Monday
Brooke and Ridge came home from Eric's wedding and Ridge changed the subject to their nuptials. "I'm as sure as I've ever been," he told her. She kissed him passionately, clearly pretty sure, too. Of course, Ridge then killed the mood by not wanting to have a wedding at Chez Forrester now that Donna lives there, too. Ouch! Ridge backtracked insulting Donna and admitted his mother was in pain and he didn't know how to help her. Brooke brought up having a memorial for Storm, and Ridge got back in the doghouse by listing off all of Storm's wacky stunts. Brooke wanted to celebrate the good parts of Storm's life. Mr. Insensitive took weepy Brooke in his arms and apologized. Brooke philosophized that they couldn't solve their problems in bed and Ridge assured her they'd come too far to turn back now and that he loves her.
Donna and Eric cuddled on the bed and made toasts. Donna admitted she was on "red alert" all day expecting people to get in the way of the wedding. As Eric held her, he eyed the photo of Steph, Thorne and Ridge on his nightstand. They talked about a funeral for Storm and the trauma Katie has been through, and then Donna suggested they focus on what a wedding night's supposed to be about!
Stephanie dropped by Katie's room bearing flowers from the wedding. Bitter Katie was waiting for Steph to pull an "I told you so" about the unfortunate Storm situation, but that wasn't what she had in mind. "So you're here to call an impromptu meeting of the Shot By Storm Club?" Katie wondered.
Stephanie admitted she was all alone now, and Katie was alone, too. Katie dubbed herself a bitter, awful person for not thinking Storm was a hero. "He was a time bomb; why didn't I see that?" she asked, blaming herself for Storm's death. Stephanie told her to stop guilting herself and Katie said Storm's "gift" was sick and wrong and he shouldn't have killed himself. "I will never forgive Storm for this, I will never forgive myself," she said before Donna called to check in. As Donna told her about having a funeral for Stormy, Katie said she'd be skipping it. "The kind of eulogy I'd give is not one you'd wanna hear," she snapped and hung up. Compassionate Stephanie just listened as Katie unloaded. "Are you happy you stopped by?" Katie asked, noting she's the one person more miserable than Steph right now. "There's a certain comfort in that," chuckled Steph, before assuring her that she's loved and that she's not alone.
Tuesday
Ridge stared at Brooke as she slept and then woke and, no, Brooke didn't find it creepy. She wished they had more time to linger in bed, but she needed to plan Storm's memorial. As expected, it created tension. Luckily, Ridge refused to "speak ill of the dead" this time. He assured Brooke that Storm's death wasn't her fault. They then moved on to Katie's anger at Storm and Brooke described how grateful she'd felt...as well as how horrifying the gunshot had been. Ridge comforted her with a hug.
Newlyweds Donna and Eric cuddled tenderly as she poured coffee. She was worried about the business, wanting to contribute at Forrester, and Eric assured her his kids would treat her with respect. (I wouldn't hold my breath, Eric.) Eric let slip that the kids are worried about Stephanie, who "pulled away." Donna urged him to track Steph down and he said he didn't want to do that on his first day as her husband. Donna said she had a funeral to plan and he suggested she have it at the mansion. (Oh, yes. He did.) Donna then found Stephen downstairs with a bunch of Storm's things. Stephen said Beth couldn't come because she was too "traumatized." But how could they have a memorial sans Mom AND Katie? Stephen thought it should be postponed but Donna refused. "Tomorrow is supposed to be a celebration of Storm's life," she said, not caring if bitter Katie didn't attend. Steph, meanwhile, answered Eric's summons, assuring him she was fine and surprised to find him working so soon after the wedding. Eric pointed out the Logans were planning Storm's memorial. Stephanie talked about visiting Katie and Eric complimented her class at the wedding. He just wished the kids had followed her example. "They did the best they could," she sighed, complimenting him for supporting his "young bride" through a tough time.
Stephanie awoke in Katie's hospital room, where she'd spent the night. She cracked to a bewildered Katie that she forgot to make a hotel reservation and tried to put on a brave face, but Katie knew she missed Eric. "There are some wounds that never feel..." allowed Stephanie, noting that letting people love you helps you get on with your life. Later, Stephen and Katie had a heart-to-heart (ha-ha) about Storm's choice and Stephen called him a hero for killing himself. "That's not my Storm. That's not my hero," Katie said. "Only a desperate person finds a solution in suicide." "We all were desperate," said Stephen, urging her to mourn her brother. But she couldn't go to the memorial. She was too angry.
Elsewhere, a mysterious but really good-looking young man looked at a newspaper announcement about Eric and Donna's wedding and booked a flight to L.A.
Wednesday
Nick dropped by Katie's hospital room with duds for Storm's service but she still refused to go. "You'll say to yourself, 'My brother had one memorial and I missed it,'" he warned. Katie then asked to see the room where Storm shot himself and Nick helped her in. She noted the "fresh paint" and sank down on the bed. Alone, Katie said she wouldn't have had a problem with dying and shared a moment with Storm, his letter, and his gun. He insisted fate had already decided that "your life is more important than mine." Katie disagreed. "Live for me," urged Storm, folding his jacket. "I won't be your walking grave," she spat at him. He cupped her face and told her she didn't want to die. Then, he turned and reached for his gun. Katie cried out his name, snapping out of the vision as Nick came to get her. She decided to attend the service after all and Nick helped her inch into the foyer and hide as Ashley spoke about how Storm had tried to reach out to her.
At Chez Forrester, a photo of Stormy was prominently displayed, along with the box containing his ashes (whatever happened to urns?). As Donna, Brooke and Stephen discussed ash scattering, Rev. Healy from their church came by.
Turns out, their other pastor had turned down doing the service because of Storm's suicide, but Rev. Healy had no compunctions. Mystery Guy with the newspaper clipping lurked outside the mansion and made to leave when he realized a funeral was taking place. Eric spotted him and introduced himself. When Donna walked up to say the funeral was private, Mystery Guy was startled. Then, in the faux pas of ALL faux pas, Eric assumed the strapping young black guy was a member of the catering staff. Nearby, Felicia sniped about Donna being married to Dad and Mystery Guy, eavesdropping, overheard. He kept pretending to be a waiter as Donna asked him to tell her stepbrats the service was starting. Stephen talked to those gathered about his deadbeat dad issues leading to Storm's fate and then moved on to Storm's sacrifice. Later, a moving video montage played and Brooke spoke about how some people in the room (like, say, Thorne, Felicia, Ridge) thought Storm didn't deserve to be in Heaven. Rev. Healy stepped up to say they couldn't presume what was "in the mind of God." Donna joined Brooke to say that Storm hadn't acted in hopelessness or despair. "There was only love," she assured. "I am so grateful to have been loved like that every day of my life." As Donna name-checked her baby sister, a shaky Katie interrupted to say her piece.
Thursday
A weak Katie stood in front of everyone gathered, talking about what she'd been taught about Heaven growing up and the purpose of memorial services. "I have a right to be here," she insisted when her sisters tried to shush her. "His remains aren't complete without me." She got teary as she talked about remembering her brother and the near-pleasure her siblings had taken in her chest being "sawed open like a drawbridge" to make room for Storm inside her. She opened her shirt and showed her ugly scar, saying, "This is where Storm lives now." She told them her grief and her loss is different than everyone else's, describing how Storm was both brother and father to her. "I did this," she cried, saying how she'd accidentally shot herself. "I am ashamed to be alive. I am afraid of living." Despite that, she promised not to "make it a smaller heart than it was when it was his," and said to Storm that she'd never forget "that it was yours." Moved by her monologue, Brooke, Donna and Stephen rose to comfort her. Not so moving? The fact that Mystery Guy was circulating as a waiter as Ridge kvetched to Eric about how Storm didn't deserve a service. Out on the terrace, the Logan siblings healed their rift. They even snapped a photo for Mom and told Stephen to give her their love. Bridget thanked Nick for getting Katie to the service and Mystery Guy offered his condolences to a bereft Donna. Later, Katie wondered when Nick was going to lord it over her about being right that she should come to the service and she thanked him. "Can we try to hug?" he asked, before they gingerly did so. Brooke spied the embrace and her Nick perimeter alarm went off!
Stephanie and Taylor ran into each other in Katie's empty hospital room and Taylor's nonattendance at her ex-boyfriend's service was glossed over. The two women talked about Steph and Katie's newfound connection and a nurse revealed that Katie had gone to the funeral. As they boggled, Steph kept taking unwitting potshots at Rick thankfully not being in Phoebe's life
(LOL!) and Taylor revealed she knows Storm shot her because Rick told her.
Taylor praised Steph's dignity at Eric and Donna's wedding and offered her professional services. "I'm actually thinking of taking up skydiving,"
cracked Steph, assuring Taylor that she wasn't waiting around for Eric.
Friday
Bridget boxed things up at the Malibu beach house as Felicia and Thorne arrived with a positively beaming Stephanie, who was moving in to the "cozy and comfortable" digs. Eric came by and Bridget hugged her dad and Stephanie and then left. Alone, Steph and Eric traded one liners about beach living versus the house on the hill. Steph was actually looking forward to a little distance. Naturally, Felicia had to put her anti-Donna two cents in. Thorne admired his mother for handling a difficult situation. "Are you two finished?" Eric grumbled. Thorne warned his dad that Donna comes with a lot of baggage.
A melancholy Katie flashed back on Nick taunting her into kissing him. Nick arrived in the flesh right on cue. Predictably, he'd brought pistachios and not so predictably, a Lakers jersey and a hat. He buoyed her spirits as they worked on a jigsaw puzzle. Nick then got a text from Bridget saying she's now homeless. "You love her, she needs a place to stay, why not with you and your son?" suggested Katie. Nick didn't want to rush things, teasing Katie about her lack of humor lately. Katie let slip that there was one thing in her life that raised her spirits, but before she could reveal it (Nick, Nick, Nick!) Bridget came in. Katie blurted out that Bridget and Nick should shack up. Trapped, Nick ran with it. Bridget sparkled, running to call movers. "This is a good thing," Katie assured before being all emotional over her unfinished puzzle. Of COURSE Nick then found the last, missing piece. (Anyone else smarting from that weighty metaphor?)
At the mansion, Donna was airy and giddy and trying to urge Eric into a swim, but he wanted to make sure Steph was okay at the beach house. "I hope you're that thoughtful when I'm your ex wife!" laughed Donna. There was a knock at the door and Eric left as Mystery Guy arrived. The excruciating catering mistake continued until MG gently corrected her. "Then who are you?" Donna boggled. When he said his name was Marcus, she accused him of being a tabloid reporter. Wrong again! Marcus explained that he's not a stranger and started talking about imagining how Donna might look (possibly not QUITE so
blonde?) before tentatively asking, "Are you my mother?"
