I know it's kind of early to start complaining about the carnival, but...Okay, they've hyped up the thing with Edward getting dosed with the digitalis & he's supposedly going to plow his car into a crowd of mostly children, when he suffers his heart attack. How much more obvious could they be in the setup. Monica was worrying about him & fussing over him right after he got a clean bill of health from her trusted colleague, but she wasn't so worried she cancelled her trip. Then there's all his drinking & Andrea's constant & very visible attempts to dose his drinks. Not to mention Robin's concern for his safety & Patrick laughing at her, saying Andrea wasn't going to bludgeon him in a room full of people. Does that man read medical journals or murder mysteries? Doesn't he realize that people use poison as a weapon? And, again, like Monica, Robin's not so worried that she stops playing around & looks for Edward to warn him. Even when she sees him with his girlfriend, she's not too worried to interrupt their date, even though Andrea's also there.
Now, we also have the gunmen, who are presumably going to the carnival to murder innocent people so, once again, everyone in town can blame Sonny. The fact that Sonny is never the agressor in these situations is irrelevant. Then there's the coming attractions that indicate all the children go missing? Where are they? Who has them? And why do these things always happen to children on this show? This plus Edward's coronary equals OVERKILL!!!
The carnival is not a total disaster, though. There's been some great scenes. It's wonderful to see Sonny just out for the day with his kids, having fun. So, of course, the writers have to taint that. If Sonny smiles, or heaven forbid, laughs once in an episode, you can just bet he's about to be hit in the face with tragedy.
Back to the good stuff. Dante & Lulu's flirting is adorable. It's nice to see her flustered in a good way, for a change. They have terrific chemistry. It's also amusing to see how obvious it is that Dante's Sonny's son. He has so many of Sonny's mannerisms. The crossing himself & the arrogant swagger, not to mention the good sense of self deprecating humor. I'm just wondering when Carly's going to tell Olivia she figured it out already. If she hasn't, she will when Liv's falling apart over "Dominic" being hit by the car.
The "dunk a hunk" was adorable, too. Little Molly is a keeper. That little girl is a good actress.

Lastly, the scene with Spinelli & Sonny was worth the stupidity of him being dressed as a clown. The fact that it was him who made Sonny laugh was priceless, mainly because Spinelli's face broke into a wide grin at the thought that he made Sonny happy.
So far, I'm not impressed with their "big event". I guess it's wait & see. As for someone from one of the families dying, I really hope it's not one of the children. I'm tired of them maiming & torturing children on this show.
That may be true, but the others don't deserve it & neither do any of the children.
The Dunk-a-Hunk was lame - no hunks! Great that Molly was the only one who could dunk them though.I thought that is was great that Spinelli made Sonny laugh dressed up as a clown.Right now, I think the person who dies is either going to be Kristina, Edward or someone totally insignificant. The previews show the parents shouting for Jake, Molly and Morgan which means it probably isn't going to be one of them. The fortune teller told Kristina that she was in danger, so unless Carly...um, Claudia is going to toss her out of the ferris wheel, it's probably going to be her. Ohhh, maybe Claudia will take the hit for Kristina, maybe it's Claudia!
The cover of this weeks SOD has the answer to who diesSPOILER ALERTIt's Andrea Floyd..
Oh thank goodness, I had a bad feeling it was going to be one of Elizabeths babies!
As Angel said.. someone insignificant.
I read SOD and yes it mentioned that Andrea will meet her demise; however, it does state in the article that she is not the only one who doesn't make it.I'm thinking Keifer? Off the carnival subject for a minute. I would like to see a scene every now and then between Sonny and Robin. It's been far too long since they have appeared in a scene alone together. They were both at the dunk a hunk but that is not enough. I like the dynamic between Sonny and Robin.JMO
Kiefer would be a good one to off. "Dominic" and Olivia are both on the cover- does that mean their secrets are exposed? I've got to get to a newstand today!
Quote:I read SOD and yes it mentioned that Andrea will meet her demise; however, it does state in the article that she is not the only one who doesn't make it.I'll have to reread the article, I missed that,. I just remembered that there were lots of critically injured, like Dante.I doubt it would be Keifer. Only because he has to slam Kristina around more before somebody beats the hell out of him. It would be no fun if he got killed in a tragic accident. Maybe Claudia will take him on, and maybe she can start to look more sympathetic instead of pathetic. I'm trying to think of someone else insignificant enough to not matter a whole lot. Or maybe little Spencer, he's never shown interacting with Nikolas anyway. It would give Nikolas something else to feel guilty about.
I really, really think it will be Cam or Jake. If it is I will never watch again. I am soooooooooooo tired of miscarriages, and the deaths of kids. And it will probably be Jake. Killed by his own grandpa. TPTB- please NO!
I totally agree with every word you said. I, too, am tired of them killing babies. Yes, miscarriages have been a plot device on soaps since they were allowed to use the word on tv, but they weren't an every other week event like they are now. And on the rare occasion when a child was killed, it was for a purpose in the story, like BJ's death. That was about educating people about organ donation. Just randomly killing children for no purpose beyond gaining an award is stupid. What they did to Michael was stupid & pointless. We already knew Maurice Benard & Laura Wright were terrific actors. And in this case, anyone who's watched the show longer that 6 months, knows what an excellent crier Rebecca Herbst is. The only woman on there who's a better crier is LW. And, Steve Burton turns even the most ridiculous story into gold & as far as the male weepers on that show, he's the best! They don't need to kill his son. It's bad enough he can't raise him. Let him grow up to be what Jason was meant to be--a doctor. As for Edward being the reason, I think that's a hideous idea. That poor old man would die if he found out a child was hurt or killed because of him & then, to find out that child was his great-grandson, he'd give up. They never take cause & effect into consideration when they write these stories. How a given character would react to things. Liz is strong so she'd survive losing her child. Jason would probably go back to his "I don't give a damn" attitude about his life & Edward would not survive. For all his grumpy old man antics, Edward lives for his family. His children & grandchildren are his life. The idea that he accidently killed Jason's son would be too much for him to bear. The writers need to start thinking about how characters would react in given scenarios they're thinking of writing. Claudia's a prime example. They claim they want SB to stay, yet they keep writing Claudia into a deeper & deeper hole with no way out. If they thought the story through to the end when they were plotting it, maybe they wouldn't be in the mess they are in right now.
I have reread the article and can't find where anyone besides Andrea Floyd is supposed to die. It says "Andrea is not the only person mowed down in the chaos" and starts talking about other people injured, like Dante and Jake but not killed. I agree, Edward could not take being responsible for any childs death. However Andrea's, especially after Robin finds the digitalis amongst her things, that is a different story.
I dont buy the magazine, is that where it was? Or is it somewhere on this website? Would like to read it.
It was in the magazine. There was a whole article on the Carnival and some of the reprecussions.
I have to say, in watching the show today, I do love the irony of Andrea dying at the hands of the man she poisoned. All the innocent people hurt, not so much. I just hope she lives long enough to find out she was injured because of the heart attack she caused. Also, while I don't want anything too serious to happen to Johnny, I love the irony of it happening at his father's hand. Let the old nutjob find out his son was a victim. Pull one of Sonny's tricks & fake Johnny's death to get Anthony. That would make it worth watching. And, while it was completely inappropriate & totally out of character, I got a little chuckle out of Jason's frustration leading him to pull his gun. But, like I said, it's something Jason would never do. Again, it goes back to what I said before. Characters acting out of character. He'd never pull a gun for a stupid reason like that, especially where there were children present.
100% agree about Jason, while it was entertaining when he pulled the gun, it's not something Jason would do. When he made the coment that he's never missed that many times... I think he needs to re-call just a few weeks ago when he shot at Jerry over & over & over.....& missed. Something that is makiing me a little nutty is ( I know it's dumb) Lulu wearing a dress. Who wears a cute dress to a (dirty) carnival? I do like how she is looking much better, but she was always cute...anyway the girl needs to put on a cute top with jeans or capri's.One more thing... I wish the audio folks would have done a better clean up. I have a hard time hearing the lines with the music. Yes its a loud place but I want to hear the lines. I found myself having to turn the volume up to hear, but that just made the music louder.Ok I am going to say something nice about Sonny.I like Uncle Sonny. I have wondered about him & Molly. Molly being his niece & Sonny being a family man & this girl being his kids sister & cousin...but Rick & Sonny hating each other...anyway I have wondered how that would work & I am so ....pleased to see how sweet he is with her. Something I am hoping doesn't happen but with age I know it's bound to one day is Edward passing away.... Dear powers that be at GH, please if & when Edward passing on to be with his dear Lila, please do it with dignity. Not tacky not a crash or in some womens bed...this man is beloved by many & he's been a wonderful character for many years. He will deserve a good send off.... sorry but the crash had me thinking about that last night.
My sister wore a cute little dress to a carnival when we were young, to try to impress a certian boy. But when he asked her to go on a ride she couldn't, because of said dress. He asked someone else. Needless to say her plan backfired BIGTIME! She also went on a horseback riding date once wearing shorts! Harsh rash after that one. Goofy girl!
Jeez I feel the pain....shorts & saddles do not mix, even bareback is uncomfy.
True about Jason, but it was funny as hell!
I have to say though, I know Michael is working on his anger issues but I was hoping he would rip Keifer's arm out the socket when he pulled K away. Ooh, I hate that, K. Her name is Kristina. Am I letting my age show?
I don't think your letting your age show...The "K" thing is getting on my nerves along with that punk.
I was hoping '"AngerBoy, Jr." would take over too! The K stuff is about disrespect. I still wish Sonny had ripped his tongue out when he called her that in front of him. She probably thinks it's cute, but what these girls don't realize is that it's not cute, it's impersonal & demoralizing. If he wanted to call her something cutesy, why not Krissy? Because he doesn't have enough respect for her to do it. It's probably him that has Kristina. I really want it to be Claudia that gives him the a** kicking he deserves. Nice & humiliating. Tell him if he likes hitting girls so much, why doesn't he hit her? Then, do to him what she did to that mob boss when she had that first meeting of the 5 families. And, make sure Michael's there to watch.
So the promos show Elizabeth and Nikolas getting busy. Does this mean Elizabeth is going to be pregnant with yet another baby that's not Lucky's?Spoiler Alert.I have read that Liz and Lucky get remarried at Jake's bedside. Don't know if it's true, but if so, and she does get pregnant by Nik EEWWWW
I was actually intrigued by the episode. I'm waiting to see how they're gonna handle the Andrea situation. Mac opened her purse, there was no digitalis in there. So I wonder how its gonna come out that she was behind everything.
I distinctly remember her shoving the dig into her blouse/bra at the bar, because I thought that was funny and unusual for a soap. It's probably on her skin or there's glass chards......I was surprised to see her laying on the morgue table - apparently topless! I was really disappointed I came in so late in the Martha-Byrne's-on-GH game. From what little I've seen on youtube and the show, she was really good. Too bad she didn't stick around longer.Yesterday's show was a real tearjerker - especially the Jason/Jake scenes. I totally wasn't prepared to be crying! I hated seeing Elizabeth getting busy with Nikolas - really?! Can't we find her someone else on the canvas to do it with or fall in love with?
As great as the chemistry between her & Nik is, all a romance between them will be is a plot device used to alienate him from Lucky, giving Lucky reason to join Ethan against Nikolas. Then, there will be Spencer/Cassadine War: The Next Generation. That just doesn't interest me.
Am I crazy or were the writer's doing a little tongue in cheek with Edward Q's friend? Her boss that was investigating her was Drake Black (Drake Hogestyn played John Black on DOOL) and she is Deidre Evans ( Deidre Hall played Marlena Evans on DOOL).
Hey Indeed, what have I messed? Are they on GH now? I haven't seen them, but now that I work 2 jobs I miss alot.
That went right over my head, and I used to watch DAYS! Deidre did look familiar though - has she and Edward have a thing in the past?
Final thoughts on the Carnival:
1. Molly's freak-out was really good! It made me cry.
2. I loved seeing Jason conflicted about the Jake/Edward situation. I feel like we're seeing Jason grow as a human being. I really hope there's a Emmy in Steve Burton's future next year.
3. Nikolas & Spencer have ZERO chemistry. You'd never know they were father and son unless they mention it. They just don't interact like family, or interact period. They just stand next to each other! Spencer is going to grow up to be one messed up person!
4. I've never seen or heard of the Kite Flyer ride, but that looked scary. Compound that with the fact it didn't have metal baricades around it like normal carnivals do, and you'd never get me on it!
5. So The Organization doesn't offer health insurance? Sonny & Jason's Goons only get their hospital bills paid if they save an important life? Who's paying for Max's stay? Sonny & Jason didn't even know he was there, or visit him! Not very good bosses!
6. I almost forgot the most important thing of all......The woman who played the Fortune Teller was freakin' awesome! Let's get her a regular contract on the show!
Sonny pays all his employees' medical bills. At least, he used to, but the economy has hit the mob too, so who knows? I agree with all of it. That ride was awful. My back hurt, watching that. But, I think Kristina's indestructible Cassadine genes kicked in. She was buried under a ton of heavy debris & no one could find her, yet within hours, she was fine. Not a scratch & walking around like nothing happened.Nikolas' relationship with Spencer is pathetic. For all his whining when Courtney died about wishing that kid was his & how much fuss he made, taking him away from Jax, who'd turned his life upside down to be a father to him, he's spent zero time with him since he got custody of him. He uses his grandmother as the excuse. If he really cared about that kid, he'd actually spend time with him. Dragging him around from place to place & handing him off to someone else is not spending time with him.I loved that Fortune Teller. She should be on a recurring basis now, especially after she ID'd Michael has having the same gift/curse as her. She could mentor him & he could use his abilities to help Sam & Spin.
OK, I am back from my vacay, and am caught up on what my DVR recorded. One thing about the Carnival story that bugged me, is when did Edward get a girlfriend? I don't recall hearing tale of that previously? Can anyone fill me in?I did think it was cool how Ethan adn Nikolas carried Edward over the crowd. I am prtty impressed by how Ethan is "cleaning" himself up at least physically. Lulu and Dante/Dominc are great. Hot new couple I hope.I too am disliking the whole"k" thing. I am also not liking Claudia callingher "Krissy" however it is more appropriate.Overall I enjoyed the Carnival. One reason, it wasn't all about the mob or the hospitable but characters actually living thier lives and having a greta time in (OMG) the outdoors!! I don't ever count the park scenes because too me they are still very dark, show some sun!!
I agree. They need more outdoor scenes, with sun. The only set on there that isn't gloomy is the hospital. Even in Carly & Jax's house, the lighting is too subdued. This is the first I'd heard of Edward having a girlfriend, although it didn't surprise me. I'm happy for him. But, why the mystery? She isn't married & he's a widdower. It's not like anyone in his family is going to be shocked.I agree that it's nice to see Ethan making an effort. If he shaved, it would help as well. I also like how having a family has given him a little bit of morality & helped him to learn the difference between right & wrong. I just wish he wouldn't waste time trying to warn Rebecca. A woman in love rarely listens to anyone, least of all, the guy she dumped for the current boyfriend. The more sensible approach is what he did today. He went to Lucky. The only way to protect Rebecca from Nikolas is to go to someone he might listen to. Actually, ironically, the only person I think who can convince Nikolas to stop this, is Laura. I think she's the only one who can make him realize he's wrong. I don't even think Liz could get through to him.
Overall, I was pleased with The Carnival scenes. I think this worked better than the last huge cast scenes because they didn't drag them out for a week or two. And it made sense. A benefit carnival for the Michael Corinthos Foundation. They didn't have to bring in FBI Agents or biotoxins or runaway trains. I actually found myself wanting to watch that day instead of waiting for the Sunday block on SoapNet.I do however, think it was an easy way out on wrapping up the Andrea Floyd storyline but maybe Martha Bryne had other commitments.
None of the kids gets killed. It is Andrea. The repercussions that are mentioned in SOD have to deal with the fallout of the carnival. Michael remembering conversations that Claudia and Jax had during his time in the coma. Keifer showing more of his abusive side. Sam and Jason growing closer. Liz and Nikloas growing closer. Olivia thinking she has to tell her secret. Edward's guilt over the crash in the first place.I think the carnival is a great storyline. It encompassed the whole cast. You don't see that anymore especially in today's economy. It also looked like everyone was having a really great time.Martha Byrne signed on for only 6 months. She was commuting between LA and NY.
I completely enjoyed the Carnival. Every day the show started out with a tasteful recap of not only the previous day's show, but mixed in the past week of shows to catch up viewers; all with, what I thought was great music. As for Monday's show I was kinda hoping still, to see Max. At least I know what happened to John and Spinelli; loved how he warned Spinelli of Claudia, and told him to "protect and tell Olivia he loves her". I have some not so nice comments on Claudia slapping Spinelli; let's just say I didn't think it was appropriate (can that woman ever just say "thanks"). Spinelli and John being able to warn Jason of Claudia was a nice surprise for viewers . JMO
Claudia needs to be more than slapped. Someone needs to just punch her out. She was so totally out of control yesterday that it was ridiculous. Too bad Olivia didn't clean her clock.Olivia was phenomenal through the Carnival storyline. Both of the men closest to her could have died and she had to deal with Claudia on top of everything else.Sonny didn't seem too happy with the way Olivia greeted Johnny in the hospital. He's still so convinced that Olivia can't live without him. I find it interesting that he's going to ask Dominic to take Johnny out, but lets his "wife" live. Claudia is back to being below the bottom of the food chain.Really don't like the Elizabeth, Nicolas and Lucky triangle. Don't like Elizabeth and Nicolas together and am not happy that once again Lucky is going to be hurt. This time by two of the closest people to him. Does this mean that Elizabeth will be party to Nicolas' plan to take Rebecca down. That is just sick. These are now FFwd moments.
I agree about Lucky. I wish they would give him a good story & find him a good woman & maybe even give him a kid of his own. I don't care if Liz & Nic get together, just don't hurt Lucky. Sadly I know they are going to but this time instead of turning him to drugs, how about pulling some Spencer out of him.
Maybe Ethan will finally prove to be worthwhile by helping the Spencer come out in Lucky. This is what Lucky needs. He blew off what Ethan said to him, even though he knew Ethan was sincere & that's the mistake that's going to blind him to the change in Nik's personality. And, that will lead to either the inevitable of Lucky walking in on Liz & Nik together or Liz being pregnant & once again, not knowing who the father is. I think when Lucky gets smacked in the face with the truth, Ethan may be the person who stops him from plunging into that abyss of drugs & other stupid behavior & get him to focus on what he can do about it & together, they'll either get rid of Nik or figure out a way to snap Nik out of this before he goes too far.
I finally caught up on the carnival scenes as well. I like it, and it was refreshing to see count Sonny in the sunlight. The studio lights hide the fact that father time is marching right across some of the actors' faces, tho!I didn't believe for on minute that anyone 'good' was going to die. And the fact that they had the carnival in the hospital parking lot would have been a good reason to trot out Boobie...er Bobbie. The only reason someone of signifigance dies is when Guza can't figure out how to write for them. Tony Jones, anyone? thought the fallout was good. but they are takng Claudia too dark again. But since GH won best writing somehow, nothing will change. How did that happen?? There's got to be a money trail somewhere....
Quote:Claudia needs to be more than slapped. Someone needs to just punch her out. She was so totally out of control yesterday that it was ridiculous. Too bad Olivia didn't clean her clock. Agree - Claudia needs an "attitude check" and Olivia is the one to give it to her. Can't wait to see it!Quote:Really don't like the Elizabeth, Nicolas and Lucky triangle. I FFwd'd thru E&N doing it - couldn't stand to watch that.
It feels tired, like been there done that! I liked Lulu trying to warn Lucky about it though. Maybe she can get thru to him before it's too late. I FFwd'd thru E&N doing it - couldn't stand to watch that. I don't FF much, but I ff'd Nik and Liz also. I found it disgusting, with Liz trying to work it out with Lucky and Nik trying to screw Rebecca over while sleeping with her..... Maybe under different circumstances, Nik and Liz would work, but not like this.
Question, For a while now Edwards head has been covered. If not a hat its a bandage. What is wrong ? Most men will not wear a hat at the dinner table, but he will.....somethings not right.
Maybe he is balding excessively, and they don't want a shiny head? I have been wondering the same thing.
If I remember correctly, John Ingle had skin cancer surgery on his head a while back which is why he has been wearing hats.
I believer I read somewhere that the actor had a melanoma and that's why the hats have been used.
Yeah, he was balding before and they never bother with hats, etc. I remember he made some excuse to Sonny for not removing his hat in church for Sonny & Kate's wedding.

I say the more tragedy heaped on Sonny, the better. Cannot stand him anymore. He deserves anything and everything he gets. JMO.
