I cracked up at that, too. Just because there's all of three black people in Oakdale doesn't mean the same holds true for elsewhere, and just because Derek was Rose's boyfriend doesn't mean he's the father of her suspiciously tan child.Of course, in Lily's defense, she's probably right. LOL.
I have to get major props to the writer's of today's show, as well as to Van and Jake. I am so glad to see they were allowed to bring up the the kissing ban, and I'm happy to see that the writers and the actors did their best to make up for last year's Christmas pan. I'm actually shocked the people in charge of the show actually allowed to bring this up again as I would think it would be a sore subject, but apparently not.
I enjoyed Luke & Noah actually being able to talk to each other too, which is a rare thing to see! It's too bad Maddie had to ruin that.
The rest of the episode was pretty good too. Poor Lucinda! I hope she finds out about Brian soon and that snake leaves town asap!
I'll give my props to Noah. He was great. So sweet and adorable. Yes, it's me saying that. Hey, I'm easy. LOL! HOWEVER, why is Luke being such an idiot!? I'm sooooo disappointed in his behavior. Noah is clearly NOT into Maddie and they were good friends. Luke has no reason to be threatened. Or did he forget that Maddie left town because she got dumped? Interesting way of addressing last year. I'm glad the show did it.... and the kisses were great. The guys are improving! About Maddie.... who shows up on your doorstep after two years and says 'I still love you, let's get back together?' Umm.... what? She didn't go see her BROTHER first? That was stupid.Lucinda, honey.... can't you see what's obvious? Brian is sweet and I believe he loves you, but not that way.Henry and the book? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............And no Paul/Meg.It was a good day!
Today's episode was excellent--one of few in recent months I've been able to watch all the way through and enjoy. But when Brian said he has his hotel room until the end of the month, I threw up in my mouth just a little bit. I hope "worth the wait" is the show's way of telling us Luke and Noah's first time will be worth our patience...and not a lovely sentiment that will come back to bite us on New Year's Eve.Also, I knew the show was doing the ABCs with its contrived Nuke-blockers (Ameera, Brian...Damian) but I never would guessed "Coleman" would have been the C! Please, Luke, believe Noah. The guy worked like 19 shifts at Java to buy you that watch--let him have a gal pal and don't freak out!
I'm afraid Brian's line about his hotel room is simply a set up for what's to come......
I don't think Maddie is contrived... I just think Luke's reaction to her is ridiculous. The only point I will put in Luke's favor is that he and Noah haven't had sex, like Luke said. I think if they had, he wouldn't be threatened. He STILL shouldn't be threatened, but I get his POV. But Noah bought presents for Luke and his whole family. Noah doesn't have a lot of money.... I think that should indicate how much he cares.
I also thought the show was well put together. Usually it seems like Oakdale is 5 different cities, but today it seemed like one because all the stories and characters interacted and touched upon one another.
And no Paul or Meg! Wait, did I already say that!? LOL!
Quote:And no Paul or Meg! Wait, did I already say that!? LOL!
Can't be said enough.
Loved today's show! Although some of the Luke/Noah/Maddie scenes were a little weird. Almost like Luke and Maddie never were really great friends... I don't know...
Loved the kisses! Did I see a little tongue during the second kiss? Loved Noah today. I'm glad he believes Luke about Brian coming onto him. And he just said all the right things (about his feelings for Luke but also about how Luke did the right thing with Jade). Loved the watch. "Worth the Wait" Awww.
I agree that Luke's bahavior was a little weird and tomorrow doesn't look any better. But I love it how Noah runs after him in the previews. I hope Noah can reassure him (again). Until hell breaks loose on NYE. Don't know what to expect, but I'm glad I know things will be better between the boys in the new year. I hope they will really be together when Damian arrives back in Oakdale.
Today's episode was written by David A. Levinson. I think he's my favorite writer on the show.
Totally off topic question:How can you tell who wrote a particular episode?
The last writer listed in the credits is the one who wrote that episode.
Quote:I'm afraid Brian's line about his hotel room is simply a set up for what's to come...... Obviously it's too late to do anything about it, but I hope the show knows there's a line not to be crossed in that regard. I assume that "Noah rescues Luke" means what it says and Luke will leave that room with his much-lamented chastity intact. But my goodness, if he doesn't...Well, I wouldn't want to be the mail reader at ATWT. Talk about a development no one would like: The folks who hate that there are gays on the show wouldn't like it, and the folks who have been dedicated fans of the gays on the show for years now would be furious. Mala, jump in any time now and tell us we're worrying for nothing and that you would be the first to know if this was going to happen!
So.... it looks like Maddie and Noah were holding hands in that promo, unless I saw it wrong. That's why Luke was so upset and ran out. I'm not saying he should be, but at least that makes sense.
Why would I want to jump in when you're all clearly having so much fun with the rampant speculation? LOL. All I'm going to say is that I have interviews with Van relevant to the next few weeks' stories in upcoming issues. So you'll just have to read and watch. Also? I totally recommend The Man From Oakdale. I had a blast reading it. Could not stop laughing. (On a New York City bus, no less...)
Thanks Mala. I know you can't tell us anything... you have to sell magazines! LOL!I look forward to reading your interviews as always.
Quote:Why would I want to jump in when you're all clearly having so much fun with the rampant speculation? LOL.
Clearly you don't know the difference between fun and the kind of agita that gives you a heart attack at the holiday dinner table.
I'll be looking forward to your Van interview, though I prefer Jake's interviews...he knows what to say to sooth my nerves!
EDIT: Never mind, Mala: I got the answer I needed.
Oh, I think the specuation is fun myself because there are so many possibilities. My theory is that nothing will happen more than a kiss, but Luke will be so drunk and upset and jealous about Maddie that he'll let Noah believe he did have consensual sex with Brian. But it's just a theory and based on nothing. And I'm old enough to remember a time when there was no such things as spoilers and previews and stuff like that. You just had to watch the show to find out what would happen next.
Why would anyone want to do that?
Quote:And I'm old enough to remember a time when there was no such things as spoilers and previews and stuff like that. You just had to watch the show to find out what would happen next. Ahhhhh..remember when there were shocking deaths and surprise returns? I kind of miss that...but I just can't quit looking for spoilers!
Interesting show today, even if it moved at ATWT's usual blinding speed.Sorry, I am NOT feeling Casey and Ali. There is no chemistry, they do not work. Billy's charm and infectious personality can not make a couple interesting.I loved the Luke/Noah/Brian scenes. I LOL at the scene where Luke was 'tempting' Brian. I almost felt sorry for the old perv. And I can see Jade (this is a recast that is actually working, IMO) will be the one to expose all this. I just wish Luke wouldn't go off the deep end everytime Noah does something thoughtless and stupid. Though their final scene was great. Jake was very good at showing how hurt and angry he was --- and Luke's face after he read that letter was heartbreaking.Nobody had a happy New Year, did they?
I agree that this Jade is working. It seems like she's supposed to have the last Jade's toughness but be more sympathetic, and that works for me. But then I found the last Jade almost unwatchable by the end of her run. Nothing against Elena, but the character was despicable.I actually like the slow build they've done with Casey and Alison! It's nice how they actually trust each other.Luke's lack of trust of Noah, on the other hand, is out of control. At least he did the right thing and told the truth at the end. I hope Noah takes that into account when Luke apologizes.I also hope Luke grovels to Noah, and to Lucinda for being complicit in Brian's big lie. I want to love Luke again but he's got to earn it. I suspect Noah feels the same way!
I'm not going to blame Noah or Luke but wouldn't it seem plausible if the Noah was going to leave the party that he would tell Luke he was going to take Maddie out and calm her down that he would be right back? I know if that happened, then there wouldn't be a big fight scene then the make up scene later. But I just can't see somebody walking out on a party without letting his date know something was wrong. But then again, this is just me. I am not sure about the new Jade, Maddie, and Lucy. The chemistry and the edginess isn't there for me. But then again, I haven't watched it enough over the last two weeks to see them interact with the other actors. I did like the scene where Luke made a play for Brian, but I don't think a person could get drunk on two maybe three glasses of champagne. Don't recall him drinking anything else. It was good to see Noah getting some balls and taking up for his man. Even though, this time Luke was the one to instigate it. Luke will have a lot of groveling now. Overall, pretty good show.

But then again, this is just me. No.... it's not just you. It's unacceptable that Noah would simply leave his date behind without a word. No excuses. Then again, there are no excuses for Luke's behavior though. That was OTT, though entertaining to watch. And instead of groveling (I know some like watching Luke beg, but I do not) how about a simple conversation where they talk about what happened and work it out?
But it would be nice to see him (Luke) do something wrong and ask Noah for forgivenss. So I little groveling would do him good. Though I don't want to see him beg or whine. That is getting old.
Instead of groveling, how about something romantic to show he's sorry! If this were Henry and Vienna we were talking about you know there'd be costumes or handcuffs involved...
Yeah, but Luke and Noah haven't had sex yet so I don't think handcuffs would make the perfect romantic gift at this point. but I do agree that a candle light dinner and soft music would great with Luke apologizing profusely.
Both of them did stupid things, but it seemed Luke's actions were the most implausible and unrealistic of all. I don't really blame Noah for taking off with an upset Maddie. The whole Luke getting drunk off two half glasses of champane was so ridiculous. The episodes were proof that they will never make love and the show never has any intention of ever letting them go through with it. They aren't even going to deal with what just happened with them. They are going to have very little screentime until March.
I"m not blaming Noah for leaving, I'm just saying that in when is it not customary to tell your date that you're leaving to help a distraught friend. Maybe Luke could help or he will meet up with them after he helps Jade. That is all I'm saying.

Hi, folks. I'm going to delurk and make a comment. I agree that ideally Noah should have said something to Luke, especially since he had been so jealous. However, hindsight , as they say, is always 20/20. I think anyone could get caught up in the moment when an upset friend shows up unexpectedly, have a lapse in proper etiquette, and deal with the situation at hand. Ideally, he should have taken 30 seconds to tell Luke that Maddie is very upset and he needs just a little time to help her out -- and not to be jealous! LOLAs I watched that episode it struck me that many of the events had been set up as a not-so-funny comedy of errors. Almost everyone either arrived or left at precisely the wrong moment. If Jade had not stopped Noah, he might have seen Luke before the kiss ever happened. If he had stayed a little longer with Jade, he might never have seen it. Who knows. The whole episode was like that. Of course, if problems never happen, there is no drama! Even though I'm a huge fan/supporter of BOTH Luke and Noah, Luke let his insecurities get the better of him, and created a crisis where none should have existed. And not just for him and Noah. Because of Jade's presence, the crisis will now extend to Lucinda and Brian.Regarding Liberty and Parker, there are no polite ways to describe how thoroughly disgusting that whole scenario is. And they had better not have "round 2" before Nuke even has "round 1"!I really think TPTB are totally missing the boat with Luke and Noah. With the spectacular chemistry those two have, good writing and an honest portrayal of a romantic relationship could make them the gay equivalent of Luke and Laura from General Hospital 30 years ago. Who knows -- maybe even their own "wedding of the century" watched by millions! LOL Why on earth do they want to screw up such potential?

LOLIt was really hard to take anything seriously from the way those scenes were written. This little misunderstanding would have easily been solved in less than a minute if either boy used their cell phone. The whole concept was so beyond ridiculous, it wasn't even funny. It was just sad. Luke looked for Noah for about 15 seconds and then automatically came to the conclusion that he must have left to have sex with Maddie. So he drinks 2 glasses of champagne and within 2 minutes, he's so completely wasted that he's kissing his step-grandpa? Sheesh.I have to keep reminding myself to ignore logic from time to time on this show because it's a soap opera. But I still wish it were written better. (And this goes for ALL the storylines, not just Nuke) I hate how the writers just throw a bunch of contrived plot points out and don't give us much for the in-betweens.
I don't know why they would want to screw with their potential, but they are really dropping the ball with Luke and Noah. It could have something to do with them not being favorites of the writers coupled with the fact that they are too controversial. I don't know, but I do know that they turn of events on NYE were so contrived. When Maddie left, she and Luke were good friends. In fact, she left on better terms than with Noah. Noah is gay. What reason would Luke have to think Noah went running off to have sex with Maddie?
Guys, I had to go through and delete a LOT of posts from the last few days that veered off topic from episode discussion. Please remember to keep all discussions of why Nuke haven't had sex to the appropriate thread.
Today's scenes between Lucinda, Brian, Luke, nuLily and even nuJade were fabulous, IMO. I felt and understood where they both were coming from in the reveal scene. She feels betrayed, because she WAS betrayed by him. While, he wanted to 'not be the bad guy' in the situation, but because of nuJade's reaction to how Lucinda treats her, (which is to lash out) caused him to finally face the reality of him not wanting his wife in a sexual way. I do feel that he loves her, as a great friend and companion, but he'll never be sexually attracted to her. They had a great friendship and IF he had just said, "No" to her proposal, things might not have gone down the drain (in regards to their relationship).Yet, IMO, we've been BLESSED with amazing scene work between Larry, Van and Liz.I really enjoyed today's reveal of Brian's sexuality, Lucinda's betrayal and Luke being honest about what he did to Brian on New Year's Eve.BRAVO.For me, I wasn't at all interested in the idea of seeing Brian and Luke pursuing a relationship with each other, because the setup wasn't right. I, was looking forward in getting the opportunity in seeing Van working with an actor that I've admired since I was a young pre-teen and I got that chance, because it's been a very long time since I've seen Van working on material that gave him something to do OTHER than have Luke being "there" for Noah.

I so Agree with this. i wanted to see how it would play out, i never wanted some to happen like them becoming a couple. I love Luke and Noah. but like a blger said this could of been great front and center stoyline but that not the way it played out.
Yesterday's scenes were incredible. I actually really liked all the Brad/Craig/Katie/Dusty/Lucy stuff as well, because it was a nice change-up of scene partners. But the Brian/Lucinda/Luke/Lily/Jade thread was very compelling and well-acted.
I like nuJade. nuJade can stay, if TPTB decide to let her stick around in Oakdale.
Today's show was AWESOME.Really, I loved everything.Jon Lindstrom is a great Craig. Really enjoyed that story today.Liz Hubbard was amazing in her scenes where she's mad at Luke. So heartbreaking, because the relationship between Luke and Lucinda has always been one of my favorites. I remember that long talk they had at her mansion just after Luke had come out. It's great to see that Ali and Casey are Nuke fans too, LOL. It was great to see Noah in scenes with people other than Luke. I love them together, but I want him to have friends too. I'm really glad that the younger cast is interacting so much with each other. Casey/Jade was great. Her asking him about having a bromance in prison. LOL! Glad they remembered the two characters hate each other. Casey talking about Luke and Noah getting married was lovely. The roof talk. Both said things they should've said a long time ago. I think this will really help their reunion, even though they don't think it's going to happen themselves. Both Van and Jake were amazing in those scenes. Too bad we had all that background noise!Looking forward to next week's scenes.
It WAS a good day, probably one of the best in a good while cause I enjoyed all the stories and wasn't bored or annoyed.I'm not a fan of Casey/Ali as a couple, but I do like them as friends. I'm not getting Ali's thinking Casey is just some horndog who can't do relationships given that in the past year he's been happily married (if only briefly). I love how Casey won't give up on his friends, he's so loyal and his intentions are always good. That's one reason why he's one of my favorites.Noah and Luke had one of the best talks that they've ever had. I liked how Luke called Noah out about expecting the perfect boyfriend and admited his own issues and mistakes. And it's great that Noah let Luke know he didn't like always being compared to his father everytime they fight. Good stuff and the kind of talks they should be having more often. The Casey/Jade scenes were great too. Now there is chemistry!Loved, loved, loved Liz Hubbard today. She was awesome. I know that being betrayed by Luke really hurts because they had such a special relationship so I get her anger. It was nice to see Holden because he hasn't been around much lately.LOVING Jon. L as Craig. He's got the character down pat and it's really working for me. His scenes with Maura crackle and I hope it goes somewhere with them. The only flaw was Lily not wanting to give Carly that money. First off, she wouldn't miss it and second I thought she was Carly's friend? She doesn't care if her business goes under? I didn't get that. I know it was done for plot purposes, but Lily seemed awfully cold and unfeeling for someone she's supposedly forgiven.Overall though, great day! But when you have no Paul or Meg (sorry, I had to say it) that's always a plus!
I was thinking the very same things today. I like Casey and Alison as friend not as a couple. I did see those sparks that he had with Jade. Heh there could be something there.
Just adding to the chorus--that was a fantastic episode. I hated to see Scott Bryce go but Jon Lindstrom is an excellent Craig--he has this merry prankster quality that really works for me. And Luke and Noah's rooftop argument was like a compendium of all the things fans needed to hear the boys say to each other. Hopefully with that out of the way the writers will move to all the things fans need to see them DO to each other!
Add me to the list of JL as Craig fans! I think he's my favorite Craig so far. He conveys so much with his SUBTLE facial expressions without resorting to pulling cartoonishly villainous faces. He's smooth, suave, smug, nasty, selfish, hurt, loving and has demonstrated great chemistry with every actor he's shared scenes with. Please, please, PLEASE don't let the show screw this one up! ; )
The sexually frustrated pink elephant aka NUKE have finally done the deed.Hallelujah. Now, they're going to be involved in some "funny and lighthearted" murder mystery in the upcoming month, which is great. We'll get to see them being intregrated and involved with a storyline that doesn't have anything to do about the status of their relationship. Hopefully, during that time, we'll get to see more character development for Noah. Then in the future, we can see Noah and Luke doing what every other couple in Oakdale does: fall in love with another person and not remain faithful to their former "true love"/"true north". I don't want Noah, Luke and their NUKEDOM to be written as something that is 'so sacred' that can't be 'messed up' like every other straight character and their pairings have been since soap operas were created. I want it to be messy and screwed up and EPIC, so that in the end, when they are the "ENDGAME", it will be worth all of the trials and tribulations that have happened in their time on the show.
I was so surprised that they actually did it and went through with it. Today they were being a little flirty with each other and they spent the night together finally. We didn't get to see that though. Are we just going to get to hear about their hot sex and not see them about to do it again? I want to see the happiness/romance on screen and not just hear about it! It doesn't have to be about sex. I still want to see them cuddle in bed. Weren't there scenes of Nuke laying down on a bed before and Luke was on top of Noah? I remember they were wearing clothes though. I love their hotness and cuteness. Loved all the Brian/Noah/Lucinda/Luke scenes today. Loved LL's performance and actually sad that today was his last day.
Jon Lindstrom is doing the one thing that none of the other actors playing Craig (and my disclaimer is that I've only been watching ATWT since Hunt Block was on during the time when Rosanna decided to give away the baby rather than have Craig in his life...um, it was on an airplane coming back from Thailand or something?) have been able to do...and that's humanize him for me. He was always a character I loved to hate but now I find myself....*gulp*...sympathizing with him.
I thought today's VD show was awful. Just awful. On paper it's a good idea, but the way it was executed was not good. The only things I liked were Barbara and Bob's sarcastic comments (Haven't you seen the movie?) during The Wizard of Oz. Paul's Beast voice was...? Eeeh...
I like Jon Lindstrom but why does he get to play what? Five roles? While a large part of the cast was ignored.
And where was the romance? I thought it was supposed to be a Valentine episode. They have Katie, Margo and Bob, but not Brad, Tom and Kim.
This wasn't a Valentine's Day show it was a more of a ATWT Fairy Tale. Poorly done if I might add. I meanl, there was more romance the time they did that dollhouse episode. And alot more the cast was portrayed. Are the writers getting desperate or has their creativity just ran out? I could write a better story line than that. In fact, I have some wonderful ideas as well. Very disappointed in today's episode.
That was probably the most confusing thing about today's episode for me. This was supposed to be a Valentines Day show yet the majority of the fairy tales they featured were non-romantic ones. I didn't understand the point. Most of the characters we saw in these stories were the ones that dominate the show too much anyway - Craig, Paul, Meg, Dusty, Carly and Jack. Craig in particular had TOO much to do. There was no reason for him to be in every single story. Worst of all, after everything poor Johnny has been through in his young life, he had to spend the entire day with Parker and Liberty. I wouldn't wish that fate on ANYONE.
Luke's car accident in the previews today looked very well done. Seems like they did a good job with that stunt. I'm looking forward to seeing the whole thing next week!
I agree. After Elwood was "hit" by the car on the bridge, I was worried about how lame Luke's accident would be. But this looked great. But I had to laugh when I read spoilers that Luke would be fine. I mean, he rolls off a small hill and he's paralyzed... And he'll be just fine after a little rest after this?
Luke knows how to roll.
