How can the writers lose Craig, Gwen, Will and now Lily?????????????? What are they thinking???
I have to tell you, I have never posted on a website or written to a soap, but this has pushed me over the edge! I started watching ATWT when I was a teen because of the Lily/Holden/Dusty triangle and have grown up along with them. Now Dusty is dead and Martha Byrne (the only person who CAN play Lily in my eyes) is leaving....not to mention the loss of Scott Bryce, Jesse Sofer and Jennifer Landon....I don't know how much longer I can continue to watch. TPTB need to stop and think hard about what they are doing!! Please ATWT, work something out with Martha, don't lose one of the best actresses you have, you've already lost enough lately!
I wouldn't be so upset about my faves leaving (Dusty Aaron ) this show if I knew who we were getting in return.
Like are we going to get some loving for lucinda? Are we gonna get any more sinders coming back to the farm?(Seth..my one true love ) Is Mike really coming back? Can we get a real wedding between two people that are really in love? And can we get a really good Stenbeck story? And as always bring on some hoties and hunks!!
I have been watching ATWT for over 40 years and I am soooo upset that Lily is leaving. How could they let her go? She has been the main reason I watch the show (along with Holden, Lucinda, Emily, Jack and Carly). Please, please, please don't let her go!!!
I can't imagine Lilly leaving ATWT. She is so much one of the reasons I watch the show. If the writers continue to let such important actors go I may not continue to watch ATWT. Sorry.
I'm pretty much done with ATWT. Like everyone else has said before me, letting Rosanna, Craig, Gwen, Will, Dusty, and now Lily go is just too much. From everything I have been reading on all the soap websites, there is not one person who is happy that Martha is leaving. It seems to me that CBS and P&G are trying to get rid of soaps on daytime TV. Does anyone who watched soaps care about the NCAA basketball tournament? Maybe a few, but not the majority I'll bet. So they preempt are shows, they fire actors we all love, they let one of the best actors on daytime get away. They just don't care. So I think I am giving up and going back to ABC to watch their soaps!! As sad as it makes me!!
The actors who play Will and Gwen wanted to leave. If they want to leave, there's really nothing the show can do about it. It's been known for quite some time that they both have wanted to do other things...
Lets don't forget that Barbara will die of oral cancer, question is when.
I agree. ATWT used to be my favorite soap....that is quickly changing. Lily is such an important part of that show...and not just the characater but also the actor...there is no real Lily without Martha. Shame on the powers that be at ATWT. I hope whatever your thoughts are you wake up soon because you are ruining the show. The killing of Dusty was a huge mistake as well. Most of my time watching this show is spent fast forwarding these days....Wake Up!!!
I have been FF'ing through most of the show anyway.

I'm quite sure she does not die. CZP mentioned in an interview not long ago that this will be an ongoing story about Barbara LIVING with cancer. She wasn't sure how much of the treatment we would see but rather more about how it affects her long term. Barbara is going anywhere.
I've watched the show since the mid-80's. I'm pretty much done. The wrting hasn't made a lot of sense for years. Characters have been sent off in directions that make no sense but I stuck it out for the acting. And I was even wildly hopeful when Scott Bryce came back. HA! There isn't anyone left that I enjoy. I like Maura West but I don't like Carly anymore.......and Jack was sort of ruined awhile ago. I can't help but believe that this is all going to spell big trouble for the show.
I agree. The show used to be focused around the Stewart's, Hughes and Snyder families. There used to be holiday's with the Hughes and Stewart families but this is no more. Also, the 4th of July was spent at the Hughes' as well but not any more. The heart of the show is gone. I heard they were going to make Sophie like Paul's long lost daughter which would make him a grandfather or his half-sister. Ridiculous! Meg wanted Paul back when she thought he was dead and now he is alive she does not want him anymore. Goes back and forth. The shows is missing a lot of main character's like John and Andy Dixon, Dee and Annie Stewart, Frannie and Sabrina Hughes, and now Martha Byrne and Scott Bryce. The exec. producer and head writer's of the show need to be let go. The show is losing lot of fans because of the week stories. My gosh, Katie and Brad have been going on for months. When will this end. Either put them together and move on or not. Katie left Simon and got with Mike. Then Simon returned and screwed things up.Now she is going to be with Brad and now they bring back Mike back. Just a vicious cycle. Move on already! They killed Dusty and Jennifer off which are main character's. BIG MISTAKE! They lost Will and Gwen because they did not like the storyline's they had going and just wanted to pursue other things. I have watched the show for 35 years and I have never seen it so bad. I will just pray that something happens and changes are made for the better. I would have like to see Craig and the original Sierra return. This would boost the ratings.
Quote: They lost Will and Gwen because they did not like the storyline's they had going and just wanted to pursue other things. Actually not true. It had nothing to do with their story. Jen herself has said she knew when she signed her original contract she would leave when it was up. The young actors always leave to try other things. I can't think of any in their early 20's that have stayed past their original contracts except for Van who just renewed his and we don't even know how long he renewed for. Even Martha left the show and later returned. I blame the show for Scott and Martha leaving but not for any of the others. A lot of actors want to pursue prime time, movies or theater. The biggest problem is the story telling. Bringing back characters from the 80's isn't the answer as a lot of viewers are not familiar with them and without good stories, wouldn't care about them either. The number one thing the show needs is a change in the writing.

Are they thinking at all?
