Help me out. I'm no doctor, but I am a woman who has had friends miscarry.
Isn't it true that if a fetus dies in-utero, or is miscarried a DNC is absolutely necessary to the health of the mother? If this is true, and they are playing it the least bit true, she should be experiencing some infection by now, shouldn't she?
Anyone else seeing that, besides being a totally creepy storyling, it is way off base medically?

In a lot of cases you would be right, but were this proceedure is not done the doctor usually keeps a close eye on the woman if she should get pregnant again. But like you I am not a medical practioner either but I know my daughter had one recently and the doctor is keeping a close eye on her now that she is expecting again.
Still I think that Ash is preggers with twins or more. She's getting bigger...and how can that be with Echo in there? Unless it's an infection...doesn't seem all that much like a hysterical pregnancy...
Hey baby cakes remember that ultra sound was a fake, but I tend to agree with you. However there is a disorder where a women can go through the term even though there is no baby. Saw it on the show called The Mentalist. So who really knows, but we are about to be set up with the possibility of a switch because I think Billy gets Ashly committed to the same place Sharon is so the count down now begins.
and let's not forget that Lisa on ATWT had a hysterical pregnancy. Seriously tho Gram, why would she STILL be that big. I don't think this may go the way that wethink. It is just off from the norm. She and Shareums do look to be just as far along though.....
Apparently it does really happen. They apparently go through every stage of a pregnancy up to and including labor and supposed birth. Actually the girl who portayed the girl on the show was Heather Thom's sister, the twin to the original Billy.
I am no medical professional by any means but I think the writers are wanting us to suspend disbelief by having us think that Ashley's miscarriage (when Ashley bled all over the Newman living room and Adam cleaned it up) was sufficient enough. Maybe she went to a doctor off camera, but if she didn't I think thats kind of sloppy writing. There was a miscarriage story on GL a few years ago where Annie miscarried but she did NOT go to a doctor because she wanted everyone to believe that Reva pushing her down a flight of stairs caused her miscarriage. That was a huge story point. As it turns out, she framed Reva and actually pushed herself down a flight of stairs and she waited too long to have the surgery that she ended up collapsing in the courtroom and it left her barren.

Hi Ashley -When I first came to the boards, I offered up many solutions/explanations for the storylines currently running. I am leaning more toward my "Matrix solution.""This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill -- the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill -- you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes."Most of us here took the red pill, and now regret it. And you are right - this "hysterical" pregnancy has no value to it truth wise. It is, as it were, rather hysterical.
