B&B Week of June 2, 2008
Monday
Katie gained consciousness and claimed to be okay but wanted to lie down. Bridget escorted her aunt upstairs while Brooke and Nick worried. Bridget returned and admitted that Dr. Patrick had earlier revealed that Katie's tests show she is rejecting her heart. "It's not looking good," Bridget noted. "Katie's body is failing her." Nick asked how long Katie had to live and Bridget said a few weeks which caused Brooke to break down in tears. "We can't lose her," Nick insisted and Brooke asked how they were going to tell Katie that she doesn't have a future. Katie came downstairs and became suspicious, then surmised that her anti-rejection drugs weren't working. "Am I going to die?" she asked and their silence confirmed it.
Felicia was surprised to find her mother at Forrester Creations. Stephanie
admitted that she didn't feel like being alone at the beach house. Felicia
suggested that Mom come back to work at Forrester, but Steph refused. "I
don't belong here," she lamented, which got Felicia to blubber that Eric
will soon realize he made a mistake by marrying Donna.
"Marcus is your son?" Eric stammered. Donna explained how she gave birth when she was a teenager and that Marcus tracked her down. "I never expected to see him again," she said but Eric exploded and accused Marcus of scamming his wife. Donna became upset when Eric tried
to throw Marcus out of the house. "My family is right, I should never have
trusted you," he ranted. "Our marriage is over." That's when Donna snapped out of her daydream and we learned she had only fantasized about Eric's dreadful reaction. Donna told Marcus that the timing wasn't right to tell Eric that she had a son. Eric came back to the room and Marcus, who was hiding out of sight, was disappointed when she didn't confess the truth. After Eric left, Donna tried to explain that she will be thrown out of the Forrester family for causing another scandal. "We have to figure out a way to make this work," she said to a wary Marcus.
Tuesday
Katie asked Bridget how long she has to live and the answer was "a few weeks." Brooke suggested they get a second opinion, but Katie said she wants to live her life as normal as possible. "I don't want pity," Katie insisted and Nick helped her upstairs. Bridget then revealed to Brooke that Katie has a crush on Nick. Bridget said that she isn't threatened by it. "We need to make every second count and fill her life with joy," Brooke declared and Bridget agreed. When Nick came back downstairs, Bridget pointed out that he is the key to making Katie's last days happy and asked him to spend as much time as he can with her. "I'm honored," said Nick, who promised to do whatever he can to help Katie.
"Just give me a chance to figure this out," Donna begged Marcus. She explained how Eric's children threatened to kick him out of the company if there is another scandal. Marcus was insulted to be considered a potential scandal. Donna then proposed that he get a job at Forrester Creations so he can get to know Eric and his family. Marcus thought it was a bad idea because Pam is already very suspicious, but Donna still thought her plan could work. "Just stay here with me," she pleaded to Marcus, who admitted that he doesn't want to "mess things up" for her. Donna insisted she wants him to stay and when he finally agreed to work at Forrester, they hugged.
Wednesday
On The Shady Marlin, Nick and Bridget excitedly plan a surprise excursion for Katie. Bridget revealed that she wasn't going to tag along and wanted Nick to make the trip alone with Katie. Meanwhile, Donna was distressed when Katie and Brooke explained that Katie was rejecting Storm's heart. "I love you," sobbed Donna but Brooke announced she had a surprise for Katie and escorted her to the marina. There she was surprised to find out about her boat ride aboard The Shady Marlin. Brooke and Bridget bid bon voyage and left. Nick declared that it was time to have a few laughs and slipped a life jacket on his passenger. They set sail and landed on Catalina Island for a picnic lunch. Katie was suddenly overwhelmed with the reality of her fate and broke down in tears. Nick pulled her into a comforting embrace.
Ridge summoned Taylor to Forrester Creations where she was surprised to find Steffy waiting in his office. After they exchanged joyous hugs, Steffy explained that her dad asked her to come home from London. Ridge entered and happily reunited with his daughter. Ridge then informed the ladies that Katie didn't have long to live. Steffy offered to extend her stay so she could spend more time with Katie, but Ridge said he hoped that his daughter would be sticking around permanently. He proposed that Steffy move back home and work at Forrester. Ay first, Steffy balked, but Taylor assured it wouldn't be a long-term commitment and Steffy agreed to give it a try. After Ridge left, Taylor was surprised when Steffy gave her blessing on her mom's relationship with Rick. "More power to you," smiled the teen.
Brooke worried about Katie being out on the high seas, but Bridget assured that Nick would take good care of her. Realizing how Katie feels about Nick, Brooke praised her daughter's selfless behavior. "I'm so proud of you," Brooke sniffled. Bridget deemed Nick and Katie as just "best buddies."
Thursday
After Steffy insisted that she wanted to learn about Forrester Creations "from the ground up," Ridge placed her in the shipping and receiving department. Meanwhile, a nosy Pamela eavesdropped as Donna told Eric that "an impressive young man" was coming in to interview for an entry-level job. Steffy showed up and Eric was thrilled to see his granddaughter, then asked her to stick around for a job interview. Marcus arrived and was introduced to Eric and Steffy. As Donna anxiously watched, Eric asked a few questions, then offered Marcus a job in shipping and receiving. When they were alone, Donna excitedly hugged Marcus. "I'm going to make you proud of me," he declared. She scampered off to a meeting, then Steffy arrived to show Marcus around. It became obvious that he didn't know that she is a Forrester.
Ridge met Brooke for lunch and she explained how Katie is out boating with Nick. Ridge worried about Katie's crush on Nick, but Brooke pointed out that Nick makes Katie happy. Ridge offered to help in any way he can.
On Catalina Island, Katie lamented about the things she never got to do, like getting married and having kids. While they munched on their picnic, Nick tried to keep the mood happy and light. Katie got philosophical about the power of the ocean and Nick reminded her to take her anti-rejection medication. She announced that she didn't want to go back to the hospital and would prefer to stay on the island for as long as she could. "Take your pills, Katie," urged a worried Nick.
Friday
On his first day on the job, Donna cautioned Marcus to be wary of Pamela and Eric's kids. Later, Marcus accidentally bumped into Steffy and she spilled her coffee on the bolt of fabric he was carrying. Marcus freaked that he would be fired, but Steffy successfully removed the stains. Steffy gave details on the Forrester family, not mentioning that she is also a member of the family. It didn't take long for these two crazy kids to start bonding. Marcus later visited Donna and gushed about Steffy. Donna revealed that Steffy is Ridge's daughter; Marcus still said he likes her. "Like her from a distance, okay?" Donna warned.
Bridget explained to Brooke that even though Katie was rejecting her heart, the anti-rejection medication was still buying her time. Brooke asked if Katie could get another donor heart or even a mechanical one, but Bridget highly doubted either scenario and suggested the best alternative was not to be in denial. The ladies vowed to make Katie's last days happy ones.
Katie informed Nick that she wasn't going to take her anti-rejection medicine anymore, in favor of a peaceful death. "At least this way there won't be endless hanging on," she pointed out and wanted to stay on the island. Nick agreed it was her decision to do what she wanted with her life but pointed out that Katie needed to let her sisters know what's going on. "I'm not going back without you," he insisted and she dutifully took her pills, then broke down. "I don't want to die," she sobbed and Nick held her.
