Nicole and Sami were both pregnant by EJ at the same time, but Nicole miscarried. She was afraid she'd lose EJ because she thought he only married her because she was pregnant, so she went to a crooked doctor (Baker) to get him to set her up with a baby. They found a teenager named Mia, who was due around the same time Nicole's baby would have been born and Nicole convinced her to give her baby up. In a really convoluted story, Sami was visiting a convent when she went into labor and the nuns took her to Dr. Baker's clinic. Nicole had told the nuns about the clinic. When Mia and Sami went into labor at the same time, Nicole decided to give Mia's baby to Sami (who she named Grace) and Nicole kept Sami's baby so EJ could have his own child. All of this, of course, happened with nobody getting suspicious of anything. Nicole was wearing padding to make EJ think she was still pregnant. OMG, telling this makes me realize how absurd this whole story really is. Anyway, Mia doesn't know about the switch, so she thinks Sydney is her baby, living happily with Nicole and EJ. But Sydney is really Sami's baby. It's all unraveling now because EJ found out Nicole miscarried their baby. He doesn't know yet that Sydney is his and Sami's baby, but it's all coming out soon. On top of everything, Mia's old boyfriend, the babydaddy, found out she had a baby and he wants to find "his kid." That's probably how it's going to come out, when he demands a DNA test to prove he's the father and finds out he's not. OK, cmypoint, are you more confused than ever?

Grace had Meningitis and there wasn't anything they could do to save her. It takes its victims very quickly. Mia decided she couldn't provide for the baby and was happy that she had a good home. Mind you, she still thinks Sydney is her baby. Odd, though, she always felt a connection to Grace and wondered why she didn't have that connection with Sydney.

a little off topic how old are sami's twins now?

When they left Salem to go to visit Marlena, they were pre-schoolers, maybe 3 or 4 years old. When they come back this week, who knows? They aged Will so fast, Allie and Johnny might be pre-teens when we see them next! Children on soaps have a way of becoming grown up with amazing speed.
