AMC Week of February 22, 2010
Monday
At the hospital, Angie pulled Jesse into her office and tried to explain her professional situation to him. Jesse assured Angie that he believes in her and they embraced. Frankie came in and Jesse told his son that he was whisking Angie away for some much-needed private time. Jesse took Angie to a room at the Yacht Club and they made love. A doctor came by with a message for Angie about an uninsured patient. Frankie made the decision not to interrupt his folks. Natalia came by to see her brother but he was being kept busy taking messages for Angie. Later, Frankie got word that the uninsured patient died as a result of him not having rushed the message to Angie.
Ryan overheard Greenlee telling Jake that if Ryan didn't back off, it could kill her. Jake tried to reason with her. Jake left the room and ran into Ryan. Ryan poured his heart out about his desire to do right by Greenlee. Greens wasn't happy when Ryan came in to see her but he assured her that he was going to back off. Greenlee seemed to start enjoying Ryan's company and they shared some laughs over their past together. She was touched when he remembered her birthday and presented her with a celebratory cupcake. Ryan then contentedly watched as Greenlee napped.
Tad updated Liza on his search for Sonia Reyes. Damon showed up at ConFusion with bad news about Stuart: Bailey had decided to remain home with her family and the baby. Liza was deeply saddened. Tad comforted her before going to chat with Damon. He tried to boost the teen's spirits. Tad offered to find some odd jobs for Damon, who was grateful for the offer. Jake arrived and tried to console Liza. Tad was summoned away by Adam. Liza and Damon gazed at a picture of Stuart together. Natalia entered and arrested Damon for the break-ins because Damon's blood proved to be a match to the blood found at the scene.
Annie picked up the tire iron on the porch and flashed back to ending Richie's life. She brandished the weapon as Adam approached her. Scott also came in, followed by Colby, and she snapped back to reality. Annie believed that Greenlee had done this to her. Scott privately asked Colby how she could do such a thing. Colby copped to being behind the stunt but remained unrepentant. Scott told Colby that he was going to divulge the truth to Adam if she didn't. Adam heard Colby accusing Scott of still having the hots for Annie. Adam blasted Annie, Scott and Colby for their behavior. He spat that they all needed to shape up or he'd disinherit them. Scott agreed that they needed to focus on JR's health. Colby nearly broke down over her brother's condition. Annie then confronted Colby with the tire iron and tried to freak her out. Adam told Tad to speed up the search for Sonia Reyes and more importantly, Sonia's son, who could be a bone marrow match for JR. He gave Tad loads of cash to help the mission.
Tuesday
At the hospital, Frankie was evasive and distant with Randi, who was grilling him about why he wasn't keeping up with his physical therapy. He admitted to his wife that he'd made a terrible mistake which could ruin his mother. In her office, Angie had a flirty talk with Jesse on the phone, then learned that a patient had died and hung up. When the patient's physician berated her for having ignored his message, which could have saved the man's life, Angie was devastated and blamed herself even though Frankie hadn't relayed the message. Frankie told Randi about what had happened the night before. After dismissing the angry doctor, Angie got a call with bad news about JR's test results.
Tad told Adam that he had tracked down Sonia Reyes and her son, Miguel, who had agreed to be tested as a bone marrow match for JR. He excused himself when Annie entered. Annie told Adam that she owed him an apology. He was pleased with her mea culpa. Annie then told Adam that she was interested in working for Tempo as its editor. She made a case for her hiring. Adam got a call from Angie telling him that none of their family members were bone marrow matches for JR. Adam said that he had another sample (Miguel's) coming that day from California. Tad arrived with Miguel's swab and heard the bad news about the test results.... Home alone, Annie made plans to revamp Tempo and was stunned when she opened the door and found Brooke standing there.
Marissa and JR had breakfast with Little A. JR suggested that they have an early celebration of Little A's birthday. Little A said that for his birthday, he wanted a new name: Buzz. Marissa suggested AJ, which the child loved. JR became weak while playing with his son and called Tad, asking him to come over. When Tad showed up as AJ's party was in full swing, JR tearfully asked Tad to be there for AJ. JR tried to cover his dwindling physical condition but he lost consciousness and collapsed.
Erica returned to the penthouse with scones and latte for a tied-up David, who was going ballistic and told Erica that he would agree to her terms (marry Greenlee, get her to give up Fusion and leave town with her). She didn't buy his easy acquiescence. David flipped when Erica wouldn't let him take Gayle's repeated calls. Erica enjoyed taunting David about how she might get Gayle to turn on him. Erica got David to go off on a tirade against Gayle, comparing her brain to that of a chicken's. Erica then invited a hidden Gayle to enter; she did, fuming. Gayle went off on David for his betrayal. Erica was able to quickly get Gayle to agree to work with her against David, whose only interest was in making David suffer. Erica then made it clear to David that he either had to submit to her terms or risk the wrath of Gayle.
Frankie went to see Angie about the deceased patient and took full responsibility. Angie was deeply disappointed in Frankie for letting his personal life (wanting his parents to have time alone together) interfere with his professional life. Even though Frankie made it clear that he didn't want her to cover for him, she told Frankie to keep his mouth shut and let her handle things. Frank was so upset by their encounter that he slammed down his injured hand, hurting it anew. Adam gave Miguel's sample to Angie for testing.
Wednesday
JR was rushed to the ER. Tad updated Adam on JR's collapse as Angie and other physicians tended to JR. The doctors delivered a sobering prognosis to the family, but Adam insisted that they would find a bone marrow donor match and that JR would be fine. Adam and Tad agreed not to tell JR yet about Miguel. Adam admitted to Tad that Miguel is his son.
Annie tried to usher Brooke out of the mansion but she helped herself to a seat to wait for Adam. Brooke revealed that she was there to interview for the job as chief editor at Tempo. Annie announced that she had already been hired herself. Scott entered and had a warm reunion with Brooke. Colby followed, hugged Brooke, then broke the bad news that JR was at the hospital, ill with cancer. Brooke said she would join them. Colby didn't want Annie to come but Scott suggested that she stay behind to watch Emma. Alone, Annie did Internet research on Brooke and was bummed by Brooke's prestigious achievements. Emma skipped into the room and told her daughter that she had to convince Adam to give her the job.
At the hospital, Adam was ecstatic when Brooke showed up. Tad and Brooke embraced warmly. Marissa went to see a despondent JR, who was giving up hope. Brooke reunited with Angie in her office and Angie opened up a bit about the struggle of balancing her home and work lives. Meanwhile, the fam gathered in JR's room to continue AJ's birthday celebration and JR tried to put on a happy face for his son's sake. Adam told Brooke he hoped that she planned on staying for a while. Krystal and AJ joined the "welcome back Brooke" wagon. Adam introduced Brooke to Marissa. Brooke went into JR's room and JR thanked her for having her bone marrow tested. Brooke told JR that Jamie was doing well. Later, JR wept to Marissa as he thanked her for all that she had meant to him. The Chandlers celebrated in the waiting room when Tad announced that a match had been found.
Greenlee woke up and Ryan told he that she wasn't dreaming. Ryan copped to having watched her sleep. "You're beautiful," he beamed. He told her that she was free to go. Ryan said that as much as he wanted Greenlee to be with him, he wanted her to be happy more, but that he wasn't going to give up on the idea of a future with her.
David was bummed that Erica had turned Gayle against him. "Fusion's yours," he sighed, forced to accept the terms of her deal. David noted that by now, Ryan and Greenlee could have reconciled. Erica said it didn't matter and released David, commenting that she thought their partnership would yield great fruit. David returned to Wildwind and called Greenlee, who told Ryan that she had to deal with Ryan in person. Erica observed David's concern for Greenlee and wondered if she had real feelings for her. David evaded the question. Greenlee showed up and told Erica to get out. The ladies bickered over Jack and Fusion before Erica excused herself. Erica went to Fusion and reeled at Greenlee's memo announcing that Greenlee was back in charge and that Erica was no longer with the company. Jack showed up and Erica warned him that she would sue his daughter. Jack said that he was there to ask Erica to step aside. Erica ordered Randi to send out a memo telling the staff to disregard Greenlee's instructions. She turned her attention back to Jack and told him that she would not give up Fusion without a fight. When pressed, Erica admitted to Jack that "this" wasn't just about protecting Kendall's interests. Randi reported to Erica that the lock on La Kane's office had been changed. Back at Wildwind, the minister showed up to perform Greenlee and David's wedding. He suggested to Greens that they rethink their plan, noting that she still loves Ryan, but she still wanted to go through with the ceremony. David and Greenlee were in the middle of exchanging vows when Erica returned.
Ryan went by the Chandler manse in the hopes of seeing Emma. He sidestepped Annie's questions about Greenlee and embraced Emma. Annie called Angie, who refused to give her an update on JR's condition.
Thursday
At the hospital, the Chandlers celebrated that a donor had been found for JR. Annie arrived after Adam ran into JR's room to give the good news to JR and Marissa. Adam was evasive about the donor's identity but JR demanded answers as the rest of the family, Brooke and Tad filed in. Tad suggested that they leave before Adam told the clan about the long-ago one-night-stand that resulted in Miguel, who was now headed to town to save JR's life. Krystal showed up and got the skinny on the secret son from Tad and Brooke. Scott picked up on Annie's jealousy of the son Adam had never even met. JR issued a heartfelt "thank you" to his dad for finding Miguel. JR's doctor came in to say that he needed to be put in isolation to protect against infection. Marissa caught up with Krystal about Miguel. Krystal sang Tad's praises for tracking down Miguel. "You still love him," noted Marissa. She downplayed her feelings but Marissa advised her to tell Tad how she feels.
Ryan received a visit from Jake and tried to explain why he had let Greenlee return to David. They went to ConFusion, where they set to work on polishing off a bottle of bourbon.
Erica entered the room as David and Greenlee were exchanging vows at Wildwind. Jack showed up as Erica demanded that Greenlee give her back the keys to her office at Fusion. Greens refused. Greenlee and Jack left to have a private conversation in the hallway but Greens wouldn't back down from her commitment to marrying David. David assured Erica that he was working on getting her the keys she sought. Greens invited Erica to stay and be her maid of honor; Erica left instead. The ceremony resumed and David and Greenlee wed. David suggested that they go away. She was suspicious and asked him, "What exactly was going on between you and Erica?"
At the police station, Brot was upset with Natalia for planning to use herself as bait to catch an identity thief. She went to ConFusion and met a likely suspect at the bar as Brot watched from across the room. Nat spied Brot and dragged him into a corridor, ordering him to back off. Brot wouldn't relent. Natalia returned to the gent but Ryan soon sidled up and tried to buy her a drink. When the man objected, Ryan decked him. Ryan then revealed that the man, Larry, had been using a data scanner to get Natalia's credit card info from her purse. Nat showed Larry her badge and summoned a cop car; Jake complimented Ryan for his detective skills. Natalia thanked Ryan for his help.
In an interrogation room, Liza explained to Damon that she was still representing him because she knows how much he loves his son. When Colby called, Liza dashed out to meet up with her at the hospital, not answering Damon when he asked if Colby was okay. Liza caught a glimpse of Tad and Krystal hugging when she got to the hospital. Colby then broke the news to Liza that Adam has another kid. Liza was surprised when Brooke entered. Scott caught Annie trying to get Brooke not to discuss Tempo at the hospital and realized that Adam hadn't yet given Annie the job. Liza went into JR's room with the adoption papers. Adam didn't want JR to continue with the adoption but JR insisted that he wants Marissa to be AJ's legal mother. Marissa came in and signed the papers. Colby told Scott and Liza that she was holding up okay. Liza asked Colby to take a stroll with her. Liza broke the news that Bailey and Stuart were gone for good. Damon arrived and broke the news to Colby that he had lied about being innocent of the robberies. She slapped him and ran off.
Adam approached Annie but got distracted by Brooke. "Brooke is really like family," Adam told Annie. Annie did not like this one bit. Trailed by Annie, Adam went into the lobby to see Brooke. Brooke told Adam that according to Annie, he had hired Annie to run the magazine. Adam claimed that this was the first he'd heard of it. He was eager to rehire Brooke and told Annie that she could learn the business with Brooke as her mentor. Tad, meanwhile, went to the airport to retrieve Miguel. When he returned, it was with bad news for Adam: Miguel wasn't on the plane.
At Erica's request, Brot went to Fusion. She handed him an ax and asked him to help her do some remodeling. Erica got a call and told Brot that she had to go. He was thoroughly confused. Erica met up with a nearly hysterical Gayle. She confirmed that David had gone through with marrying Greenlee. Erica asked Gayle to hide when there was a knock on the door. Brot showed up to make sure Erica was okay; she said she was and cut their visit short. But much to Erica's chagrin, Gayle had had adequate time to escape.
Friday
Jake urged Ryan to keep Greenlee away from David. Natalia joined them as Ryan declared that the key to bringing down David was Nurse Gayle. Natalia was sickened by the men's description of David's crimes. She wanted to help them. Back at the police station, Natalia got Gayle's number for Jake and Ryan. Jake ignored Amanda's call; he and Ryan sent a text to Gayle.
Erica searched for Gayle, who had fled. Opal came to see her bearing gifts. Erica explained her need to track down Gayle to maintain control over David.
David admitted to Greenlee that he was working with Erica against her, but assured her that his true loyalty was to Greens. Erica walked in in time to hear David telling Greenlee that by the time Erica figured out that he was double-crossing her, it would be too late; Fusion would be Greenlee's. Erica went to the police station hoping to get info on Gayle's whereabouts. Back at Wildwind, Greenlee told David that she trusts him and their relationship. She kissed him passionately — which Gayle observed through the window. Greenlee asked David to make love to her. He gently turned her down on the grounds that she didn't have to prove anything to him.
Erica went home and updated Opal. Later, David showed up at Erica's door. They played cat and mouse about their plan. David asked to see Gayle. She showed him the door.
Annie and Brooke's working relationship got off to a rocky start.... Adam flipped when Tad broke the news that Miguel wasn't on the flight. Adam, Tad and Marissa went into JR's room and Adam fibbed to JR about what was delaying Miguel. JR saw through it. Crushed, he asked for time alone with his wife. In the hallway, Liza tried to reassure Colby that JR would be fine. Colby vented to Scott and Liza about Damon having lied to her. Adam and Tad then told them about Miguel's disappearance and began to argue. Annie was livid when Brooke was the one who managed to calm Adam down and took him aside for a private talk. The family learned that Brooke and Jamie had proven not to be matches. Colby goaded Annie over Brooke. Annie privately asked the doctor to be tested. JR and Tad had an emotional conversation. Later, Adam went in to see his son. JR asked Adam to be realistic about his condition, then lost consciousness. "He's slipping into a coma," reported the doctor.
Brot teased Natalia about Ryan catching the perp for her. Ryan and Jake met up with Gayle at the airport. They asked her to help them bring David down. She told them that Erica had summoned her to town and that David and Greenlee had gone through with the wedding. At Wildwind, Greenlee flashed back to her wedding to David and her wedding to Ryan. Jake brought Gayle to the turret room. When Greenlee showed up, Jake covered and tried to block her from entering. Back at Erica's, Ryan showed up. "I need you," he said.
