AMC Week of March 16, 2009
Monday
At ConFusion, Randi reeled as she and Frank discussed him having to redeploy to Iraq. He assured her of his love but she pulled away from his kiss. He insisted that he would return to her despite her fears. Angie and Jesse entered and Angie noted that they couldn't stop Frank from going back into combat. Jesse said all they could do was let him go. "All of you are crazy for thinking that this is okay," bellowed Randi, who then took off. Frank's parents tried to console him as he spoke of letting Randi go in order to spare her the pain of possibly losing him. Angie excused herself to speak to Randi and urged the girl to be patient and to stick with Frankie, "to give him something to come home to." Meanwhile, Frank argued to Jesse that him giving up Randi was akin to Jesse leaving town to protect him and Angie. Jesse countered that Frank was copping out. Angie returned to the table and she and Jesse decided to leave to give Frank and Randi some space. Randi rejoined Frank and told him that she loved him and would wait for him — but, she clarified, she wanted to marry him before he left.
Amanda asked Jake to help her with her baby quandary, noting that she wanted to find a loving family to adopt the child. Of David, she said, "He won't look for the baby if he thinks it's dead." She wanted Jake to assist her in faking a death certificate and mapped out her whole plan, which involved them leaving town together, him inducing labor, the baby being given up for adoption and them returning to Pine Valley with a counterfeit death certificate. Jake thought that the plan was insane but she begged him to consider it. He held her when she started weeping. Once alone, Amanda spoke
to her baby, promising that she was going to find it wonderful parents. "I will do anything I can to keep you safe," she told the unborn tot.
David and Krystal consulted with his attorney about getting physical custody of Little A. Krystal balked when the lawyer proposed getting Adam arrested for kidnapping and she remained uncomfortable at the thought of painting JR as a neglectful parent. In the end, Krystal agreed to do whatever it took to keep Little Adam safe. She raised the issue of Amanda's baby again and David
continued to insist that he didn't care about it. She demanded a legal document stating that he wouldn't pursue custody of the baby and threatened to withdraw her support for his custody bid for Little A if he didn't comply.
At the casino, Aidan confronted Pete about how he hacked into the Cambias system on Ryan's behalf. Aidan told Pete that he wanted Pete to continue helping Ryan, then report to him about Ryan's activities. Pete agreed when Aidan offered cash and his silence to Zach and Kendall. Aidan left and when Colby returned to the table, Pete told her they were going out for lobster.
At Fusion, Ryan covered that he'd been looking at confidential Cambias records when Kendall entered. She asked Ryan what was wrong with her that she wasn't fighting for her marriage. Ryan tried to convince Kendall that Zach was solely to blame for the problems in the Slater union. Kendall observed that Ryan genuinely hates Zach.
Jake was rude to Krystal when she tried to get an update on Amanda's condition. Krystal insisted that she had only divulged the true paternity of Amanda's baby because she was trying to do the right thing. Jake told her she was no longer welcome at the hospital. Back at Wildwind, David presented Krystal with the documents she had requested.
Zach read Bianca's letter to Reese in her room at the casino. Reese broke down in tears. Zach left and met up with Aidan downstairs. Aidan filled him in on his conversation with Pete. Zach asked Aidan what had made him sleep with Kendall. As Aidan struggled for an answer, Reese appeared in the doorway. Zach led her away and Kendall arrived in time to see it. "It's true, isn't it?" she asked Aidan. "Reese and Zach are having an affair." Aidan said that he didn't know. She opened up to Aidan about how she felt as
though she had lost faith in her marriage vows even before her coma. Upstairs back in her room, Zach told Reese that he wanted to stay out of her life in order to protect her. Upset, Reese told him to get out now. He did. When someone knocked on the door, she thought it was Zach and apologized for kicking him out, explaining that she wanted him to stay but was scared to lose another person. But her visitor wasn't Zach, it was Aidan, who got an earful. He left without revealing his true identity.
At ConFusion, Colby urged Pete not to waste his money on her as they supped on an extravagant meal. Colby wanted answers as to the change in his financial situation and he said that he was exploring his options. Ryan arrived and Colby asked if his new boss knew about this. Pete approached Ryan and offered his computer assistance; Ryan turned him down and returned home to Emma, who asked him if he was working against "the bad people" who had hurt Greenlee. Jesse stopped by and told Ryan, "I think they found Greenlee."
Zach came to the house to kiss the boys good night. Kendall told Zach that she misses him. She apologized for having pushed him away and said that she wanted him back. When he suggested that it might be too late, she accused him of having slept with Reese. "I didn't," he said. "But I wanted to."
Tuesday
At the penthouse, Jesse informed Ryan that he thinks that Greenlee's body has been found.
At ConFusion, Randi told Frank that she wanted to marry him. Frank said that he couldn't because even if he came home alive, the war would leave him a changed man.
At the Slater house, Kendall wept to Zach that she wanted him back. Zach admitted to Kendall that while he didn't sleep with Reese, he had wanted to. The argument that ensued was interrupted by a call from Ryan, who told Kendall that he was heading to Connecticut to identify Greenlee's body. By the time she got off the phone, Zach was gone.
Reese, thinking that Zach and not Aidan was in her room, gave Aidan an earful about her feelings for Zach. Aidan left, confused, then waited at the casino bar for Zach to return. When he did, Aidan told him that Ryan's hacker now worked for them. Zach went back to Reese's room and asked Reese what they should do now that their respective marriages were over. Zach reeked with self-hatred and Reese said that she wished she could change that. They embraced. Later, Reese could make out a slight glimmer of light and shared the joyous news with Zach.
Brot and Taylor shared some wine at B.J.'s. Taylor tried to get Brot to open up about the reaction he'd had to the fire at Opal's house. Brot was mad at himself for having hesitated but Taylor assured him that his actions had been heroic. Frank came to tell them that he is redeploying. Brot and Taylor tried to dissuade Frank from dumping Randi. Jesse joined Randi at ConFusion to discuss her predicament with Frank with her. While Frank and Brot talked things over at B.J.'s, Taylor went to ConFusion to offer her point of view to Randi. She assured Randi that she thinks Frank made a huge mistake, and that Brot agrees. Randi was settling her bill when Frank returned. He explained that he was trying to give her an out. "Too late," she replied. Frank told Randi that he liked the sound of them spending their lives together. When Taylor rejoined Brot, he told her that Frank was going to get engaged. Taylor was impressed.
Pete came to the penthouse to see Colby, who was baby-sitting. Ryan was packing for his trip. Kendall showed up and tried to talk Ryan into letting her accompany him. Finally, he relented. Pete covertly phoned Aidan with the news that Ryan and Kendall were going out of town together.
With difficulty, Ryan and Kendall entered the morgue. They were about to pull back the sheet when Kendall pointed out to Ryan that Greenlee's engagement ring was in the bag of the victim's personal effects. Ryan immediately fell crying into Kendall's arms. They left the room without looking under the sheet. Ryan told the mortician that the body definitely belonged to Greenlee. After they left, Aidan entered the room with the body and lifted the sheet. Ryan and Kendall went back to the hotel and he poured his heart out to Kendall about his lost love. For her part, she cried about being responsible for Greenlee's death, though Ryan was adamant that Zach and Reese were the true guilty parties. Ryan stood up to go back to his room and thanked Kendall for being by his side. "You've helped me, too," she assured him. Ryan told her that Zach was a fool for walking out on her. Kendall and Ryan hugged ... which turned into a kiss ... which looked like it was going to turn into more.
Wednesday
Aidan saw Ryan and Kendall in bed together but left before they spotted him. Ryan woke up and told Kendall that he wasn't okay. Kendall tried to make him feel okay about the fact that they'd slept together. Ryan said that he didn't want to use Kendall to take down Zach. Kendall told Ryan that she
cared about him and that it was fine for them to seek solace in one another and they had sex again. After, Kendall told Ryan that this was something they both needed, but they had to promise that it was about them, not about getting back at Zach. He readily agreed.
Angie examined Reese at the hospital and told Zach that after surgery, her sight may well return. Reese's spirits were higher than they had been in a long time. Zach assured Reese that he would be there when she emerged from her operation. Angie seemed to pass judgement on Zach for being with Reese and not his wife.
Pete and Colby returned to the Chandler manse from a run. Pete said he was moving into the Martin house that day. JR made a barb about Pete's new housemate, Amanda. Krystal arrived to tell JR about the papers she had made David sign, relinquishing his rights to Amanda's baby. JR was unimpressed. He said that if Krystal really wanted to help, she would stop David from going after his son.
David gave Jesse a warrant to search the Chandler manse for clues as to Little Adam's whereabouts. David followed Jesse to the house and a fight ensued as the cops began their search. David told Krystal that they would talk later about what she was doing there. JR warned David that he would
never find Little A. David reiterated his belief that JR killed Babe and said that he wasn't going to let JR do the same thing to Little A. When the phone rang, Jesse and David pressed JR to answer it. Jesse ordered him to answer it by threatening to arrest him for obstruction of justice if he
didn't. "Hi, Dad," said JR. David grabbed the phone and demanded that Adam return. When Jesse took the phone, JR started cracking up — it was actually Corrina on the line, seeking Colby. David threatened JR and Jesse warned the men that if they kept it up, he would toss them both in jail.
At the Martin house, Jake, Tad, Kathy and Amanda welcomed their new resident, Opal, who was touched by Kathy's welcome sign. The family tried to boost Opal's spirits and make her feel at home as she reeled from the loss of her home and her fortune. Amanda was uncomfortable when Opal volunteered to babysit for her rugrat when it was born and shot Jake a fraught look. Colby and Pete arrived; Colby was rude to Amanda. Chaos erupted as the crew tried to figure out a way to accommodate so many residents. Tad asked Jake how long Amanda would be staying; Jake said that he refused to put the girl out on the street. The group sat down for pizza and board games. Pete paid for dinner, saying that he'd gotten a promotion; Opal congratulated him. Pete answered the door when Krystal arrived bearing some hand-me-downs for Opal; her presence didn't go over too well. Krystal informed Amanda that David had signed papers relinquishing rights to the baby. Tad told Krystal to leave; she returned to Wildwind, where she encountered a ballistic David, who questioned her loyalty to him. Back at the Martins', Opal declared Krystal's donated clothes tacky. Amanda sighed to Jake that the documents David had signed wouldn't keep Hayward away from her child.... David sneaked into the Chandler manse.
Aidan showed up at the hospital and told Zach that he had news about Ryan. He kept mum about the eyeful he'd gotten in Connecticut of Ryan in bed with Kendall but did tell him about a potentially interesting trail of e-mails that he was tracking. Ryan and Kendall showed up to discuss the release of Greenlee's body with Jesse. Kendall locked eyes with Zach across the hall. She approached her husband, so Aidan made himself scarce. She told Zach about going to identify Greenlee's body and noted how difficult it was. "At least you had Ryan," he said pointedly. Angie told Zach that they wouldn't know how Reese's surgery had gone until after her bandages were removed. Zach asked if he could stay with Reese until she woke up and when he took her hand, she stirred. Kendall rejoined Ryan and Aidan and told Ryan that
she had told Aidan and Zach about Greenlee. She excused herself to go to Fusion. Aidan told Ryan that he had gone to the morgue, too, and seen Ryan.
Thursday
Krystal encountered Angie at the hospital. Angie reported that David had missed a staff meeting.
David sneaked into Wildwind and put something in JR's glass. He slipped out before JR returned, leaving a message for Adam about Little Adam and thanking him for keeping the boy safe. JR took a drink and noted that it tasted funny. Colby came home and found JR passed out on the ground.
Zach flashed back to Kendall telling him about having gone to Connecticut to identify Greenlee's body. When Reese stirred, he assured her that her eyesight was coming back. Reese sensed his distraction and he told her about Greenlee's body having been found. Reese offered her ear. Angie entered and stressed the importance of rest; Zach took the hint.
Aidan told Ryan that he'd seen him and Kendall together in Connecticut. Ryan deduced that Zach was paying Aidan to watch him; Aidan denied it and noted that Zach would be a fool to suspect that Ryan and Kendall were sleeping together, given the recentness of Greenlee's demise. Zach entered and Ryan made himself scarce. "What the hell was that?" Zach demanded. Aidan claimed that Ryan was unhappy that Aidan had gone to the morgue. Zach told Aidan not to report on his day trips to Aidan. Angie recommended to Zach that he go
home; he agreed to, after flashing back to being at the hospital during Kendall's coma.
Jack came to Fusion to see Kendall and asked her to tell him what had happened in Connecticut. They comforted one another in their grief over Greenlee. Kendall flashed back to Jack and Erica's wedding, when Zach approached her on the beach. Ryan came by and embraced Jack. Jack gave Ryan
a DVD that Greenlee had made for him before she died, in the event of her death. Jack said that Greens had made him a DVD as well, and he'd watched it over and over again, and that the two of them together — at Fusion, of course — was what Greens had wanted. He excused himself. Ryan beat himself up to Kendall for having slept with Kendall so soon after Greens died; Kendall insisted that Greenlee would understand. After Kendall left, Ryan watched the DVD, in which Greens told Ryan that she wanted him to be happy, with or without him. Ryan was a weepy mess.... Kendall came home to find Zach playing with the boys. She smooched them good night when Rachel came to take them up to bed. Zach accepted Kendall's offer to stay for a glass of wine.... Ryan showed up when Zach was out of the room to apologize for losing his temper earlier with Kendall. She told him it wasn't a good time but he drew her into a passionate kiss — which Zach witnessed.
Tori caught Annie writing mushily about Aidan in her journal. Tori asked for tips on finding such a special guy as Annie brushed her hair. Annie got uncomfortable when Tori started talking about Richie. The gals laughed as Annie gave Tori a makeover. Aidan came by and Annie was going to introduce Aidan to Tori, but Tori was gone. Aidan wanted to know who Tori was and what Annie had told her about herself. Annie assured Aidan that he had nothing to worry about. After Aidan left, Tori returned, and when Tori made a comment about the men who've disappointed Annie, hinting that Aidan would be next, Annie lost her temper.
David and Krystal reunited at the hospital. He claimed that he'd been at a staff meeting but she knew better and called him on it. David expressed resentment of her suspiciousness. Their argument got nasty and David asked if she wanted a divorce. Krystal said she didn't. The fight was interrupted by Angie's announcement that JR had just been brought in by ambulance. Colby and Angie ordered David to stay away from JR. Krystal accused David of having done something to JR. David didn't deny it.... Angie told Colby and Krystal that JR had been poisoned. An angry Angie urged Krystal to open her eyes about what David is capable of. Colby ran off, upset, and left a message for Adam, urging him to come home. David, who heard her leave the message, grinned to himself. Clearly, his plan had worked perfectly.
Friday
Jack completed the paperwork on the work being done on Greenlee's body, including a DNA test. Erica consoled him. When talk turned to Fusion, Jack wanted to know about Adam's role in the company; she tried to change the subject but he pressed her, accusing her of using him to grease the Fusion wheels.
Krystal denied to Angie that David had tried to kill JR. Angie was disgusted with David for poisoning JR and told Krystal that she was done giving her the benefit of the doubt. Krystal went into JR's room; he gripped her hand and demanded to know what Krystal had done to him. Krystal begged JR to bring Little Adam home.
Colby left a message for Adam, summoning him home, which sparked a devilish grin to flash across David's face. David encountered Jesse and denied poisoning JR. Colby told Jesse that she'd seen David driving away when she got home. David denied it and his mole backed up his alibi. Angie threw Krystal out of JR's room and David assured Krystal that because of what he'd done, Adam would return soon. JR was upset when Jesse said that he needed evidence against David before he could arrest him and when Colby told JR that she'd told Adam to come home, JR seethed that that was exactly what David wanted. JR called Adam and told him to stay put. Colby was upset with herself for screwing up and scared about what David would do next.... David assured Krystal that she didn't need Angie; she had him and soon she'd have Little A. Erica and Krystal exchanged barbs in the hallway over Little A. Krystal then reported to David that Erica was back and must know where Little A is....
Angie examined Reese, who was freaked out because of the bright light behind her bandages. Angie stressed that it was critical for Reese to rest. Angie gave her a calmative to help her go to sleep. She had a dream in which her mother and father tried to force her to be straight and marry Simon. Dream Reese tried to be heard as she voiced her love for Bianca. When she woke up, she could see Zach standing in front of her. She told Zach not to get the doctor and that she'd had a dream that enabled her to see things clearly, that she had excised her need for approval and didn't need anyone but Bianca.
Ryan went to the Slater house and pulled Kendall into a kiss — which Zach witnessed. Kendall tried to stop Zach from leaving but couldn't deny that she'd slept with Ryan. He tore off. Ryan reiterated to Kendall that he wasn't using her to get back at Zach. Kendall said she didn't know what she
wanted and Ryan said that he, too, was confused. Erica arrived. She told him she was sorry about Greenlee and added that she was happy to have him on board at Fusion. After he left, Kendall told her mom that Zach had walked
out and that it was her fault. Kendall confessed that she'd slept with Ryan. She cried as she said that she still loved Zach, even though she had feelings for Ryan, too. Erica asked her who she wanted to be with. "I don't know what to do!" she sobbed. Erica said that she would support Kendall no matter what. The doorbell rang; it was Jesse and David. David demanded to know where his grandson was. Erica denied knowing the child's whereabouts. Jesse said he would take her down to the station if necessary.
A frantic Annie begged Aidan to break her out of Oak Haven, insisting that she couldn't miss Emma's birthday. Aidan said that he couldn't, but agreed to bring a gift to Emma from Annie. Tori entered and apologized to Annie for
her earlier behavior. Annie said that they could be friends but that certain subjects (namely Aidan) were off limits. Talk turned to Emma and Tori spoke of the birthday parties she'd had when she was young. Annie became upset when she realized that she couldn't recall any b-day bashes from her own youth. Annie insisted that she needed to remember her own parties, not just Richie's. She speculated that it would help her heal. Tori performed relaxation techniques on Annie to help her recover her memories. Annie recalled a little girl's birthday party and then a child's scream. She awoke with a start.
Ryan came face-to-face with Aidan at Fusion and asked him what he was doing there. Aidan brandished Annie's gift to Ryan and said that Annie had wanted Emma to have it for her birthday. "It's not Emma's birthday," replied a confused Ryan. "It's Annie's."
Jesse told Angie that nothing at the Chandler house linked David to JR's poisoning. David came in and told Jesse that Erica was back.
