AMC Week of May 18, 2009
Monday
On a dark and stormy night at the Chandler mansion, Zach and Kendall
separately pointed guns at Adam. Tad entered and saw someone with gun in
hand. David entered and pointed his own gun. Aidan, Krystal and Opal
convened outside and heard a gunshot. Adam fell to the floor. Jesse
approached with two other cops and called in to headquarters that he had a
body in the living room that had been shot. Ryan found Kendall
and tried to whisk her away, telling her that Ian is alive and needs her.
They hurried off. Aidan creeped into the house, saw some blood and headed
upstairs. A mystery woman in heels saw the same blood and fled. Jesse heard
someone on the terrace and when he saw the person trying to leave, he shot
at them, assuming it was the killer fleeing the scene. Jesse was aghast to
discover that he had accidentally shot Tad in the head.
Jesse called for an ambulance. Scott, Opal and Krystal were horrified to see
Adam's body. Opal and Krystal went onto the terrace and both women became
nearly hysterical when they saw Tad bleeding on the ground. "Dad! Dad!"
bellowed JR as he entered the living room. Scott broke the news that Adam
was dead. JR accused Scott of being responsible, then tore off in search of
Little Adam. Upstairs, Aidan questioned Little A about where Emma had gone.
JR burst into the nursery and threw his arms around his son. He grabbed
Aidan and told him, and an entering Colby, that Annie had kidnapped Emma and
killed Adam. Aidan left via the open window and Jesse tore after him,
leaving Krystal and Opal to apply pressure to Tad's wound. JR told Jesse
that Annie is who shot Adam. Jesse decided to search the tunnels. JR was
upset to see Tad being wheeled out. Opal blamed him for the shooting. Jesse
asked JR what Tad was doing with "this" (a gun). Zach continued to lurk
nearby but was spotted and apprehended by a cop.... Colby wept and called
out for her daddy. JR remained convinced that Annie was responsible. Scott
wasn't so sure; Zach was his suspect of choice. Zach told the police that he
shot Adam because Adam killed his son. "Your son isn't dead, Zach," Jesse
told him. Zach was thrilled and wanted to leave, but Jesse restrained him
and continued to interrogate him. Jesse didn't buy Zach's account of how the
crime had occurred. In the parlor, meanwhile, Scott pointed out that
everybody present, save for Colby, had a motive to kill Adam. Krystal
thought that Zach was obviously guilty. JR speculated that Krystal was
responsible. Krystal countered that JR might have shot Adam, upsetting
Colby. JR also pointed a finger at David; Krystal defended him. JR divulged
that the gun he'd been holding was David's. Little Adam blurted out that
David had been at the house that night there to see Adam, no less.
At the hospital, Ryan told Kendall that Zach killed Adam, while David
informed Gayle that Adam was dead and asked her to tell the cops that they
(he and Gayle) had been together all night. Gayle told David that in return,
she wanted to spend the night with him for real. He kissed her and assured
her, "Soon." Angie explained to Kendall how they had been able to revive
Ian. Kendall was overjoyed. Angie gave much credit to Jake for performing a
miracle. When Ryan and Kendall reconvened and she heard that someone with a
gunshot wound was hospital-bound (really Tad), she panicked that Adam may be
alive and could tell the cops that he'd seen her at the manse with a gun.
Ryan vowed that that wouldn't happen.... Tad arrived at the hospital and
Jake and Angie went to work to revive him. Ryan heard one of the cops
talking and realized that Emma had been kidnapped.... Kendall explained to
Ian why she and Zach had sought vengeance against Adam. Ryan entered and
told her that Adam was dead, explaining that Tad was the person who'd been
wounded. He also told Kendall that Annie had taken Emma.... The doctor set
to perform Tad's surgery warned Jake and David that the surgery to remove
Tad's bullet could change his personality permanently.... Erica was
surprised to see that Kendall was at Ian's side. She noted that she'd gotten
calls earlier because neither Kendall nor Zach could be located. Kendall
fibbed that she'd gone to the roof for some air. For her part, Erica claimed
that she'd been taking a hot bath. Kendall told Erica that Adam was dead.
From Erica's calm reaction, Kendall deduced that she already knew.... Angie
and Jake tried to reassure Opal that Tad would make it through surgery.
Aidan returned to the basement looking for Annie, who wasn't there. Annie's
passport, however, still was.
Determined to find Emma, Ryan punched out a cop who tried to block his
entrance to the Chandler manse.... A secret door in the mansion went
undetected by a detective.... Jesse told Zach that he would wait patiently
for Zach to tell him the truth....
Tuesday
Opal fretted as Tad was wheeled into surgery. Angie and Jake tried to
reassure her that Tad would be fine. David reported that Tad was in good
hands. Before long, David returned to say that surgery was complete. A
still-unconscious Tad thought about the night of the murder, including
seeing Kendall. He also thought about Kathy.
Kendall could tell that Erica had previous knowledge of Adam's murder. She
asked La Kane if she had been at the mansion when Adam was killed. Kendall
advised Erica to conceal her muddy shoes. Kendall learned that Ryan and Zach
were both in custody. Kendall had to go to the station for questioning and
declined Erica's offer to call Jack to represent her.
Little Adam told JR that David had been to the house that night to see Adam,
revealing Krystal's lie. Ryan barged in to Jesse's interrogation of Zach at
the manse to demand an update on Emma's kidnapping. Jesse had Ryan
handcuffed for giving Zach a false alibi. Before dragging Ryan away, Lavery
told Zach that Ian was "hanging in there." JR told Jesse that he should be
arresting David, not Zach. JR told Jesse about seeing David with the gun and
knocking him out, about letting Krystal run out of the room, and about his
own confrontation with Adam in which he'd aimed a gun at his dad. Jesse
asked why JR would do that. "Because he murdered my mother," replied JR. JR
said that after Tad interrupted them, JR got increasingly drunk and then was
doused with water by a woman, who he thought wasn't Annie even though he had
seen her earlier. Scott and Colby, with heavy hearts, tended to Little A
nearby. Jesse asked Krystal about her own experience that night. Krystal
swore her own innocence, and David's. Jesse took her shoes into evidence and
told her not to leave town. Scott told Natalia that he may now be the head
of Chandler but that he would never have killed his uncle for that reason.
JR got to the hospital in time to hear the surgeon who performed the
operation on Tad explain that there were likely to be changes in Tad based
on the bullet having struck the frontal lobe, which affects personality and
motor function. Krystal showed up and David updated her on Tad's condition.
Krystal asked him if he killed David. "Someone beat me to it," David said.
She told David what she had told Jesse and declined David's offer of an
alibi, telling David that she didn't do it. David thought Zach's confession
made sense.... JR tried to lighten the mood in the waiting room by assuring
Opal and Angie that at least Tad's libido would remain intact.... David told
Krystal that he still loves her.... Jake approached JR about identifying the
body for the police records.
Kendall arrived at the police station and saw Zach in handcuffs. "I killed
Adam," Zach told her after getting an update on Ian. Jesse grilled Kendall,
who insisted that she had never left the hospital at the time of the murder.
Ryan let Jesse go on the condition that he promised to go straight home.
Zach was stunned when Liza looking very pregnant showed up to serve as
his lawyer. Meanwhile, Kendall went back to the hospital and
Ryan got a voicemail from Annie, and heard on the message a gunshot and Emma
screaming. He realized that Annie and Emma had still been in the house at
the time of the murder.
Scott opened a backpack in front of Colby in the parlor and wondered, "What
is this doing here?"
Erica approached JR outside of the morgue and told him he didn't have to
identify the body alone. He accepted her hand and together, they went
inside. When the doctor pulled back the sheet, JR was confused. "Oh, God,"
he said. "Oh, my God, that's not my dad."
Angie and Jesse reunited at the hospital and he melted into her arms.
Tad woke up as Jake, Opal and Krystal looked on. Tad threw them all for a
loop by bursting into hysterical laughter.
Annie sang a lullabye to Annie, who was snoozing on her lap. The camera
panned across the room to an unconscious Adam.
Wednesday
At the hospital after his surgery, Tad burst into hysterical laughter as Opal, Jake, Krystal, Angie and Jesse looked on. Tad was surprised to hear that he'd taken a bullet to the head. Tad cracked jokes to the doc and his family. Jesse asked him if he remembered anything about the events of that night and copped to having shot him. Tad continued to tell jokes, which ultimately began to concern his loved ones.
At the morgue, JR and Erica were stunned when they realized that Stuart, not Adam, had been killed. Erica observed that the killer thought it was Adam when they had shot Stuart.
At the hospital, Kendall accused David of being happy that Zach took the fall for Adam's murder. Erica entered and told David and Krystal that no one was going to take the fall for Adam's death. She broke the news about Stuart. David wondered "where the hell" Adam was and rushed out. Krystal found David throwing a fit and David told her it was Stuart who had died. Erica, meanwhile, got Kendall to admit that she had been at the mansion that night. Erica confessed that she, too, had been at the house and that she had seen Zach standing over the body.
At the police station, Zach was thrown when Liza (looking very pregnant) showed up to serve as his lawyer. She finally revealed her name to Zach. Zach noted that Liza wasn't really pregnant but she wouldn't explain the baby bump. After dismissing Liza, Zach wrote a letter to his son.
JR was happy to see Tad awake. He requested a moment alone with Jesse. "Oh, my God," said Jesse when JR filled him in about what had happened in the morgue. Angie and Jake returned with the bad news about Stuart.
At the Chandler manse, Scott found Stuart's clothes in a backpack and expressed to Colby his confusion over why it would be there. Scott fretted to Colby that finding out about Adam's death would destroy Stuart. Scott left to go see Stuart at the gatehouse. When JR called and Colby told him where Scott had gone, JR gently noted that Scott wouldn't find Stuart there. Scott came back and Colby told him that JR wants him to meet him at the hospital. Colby started crying and Scott ran out. Liza came to see Colby,
who was stunned by her mother's seemingly delicate condition. Colby told Liza that Adam is still alive; Liza was stunned. Next, she went to see Tad, telling him that she was pregnant via a sperm donor. Tad surprised Liza by drawing her into a kiss.
In the Chandler attic, Annie tried to slip out with Emma but Adam begged her not to leave him alone. He didn't remember how he had ended up there so Annie filled in the blanks, reporting that she had heard one of the cops say that someone had been killed. Adam pleaded with Annie to take him with her. Downstairs, Adam saw the crime scene and begged to leave with Emma and Annie.
Jesse told Zach that it was Stuart who had died. Jesse continued to doubt Zach's guilt. "Who are you protecting, Kendall?" he queried. Zach stuck to his story.
At the penthouse, Ryan realized that Annie and Emma had been at the mansion during the murder and ran out. He accosted Aidan when he found him in the hallway, demanding to know Annie's whereabouts. Aidan replied that he didn't know. Ryan raced to the mansion to search it for Annie. Natalia blocked him from entering but ultimately relented and joined his efforts. Ryan found the
secret stairs leading to the attic, where he and Natalia found Emma's stuffed animal. When they came back downstairs, Colby told them that it was Stuart who had been murdered.
Annie and Emma got back to the basement with Adam. Aidan showed up and was stunned to see Adam. From Aidan's reaction, it dawned on Adam that Stuart was dead. A devastated Adam promptly had a heart attack.
At the morgue, JR broke the bad news to Scott. Scott burst into the room and wept over his dad's body. Scott suggested to JR that Adam set Stuart up to be killed. JR denied it. If it wasn't true, postulated Scott, where was Adam? Scott vowed to make Adam pay.
Thursday
Liza had a hard time keeping Tad in his hospital bed as they reminisced
about their past together. She told him he really lived up to his nickname,
Tad The Cad, when he was dating both her and her mother at the same time.
Liza feared how Marian would react to the loss of Stuart. Amanda entered and
Liza re-introduced herself, marveling at how she's grown. Liza excused
herself and Tad told Amanda he's glad his brother loves her. Tad warned her
to get away from David while she still can. Amanda said she'd love to start
a family with Jake but he hasn't proposed. "A mere formality," laughed Tad.
JR tried to convince Scott that Adam would never purposely put Stuart in
harm's way but Scott didn't believe that claim. He went back into the morgue
to view his father's body while JR offered to wait. Alone with Stuart, Scott
said, "I'm sorry, Dad." He then recalled a special poem that Stuart would
recite to him as a child and asked for his guidance. He then told Stuart
that he loved him, and kissed him on the forehead. Scott exited and found JR
waiting for him. Scott sat down in silence and as he wept, JR took his
cousin into his arms and held him.
Annie told resuscitated Adam that his heart stopped but she got it going
again. Annie urged Adam to get to a hospital; Aidan would take
him. Aidan asked Annie why he should help her now. Annie admitted that she's
made a mess of things but said she needed his help.
Back at the hospital, Krystal wanted to know if David was after Adam. Angie
entered and said David's never spoken a true word in his life. Angie pulled
out a pill vial of Adam's heart meds, claimed the prescription was a forgery
and accused him of drugging Adam with toxic pills. After Angie stormed out,
Krystal realized that David had been "dosing" Adam. David admitted it was
true. Krystal begged him to stop for his own good. Just then, David got
called into the emergency room to treat Adam.
JR rushed into the ER and demanded to know where Adam had been, as David
looked on. Adam wanted to know why JR didn't shoot him when he had the
chance. JR stated that no matter what, he still loves his dad. David
returned to Krystal, who advised him to leave town before Angie learns the
truth. David refused, saying he'd never give up his claim to Amanda's baby.
Emma told Annie that she was proud of her mom for saving Adam's life but
admitted that she missed her daddy. Annie called Ryan and told him to meet
her at the penthouse alone. Jesse was suspicious when Ryan rushed off
without a word. Aidan was furious to find Annie gone when he returned after
getting Adam to the hospital.
At the penthouse, Ryan was overjoyed to reunite with Emma. Aidan tracked
them down, and Annie admitted to them both that the ordeal with Adam changed
her mind about running away with Emma. Aidan told Ryan how Annie's CPR saved
Adam's life. Annie said she wants Emma to be proud of her always and
realized that she needs to stop her scheming. Annie asked Ryan to give her
the chance to say good-bye to Emma. Ryan consented. After her visit with her
daughter, and with Aidan by her side, Annie called the police to turn
herself in.
In the hospital hall, Liza admitted to Jake that her "pregnancy" could be
his ticket to keep David away from Amanda's baby. Jake replied that Liza
should stay out of Amanda's business. Liza returned to Amanda and quizzed
her about her pregnancy, then shared that she reached Marian, who took the
news of Stuart's death terribly hard. She said she'll be sticking around
Pine Valley for a while and smiled.
Angie and Jake confronted David with proof of the bad meds that David
prescribed for Adam. Jake advised David to get an attorney.... Tad tried
getting up but collapsed in the hall.... Jesse arrived at the hospital and
interrogated Adam. When Adam learned that Stuart had been killed, he grew
hysterical, screaming, "No! No!" JR tried to comfort Adam but he was
inconsolable. On his way out, Jesse bumped into Liza in the hall and cut to
the chase: "Where were you when Stuart Chandler was shot?" he asked.
Friday
Gayle protested as Tad danced her down the hallway. When Tad collapsed, Jake
rushed to his side. Once conscious, Tad protested against Jake's concern
about his personality change.
Colby approached Scott and expressed her sorrow over his loss.... In his
hospital bed, Adam wept over Stuart's demise. JR tried to console him. Adam
blamed himself for Stuart's death. JR proposed that Stuart's death might
give Adam a second chance at being a better man. Scott entered and told Adam
that the wrong man died. Adam didn't disagree.
Jesse and Liza ran into other in the hallway at the hospital. Noting their
troubled past, Jesse asked Liza where she was at the time of Stuart's
murder. She acknowledged that she had gone to the mansion but insisted that
Colby hadn't let her in. Liza then asked an offended Colby to cover for her
with Jesse. She insisted to Colby that she was innocent and only wanted a
relationship with her daughter. Colby then rushed in to see her father; they
shared a tearful reunion. Adam told Colby and JR that he needed to see
Stuart. He became agitated and Colby ran to fetch a nurse. Once Adam was
stabilized, Adam begged JR to take him to Stuart.
At the police station, Annie was handcuffed to a bench. Also handcuffed to a
chair, Zach noted her and Annie told him that she had turned herself in. She
told Zach about how she had saved Adam's life. Zach then met with the D.A.,
sticking to his story about having killed Stuart.
At the hospital, Kendall had a nightmare about the night Stuart was
murdered. When she woke up, Ryan was standing there and told her he knew
what she had been dreaming about. Ryan tried to get her to tell him about
the night of the murder but she changed the subject to Ian's improving
health. Jesse approached Ryan and they discussed Annie. Jesse speculated to
Ryan that Zach had confessed to protect Kendall. Jesse then told Colby he
wanted to talk to her about her mother.
Liza saw Jake and told him that Amanda's baby is the key to her rebuilding
her relationship with Colby. Jake, who was understandably upset that she was
blackmailing him, was not sympathetic. She accused him of being bitter about
not being Colby's father. He denied it, then wondered if she killed Stuart.
Marian wept in the Chandler living room, gazing at the blood stain on the
carpet. Scott helped her to her feet and they embraced warmly. They shared
their memories of her fallen husband/his fallen stepfather.
At Zach's request, Ryan came to see him at the police station. Zach informed
Ryan that he was being arraigned that afternoon and implored Ryan to keep
Kendall far, far away from him. He added a request that Ryan tell the boys
that he loves them. Meanwhile, a nurse informed Kendall that according to
the news, Zach's arraignment was that afternoon. When Zach saw Kendall at
the courthouse, he told her that she shouldn't be there. She replied that
she wasn't going anywhere and told her to raise their kids with Ryan. When
Ryan arrived, Kendall realized that Zach had confessed because he thinks she
killed Stuart and that Ryan thought so, too.
JR and Scott watched from outside the morgue as Adam paid a final, emotional
farewell to Stuart.
Jesse confronted Liza, telling her that he knew after speaking to Colby that
she lied to him. "I did not kill Stuart, but I know who did," she told him.
