I'm puzzled as to how Kevin returning has anything to do with Jake staying or going (not that he's going anywhere because he isn't). Kevin's return, if it happens, is probably more about widening Luke and Noah's circle of friends. Though if they are thinking of bringing Kevin back, they must have a story in mind involving him, Luke and Noah.JP also said they have thought about giving Noah family or at least widening his own circle so her comments about him weren't as flippant as you'd like to make them out to be.
JP has had a year and a half to develop Noah's character and so far, NOTHING. "Well, he's cute" is an insult to an actor who has given his all to a role but has been given very little credit for the huge success of Nuke. Does JP really think that Jake's popularity is just because "he's cute"? JP doesn't want to write for Noah because to her, he is just an extension of Luke. That isn't likely to change.
It was sad to see Chris go today. It was such a touching scene when he said goodbye to Bob and Kim. Awww...
If you rewatch, you will see a tear fall from Kathryn Hays' eye straight to the ground, during the last couple of seconds of that scene. Kathryn and Don were so great in that scene, and so was Dylan.
The scenes with Chris were definitely the highlight of the show and the best was the final scene with Kim and Bob. I admit they got me teary too. They all made you believe they were really a family and the emotion seemed so real. I'm going to miss Dylan. Today was a reminder of the real chemistry being with Chris/Ali and that is where they should have gone. I did kind of get a feeling of doom when Kim expressed her great fear that something bad was going to happen. I hope that's not foreshadowing because I want Chris back. And I did crack up when Dusty told Paul he must belong to the psyche ward frequent flier program or something to that effect and Paul replied that wasn't funny. And I replied to myself oh yes it is Grayson seems to get a kick out of delivering those zingers to Paul lol.
I had a tough time watching those goodbye scenes, too. We were actually at the studio that day, and I remember Dylan mentioning how he got a little emotional filming the Bob and Kim goodbye stuff. It totally showed! Though, one thing I found funny was the goodbye scene with Ali. I swear there was one point where it looked like Marnie was going to bust out laughing.
And speaking of busting out laughing... yeah, Grayson definitely loves letting those zingers fly.
I had forgotten today was Dylan's last day since I've stopped watching live. I would have liked to have seen it but from the recaps I read I would have had to suffer thru Paul and Meg so I'm glad I didn't watch. I wish Dylan well in his career. There are many characters and actors that should have gone before him that might have saved this show.
I often wonder if Grayson and Roger crack up once they are done with a scene. Grayson is so serious when he lets those zingers rip which makes it all the more funny but I would have to think sometimes they crack up over them too.I'm not surprised that the final scene was emotional for Dylan. It felt like Don and Kathryn were saying goodbye to Dylan and wishing him well too. It seemed so sincere. It just seems so wrong to not have a Christopher Hughes on the show. I really wish they would rethink their decision. I hope he's not gone too long although sadly I imagine it won't be Dylan when he returns.
The Hughes clan is the "first family" of Oakdale and I feel the same way, WT, that there's a need for Chris to be there. And knowing how Grayson can just bust out laughing in interviews when we're talking about Paul and Dusty, I have no doubt that he and Roger totally crack up when the cameras stop rolling. But you wouldn't be able to tell from Dusty's killer poker face, would you? LOL.
Nope you would never tell with that poker face! (Although I wish we got to see that fabulous smile more) That's what makes it even funnier. But it also makes me wonder how Roger is able to keep from cracking up at the time.
This makes me wish that atwt.net would put up periodic blooper reels.
The last blooper reel they have there is from 2006 and I'm sure they've had bloopers since then. It was really funny and I agree they should put them up more often.
Carly, to Janet on 10/16 - "You wanna cookie?" A great line!
Love that line. That was one of the classic lines I have heard in a long time.
Agreed about that line! MIchael Park, Julie Pinson, & Maura West all gave great performances today (as always).
You know I thought soaps didn't do reruns, yet I felt like I've seen the scenes from today's show a thousand times. Actually, I have. How many times has Paul been caught in a lie, denied it, made excuses, Meg leaving him, him begging her to stay, swearing he'll change, she says he won't change and she leaves him. It's just one of the many, many, MANY reasons I can't stand this couple. It's always the same with them. And since they're on our screens 24/7 there's never any relief. Please, if they have to infest our screens all the time, could they at least do something DIFFERENT? Please?
I'm glad to have Grayson back on ATWT, but this Paul vs. Dusty feud never changes and makes them look childish. And this time, it also makes Peg's storyline repetitive. On the brightside, it was nice to see Bonnie/Derek finally back on our screens.I'm really forward to seeing the rest of the week's episodes.
James sitting there at the end, kinda startled me and woke me up....I was already in the mindset that Anthony Herrera's return had already ended. Seeing him made me jump a little !

Please, if they have to infest our screens all the time, could they at least do something DIFFERENT? Please? This kind of repetitive I don't mind so much since they are really good in these dramatic scenes. This story almost seems like a 're-do' of the beginning of the year though. Just with a few different players. Emily and Dusty have taken over the roles of Rosanna and Craig. There is a baby, there is Paul's constant fight with that dark side. There is the threat of losing that baby.I think the difference is the first time, they had the baby die, this time, I do think the baby will be born. I remember after Meg lost the baby, there were rumors swirling about that Paul was going to go crazy and need therapy, well it didn't happen then, but it certainly seems to be happening now and that is where I really hope they go.If they are going to have Paul 'breakdown', do it right. Show all the facets and let us see it. I'd prefer Paul's breakdown BE THE STORY, rather than a plot in the story.

With the exception of Bonnie and Derek, which was a very pleasant surprise, I think like the whole show seemed like a repeat. I enjoyed seeing AH again but been there, done that with story. The Peg scenes have played out so many times and the more often I see them, the less I like them. Give them something different and a break on the backburner for a bit would be welcomed. I find psycho Paul unwatchable. With the exception of Nuke, the whole week looks like it will be recycled stories. When they didn't work the first time you have to wonder why they repeat them?.
Quote:With the exception of Nuke, the whole week looks like it will be recycled stories. When they didn't work the first time you have to wonder why they repeat them?. The fact that everything else is something I've seen a thousand times before is why Luke and Noah's story is the only thing that I really care about right now. At least they're doing something different. And that's a shame because I'm not watching for just them though I love the characters. I've watched this show for over 20 years. I WANT to care about and be interested in the entire show... or at least another story or two, but the writers aren't helping. And since November sweeps don't promise anything new or different for most of the characters/stories, I don't see that changing.
Tired of Paul and Meg. I wish they just disappear in the cellar come back in about 3 years.
ANOTHER boring day. Spencer/Katie/Brad/Henry/V.? Who cares? I don't mind stories we've seen before.. it's unavoidable in soaps. But at least give me a different spin, something to make it interesting. The writers aren't even trying.Umm..... so Janet walked around Oakdale naked except for that raincoat all day? Okay.....I will say that I did enjoy the scene at Yo's between Jack and Janet where she told him she wanted all or nothing. I loved how she stood up for herself and laid it on the line. And she wasn't being scheming or manipulative. She knows she has value and what she's worth. I thought that was great. And JP did a great job. I actually find Jack and Janet appealing as a couple. I love Jack and Carly together as well. I wouldn't mind if the show actually made it a viable triangle, but it's not. My only hope is that Janet isn't ruined in the process. Hopefully she can move onto other love interests with her dignity and character intact.
It was a pretty boring show. And again pretty much a total rerun.I don't get why they do the InTurn contest if they can't come up with better stories for the winner and this one is awful. Does anyone really believe that Brad would totally be ignoring what Katie is saying about this?Jack/Janet were okay as a fling but nothing more. The whole story is a rerun. Today we had the breaking pipe a la Colden. Carly surprised Jack at the OPD in a teddy on Valentine's 2006 but that had a much sexier ending lol. Once again Jack is denying his feelings for Carly by rushing a relationship with another woman. Tomorrow's interrupted proposal is a page out of Kack. The writers aren't even invested enough in the pair to write anything new. I do think there is a good chance Janet will end up going the way of the Julia's if they let this drag on too long. Terri had 9 years with the show so Katie survived. Janet has only been with the show a few months and not even on contract, so if they don't end this quickly and get her into another story soon, it may not have such a good ending for her which would be a shame. She's a more viable character than that. Hopefully they have something else planned.
Janet/Henry/Vienna would be pretty energetic as a triangle....
I hadn't thought about it but I have to agree a Henry/Vienna/Janet triangle could be interesting. I think Trent and Julie work well together. As much as I once loved Henry and Vienna, they're not getting any story so I would love something that would make better use of Trent.
While I liked the kiss that Janet and Henry shared last week, I don't really see a H/V/J triangle happening.
I thought the scenes between Jack and Janet were great today. Janet made it clear that she wasn't going to settle, and Jack opened up to her about his mom and on being a cop.
Since I'm not a Bratie fan, I'm surprised that I'm kinda liking the Spencer storyline. It's great to see Henry and Vienna helping out Katie. Both Ewa and Trent have great comedic timing. I hated how Brad treated Katie though.
I enjoyed the show today, I thought Maura and Noelle did a great job with the "proceed with caution" angle. And the Luke, Noah, Alison, Casey election story introduction was good as well. And I'm especially glad for the Van and Jake "CBS Cares" announcement at the end of the show because it was a nice touch.
It was a nice start to the election story and hopefully it works out well. It's nice to see more characters interacting.
I thought the Carly/Lily scenes were good and that they were still hesitant. If the show wants to rebuild their friendship, they need to go slowly to make it work. It was nice to hear Lily on Carly's side however.
The whole proposal wasn't as bad as I expected since with the Holden/Jack conversation it became clear that Jack really had no desire to marry Janet. This really isn't what he wants. He felt guilty after listening to Liberty and then Janet and that is why he did it. Too bad Janet became so afraid of turning into that old lady that she decided to settle because she knows she will never have all of Jack. If she was honest with herself, she would admit he isn't ready to marry her. And thankfully from previews it sounds like others will be questioning why Jack is doing this. My money is on no wedding happening. Funny that Jack was asking Aaron for marital advice
Today's show left me with the feeling that Carly and Jack are far from over....and that Jack will realize it before too long, but it'll be too late. Also I'm wondering if down the road, they might try to pair up (spoiler warning)...........Janet and Craig, since Jon Lindstrom is to be on air as Craig by December. Julie and Jon are great together, so that makes me wonder if eventually Craig might be in this mix. OF course this is just speculating without knowing anything.
My thoughts...
Why is Holden and Jack talking like Holden's affair with Carly was years ago? It was little more than a month. And I'm sorry... I do NOT buy they would be able to talk about it so casually. It's so OOC. The show wants to pretend it never happened and it's not working for me. It's the same with Lily and Carly. I cannot buy the civility between them... and that they'd be discussing men. It wasn't that long ago that Lily wanted to run Carly down with her car.
Loved Janet's fantasy.
BTW, Liberty, butt out. Sixteen year olds have no business running around giving input on their parents love lives.
Noah's hair. What happened to it? He let the stylists get to it! It used to be so nice and neat. It's a mess.
Kevin seemed to accept Luke running against them awfully easily. He didn't seem upset or even bothered. I found his reaction kind of strange. Not sure what Kevin's deal is. Is he just a good guy trying to do the right thing or is there more to it? One thing is for sure, Kevin is not the bad guy people think he is. Maybe he never was.
Either Noah is being paranoid and jealous or Luke is not being honest (including with himself) when he says this campaign is not about Kevin. I get the sense that it is about Kevin, in part anyway.
Ummm..... shouldn't Kevin know Ali? He's known Luke his whole life. Ali and Luke have known each other most of their lives. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have met at least once. Then again, Luke hasn't seen Kevin in over a year... and they go to the same school.....
Hmmm... so Luke decided to run and didn't bother to tell his BF? Noah was upset (though he shouldn't be shocked because they did discuss it at length), but if I were Luke, I'd remind Noah how he decided to marry Ameera and told Luke about AFTER he'd made his decision. BTW, I liked the Ameera mention and Casey's reminding the audience about his 'relationship' with Luke. Oh, and Mark needs to come up with better gay slurs. But I guess it's sanitized for daytime.
Where were Henry and V.? I can't believe they'd let that go on at the diner or that anyone who works there would. I mean, it's a restaurant, not a town hall. Don't they have places on campus for meetings such as that?
I'm enjoying the interaction and the number of characters being pulled into the storyline. And we'll only see more players involved as we go along as the story gets bigger and bigger. I've seen folks complaining about that... and I don't get it. Either we want Luke and Noah out of their bubbles and involved with other folks or we don't, which is it?
Aaron's leaving Oakdale. I can see it coming.
Good show. It was mostly set up for what's to come, but there are lots and lots of seeds planted.
The PSA was a nice touch... but Noah/Jake's hair was worse in that!
Oh and Ali and Casey make good friends.... but they have no chemistry. Sorry. Please don't try to force it.
Tomorrow: Oh it's Paul acting crazy! Yay! And Em's getting what she deserves regarding Dusty. Good. Holden advising Carly about Jack? Please!
Ali and Luke never really did interact so I don't find it hard to believe that Kevin wouldn't know her. When Kevin was last on the show, Ali was in Seattle. And I can't think of Jessica Dunphy's Ali ever really interacting much with Luke as he was much younger then Ah the wonders of sorasing lol.I actually do think Ali and Casey have chemistry but it needs to go very slowly and just as friends for quite awhile.I also definitely got the vibe today that Aaron is headed out of town. They have totally wasted Aaron's return.
Quote:The PSA was a nice touch... but Noah/Jake's hair was worse in that! Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought criticism of an actor's physical appearance wasn't allowed on this board. It seems a little cruel and superficial, even if that isn't the intention, at least to me.
I don't think AnthonyL meant to be cruel about Noah/Jake's hair, but if you did, Anthony... :::wags finger::: And, hey, we did spend several posts cracking jokes at the expense of Grayson's hair and beard, and there were no complaints about superficiality then!Plus, ATWT's hair department tends to be pretty on the ball (they're Emmy winners, after all!), so maybe they were going for a specific look?

Me? Cruel? Hardly.
No one complained about remarks about Grayson's hair and beard. I guess it's not what you say, but who you say it about!
But, FTR, I happen to think that Jake Silbermann is smoking hot so I don't want anything to distract me from that beautiful mug of his! If that makes me superficial, so be it! LOL!
Well, since criticizing hairstyles is apparently OK now, here goes:(I'll limit it to only characters/actors in the Luke/Noah story since I'm only watching via YouTube now.)I love Jake. I love Noah. I don't like when they gel up his hair though like in this weeks episode. I do however like the unkept longer hair look for Jake in the PSA (much like the mushroom camping trip where his hair was longer.......and that scruffy look sends me over the top, they should do that more often.)I like Van's new hairstyle but HATE THE SIDEBURNS. Is he channeling Elvis? I like shorter hair on Van. I hated Allison's hairstyle on this weeks episode. Was she channeling Nancy Drew?I love Billy and like the shorter hair than when he first came on but like Van, HATE THE SIDEBURNS.As for Dusty, I like him with hair much more than the shaved look before. He is really attractive with longer hair. But like Van and Billy, HATE THE SIDEBURNS.
SarahC, there is no question of hairstyle criticizing (of the non-bashing variety) being okay "now" when it was clearly okay before.
That said, this is still an episode discussion thread, not a hair and fashion one, so let's try to stay on topic.
It was good to see some scenes between Margo and Katie today, since they're sisters. And about the previews for next week, does anybody remember the "Snyder Hillbillies" episode? Were he on the show at the time, Noah would've made the perfect Jethro.
And, one more thing, if Carly/Jack were over, I doubt they'd be showing flashbacks.
Nope Jake wasn't on the show when they the Hillbillie episode. That was done back in 2006. Although they did look adorable in the preview . I'm really looking forward to next week though .
Quote:And, one more thing, if Carly/Jack were over, I doubt they'd be showing flashbacks. Exactly. It was like showing how good it could be instead of what we are getting. I can't understand why the writers are taking this direction. I've watched forever and even I am seriously contemplating taking a break. We've seen this story way too many times already. I know the writers think it's great to kick Carly when she's down but come on. And while I had been liking Janet, now I can't stand her or Liberty for that matter. And this whole thing just makes Jack look like a jerk again when he finally seemed to have turned a corner.I finally had to FF through most of the Brad/Katie/Spencer stuff. That story is beyond stupid.Sadly I didn't see anything that interested me in the previews.
There's quite a bit in the previews I'm looking forward to, the election story interests me, and (spoiler below)...........Lucinda's upcoming cancer recurrence interests me, because I know she'll knock it out of the park, and it will create scenes for other characters too.....and my guess (again, GUESS) is that with Jon Lindstrom coming as Craig, maybe Craig and Janet will start having some scenes down the road. Jon and Julie do great work together, and I hope ATWT takes advantage of that.
I thought the election story had potential until I read the spoilers for the twist with Alison in particular and Casey and that part just disgusts me. I can't believe a woman writes this show. And I saw the first time this was done with Lucinda and it was so poorly handled I just don't have faith that they will do any better this time.

Quote:I thought the election story had potential until I read the spoilers for the twist with Alison in particular and Casey and that part just disgusts me. I can't believe a woman writes this show. The misogyny of this show--by a woman, about women, ostensibly a piece of entertainment aimed at women--is astonishing. The vague homophobia that surrounds the gay storyline is one thing--at least I understand why the show is afraid of showing a gay couple realistically. But what harm could possibly come from treating women with respect?I don't think I can even watch what they're going to do to Ali next week. JP should be ashamed of herself.
I do think the election storyline has potential, but I just wish it were more about Luke and Noah. I do want more Luke and Noah interaction with other characters, but I don't want them to be props for other characters. They are already turning into supporting players in their own story. Wasn't this supposed to be about them? I want to know why Noah is reacting badly to Luke wanting to be elected. I haven't seen anything to indicate why it would be a major problem. This storyline needs to progress more naturally and more slowly and given more than one day. Instead it looks like it's going to become a Casey/Alison lovefest. If Alison, Casey, Mark, and Kevin all get more screentime than Luke and Noah, how is it about them? Luke and Noah are still stuck in a bubble because Casey/Alison/Kevin/Mark have all had more scenes with each other than Luke and Noah have. Plus Noah is still on the sidelines. I just don't know why the show makes promises they apparently can't keep. Why is Lucinda so in love with Brian? I have seen an article saying that we will be shocked by upcoming events involving Brian. It will be more shocking than when Laurence Lau's character's love interest died on the previous show he was on.
Quote:Noah would've made the perfect Jethro.
Heh, especially since we know how clueless the boy can be! I gotta say though he's driving me to distraction. It was bad enough earlier this week when he made Luke feel guilty about his running for president when they had clearly discussed it at length so Noah should not have been surprised to hear the news. And that promo clip made it clear he doesn't believe Luke when he says this not about Kevin. Luke looked really hurt by that. He deserves better.
I must say though this show has had better weeks. I wouldn't call myself a huge Carly/Jack fan, but I've always liked the couple and I think Micheal and Maura are wonderful together...... but the way Jack treated Carly was awful. I just couldn't believe some of the things he said to her. I reminded me of when she showed up at the farm in that little black dress and Jack went to the house and ripped Carly a new one. But Carly didn't deserve that this time. It wasn't right the way he he spoke to her, especially since he stayed in that hotel room with her. If he really wanted it done, he would've left as soon as he knew Janet wouldn't show up. But to stay and drink and have fun with Carly.... what did he think would happen? And then to run to Janet and propose made him seem like a jerk and a user. Janet is an idiot for going with a man she KNOWS was going to bed his former wife just a few days ago. And Carly? Seeing her drinking alone (which really doesn't seem like something Carly would do, IMO) made me wonder why she's going through all this for a guy who would treat her so poorly.
Not that I want to go on and on about this in a thread that's not supposed to be about airtime, but the most recent spoilers I've seen more than indicate that Luke will be much more than people are complaining about this coming week, at least 2 or 3 days. That doesn't sound like he's a supporting player in his own storyline to me. Seems as if the show said we'd be seeing more of them for this storyline and indications are that's the case.
Luke is absolutely not a supporting player in his own story This is very much an arc that he is the linchpin for. Ali and Casey having a significant portion of scenes coming up does not somehow negate that. What happens with them directly ties into what happens to Luke.

The JP interview makes me think Kevin is a possibility to return in case Jake finally leaves the show. That seems plausible since it doesn't seem JP is interested in developing Noah's character even after he has been so popular after a year and a half on the show. "Well, he's cute" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for character development."Fan reaction" will determine Kevin's return? That's odd since fans have been screaming for more Noah for months now.Mala, any chance you could get an interview with Jake? I want to know what he did with all his spare time during the summer and what other projects he is working on. The interviews with Van are nice but there is another half to the Nuke couple that some of us are more interested in.
