Monday
Jack's custody hearing resumed and Storm called James to the witness stand. James apologized to Taylor on his way to the stand, telling her he'd been subpoenaed and had no choice. Storm had James detail the nature of his help to Taylor. Taylor's lawyer got James to give his professional endorsement of Taylor as a competent mother. On redirect, Storm asked James about Taylor's alcoholism. James admitted Taylor is a recovering alcoholic. Storm got James to concede that Taylor has been drinking lately and has also been suffering delusions and hallucinations. Next, Storm called Brooke to the stand and had her detail Taylor's disastrous dinner party. Taylor's lawyer got Brooke to admit she had never seen Taylor take a drink. When Nick took the stand he apologized to Taylor and praised her for being a good woman and mother, and said what happened to her was no fault of her own. However, he insisted that right now she's in no condition to be a fit mother to their child.
Donna happily reunited with Eric. She told Eric she thought it was best if she gave him some space, but Eric said it wasn't necessary. Eric explained he's going to stay with Stephanie until they have their anniversary party as a thank-you for letting Storm off the hook. An uneasy Donna tearfully accepted Eric's sacrifice.
Stephanie told Felicia that Taylor had fallen off the wagon again and needs all the help she can get. Felicia asked Stephanie about Eric. Stephanie seemed coy and surprisingly optimistic about her husband. Felicia wanted to know what Stephanie has up her sleeve where Eric is concerned. Stephanie insisted she doesn't have anything up her sleeve, but did tell her about Eric agreeing to their anniversary party.
Tuesday
In court, Taylor's attorney asked Nick why Taylor left him. Nick tried to answer indirectly, but the lawyer pressed. Nick admitted it had to do with another woman — Brooke. He conceded he had feelings for Brooke but promised he would never act on them. Taylor's lawyer then called Taylor to the stand, who raked Brooke over the coals and explained to the judge how Ms. Logan destroyed both her marriages and how Brooke's egg was implanted in her (by mistake) by Brooke's daughter. Taylor tearfully took responsibility for her drinking and her actions, but begged the judge to let her keep her child. "Please, don't let me lose my baby to Brooke. She's taken everything from me." The judge called a recess while he reviewed the testimony. When the court reconvened, the judge announced his decision: to give custody to Nick. Taylor freaked out and unraveled, tearing into Nick and Brooke for taking her child from her. "It's not fair," Taylor kept repeating as she collapsed on the courtroom floor.
Stephanie and Felicia reminisced by flipping through family photo albums. Steph wondered if she's a fool to be chasing after Eric, but Felicia reassured her mother it was the right thing to do.
Wednesday
Nick and Brooke talked about Nick being awarded custody of baby Jack. Nick worried how this would affect Taylor. Brooke said she was anxious to see "our son." Nick headed out. Rick dropped in on his mom. Brooke explained that Nick went to Taylor's to pick up Jack. Rick said he's worried about Taylor and he wants to help her. He didn't think Taylor would ever accept Brooke as Jack's mother. Brooke agreed that Taylor was dealt a bad hand. Rick wondered why she was at Nick's house, as she's supposed to be marrying Ridge. "Your actions speak volumes," he said. Brooke claimed she was just there as Nick's friend. "I know what I'm doing," she claimed. Rick thought Brooke belonged there with Nick and Jack, "not with Ridge." Sure enough, Brooke was delighted to see Jack and she cooed and gushed all over him. Nick smiled at the happy tableau. Brooke reminded Nick that she's committed to Ridge, but Nick suggested she stay with them. "I want this to be your family," he offered as the two began to kiss. There was a knock at the door — enter Ridge. "Hey Logan, come on, let's get going," he said. Brooke apologized for not keeping Ridge in the loop. "What's it going to be? Staying or coming with me?" Ridge asked.
Earlier, Taylor hugged Phoebe. She urged her daughter to go back to her dorm and do her homework. Phoebe assured her worried mom that this arrangement would just be temporary. Nick arrived. Taylor looked distraught. "I never meant to hurt you," Nick told his estranged wife. Taylor held back tears. "Things have been really difficult for me lately," she admitted. She asked Nick if they could agree not to argue or fight in front of Jack. Nick graciously agreed. "He's here because of you," Nick told her. Taylor said she blames Brooke for the end of their marriage. "Things could have been so different, so wonderful for us, and I blame Brooke for that," she spat as she headed to the nursery for the child. Taylor brought the baby to Nick and commented that her visits with him had to be supervised. She kissed Jack goodbye. "I'm sorry," Nick said as he took his son from Taylor and left her house. Taylor sobbed on the couch. She tried to regroup but headed toward the bar and went on a mad hunt for some alcohol. Instead she found the yellow pages and placed an order for a booze delivery. Taylor's doorbell rang and she raced for her wallet. She cradled the bottle like a long-lost friend. She hugged one of Jack's stuffed toys and then threw it down. She was about to pour herself a drink when Rick entered. "Stop. Don't you drink that," he warned. She didn't want to listen. "You can't help me. You can't fix this," she said. She insisted she wanted to make the pain stop and began to drink. The bottle flew out of her hands. Taylor fell apart in Rick's arms. The two started kissing passionately.
Thursday
Katie paid Bridget a visit. Bridget said she was going through some of Nicole's things because Taylor's custody hearing brought everything about Nick and Nicole back for her. At Nick's house, Ridge told Nick he was wrong to take baby Jack from Taylor and wrong to think Brooke would be his mother. Nick told his brother to shut his trap and let Brooke speak for herself. Ridge admonished Nick for wanting to have it both ways, and told him now he'll be left with nothing and no one. Ridge and Brooke left Nick to sit and stew. Bridget popped by and offered Nick her help with the baby and things around the house. Nick lamented that a child needs two parents. Bridget reassured Nick that he will be a wonderful father.
At home, an annoyed Ridge said he's sick and tired of talking about baby Jack; he only wanted to discuss if he and Brooke have a future together. Brooke questioned what he meant by "IF." Ridge said he has no choice but to question her loyalty because of the mixed signals she's been sending. He asked if everything they have and share is worth risking, and he challenged Brooke's inability to commit. "Are you going to grab that dream of ours you wanted so much? Do you want that happily ever after with Hope and RJ, or do you want Nick and Jack? If it happens to be me, you're going to have to cut Nick and Jack out of your life completely. That's the deal — non-negotiable. What's it gonna be?" Ridge asked.
Rick and Taylor made out, then Taylor stopped. "That's it, I've truly lost it. I've gone crazy." Taylor noted she went from wanting to be comforted by a bottle to being comforted by her enemy's son. Rick suggested that she needs someone to take care of her. He made her promise that she'll call him any time she feels the urge to drink. Phoebe arrived home and asked Rick what he was doing there. Rick said he was checking on her mother because of her rough day. Phoebe thanked him and said she was there to support Taylor. Phoebe asked Taylor to call her if she needs anything and then excused herself. Taylor said Phoebe alone is reason enough for nothing to ever happen between her and Rick.
Friday
Eric reassured Donna that when the anniversary party is over he'll be coming home to her. Later Donna expressed her insecurities to Katie. Stephanie basked in the limelight and attention from everyone as they gathered for her and Eric's anniversary party. Eric arrived and was delighted to see everyone. People wondered where Ridge and Brooke were. Felicia gathered everyone for a toast to their family. Meanwhile Pam paid Donna a surprise visit with her Doberman and threatened Donna to stay away from Stephanie and her family. When Donna told Pam of her plans to marry Eric, Pam flipped out and said there was no way she'll ever meet Eric at the altar. Pam threatened to kill Donna if she tries to become Mrs. Eric Forrester.
Ridge demanded a final answer from Brooke on whether she wants a life with him or one with Nick. Brooke insisted that Ridge is the man of her dreams. She surprised Ridge by suggesting they run away and get married and go off on an impromptu honeymoon. Ridge became suspicious about Brooke's sudden about-face. She understood his skepticism but insisted her feelings were sincere. Brooke asked Ridge to marry now. She proposed to him on bended knee: "Be my husband for as long as we both shall live...."
Nick wasn't sure why baby Jack wouldn't settle down. Bridget took him and he calmed down right away. "This is what it should have been like with our little girl," Bridget mused. She wondered if the whole egg mix-up was destined to be — so she and Nick could find their way back to each other. Bridget told Nick she thinks about Nicole all the time. The two became overcome with emotion and kissed.
