Monday
Panicked Donna called 911 since she couldn't rouse Eric. The EMTs arrived and a now dressed Donna told them what medication Eric's on. (Yes, she admitted to the little blue pills.) Turns out, Eric had a heart attack. He was rushed to the hospital, where Bridget was on call. She did very doctor-like things as Donna let the mascara run.
Steffy ran into Marcus in Eric's empty office. Marcus wondered about the wisdom of Donna hiring Owen. "Owen's smooth," Steffy noted. "Guys like that aren't my type." Her type? Marcus. "Score one for me then!" he cheered, adorably, before worrying about people having it in for him. Like her dad, for instance. Marcus admitted he wondered about his father but didn't want to ask Donna quite yet. Besides, she had Eric in her life. Marcus asked Steffy out on their second date and then spied the Forrester ownership contract on Eric's desk. As he boggled, a security guard came in and told them Eric had a heart attack.
Ridge wanted to toast to his and Brooke's impending success and Rick walked in on them smooching. Rick congratulated them on their re-engagement but not on their plan for taking over Forrester. He eyed the unsigned paperwork with horror, wondering why he hadn't been consulted. "Everyone will get their share in a fair manner," insisted Ridge. Brooke echoed him, saying change was necessary. That's when Donna called with news of Eric's condition and they all rushed out. As Brooke comforted Donna, Ridge drilled her with questions. When Felicia and Thorne arrived, they added their questions to the pile. Bridget then confirmed that Eric had a heart attack and his condition was serious. Donna went in to see Eric and cry at his bedside, then the kids went in (Thorne, Felicia, Ridge, Rick.) Thorne was all manly and gruff, Rick cracked to his unconscious dad that this was a hell of a way to get Eric's kids in the same room, (except Kristen...), Felicia cried, and Ridge urged his dad to fight. Doc Bridget then told the gang that Eric is in a coma. Cue the tears...and Ridge stepping into the hall to rail at Donna, who dished it right back.
Tuesday
Ridge awoke in Eric's hospital room where he'd kept vigil. He told his dad he'd be back soon. "Your family needs you, Dad. I need you," he whispered.
Then it was Bridget's shift at his bedside. She talked about Eric walking her down the aisle. Stephanie and Thorne were the next to arrive. In the hall, Marcus hugged a tearful Steffy. "I love you, Eric," Stephanie told her ex. "More than anything in this world." Marcus then sat with Eric, marveling at how he had accepted him into the family. Steffy was visibly moved. As Bridget came in to check Eric's vitals, Marcus and Steffy went back to the hall. As Steffy started crying, Marcus comforted her with their first kiss.
Donna packed up some things from Eric's office to take to his hospital room and Marcus mentioned how the ownership papers freaked him out. Donna didn't want to talk about it while Eric was so sick. Donna told Marcus to go sit with Eric, and told him Eric wanted him in his will. She praised his big heart. As Donna picked up a pic of Ridge and Eric victoriously holding hands, Ridge walked in. They actually used their inside voices as Ridge brought up the issue of transferring ownership to him and Brooke "starting immediately." "Ridge, you're mistaken," said Donna. The volume began to rise as Donna defended Eric's right to the company he just bought back from Nick and Ridge condescended to her. Donna told him Eric had changed his mind about ownership. She and Ridge went a few rounds and shifted blame, but Ridge stood firm. "I'm taking control of Forrester Creations right now, today," he said, signing the transfer document.
Wednesday
Marcus caught Donna trying to steel herself for the Forrester employees. She didn't want to look weak. Marcus said she could lean on him — and called her "Mom" for the first time. Steffy sat at Eric's bedside and talked about Marcus, tearfully, until Ridge came in for his shift. Ridge was certain he had Eric's blessing to do what he needed to. Back at Forrester, Owen conveyed his sympathies to Donna, who shared the ownership transfer drama going on. He had a way she could stand up to Ridge: She needed to check Eric's papers and see who he'd designated as his power of attorney. Donna went to search Eric's safe. Guess who it was? Donna! Owen informed her she had the legal right to make decisions on Eric's behalf and she could block Ridge's takeover. Back at Eric's bedside, Rick wanted a sign that Eric wanted Ridge to run the company. What he got was Donna coming by with the box of Eric's knickknacks. After trading a few words with the one stepson who likes her, she sat down and talked to Eric about his belief in her. When Ridge popped in, Donna told him she wasn't falling in line "like a good little soldier." She'd fight him. Ridge didn't want to argue in front of Eric, insisting the transfer would go through. Uh, no it wouldn't! Donna told him she had power of attorney and would block it. Ridge walked out. Donna hoped Honey Bear would approve of her decision and promised Forrester Creations would be there for him when he returned to her. "Honey Bear?" scoffed Ridge, swearing, "I will take you down."
At the outdoor Forrester playground, Marcus and Steffy caught up on Eric's condition and then moved on to the important stuff: their kiss and Marcus having Steffy on the brain. Their adorable flirtiness continued and Marcus was clearly angling for kiss No. 2.
Thursday
Ridge talked to Eric's legal counsel about Eric giving Donna full power of attorney. "Hope and pray your father makes it through this crisis," warned the lawyer. In Eric's office, Donna told Owen of her triumph and he offered kudos and comfort. (He looked mighty guilty about being recruited to seduce her!) Meanwhile, Ridge caught up with Brooke, who was touched that he realized Donna was just as worried about Eric. Not so touching? The revelation that Donna was blocking their takeover. Brooke offered to try and talk to her sis.
Back in Eric's office, Donna teased that Owen was modest and then introduced him to Brooke. Donna did not want to discuss "the ownership issue" with Brooke — so naturally they argued about it. Meanwhile, Felicia popped up in Ridge's office with very Elizabeth Taylor-like hair. Brooke cautioned Donna about having power of attorney, talking to her like she was a very small child.
Donna agreed to take the "leap of faith" that Brooke was suggesting. Owen eavesdropped on the whole convo. Beaming Brooke returned to Ridge to say their victory was imminent. Meanwhile, Donna shared her decision with Owen, saying she'd been paranoid about the Forresters being out to get her.
Guilt-ridden Owen couldn't keep quiet any longer. He told her all about Felicia's deal with him and warned her that the Forresters would kick her out of the company and Eric's life. "They are not to be trusted," he warned.
"Don't give them this power." Down the hall, Ridge and Brooke continued to be smug and giddy and got down to the illicit office sex. Donna thanked Owen for his honesty and said she needed him on her team. He promised never to betray her trust again. "I'm your man," he declared. "I know what I have to do," she said, coolly.
Friday
At a board meeting where Ridge was giddily passing out contracts, Rick wondered why they were in such a hurry. Brooke said it was best to move the transfer along quickly. Ridge called Donna, who was sitting at Eric's bedside for some last-minute guidance. She soon arrived at Forrester, as did the press, who were in the reception area. Donna and her stepkids discussed exactly what would be announced to the press. Thorne, Felicia and Ridge were all solicitous since it seemed like they were winning. Donna warned them she wasn't signing anything just yet. She asked if Eric's happiness was important to them. Ridge kept being all nicey-nice and apologized for misjudging her, but not Thorne, who cracked, "I think I judged you just fine." LOL! Donna then lowered the boom about Owen and Felicia and let Felicia have it. "From now on, I'm making the decisions,"
she said, icily. Felicia refused to apologize for her actions. Ridge jumped to try and kiss up to Donna again, to no avail. Donna called the press in and gave a short statement. The contents? Rick would have more responsibility, Marcus would have Thorne's job, and Ridge, Felicia, and Thorne...? All fired!
Katie tried out one of Beth's recipes on Beth, who didn't remember yet another one of her concoctions. Naturally, Nick showed up to banter with Katie. Katie gave Nick a bunch of food she'd made since Bridget was working nonstop. Then, she and Nick bantered some more in full view of Beth. At the hospital, Bridget talked to Eric about Jackie considering her the "default wife," and got weepy over her dad's condition. Beth noticed how comfortable Nick was at Brooke's, and Katie wrote it off as Nick always visiting Hope. "I think he came to see you," said Beth. "I'm kind of in love with him," admitted Katie, saying that for a while, Nick had been in love with her. Clueless Bridget kept talking to her dad as Nick comforted her. They exchanged kisses and promised they wouldn't give up on Eric, just like they hadn't given up on Katie. Back at Brooke's, Katie talked to Beth about her transplant and attraction to Nick.
