Monday
Eric visited Brooke to apologize for Stephanie's role in her rape. Donna and Katie were aghast to learn of Stephanie's involvement, and even more aghast to learn that Stephanie skipped town to avoid the fallout. The two of them looked on while Eric stated his regret for not stopping Stephanie before things got out of hand. He made a heartfelt declaration of love and support to Brooke, which culminated in an emotional hug between them. After Eric and Donna left, Katie and Brooke had a heart-to-heart. Katie expressed regret at hurting Donna by wrecking her wedding. Brooke reassured Katie that she did the right thing, and did Donna a favor. "She's better off," Brooke insisted of Donna. Katie agreed with Brooke that Stephanie had gone too far this time.
At Cafe Russe, Carl was having dinner with Bridget. He helped Bridget figure out how to use her new PDA/cell phone, and teased her about her clumsiness in using it. Bridget suggested they go Dutch when Carl got sticker shock from some of the items on the menu. Carl suggested that the "scrambled egg" fiasco may not be a settled matter after all, because he witnessed the retired chief of staff and the head of cryogenics having breakfast together. Bridget was annoyed and anxious by Carl's claims. When Bridget spotted Nick and Taylor across the dining room she called Nick on her cell to say hi. Nick and Taylor dropped by Bridget and Carl's table to say hello, and to make an offer: they'd like Bridget to be the godmother to their child. A shocked Bridget nervously accepted, then made a fast exit. On her way out, she tapped Carl on his shoulder, signaling him to do the same. In the car, Carl and Bridget argued over Bridget's acceptance of Nick and Taylor's offer and whether Bridget should come clean about the egg mix-up. Bridget threw her purse in the back seat while speaking. Her phone redialed Nick's number when it hit the seat, and when Nick answered he overheard pieces of their conversation — enough to know that there's something wrong with Taylor's pregnancy.
Donna ran into Eric at the bar at Cafe Russe. Both acknowledged they were there to drown their sorrows for the same reason. Donna had Eric buy her a drink. She told Eric if she had married Thorne she would have made him happy and driven Stephanie crazy at the same time. Donna expressed her surprise that Stephanie just left a note and skipped town. Eric replied that Stephanie will have to answer for her actions when she returns. "Does this mean you're going to divorce her?" Donna asked pointedly. Eric coyly stated that he doesn't make big decisions like that over drinks, but he conceded that things have "cooled off" between him and Stephanie after all these years and kids. Donna rejected Eric's idea that that goes with the territory as the years go on. She suggested that happiness is a state of mind that's decided on by each individual. Eric thanked Donna for the food for thought and paid for another drink for her before leaving.
Tuesday
Brooke expressed her gratitude to Ridge for his help and support during this difficult time. "I've missed you. I've missed us," Brooke admitted. "How do I reclaim my life when the man who's been the center of it isn't there?" she asked Ridge. He tried to convince Brooke that everything she's accomplished she's done on her own, but Brooke insisted it was because Ridge was at her side. Brooke insisted that Ridge must feel the same way she does about them.
Nick flashed back to what he overheard on his cell from Bridget and Carl. Taylor asked him if he was OK. Nick excused himself to take care of "some business" — see Bridget pronto. At her beach house, Bridget was annoyed to find Carl knocking on her door. Carl said he came by to tell her something he forgot to tell her at the restaurant. Bridget threatened to cut off any association with Carl if he didn't agree to drop the subject of the egg mix-up. When Nick knocked furiously at her door Bridget sent Carl scrambling to hide. Bridget opened the door and Nick demanded to know if something is wrong with Taylor's pregnancy. Bridget insisted everything was fine, until Nick called her bluff by telling her he overheard her and Carl arguing via the phone. "I'm not leaving her until I find out exactly what's going on," Nick angrily declared. Bridget calmly recapped the whole egg mix-up saga, explaining to Nick that they can't be 100 percent certain that the eggs implanted into Taylor came from an anonymous donor, and not Brooke. Nick was flabbergasted. Bridget tried to reassure Nick that every indication suggests that things are OK. "What if you're wrong?" Nick asked Bridget. "What do you suggest I do?"
Taylor asked Ashley if she was feeling jealous or neglected by Ridge spending time with Brooke. Ashley said no, but did note the hold Brooke seems to have over her men. "Welcome to my world," Taylor joked, saying that at least with Nick there's nothing tying him to Brooke the way that Ridge shares a child with Brooke. Ashley said she feels Ridge is very special but she doesn't allow herself to get drawn into a competition for any man. Taylor said she observed that Ashley has fallen really hard for Ridge — enough to maybe make an exception to her rule. Ashley conceded that she has. Taylor tried to reassure her. "I'm living proof that you can have a life after Brooke," as she rubbed her belly....
Wednesday
Nick did his best to wrap his brain around the prospect that his and Taylor's baby could really be half Brooke's. Bridget tried to reassure him that the odds of that are slim. "Slim isn't zero," scoffed Nick, who asked Bridget if there's any way to find out if Brooke is the mother. Bridget said they have to wait until the baby is born. Nick declared that regardless where the egg came from, nothing has to change. Nick resolved to keep this secret between him and Bridget. He returned home, where Taylor spotted him staring at her. Nick covered and said he was admiring her beauty, and the two kissed. Taylor rehashed her conversation with Ashley and declared how happy she is to no longer have to worry about Brooke being in her life. As the baby kicked, Nick felt Taylor's belly and declared (as if to convince himself) that the baby is theirs.
Earlier, Taylor advised Ashley on how to deal with Brooke. Ashley jokingly asked if Taylor had a hit man she could hire. Ashley asked Taylor if Brooke and Ridge reconnecting is a foregone conclusion. Taylor reassured her that it isn't, and urged her to stay the course by continuing to handle the situation with grace and dignity. Ridge called Ashley from her place on his cell, apologized for not being around and asked if he could see her tonight. Ashley agreed to meet him at home. When Ashley returned Ridge tried to get amorous, but Ashley stopped him dead in his tracks and held firm. Ridge apologized for not being around and said it was because of Brooke and his mother, but he asked her to respect the fact that he can't tell Ashley any more than that. Ashley asked about his trip with Brooke and the kids to Big Bear. Ridge insisted it was a one-time thing and that nothing romantic happened. Ashley told Ridge she's not going to vie for any man's attention, not even his. Ridge told Ashley she had every right to be upset with him, and she's not a woman who deserves to be taken for granted. Ridge humbly asked Ashley for her forgiveness. He insisted he wants to be with her tonight. Ashley asked him what about the days and nights that followed — how does Brooke fit into his schedule? Ridge insisted Ashley is the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with, and pulled Ashley into a long, sweet kiss. The two ended up in bed, and made love by candlelight.
Brooke told Katie that things didn't work out with Ridge because of Ashley, so the kids are moving back into Brooke's place. Katie asked if she could move in with Brooke. Brooke happily agreed, noting that the house still feels empty even with the kids back. Katie asked Brooke if she was happy when she was with Nick. Brooke said she was, but noted that Nick has since moved on with Taylor. Katie asked if Brooke wants Nick back. Brooke lamented that every time she thought she'd built something permanent with the right man it gets screwed up. Brooke confided to Katie that her destiny is with Ridge and their children.
Thursday
Nick asked Bridget if there was any way to test for the baby's maternity now, but Bridget insisted that testing can't happen until the baby is born. When Nick went to his office he found Brooke looking at pictures from Taylor's sonogram. Nick seemed perturbed. Brooke said she was just taking a peek at them since they were in plain view on his desk. Brooke told Nick she's ready to get back to work and thanked him for being understanding during her time off. Nick asked why she didn't come to him for help when she was clearly having a problem. Brooke said she couldn't bring herself to, and proceeded to tell Nick about her attack and rape. Brooke made Nick promise to keep what happened to her a secret. Brooke confided to Nick that she's decided her future lies with the "father of her child." Later, while alone, Nick flashed back on Brooke's words: "My future lies with the FATHER of my child," clearly contemplating the possibility that he, too, could be the father of one of her children.
Ridge joked with Ashley about calling in sick so they could spend the day in bed together, but Ashley reminded him they have too much work to do with their big show coming up. Ashley's mood soured when Ridge noted he had to stop by to see Brooke on his way into work. "When is Brooke NOT going through something?" Ashley scoffed. "I deserve a little honesty," she declared. "I'm going to ask you again: What is this crisis involving Brooke? Do you trust me enough to tell me what's going on?" When Ridge hesitated Ashley said she must have her answer. Ridge tried to explain that he's trying to respect Brooke's privacy. Ashley said she refuses to be in a committed relationship where people keep secrets about ex-lovers, and left Ridge to go to work. Ridge visited Brooke and asked Brooke for her permission to tell Ashley the truth. "I want you back," Brooke declared. "Your future is with me...you, me, our children...forever."
Thorne met with Donna to clear the air. Donna insisted she would have made Thorne happy. Thorne said it wouldn't have worked, but wanted to tell her how grateful he is for her pulling him out of his drugs-and-booze tailspin. "You saved my life," Thorne declared. "I'll never be able to thank you enough." Donna expressed her gratitude for him treating her like gold. Both agreed there are no hard feelings, and Donna returned her engagement ring to him. "I will always respect you and admire you, Donna declared. A short time later, Eric looked around his empty house, and took a seat at his piano. As he began to play, Donna entered the house and admired his playing. She made herself known to Eric and told Eric how she and Thorne made peace with each other. Donna noted that Eric was rattling around the house by himself. Eric expressed his continued disgust with Stephanie for her role in Brooke's attack. Donna told Eric that he is not responsible for what happened and has no reason to feel guilty for it.
Friday
Brooke insisted to Ridge that they belong together again. Ridge said he'd always love her, but asked her why things would be different and/or successful now. "Because for the first time we don't have to worry about your mother," Brooke explained. "This could be a new beginning for us...the future is ours," she gushed. "I promise you, you won't look at Ashley, or any other woman, ever again." When Ridge hesitated and failed to respond, Brooke asked him to just think about what she said, told him she loved him, and gave him a quick kiss before leaving.
Donna was bowled over by the grand tour Eric gave her of the Forrester mansion. Eric conceded he doesn't have as much fun with all the bells and whistles of his sprawling spread as he used to. He lamented he leads a joyless life. "I see an amazing, sexy, dynamic man," Donna marveled. She suggested that Eric is suffering from acute boredom, and offered a "treatment," which began with taking a swim in the pool. Eric told Donna to go ahead and enjoy herself. Donna told him she doesn't have a bathing suit. "Don't let that stop you," Eric teased. While Donna skinny-dipped, Eric made them drinks. Donna was surprised to learn that Stephanie used to go skinnydipping in her younger days. Eric told her Stephanie is not the same woman she used to be, and declared he's not making excuses for her anymore. He added that he's not the same person either. Donna asked what happened to the old Eric. Eric said he numbed and shut downs parts of himself over the years to cope with everything. When Donna got out of the pool Eric helped her slip into a robe. Donna teased him for not sneaking a peek, and suggested that doing so might get certain things working again. "I'm not that old," Eric corrected, as he moved in to kiss Donna.
In her lab, Ashley asked Rick to smell her latest work-up of her new scent. Rick thought she had a winner in the works. Rick asked Ashley if she thought she'd be Mrs. Ridge Forrester anytime soon, but Ashley wasn't holding her breath. Rick asked if Ridge ever gave her a decent explanation for his time away with Brooke at Big Bear. He annoyed Ashley with his warnings that Ridge and his mother would always be a "package deal." Ashley left the lab, saying there was someplace she needed to be. She retreated to the company sauna. As she closed her eyes she flashed back to her times with Ridge. She then felt hands massaging her shoulders, and assumed it was Ridge — but it was Rick. Ashley scolded him, but Rick insisted it was an innocent back rub. Meanwhile, Ridge met with a jeweler to pick out an engagement ring. He then called Brooke and asked her to come over for dinner, adding that he loves her more than she could ever know. "Tonight, the rest of my life begins with you," Ridge mused, as the screen split to show both Ashley and Brooke.
