Cane explained that when Philip came back. He went to the lab and paid off the lab tech by switching his sample with a vial of the frozen blood of Philip's. Said he couldn't risk there being two different specimens of his out there and he thought that Philip's vial of blood would clear him of being the father.....He knew all along that Billy was the father.
