I'm trying not to think about Dusty and Josie having sex because he was all buoyed over a lead on Johnny. That's just... to use a popular Internet phrase, "DO NOT WANT!" And I really did love the family atmosphere of Thanksgiving. I loved all the calls and excuses for why people couldn't be there, I love that the writers and continuity people made sure to include everyone...except I think Caleb, LOL. But, seriously, in the wake of ALL that awesomeness, you had Luke practically stumbling around like Ashley in Gone With the Wind, going, "Melly, I ain't so very drunk" and nobody batted an eyelash.I mean, I don't know about anybody else, but there's no foolin' your momma. They have radar about these kinds of things!
Where was Aaron? I didn't see him at the table. You would think he would be there with his family. I'm like the others. No one could tell Luke was drinking more than lemonade? They couldn't smell it. don't think he popped in a breath mint after each cup.
Holden said that Aaron was celebrating Thanksgiving with his mother in Seattle.
Oh didn't hear him say that. Thanks MarkDutchViewer
I was hoping they wouldn't make Brian go psycho, but after all the faces he made and the comments he made I think that's where they are going. I kept getting vibes that Brian is going to try something. Either that or Luke is going to be so upset that he's going to willingly sleep with Brian.
So... Paul was shot point blank range in the chest. He should be out of the hospital by Thursday, right? Wednesday if he let's Meg do the paperwork.
Boy, it's good that Noah is pretty (and he is VERY pretty) because he just doesn't get it *shakes head*......
I guess Laurence Lau got his scripts that say 'play it creepy'.....
I love that when Paul is in trouble he calls Em for help. I think they like this sick game they play with each other. It's sure better than watching him play Santa. Now that really is creepy.
Once again Noah was the victim of bad writing and no character development. He was used as a prop(yes a very pretty prop). I actually miss the days of Luke's paralysis storyline when Noah actually did something other than show up for 2 scenes and was able to talk about his feelings or events that are going on or was even a part of the events unfolding. He is barely even a part of the storyline right now. I liked when Luke was in the hospital and he was afraid to visit Luke and he had those scenes with Dusty. Something similar would be really great right now. As it is, we saw very little of Noah. Instead, he showed up to get Luke all riled up and then left the scene again. Noah is not written as Luke's boyfriend or even friend. He's written as a plot device these days. I wish Noah would have scenes with somebody to talk about his feelings so that we don't have to guess what's going on with this character and his relationship with Luke.
I liked the show today. Luke/Casey/Alison have a nice friendship. I like their scenes together. Why no Noah at the hospital with Luke? Ali should have called him, Holden, and Lily. I still don't like Brian. LL is a good actor, but I'm not feeling it. His scenes with Luke have victim/victimizer vibes.

It's beyond frustrating. Noah isn't even a part of this storyline. His screen time is as GOD awful as it's always been. It's nice to see Luke more even if he is acting like a drunk [censored]...but I really, REALLY miss Noah. It's interesting. For so long on this show, I remember being angry over seeing Luke at one side and all the other younger characters (Will, Gwen, Maddie, Casey, Jade) on the other. Luke never got to interact with the younger teens and their stories. He remained a prop with no screen time. Now Noah has become what Luke used to be - the prop with no screen time and no interaction with the younger characters unless Luke is around. It sucks.
I absolutely LOVED the scene between Casey and Dr. Bob today. It's so great when they tie in the multiple generations AND play the story line (in this case, Casey's incarceration and expulsion) like it would play out in real life, i.e. long-term repercussions, familial strife, etc. So many times on soaps characters have some major event (murder, kidnapping, organ transplant) and it never seems to impact anyone else in their life! Oh, and it totally helps that both actors OOZE natural charm.
That was my favorite scene of the episode! So charming and such a nice acknowledgment of ATWT's past and present being connected. Plus, did you catch Casey calling him "Granddude?" I cracked up!
Casey's "granddude" was hilarious. It was my favorite scene too. You could see that Don and Billy enjoyed working together in that scene.
About tomorrow's show. SPOILERS mentioned:
Just watched the sneak peek. So Carly trying to steal Holden away from Lily is a reason to not trust Carly? I guess Lily doesn't remember that Katie, who is there in the same room during the conversation, tried to do the same thing.
They're all just a bunch of hypocrites in that clip. Holden pushed that relationship much more than Carly and how many times has Lily herself cheated? And then we have Katie who pursued Lily's husband, was married to Janet's soon to be hubby and almost cheated on him with Brad who stopped it, used Vienna's S/O Henry to try to break up the relationship of Mike and Jen and then cheated on Mike. And she has the nerve to say Carly can't be trusted! Talk about someone having a history with the men of everyone in the room! Look in the mirror Katie. We know Janet was with a married man before she came to Oakdale and then was after Brad when she arrived. And Carly really didn't steal Simon from Vienna and those weren't Vienna's jewels that SIMON stole. They sound like a bunch of cackling hens.
So, Janet's blank invitations arrive Tuesday, for a wedding supposedly airing Friday, and she had them rush delivered? Is she going to use the Oakdale Transporter to beam them into everyone's mailboxes?
Hand delivery. I mean, we all know only six to seven characters will show up anyway, so it probably won't take that long. LOL.
Of course! That has to be it....and besides, a bonus, is that she can take the $2.94 in postage she saved, and put it back in Parker's trust fund. hehe
Unwatchable! That bachelorette party was SO awful! On what planet do the writers think these people reside??? For Lily to take them to Carly's bar and then for them all to sit around cackling like that with Carly mixing drinks in the background had me cringing! It was even worse than Jack's pathetic bachelor party that included his cousin's closeted stepfather-in-law who has possibly not even MET Jack before!I'm pretending today never happened and starting fresh tomorrow. *shudders*
good luck with that. That will be etched your memory forever.
Gak! You're right...I'm still thinking about it! It could have been a WHOLE lot more palatable/believable if they played it like Lily was getting some satisfaction out of seeing Carly hurting. Instead, she had to play it obliviously (and I know that's the writing not Noelle Beck's acting choice) AND she once again threw her husband at Carly. It's not fun to watch because none of it rings true.
See, I actually liked those parties except for the fact that there wasn't enough people at them! The whole reason the girls' bash at Metro was awkward was that they could have used at least three-four more women who, ya know, haven't shared a man. They could have had the groom's cousin, Meg, there, and Jack's "boss", Margo. Just to make it look less like Katie, Vienna, and Lily were willfully torturing Carly. But, hey, budget constraints! I mean, they couldn't even afford a stripper with a six pack. What was that...a four? LOL.
I thought especially the hen party was disgusting because not one of them had any reason to talk. And Carly always being the one getting bashed is beyond old. I know the Carly haters enjoy it but the Carly fans, and she has plenty of them, are beyond sick of it. I can't stand any of those women anymore and just hit ff for the rest of their scenes. They're just a bunch of hypocrites.Maura and Michael were fantastic in their scenes yesterday! They were the only good part of the show for me, as sad as it was. I don't think there are many other actors that could have pulled that off. That was probably the most painful scene of theirs to watch however since it wasn't anger but just hurt. Sadly though as they said goodbye to each other, I felt like I was saying goodbye to ATWT. It just isn't entertaining anymore.
I have to say that Jack's bachelor party was the first one I've seen on daytime that even came close to resembling a real-world bachelor party. I was surprised that Henry took the risk of hiring the stripper through the Internet, but he lucked out -- she was hot!
I loved it how Noah was not at all interested in the stripper and walked over to the pooltable. LOL
But he'll be all over Maddie when she returns! :PI really loved Noah yesterday. Luke's not ready to be taken back--he had just moments earlier been ripping into Noah and suggesting that drinking was the solution for all his problems--and you could see in Noah's eyes and hear in his voice how much it pained him to have to say no. Jake does so much with so little material!
I agree that Carly was unfairly trashed at the party given none of those women's histories are exactly spotless. Truthfully, I just find the fact that Carly just *had* to be at these events to be so unreal. Sometimes the polite thing is to *not* show up. But, I was really ticked when Carly was made out to look the bad guy after Parker stole that money. He commits a crime, but gets cake as a punishment? Whatever. Micheal and Maura were excellent in those scenes. I just wish they would give the Jack/Janet marriage a real shot, like I wish they would have Jack/Katie. But Carly isn't going to fake that she's drying this time she'll start hanging around Craig. That will be more than enough to get Jack's attention and hasten the end of his new marriage.
As for the bachelor party, do we have to keep having these scenes of Luke laying his emotions bare and Noah coolly walking out him? If Noah doesn't want to be in Luke's life, stop showing up at Snyder family events. Like with the Carly thing, sometimes the polite thing is to say no and stay away. Because doing it and then stomping on Luke's feelings makes one wonder if Noah gets some sort of perverse pleasure out of it. At least Brian's presence did make sense. He's a new member of the family and they want to make him feel welcome. And he and Jack did meet because they were both at Thanksgiving.
So Meg is going to have a healthy baby next week? Isn't she only like 6 months or something? And I think Luke should just open up shop as a therapist for the terminally closeted. He'll make a fortune!
If Luke wants to get back together with Noah he should stop insulting him every time he sees him. His comment about "the good ol' days of pretending to be straight" was very low and I would've left the party too if I were Noah.
I think Noah need to develop a tougher hide if he wants to be in a relationship..... especially with a Snyder. LOL!
But seriously, I thought Luke and Noah were both testy with each other from the moment Noah arrived (which is an indication that some distance is needed). Once Noah accused Luke of being drunk, it just went downhill from there.
Quote:If Luke wants to get back together with Noah he should stop insulting him every time he sees him. His comment about "the good ol' days of pretending to be straight" was very low and I would've left the party too if I were Noah. Exactly. That was extremely cruel of Luke to bring that up and throw it in Noah's face. Just like it was extremely cruel of him at the Halloween party to accuse Noah of being a coward more than once just because Noah knew Luke was getting involved in that school election for all the wrong reasons. What REALLY makes me sad is that in both those instances, Luke was completely sober when he made those awful remarks to Noah. The alcohol wasn't doing the talking for him like the time in Old Town when he told Noah he was just like his father...probably the meanest comment a person could ever make to him. If I were Noah, I wouldn't have gotten back together with Luke at that moment either. It completely breaks my heart how the current writers have turned my beloved Luke into this cruel [censored]. He's always had somewhat of an edge and been snarky but I draw the line at him being overly cruel like this. Thank you, writers, for destroying yet another character on this show.
Luke is hardly destroyed. He hasn't killed anyone.... yet. He cheated on a silly election. And unlike most characters on this show, he actually paid for what he did. There should be a turnstile at the Oakdale PD for all the crimes other characters committ and get away with. And I don't blame Luke for taking a few shots at Noah. Sometimes the high handed moral superiority can be grating, especially from one rooted in hypocrisy.
Luke is a character who should have an edge, especially given his bloodlines. I like this darker side of Luke..... he's been more interesting to watch now than he has in a long time. My fear is that when this is all over Luke will go back to being a saint who is a doormat for Noah to wipe his feet on.
Over all though I think both Luke AND Noah need to grow up and develop some relationship skills. They've both behaved badly during this story and both handled things badly.
To me, any interesting character, Luke, Noah, or otherwise - is a combination of both good streaks, and bad streaks. If they're all bad, they become unredeemable, and are off. If they're all good, they're never on. Luke and Noah are both interesting to me, because they both get a lot right for eachother - and they also get some things wrong with eachother. It's what keeps me rooting for them....honestly, if I were 100 percent for just one of them, and totallly against the other, I wouldn't be watching. It's the right and wrong together, that instigates the push and pull, that keeps me watching.
LC, I agree with you. I love characters with flaws. They're interesting to me. But I will call them out on their mistakes. They both made mistakes and they both did great things. They're human and I root for both of them.
Quote: I just wish they would give the Jack/Janet marriage a real shot, like I wish they would have Jack/Katie. But Carly isn't going to fake that she's drying this time she'll start hanging around Craig. That will be more than enough to get Jack's attention and hasten the end of his new marriage. But in reality why should they give them a real shot? The time for that is long passed. CarJack has been separated 3 years in March and they had plenty of angst before that. They are a hugely popular couple and no other couple on the show has to go for so long without any happiness or letting them be together. So why should their fans have to keep waiting? If they wanted them really in other relationships that should have happened already. How much longer should their fans have to wait when no other couple waits this long? A lot of CarJackers tuned out this week. I certainly will not be watching the show everyday anymore either. I'll probably just watch on the rare times that Carly and Jack share scenes. CarJackers stayed loyal through all the angst and and feel now in the end that hurt us because all we got for loyalty was a kick in the teeth. Perhaps had we not been so loyal, things would have gotten better long ago. TPTB expect us now to stick it out through anything but many have finally said enough of being jerked around by TPTB. So while they now use Maura to bring the latest newbie onto the canvas a lot of people will tune out. With the last CarJack scene on Froday, it's clear they aren't over but the fans have had enough of the angst and until the show is serious about putting them together in a good story most of us are saying we've had enough.Plus I have no desire to watch Carly destroyed by having her pretend to forgive Craig. To have her forgive him is totally out of character. She might do that for all he's done to her but she'd never forgive him for what he did to Rosanna and Gwen.
And I agree with you too MDV - it's the flaws in the characters that make them interesting, and calling them out on them, is just fun! Because if you try doing that with real life people you get in trouble sometimes.
Could anyone tell me how to start a new thread?
I think you go to the main ATWT page (the one with the list of all threads) and then click "post". I think that's right, anyway.
I could be wrong, but it seems to me that Jack and Carly sharing scenes together is not rare. At least not as rare as Luke and Noah sharing scenes. They always seem to get these amazing scenes, like the one of them in bed last week. I would have loved for Luke and Noah to have a scene like that. Apparently, that's not allowed between them. At least Jack and Carly have a lot of scenes together and apart and get to appear in a full episode. I'm not saying Jack/Carly fans don't have a reason to be upset with the show, they do. I just don't think Jack/Janet is permanent and Jack and Carly always have many great scenes together on a weekly basis. Plus they are treated like actual human beings instead of eunuchs.
And Jack and Carly may share scenes but they have lots of bad ones too with Jack yelling at Carly adn being turly hurtful. Just sharing scenes or getting air time isn't enough. And I'm guessing for awhile they will have fewer scenes together. What's worse is they keep teasing a reunion and then pulling the rug out from under use. You wait 3 years and counting for a Luke and Noah reunion and see how it feels. How long should the fans be expected to wati? I think it's quite understandable that many are tuning out.
I can see why Carly and Jack fans are upset. I mean, I enjoy the couple myself and the show has jerked them around more than any other for years. I like Jack and Janet as a couple (sorry) but I think I would have liked it more if Jack and Carly had of gotten their act together and been together for awhile. Let them worry about their kids and get involved with their problems for awhile. Or maybe Jack could be seriously injured in the line of duty and they have to fight together to get him well again. As for Luke and Noah, I personally think they have it better now in terms of airtime and story than they have all year. I seem to recall they were barely on at all during the summer of Parkerty. It's far from perfect and there are things I do think they could be doing differently, but I could say that for the entire show. We certainly are seeing some good acting by nearly everyone involved in the story. I've really been impressed by Laurence Lau, who I've watched for years but I've never quite seen this side of him before.
It's really hard to buy that Carly would have anything to do with Craig under any circumstances or that Carly would care about Katie's problems. I mean it's just silly. However, Maura and Jon have great chemistry and their scenes sizzled. And Maura is looking absolutely fantastic. She was stunning on today's show.Am I the only one who finds it ludicrous that Dusty could say that his thing with Josie was becoming less about Jennifer, especially since later in the same episode we clearly saw he knew nothing about her and all they did when they were together is talk about Jennifer? And I was bothered that Babs wasn't more upset about Paul using Jen's memory to toy with Dusty, especially after all that Paul put Jen through when she was alive.BTW, the maid should be fired for talking too much.
I didn't think the Carly and Craig scenes sizzled at all and I saw no chemistry. But then I don't find it entertaining to have a man talk so condescending and demeaning to a woman as Craig did to Carly. And then he admitted when talking to Dani that he had an agenda with Carly as he always had. It's always what's in it for Craig and he would just be using Carly. No thanks. I also hated the way he threatened and manhandled Dani. I watched out of curiosity to see what the scenes were like but I think I'll be taking a pass on them. I'm fine with JL as Craig but am hating the way the character is written. The last thing I want to see is Carly stuck around Katie again I also was very disappointed with Barbara's reaction. All in all I thought it was a very disappointing show. :

And I was bothered that Babs wasn't more upset about Paul using Jen's memory to toy with Dusty, especially after all that Paul put Jen through when she was alive.
I have the same problem you do with all of this. What is Dusty so attracted to if not the memory of Jennifer. Because we really hadn't seen anything of Josie except her playing Jennifer.
I understand Emily's frustration. And Babs' lack of frustration at Paul is frustrating.
Interesting show today.... lots of sex talk on all fronts.
While this is not going to end well because I don't think this show could conceive of a viable May/December romance between two men (not that I'm advocating one, but these things DO happen), I'm impressed with LL's acting. I've watched him since his AMC days and I don't think I've quite seen him this good. He's clearly hung up on Luke..... he gets all starry eyed when he looks at him. And there is a strange sexual tension between them. But like Brian said "who wouldn't be attracted to you?"
Though talking about the sex lives of Luke and Noah/Lucinda and Brian was somewhere I didn't expect the show to go.
I've had enough of the father/daughter sex talk between Craig and Dani. At least the show didn't ignore it and showed how creepy it was. I'm glad she's gone and hope she's not coming back. However, it's a shame what was done to a legacy character.
While I like the sparks between Carly and Craig, why is Carly in Craig's business? Since when did she care about Katie? And what's with Katie spilling all to Carly, someone she's never liked? None of that rang true and rendered the whole scenario implausible.
The only thing I have to say about tomorrow is I hope Paul takes as many pills as possible.
Since he's been spitting the pills out, maybe he's just trying to catch up.
I was stunned to hear Luke actually mention his lack of a sex life with Noah. (And the eye roll was a nice touch.) While I desperately want to believe that the return of the sex topic after five months of radio silence is a good sign, it's probably just to remind us why Luke will be jealous of Maddie next week, right?Prove me wrong, show.
Quote:Since he's been spitting the pills out, maybe he's just trying to catch up. Either that joke was really bad.... or I'm clueless because I just now caught what you meant! LOL!

You should join the "it was bad" camp - it has lots of members.
the Paul and Meg just put me to sleep. i do love CZP adn Anthony that plays James but why would Jame think Meg is the one if he hate all snyders.i liking the Bonnie and Drek stuff so far..
I like the actor playing Derek and I Iike the character so I'm all for him being Jade's dad. But it bothered me that Holden and Lily didn't know who he was. I mean, he played a pretty integral part in Meg's life recently and I'd think that her own brother would at least know that. It just sort of illustrated that problem they have on this show where every story works independently and the characters all live in bubbles.
The Meg and Paul stuff bored me today. It took Lily a very long time to figure out that Derrick was talking about Rose, her twin sister. Wasn't that strange?Lily made a pretty big assumption that since Derrick and Rose were "close" that obviously meant that he's Jade's bio dad. I know that's probably the case, but that's a pretty big assumption. Rose was in New Jersey at the time. She probably knew more than one black man at that time.
