggie, not only does he not have any respect for the feelings of fans or character history...IMO he has no concept of love and romance, only sex, lust and betrayal. Are we supposed to root for a couple like Rylee when they are both committing adultery on NYE? Are we supposed to root for Reeks, who are selfish, confused, do not trust each other, keep secrets and disrespected another woman's marriage? Are we supposed to root for Krystal and David....one who is betraying her missing husband and another who is drugging her to get revenge? Are we supposed to root for Angie and Jessie who has kept a big secret from Angie and has brought pain and confusion into their lives? There is no couple on the show other than Zendall that is worth rooting for and Pratt has been systematically dismantelling all their iconic hopes and moments by inserting pathetic Reeks into their lives.AMC has become a show of doom and gloom. Characters that I have been familiar with for years, who have been beautifully developed by the actors that portray them are now doing things that are making them unrecognizable while new characters are brought on without proper background or development and I just don't care for them at all.I was actually looking forward to the lesbian love story, but now with all the unnecessary OOC decimation that has been piled on this supposed ground breaking story, I just want Reese, Bianca and their bundle of betrayal dead and gone out of Zach and Kendall's lives. I cry foul on the whole s/l and am beginning to suspect that Pratt and Co. had no intention of developing this gay relationship story, but use it to launch something else.

JR swigging down the liquor, what a wonderful Xmas memory that one will make.Saddest most unexplainable thing was Kyrstal, does anyone honestly think the Martin's would've left her alone, even if she claimed thats what she wanted? Nope, not in the world Grandma Kate left behind, that was the one thing I've always looked forward to, the continuation of family values, particularly at Xmas the Martin's have been known for, since day 1 of this soap. My logic tells me the Martin's would've circled the wagons around Krystal, so fast, there would've been dust blowing.

Kathy and Diva you make excellent points. Christmas time and Thanksgiving were always days of such joy on AMC and all the ABC soaps. Ryans Hope at Christmas time was pure joy with family oriented fare with Maeve and Johnny and their children around them celebrating the holidays. Maeve singing Danny Boy on St. Patrick's day. AMC celebrating Christmas with Phoebe and Linc and Kelly. NYE at the Valley Inn. The wonderful childrens' party at GH with the ever gentlemanly and paternal late John Beradino, Dr Hardy, sitting on Santa's throne reading the Christmas story to all the sick children of GH was magical. NYE at the Outback or Port Charles Hotel. Zach and Kendall at the casino's gazebo. A beautiful memory for Zach that even he mentioned when he asked Kendall during the one night stand reveal what memory should he throw out to make room for the horrendous thought of her and Aiden together. Zach should have been in the gazebo with two champange glasses like he was with bloody Mary's when he heard of Myrtle's death, something I am sure Pratt did not think of. We got none of this, we got scrooged. Instead we get no Christmas celebration, Zach at home with the bundle of betrayal on NYE, while the sperm poachers were happily kissing totally oblivious to the fact that Zach's wife's life is slowly ebbing away. Why didn't Zach kiss his boys goodnight and wish for them a happier New Year than last and with the promise he would do all he could to bring their mommy home? Why weren't Erica and Adam at the Valley Inn all dressed in formal wear? Why wasn't Jack there longingly looking at Erica? Where is the elegance that once graced this show? I won't go into all the black and depressing things that Pratt wrote for the hoildays because all of his writing is black and deprssing . His decimation of beloved characters, and his penchant to bring in new characters and drop them in the middle of the show and place them front and center without rhyme or reason, is revolting.Mr. Pratt may be a creative and talented writer, but not for AMC. He is writing AMC's Armegeddon. Mr. Grinch, er Pratt why did you steal our Christams? And for that matter what have you done with AMC?

With all the "warmth, family and love" we got on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, I don't even want to think of Valentine's Day....who else can we trash on that special day?
