Bold and Beautiful Recaps

B&B Week of April 28, 2008

Monday

As Katie's loved ones hovered over her, Bridget revealed there was no available heart for Katie. "We have got to be realistic here," she wept. They'd soon have to turn off the pump keeping Katie alive. Storm burst in, insisting they give her more time. He listened to a frantic Bridget make phone calls, insisting "there's got to be a way." Storm wept at Katie's bedside before concluding with Bridget that a heart wouldn't be found in time. Brooke flipped out on the doctor and then arrived to tell Storm he should be ashamed. Bridget joined Donna and Nick in Katie's room, where they pleaded with her to wake up. Meanwhile, a devastated Brooke blasted Storm for taking the gun to Ashley and Abby's house, for doing "this to our baby sister." She told him the cops were coming for him and then left him alone in the room. Storm sniffled, removing the gun from his pocket and looking at the family photos in his wallet. The Detectives Baker soon arrived looking for him. Meanwhile, Brooke collapsed, weeping in Nick's arms. Alone, Storm left a note for Katie, remembering his "sweet sisters." As a mournful cover of "You Are Do Beautiful" played, he flashed back on them as wee little girls, complete with film strip effects and black and white shots. Aw! Meanwhile, the rest of the family was gathered with Nick, accepting Katie's fate and saying "I love you"s. (Has anyone called Stephen and Beth?) As Bridget noted they should find Storm, they all heard the sound of a gunshot.
Brooke bolted to where she'd left him. Sure enough, Storm was on the ground, dead, a photo of Katie clutched in his hand. Brooke somehow translated this as Storm wanting Katie to have his heart.

At Ashley's, the cops were crawling all over the bloodstains as she flashed back on the whole fracas as Ridge comforted her. The Bakers arrived to question Ashley as Ridge checked in with Brooke via phone. He said he was going to finger Storm for the shooting, and Brooke had no arguments.

Tuesday

In the hushed hospital observation room, Brooke and Nick watched the doctors work on Storm. Out in the hall, Donna paced and blasted the Baker detectives for hovering. Then, a woman came to talk to Brooke about organ donation. Brooke handed over Storm's donor card as Storm's doctor emerged and said Storm had no brain activity. Magically, this meant Storm's heart needed to go to Katie. "It is legally possible," hedged the organ donor lady, but what of their compatibility. Bridget, choking back tears, confirmed Storm and Katie were a match and pleaded to let them save Katie. By the time Ridge arrived, it was clear Brooke's view of Storm as The Big Evil had changed back to "I love my brother, St. Storm of the Holy Heart." She told Ridge and Ashley about Storm's "gift."

A random doctor guy pontificated philosophically in the OR about the operation ahead of them (Bridget was assisting). Nick looked on from the doorway. Donna asked to see Storm before he was taken away. Ashley then told Donna and Brooke what had happened during the shooting, insisting what he'd done wasn't "atonement." Brooke then beat herself up for turning on her brother. Back in the really badly lit OR, Bridget and the docs did complicated medical stuff. Nearby, Donna had a touching goodbye with Stormy's organ-less body. She pleaded with God not to turn Storm away. Then, the waiting game continued. Nick offered to call Stephen or Eric for Donna as Brooke went in to see Storm. She laid her head on his sheet-covered corpse and wept. "I love you," she sobbed. Later, Bridget was given the letter that was amongst Storm's things: A letter for Katie. And then the transplant surgery officially wrapped up, as the doc tried to zap Storm's heart into beating inside Katie's chest. After what sounded like a choir of angels and a swift motion of camerawork meant to be Storm's spirit moving into her, Katie's new heart started.

Wednesday

Brooke, Bridget and Donna hovered over Storm's letter. Brooke didn't want to open it, but Donna noted they needed to see what was in it. Bridget explained to Brooke and Donna why they couldn't see Katie yet and Dr. Patrick (the lecturing doc from yesterday) gave them an update and gave them strict rules for visiting their immuno-suppressed sis. Donna got cleaned up in Bridget's office and she and Brooke *finally* talked about contacting their parents. Donna went off to call Stephen and tell him to get here ASAP and then Stephanie passed on her condolences. (What a class act!) Freshly showered and scrub-clad Brooke then joined Donna to go visit a groggy Katie.
Bridget came, too, to caution Katie against talking. Donna and Brooke teased their sister, trying to avoid the subject of Storm. Katie stammered out to the gals and Nick that her shooting wasn't Storm's fault. After trading a cryptic look, Brooke tried to hand over Storm's letter. Katie asked her to read it out loud. It was chock full of apologies and memories — and, yes, the admission that Storm's heart was now Katie's. Katie didn't quite understand, though, demanding to see her brother. "He's with you now," Brooke and Donna told an increasingly hysterical Katie. They all began weeping as the realization hit Katie and she clutched her chest.

In the waiting room, Ridge explained the day's events to Eric, and Donna and Ashley threw in that Katie had misunderstood the encounter between her and Storm. Ridge hoped to God that Brooke would understand the anti-Storm choices he'd made lately. Another bad choice? Joking about showering with Brooke before she saw Katie. He asked Brooke how mad she was at him. "What bothered me the most was that you wanted to make decisions without me," she told him, before hugging him and reiterating her love. Back in the hall, Nick, Eric, and Steph got another update from a scattered Bridget. Nick dubbed Bridget the "unsung hero" and Eric and Stephanie shared a nice moment. Then, they talked about Katie finding out what Storm did. Stephanie figured Katie will be furious and wouldn't get over "the weight of the sacrifice." Eric claimed she'd make her peace with it and implied Stephanie would make the same kind of sacrifice that Storm did.

Thursday

Donna and Brooke tried to calm their hysterical sister. In the hall, Stephen arrived and got the full update from Eric and Stephanie. He rushed into Katie's room as Bridget sedated her. Unfortunately, he wasn't all that comforting since he didn't know what happened to Storm and had to be told.
"Storm shot himself," said Brooke (yes, in front of poor Katie). Stephen started weeping as Bridget explained the transplant. "My son is dead?!"
Stephen gasped, before quickly assuring Katie he didn't blame her and saying he loves her. Bridget cleared the room so Katie could rest. Back in the hall, Stephen demanded to go see Storm's corpse and Eric comforted Donna. As Brooke looked on, Stephen wept over dead Storm and praised his selfless act for his sister, before saying, "But it wasn't your job. It was mine."
Stephen apologized for being a big ol' deadbeat and promised to be there for the girls from now on. (Pass the Xanax...er, Kleenex.)

Back in the hospital hallway, Bridget accepted comfort from Nick. "You're doing great," he praised. Stephen later returned to a shell-shocked Katie's side to assure her of her brother's love, but whimpering Katie clearly didn't agree. Her new heart sped up. Bridget and Dr. Patrick rushed to answer the page. Judging by Katie's fever and chills, Doc Bridget suspected Katie was rejecting the heart and Dr. Patrick confirmed the possibility. He added that "it comes down to will," and that Katie might not be willing to accept Storm's "gift." Bridget pleaded with Katie to rest and get better and Donna added her two cents, urging Katie to fight. Stephen understood Katie's mix of emotions, reiterating again that this was all from Storm's love. "Storm wanted you to survive," added Brooke. "He loved you enough to give you his heart; do you love him enough to accept it?" Despite all the pep talks, Katie wheezed out, "It...was...WRONG."

Friday

At the Forrester mansion, Stephanie quietly signed her and Eric's divorce papers, with no fanfare. She told Eric that what Katie was suffering had put things into perspective. Eric praised her for reaching out to the Logans and she remembered how they'd nearly lost Felicia. Magnanimous Stephanie said she had to accept Donna makes Eric happy, and he wondered if she was coming to the wedding. Yes, the wedding was still scheduled for tomorrow. "Donna hasn't canceled anything yet," said Eric, noting that Donna had other things on her mind. Steph then handed Eric a special how-to packet for the new Mrs.
Eric Forrester. "I'm making sure that you're taken care of," she insisted.
Aw! Fond looks were traded between the exes. Ridge then appeared, noting now probably wasn't the best time for a wedding (ailing sister, dead brother,
etc.) and then went on to praise the connection between his parents. "With all that history, can you really marry Donna?" Ridge asked, suggesting Eric at least postpone the nuptials. "There will always be something between your mother and me — this family," said Eric, "but I refuse to be manipulated." Ridge warned there was no comparison between Eric's love for Donna and his love for Steph and, "maybe you're marrying the wrong woman." This left Eric with a lot to chew on. He played the piano and flashed back on the good times with Stephanie.

At the hospital, Dr. Patrick told Bridget that the steroids and antibiotics weren't doing any good. Feverish Katie flashed back on her sisters praising Storm's sacrifice. On cue, the Logan family all came in. Brooke told Katie they had Storm cremated and would have a memorial after she was released. (That's uplifting! Not!) Bridget explained to them that Katie was rejecting Storm's heart and Brooke hissed, "Storm died in vain." Groggy Katie urged Donna to marry Eric tomorrow, to just "do it." Donna said no, she wanted Katie to be her maid of honor. Brooke nixed the whole debate, demanding Katie get better. At her place, Donna fingered her veil and then opened the door to Stephanie, who was dropping off her how-to folder. Donna theorized that maybe she should get married in order to give Katie something happy to fight for. Good luck with that, considering Katie lapsed into arrhythmia and the doctors rushed to her! "Is it ticking?" cracked Donna of Stephanie's package. "It's one of the silent ones," she fired back, saying it was to help Donna with Eric. When Donna was boggled by her kindness, Stephanie told Donna she was praying for Katie. Donna appreciated her sincerity. As the doctor warned the family of Katie's condition, Katie told them that she didn't want Storm's heart, "I want Storm...I want him back." Back at Donna's, she told Stephanie she's definitely getting married tomorrow — and Ridge called his mom to tell her Eric seems "torn."
Unperturbed, Stephanie wanted to be at the wedding to look Eric in the eye!
Very perturbed, Katie was gasping and starting to code...until she heard Storm's gentle voice, urging her to accept his choice.
