AMC Week of January 19, 2009
Monday
JR threatened Jake, who just wanted to see if Amanda was okay. Meanwhile, Amanda checked her pregnancy test — positive. After a spat with JR, Jake left. Amanda came out of the bathroom and suggested JR leave to check up on his son. Once he left, Amanda rushed out.
David needed to speak with Zach — Kendall was dying. Angie asked one of the doctors to test the pills. Greenlee arrived to see how Kendall was. David was about to answer when Kendall flatlined! After stabilizing her (as much as he could, at least), David informed Greenlee that Kendall wouldn't survive the night. Greenlee went to sit by Kendall's side. She told Kendall that she was right about Ryan. "You never give up," Greenlee tearfully said to Kendall.
David caught Jake at the hospital and questioned him as to what he was doing on hospital grounds. Jake covered his tracks. Jake ran into Amanda and tried to tell her that JR was a train wreck. When Amanda tried to brush him off, Jake showed her the large check that David wrote to her. After talking in circles, Amanda admitted the truth and declared herself a whore — right before passing out! When she came to, Amanda told the doctor that no one could know the results of her pregnancy test. The doctor confirmed for Amanda what the home pregnancy test had already told her: she was pregnant. Jake came back into the room and asked Amanda who the father was. "That's the problem. I don't know who the father is," Amanda said sadly.
Erica pleaded with Josh to let Reese go. Jesse told Josh the getaway car was there. Reese tried to break free and a struggle ensued. Zach pulled his gun and shots rang out. Josh went down. Erica rushed to his side. Near death, Josh apologized for everything and begged Erica to tell Kendall he loved her. The EMTs arrived. "Keep him alive at all costs," Zach ordered, "I need that heart." Erica was horrified as Zach explained that Kendall needed a new heart. When they got to the hospital, Erica didn't know what to do — save Josh, or sacrifice her son to save her daughter? Zach spouted orders to David to take Josh's heart and put it into Kendall. Zach rushed to his wife's side and begged her not to give up. Angie delivered the devastating news to Erica that Josh had no brain activity. Zach begged Erica to allow Josh to be taken off life support. David told Erica that it was Kendall's only
hope. Erica, in a state of shock, told David and Angie to do whatever was necessary.
In the waiting room, Reese reassured Zach that Josh's heart would be a match for Kendall and thanked him for saving her life. Reese broke down in tears after recalling how she thought she was going to die. David informed everyone that the tests were underway. Bianca and Erica went to say goodbye to Josh. At his bedside, Erica apologized to Josh for not being able to give him a second chance. Erica sadly kissed her son on the cheek.
Angie asked one of the doctors to test the pills. After testing them, the doctor told Angie, "You're not going to believe what was in those pills." When Jake arrived, Angie told him that most of the ingredients in the pills were not FDA approved. Jesse interrupted their conversation. Jesse was not pleased to find out that Angie had been snooping around
At the Chandler mansion, Colby and Adam played with Little A. After sending him up to bed, Colby and Adam discussed the custody hearing. Adam warned Colby that David would come after Little A soon enough. Colby mentioned that the red car David got Little A was his favorite hristmas present. Colby went upstairs to tuck in Little A. When he was alone, Adam started to hit the toy car with a fire poker. JR arrived to
find that Adam had melted the car! He promised to get Little A a new one in the morning. "Who is the 4 year-old here?" JR asked. Adam scolded JR for his alcohol abuse. Adam suspected that David had something to do with JR's falling off the wagon. JR lost it when Adam suggested JR go
to rehab. Colby tried to calm the two men, but JR wouldn't listen to reason. Adam begged JR to think of Babe the next time he wanted to drink. When Colby tried to get through to JR, he screamed at her to get out. JR remembered Babe wanting to have another child.
David announced that Josh's heart was a match. Erica held onto her son's hand and walked with the doctors into the elevator. "I'll always love you. I'm so sorry," Erica told her son. Zach walked with Kendall into the OR. Erica and Zach watched as their loved ones' lives were about to change forever.
Tuesday
All soaps are preempted today, January 20, for coverage of the Presidential Inauguration. Recaps will resume tomorrow.
Wednesday
Jesse questioned Erica about the time leading up to the shooting. He said he could wait to hear the whole story and said he was praying for Kendall. David came out and told them the surgery was a success, and the next 48 hours were critical. Alone with Erica, David said he was sorry about Josh.
At home, JR poured himself a drink and fell over moments before little A ran in. Little A asked him to play with him, but JR said first he needed a drink. He got down on the floor and played blocks with him, which he promptly knocked over. Little A wasn't happy and when JR hugged him, Little A said he stunk and ran away. Adam came in and quickly realized JR was drunk. JR explained he thought little A was napping. Suddenly in his drunken stupor, JR thought Adam was David, and accused him of trying to take away his son. He stormed out vowing not to let it happen. Later, Adam tried to assure little A that JR was ok.
Jake went by Amanda's and brought her pre-natal vitamins. Amanda said she didn't need them — she was getting an abortion. Jake tried to convince her that she should take more time before making that decision. He wondered if she was rushing because she didn't know who the father was, but she insisted she was just not ready to be a mom. With that, she left to get the abortion, despite Jake telling her he thought she'd be a great mom.
Angie cornered David and showed him the drugs she found — they weren't prescription drugs. She accused him of turning Krystal into an addict. Jesse arrived and Angie showed him the drugs she found and told him to arrest David. David suggested he and Jesse go to his office. When they came back, Jesse told Angie that he had to arrest her for breaking and entering.
Zach told Erica that Kendall was alive because of her, and thanked her for giving her consent for the transplant. Meanwhile, Ryan implied to Greenlee and Reese that Zach could have purposely shot Josh to get his heart for Kendall. Jack arrived at the hospital and checked in with Greenlee. Greenlee said she would do anything for Kendall to wake up and walk out of the hospital. Erica admitted to Joe that she blamed herself for what happened to Josh. He tried to reassure her, and gave her his personal affects. In his wallet, Erica found a picture of Kendall. Ryan approached and Joe left to try calling Jeff. Ryan told Erica he understood what she was going through, because of his decision to give Gillian's heart to Laura. Greenlee brought Jack in and they both expressed their sympathy. Jack offered to take Erica home, and Ryan promised he would let her know if there was any new information. Meanwhile, Bianca and Reese talked about Josh. Zach came over and Bianca thanked him for saving Reese. Zach feared that when Kendall woke up she would only see him as the man that killed her brother. When he came back from visiting her he was thrilled to report how good she looked. Bianca said Zach should go home to the boys, and sent Reese with him. Greens went to get snacks, and Bianca suggested to Ryan that they postpone the wedding. Ryan didn't think they should wondered if she only wanted to postpone because she still suspected something was going on with Reese and Zach. Bianca said she was glad Reese and Zach were close and she was certain she wanted to marry Reese.
JR went to the dock where he screamed that he should been taken, not Babe. Amanda found him there, and he told her that he'd scared little A. She suggested him he get sober and go home to his son. JR stumbled and fell into the water, and with no other options, Amanda dove in after him.
Back at Erica's hotel room, Jack said he wanted to stay with her. Erica told him that she feared Josh could have woken up eventually, had she not given Kendall his heart. Jack insisted Josh couldn't have been helped. Erica began arguing with him. She was annoyed that she was alone in making the decision. She clearly thought he should have been there. Jack was having a hard time keeping up with the rules of their relationship. He excused himself, and said for her to call him if there as anything he could do. Not long after, he came back. He wanted to know where they stood. He thought there must be a way for them to stop hurting each other. Erica admitted that Josh once told her he thought Jack was the man for her. She wished Josh had let her help him. Jack embraced her.
At home, Zach told Spike and Ian that their mom would be home soon. Reese took the boys to bed, and Zach held Gabrielle. When Reese came back out, Zach had fallen asleep on the couch holding the baby. Reese covered him with a blanket and took Gabby. Meanwhile, Bianca and Greenlee prayed for Kendall and Ryan urged her to live.
Thursday
Krystal walked around ConFusion and ran into Opal. Opal tried to be friendly, but Krystal was hostile, telling Opal she didn't want to be lectured about her mistakes. As she turned to go, Tad appeared. Krystal felt ambushed, but Opal assured her that she just wanted to bury the hatchet. Krystal was surprised to hear Opal support her about the children. Tad asked Opal to stay out of the situation. Tad offered Krystal some time with the kids, but before Krystal could say anything David called her and wanted to see her. After telling Tad she needed to take a rain check, Tad coldly handed her her jacket and she left. Opal and Tad discussed what a mess everything had become. Tad told his mother that his marriage to Krystal was over, but that he still cared deeply about her.
Jesse began to arrest Angie. Angie rolled her eyes and tried to walk away, but David insisted on pressing charges. Angie could not believe Jesse's willingness to bring her in. After arguing, Angie sighed. "Cuff me," she said. Before leaving, Angie warned David that he wasn't fooling anyone. "What is wrong with you? Taking that fool's word over mine?" Angie shouted to Jesse when they were alone. Around the corner, David smirked. At the police station, Angie raised hell in the questioning room while David manipulated the situation when Krystal arrived and made it seem like Angie was trying to frame him. Angie came out of the questioning room and sparred with David some more. Angie was free to go but she wasn't finished making her point. As Krystal went to leave with David, Angie grabbed her and tried to talk some sense into her. "If you really care about me, Angie, just leave me alone." Angie, realizing she wasn't winning this one, prepared to go, but then David informed her that because she was now part of a police investigation, she was suspended from the hospital. "Just breathe," Jesse quietly said to his wife who was able to explode.
Amanda pulled JR from the water. Once they got back to the yacht Amanda took off her wet clothes and threw some towels at JR. Amanda reamed into JR for drinking near the water. In the midst of their arguing, JR passed out. Amanda called Jake for help. Jake arrived and assured Amanda everything was going to be alright, but was worried that JR tried to kill himself. Amanda assured him that what happened was an accident. Jake switched the subject to Amanda's baby. Amanda asked Jake to keep an eye on JR and split. When JR woke up, Jake lectured JR about trying to kill himself. JR said it was an accident, but Jake just told JR to stop the pity party. When JR went into the bathroom, he found Amanda's pregnancy test box. Jake tried to calm an
angry JR down, JR stormed off.
Taylor and Brot walked into ConFusion. She was using her cane. After being stared at by guests and staff alike, the two were seated. Brot was self-conscious when he noticed some kids staring at him. Taylor told him not to worry about it.
Colby and her two friends sat down at ConFusion. When her friends starting making fun of Pete, Colby defended him and admitted she liked hanging out with him. Then the attention shifted to the "freak" who was sitting at another table - Brot. Colby didn't say anything when her friends started making jokes. Colby got angry and stood up, scolding her "friends" for being so insensitive. Brot noticed his friend standing up for him, but wasn't happy. He yelled at Colby not to fight his battles and stormed off. When the hostess asked if there was a problem, Taylor told her that she was tired of all the stuck up "bitches" who weren't all that. She then told the shallow hostess that Brot was a soldier. "Your welcome," Taylor said.
At Tad's, Krystal spent a little time with Jenny before Tad insisted the little girl go to bed. Tad asked Krystal why she bolted earlier, and Krystal explained that Angie had joined the ranks of the David-haters. Tad was horrified when Krystal took David's side over Angie's arrest. "Don't let him
erase everything you are," Tad pleaded. Tad tried desperately to get through an emotionally far-gone Krystal, even going so far as to grab her and shake her. When he realized he couldn't get through to her, he told her to get out. Tad sadly held Jenny as Krystal left.
Amanda rushed through the hospital and ran into David, who wanted to know what she was doing there. Amanda made up a story about wanting to see Kendall and continued to lie when David didn't believe her. When she finally got free of David, she went to her appointment. As she was about to go see the doctor, JR rushed in to stop her. Amanda told him to get lost.
Angie waited at the hospital for the results of the drug analysis. Jesse sadly told her that Krystal's pills were prescription medication. Angie, defeated, left. David gloated, but not before Jesse grabbed him and warned him not to mess with his wife again...
Friday
At the hospital, Frankie told Reese and Binks that Kendall is "holding her own." The ladies were flummoxed when Frankie revealed Zach hasn't been to see his wife since the transplant. Zach dropped by Ryan's to pick up Spike and was suspiciously tight-lipped about Kendall's progress. "That was
weird," declared Greenlee. At the casino, Zach (and Spike!) offered Brot a job in security. "I don't need your handouts," huffed Brot. Back at Ryan's, he boggled when Greens suggested Zach be his best man. They were en route to the bedroom when Dr. Sinclair called Ryan about Annie's condition. Later, Brot left a note turning down Zach's offer and ran into Taylor. They argued about her meddling. Brot wanted Taylor to back off. Taylor backed off all the way to PT and Jake then showed up to butt into Brot's business, calling Brot out on his moping. He'd pushed his feelings for Taylor aside for Brot and, "Do not tell me that was for nothing." Alone with Greenlee, Emma observed, "I have a lot to teach you about being a mommy." Then they had a baking crisis and Greenlee rushed a burned Emma to PVH. Nearby, Brot and Taylor caught up and overheard Emma's cries of pain. Brot introduced himself and asked Emma to be brave and let Frankie help her.
JR left multiple messages for Amanda at Fusion. Erica complained about being the only one to put Fusion ahead of her personal life. Erica made excuses when Amanda gently said she could go to the hospital. Then JR dropped by in person, so Erica made Amanda and JR leave — but not before thanking Amanda for her concern. Later, Bianca walked in as Erica blasted Pete for his lack of grammatical skill with a mockup. Bianca worried Erica was taking on too much and offered to help out but Erica nixed that. Reese, meanwhile, offered to drive an evasive Zach to see Kendall. Zach opened up about how Kendall didn't feel like the same person with someone else's heart. And what if Kendall wouldn't love him anymore? Reese urged him to give it a chance. At ConFusion, JR talked to Amanda about the baby in past tense and she revealed she didn't have an abortion. Amanda didn't want her pregnancy to impact JR when he was mourning Babe and fighting for sobriety. She was having the baby, but everything after was her choice, not his. Back at Fusion, Pete and Randi were glad to see Erica go and Bianca dressed them down for the jokes. At PVH, Zach hesitated outside Kendall's room and Reese urged him in. Later,
Jake showed up at ConFusion (he was making the rounds!) and remarked on Amanda drinking club soda. He guessed Amanda thought David was her baby daddy.
Through Oak Haven's air vent, Annie told Aidan she remembered stabbing Erica. Aidan warned her not to tell Dr. Sinclair but she could tell him anything. Dr. Sinclair lurked outside as Aidan urged Annie to stick with him. Annie began to talk about Richie and then the doc burst in, demanding to know if Annie was talking TO Richie. Doc Sinclair cruelly told Annie that Richie is dead. Once she left, Aidan comforted Annie, gently confirming that Annie had killed her brother but urging her to stay silent. They shared a poignant moment as Annie plaintively asked "Mr. Stone" to hold her hand. They visualized it and Aidan described seeing her future in her palm. "You're not alone," Aidan murmured. "Not when I'm with you," she sighed. She then double-checked to make sure Mr. Stone was real and not a vision like Richie. She told him that she knew who he was: he used to love "the mean lady." Had they ever loved each other? No, they were friends. When Annie mentioned Greens hurting Aidan like Ryan hurt her, she could tell he'd stopped holding her hand. Ryan arrived at Oak Haven, where Dr. Sinclair questioned him about Annie and Richie. Aidan got tearful just as the Oak Haven administrator let him out of his "cell." Annie begged not to be left alone. Aidan hid as Ryan harangued the administrator about Dr. Sinclair's behavior. Back in her room, a hysterical Annie remembered killing her brother.
End of episode, Zach laid his head on Kendall's chest and listened. Bianca and Reese looked on as he confirmed, "I can hear it...it's her heart." Bianca and Zach hugged tightly and Erica peered in through the window.
