Bold and Beautiful Recaps

B&B Week of February 7, 2011

Monday

Susan Flannery (Stephanie) narrated an introduction explaining that this was B&B’s 6000th episode and that Stephanie was forming a support group for lung cancer patients and survivors.

The episode began with Stephanie inviting Nick to her home; actress Kathryn Joosten (Karen, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES) arrived and stated that lung cancer patients and survivors need to be open about their condition. “It’s the No. 1 killer now among women,” Joosten noted and added that at this point, she’s cured of her lung cancer. She added that every three months she has to get tested and fears that she’ll have it again. For this reason, Joosten gets therapy to help with her mental state. Steph admitted that she’s thought about how much she’d miss her family and Joosten understood. Nick listened quietly as they spoke. Joosten revealed that she’d been prepared to die. Stephanie stated that she’s prepared for life and hopes that she’s also prepared for death. She thanked Joosten for stopping by and the actress left.

Jackie and Owen smooched as he tried to get her mind off of Nick. He noted that many people get lung cancer even if they don’t smoke. She wished that Nick would quit smoking and feared that she was pushing him away. Owen pointed out that it’s up to Nick to decide when to stop smoking and there’s nothing she can do about it. She didn’t think that she could hold her tongue and wondered why Stephanie was able to get him to listen. Owen reasoned that Steph uses strong-arm tactics. Jackie just wanted to support her son, but Owen could understand why Nick would be defensive. Jackie wanted to get through to Nick how much she cares about him and wanted to help him.

Next, a doctor and cancer survivor stopped by and Nick shared that he’s been trying to quit smoking. The doctor recalled how he’d felt a tingling in his chest and was suspicious that something was wrong. Sure enough, his chest X-ray showed a spot on the lung and it was determined to be lung cancer. He became emotional as he relayed how he’d told his family about the news. “I never smoked,” the doctor added. Nick asked if second-hand smoke could cause cancer. The doctor replied that it’s presumed to cause it, but they don’t know for sure. Nick was afraid that he could hurt Jack with his smoking. The doctor agreed that exposing his son to smoke could indeed hurt him.

The next survivor stopped by Stephanie’s and shared that she’d had surgery and chemo. She was another person who’d never smoked and added that having a sense of humor about her condition helped her deal. He was then introduced to opera singer Zheng Cao, another survivor. Steph explained how she was trying to get Nick to quit smoking before it was too late. Zheng Cao said that she had no symptoms and hoped it had been a false alarm. “I refused to accept it in the beginning,” she admitted. Steph agreed that she’d felt the same way. Zheng Cao added that she doesn’t know how long she has, but had a great support system around her. She gave Stephanie and Nick each an enthusiastic hug before heading out — and serenaded them with some opera, as well. “Please stop smoking,” she pleaded as she ended her song. After, Nick thanked Stephanie and pulled her into an embrace.

Tuesday

Nick returned home admitted to Stephanie that meeting with the lung cancer support group was scary. He asked her to leave and she determined that he wanted to smoke. Aggie, Jackie and Owen joined him and asked if he was ready to quit smoking his cigars. He replied that everything was under control. Steph implored him to admit that he has an addiction, but he didn't want to say that he didn't have control. The others lectured him about his smoking. Nick was angry with them for nagging him and noted that he has to do what's right for him — and not for them. He took a cigar out of his box and slowly tossed the rest into the fire. Everyone was thrilled, especially when he got rid of the final cigar.

Brooke and Bill met for lunch to discuss Hope and Liam's romance. Bill stated that he approved of Hope and couldn't imagine anything coming between her and Liam. Brooke wasn't so sure and Bill asked what was going on.

Liam worked at Spencer Publications, but took a break when Hope stopped by. He showed her the Web page he'd been working on and shared that he really likes his job. Still, Amber's pregnancy put a cloud over his good mood, though he refused to believe that the child could be his. He revealed that Amber is living in a trailer and concluded that she wanted money from him. Hope planned to make Amber take a pregnancy test.... Amber called Tawny and asked her to make sure that Carl alters the paternity test to say that Liam is her baby's father.

Hope paid Amber a visit and accused Amber of lying about her baby's paternity so she could move out of the trailer. Hope also believed that Amber was trying to pay her back for exposing Amber at the fashion show. Hope asked if she was really pregnant and demanded that she take a test. Amber obliged, which surprised Hope. She and Liam eagerly waited for the results. Amber emerged a few minutes later with a positive pregnancy test. A devastated Hope called Liam and gave him the news.

Wednesday

Hope gave Liam the news that Amber really is pregnant. Bill entered Liam's office and asked why his son seemed to be so distracted. Liam replied that he needs a doctor to prove that a woman isn't carrying his baby. Bill correctly guessed that the woman wasn't Hope and Liam confirmed that it was Amber. When Liam shared that he couldn't remember sleeping with her, Bill guessed that the liaison never actually happened.... At the trailer, Amber pointed out that Hope has a good life, but Hope didn't want her advice. She accused Amber of trying to hurt her and Liam. Amber denied it and said that she wished thing were different.

Summer paid Thomas a visit at work and gave him a kiss. Stephanie interrupted and Summer hurried out. Thomas admitted that neither Summer or Madison is his destiny. He and Steph agreed that they both see Brooke in a different light. She then invited him to volunteer at Dayzee's so he could have a life outside of fashion. Stephanie asked him about his love life and he admitted that he's still waiting to find someone special. The conversation turned back to Brooke and he said that he wants what Brooke and his father have.

Hope went to see her mom and told Brooke the news about Amber. Hope refused to believe that Liam was the baby's father and suspected that Amber was pulling a scheme. She was determined to get to the bottom of it. Later, Hope and Brooke paid Amber a visit, but before Brooke could say anything, Amber denied that she was trying to trap Liam. Brooke warned that her schemes always backfire and urged Amber to come clean. Amber stated that she has nothing to come clean about. Bill and Liam then came by and Bill accused her of trying to scam his son. An unfazed Amber insisted that it's Liam's baby. Bill called a friend, Dr. Ramon Montgomery, and arranged for her to get a paternity test — that day.

Thursday

Bill, Liam, Hope and Brooke paid Amber a visit at the trailer, where she stated that her baby is Liam's. Bill demanded that she take a paternity test right then and there, but she refused, noting that the test might not be safe for the baby. Tawny came by and asked what was going on. She then urged Amber to take the test so that she could prove that her child is Liam's. Bill said that he'd only trust his doctor to give it. After the four left, Tawny assured a panicked Amber that their plan would work and Carl would switch the test for them. Amber headed to the hospital while Tawny called her pal. However, when she called the lab, Carl wasn't there, he was at Dayzee's. Tawny called his cell phone and tracked him down.

Stephanie interrupted Thomas at Forrester Creations and she praised the work that he's been doing. She got a call from Dayzee, who asked if Steph could come to the coffee shop. Stephanie invited Thomas to join her and he agreed. There, he sat and sketched shirts for the coffeehouse while Dayzee got him coffee. Anthony arrived and Dayzee gave him some stuff to help with his foot. Thomas smiled as he watched Dayzee. He then praised Dayzee for the work she's doing. He continued to watch her from afar and was intrigued with the young woman.

Tawny found Carl and pulled him out of Dayzee's. Unfortunately, her car had a flat tire.... Amber arrived at the hospital and Dr. Montgomery explained how the test is done. Amber asked if the test is dangerous; she was told that there's a slight risk to the baby. Bill didn't care and just wanted her to get the test ASAP..... Tawny searched for a spare tire, but her trunk was just filled with underwear. A man asked if they needed help; turns out, he ran a Hollywood tour bus. Tawny was horrified as the bus filled with passengers. First, the bus passed CBS Studios (of course!), then headed toward the homes of movie stars. Carl was having fun, but Tawny feared that they wouldn't get to the hospital on time.... Katie, Bill, Brooke, Hope and Liam waited for Amber to get the test. When she finished, she asked where her mom was. She called Tawny, who explained that she was involved in a “situation.” Amber freaked out... Liam and Hope prayed that it wasn't his baby.

Friday

Liam, Hope, Brooke, Katie, Bill and Amber anxiously awaited for the results of Amber's paternity test. Liam apologized to Brooke for getting himself into this mess. Dr. Montgomery assured them that the results would be in as quickly as possible. Bill and Brooke went to the lab to check on the test. Hope was optimistic that Liam wasn't the father. Liam wondered if Oliver was, but Hope didn't think so.

Meantime, Tawny and Carl were stuck on the Hollywood tour bus en route to the hospital. Tawny feared that they wouldn't get there in time to change the results, but Carl was having a blast. Tawny demanded that they be let off the bus, but the guide refused. She angrily hit Carl with her brochure and told him to stop having fun. They got off at the next stop, despite the guide's protests. Carl and Tawny arrived at the lab, but Brooke, Bill and Dr. Montgomery were there. When the three stepped away, Carl pretended to be late for his shift and offered to take over for his co-worker. His colleague suspected that something was going on, but Carl denied it and said that he just wanted to help out. Tawny later joined Carl as he worked on the paternity test. He was confident that they'd pull it off. Tawny went to find Amber while Carl adjusted the results.... The doctor told Amber that the test went well and there shouldn't be complications. Tawny joined her and gave her the good news about Carl. Amber began to regret duping Liam, but Tawny stated that she was doing the right thing.... Carl gave the results to Dr. Montgomery, but Tawny returned and realized that the doc had the wrong envelope. They weren't sure if he'd taken the “correct” results or not.... Dr. Montgomery got ready to announce the results.

At Dayzee's, Thomas stared and smiled at Dayzee as she worked. She asked him what he was doing and he replied that it was cool to watch her in action. He added that she's not like most girls because she doesn't act like she has to impress him. He liked that she was so straightforward. After, he followed her around and gave her some of his ideas for the T-shirts he was designing for the shop. Anthony arrived and performed a song with Dayzee. Thomas watched and grinned the whole time. Later, he showed her some more sketches — then leaned in and suddenly kissed her.
