All My Children Recaps

AMC Week of December 29, 2008

Monday

Krystal woke up at Wildwind as David played piano. "Don't stop," she said of
his musical performance. But soon reality hit her and she started getting
dressed, frantic about the girls. He calmed her down. She thanked him for
rescuing her from the fire. She returned home to find the place completely
restored thanks to David's "generosity." An overwhelmed Krystal threw her
arms around David. Colby, Pete, Jenny and Kathy soon joined. Pete was
rocking a new look (contact lenses) and conversed with David, who advised
him not to get involved with a Chandler. After David left, Colby remarked
that David seemed nicer than usual. Krystal said that David is actually
rather caring. Once alone, Krystal was tempted to take more pills, and
called Winifred to ask her to watch the girls.

JR and Amanda returned to the Chandler manse with Little Adam, who was
warmly greeted by Adam. JR thanked Amanda for helping him to conceal his
hangover. Amanda's guilty conscience was weighing heavily upon her, but JR
recommitted to sobriety, which she found reassuring. Adam confronted Amanda
about whether JR had fallen off the wagon — and whether she'd caught him or
pushed him. JR overheard the tail end of Adam's diatribe and ordered him to
back off. Colby and Pete came over after spending time at the Martin house
and reported that David had been there, cozied up to Krystal. JR and Adam
lamented the success David seemed to be having in getting Krystal under his
spell. Pete asked Colby out on a date for New Year's Eve. She declined. He
was hurt and left.

At Oak Haven, Annie's disappearance created an uproar. Aidan hid from Jesse,
who read the riot act to Dr. Sinclair. As Annie slept in the penthouse in
Emma's bed, Ryan and Greenlee frolicked downstairs and celebrated their
restored love. The sounds of their play woke Annie up. Jesse left an urgent
message for Ryan warning him about Annie's escape, but he was too busy
making out with Greenlee to answer the call. Annie walked downstairs and
asked "Daddy" what he was doing with the mean lady. Ryan tried to play along
with Annie, who insisted she was Emma, and Greens attempted to call the
police, but "Emma" made her put down the phone. When the real Emma returned
with Opal and threw her arms around her mom, Annie was baffled. Annie looked
at herself in a mirror and deduced that she was not Emma. Ryan sent Emma and
Opal out of the house. Back at Oak Haven, Jesse demanded to speak to the
patient, Mr. Stone (really Aidan), who had discovered Dr. Sinclair
unconscious. Aidan, who was lurking nearby, dodged a bullet because Jesse
was just about to question him (and expose his charade) when the call came
in about Annie's whereabouts (via Opal's call). Dr. Sinclair asked Mr. Stone
why he hadn't wanted Jesse to see his face. Aidan came up with a cover story
and planted a kiss on the doc as part of his act.... Ryan did his best to
explain to Annie that she was Emma's mother, not the child herself. Annie
grabbed a letter opener and told Greenlee, "Get out of my house, bitch."
Trying to restrain her, Ryan was knocked to the ground, and Greenlee goaded
Annie to give Ryan the chance to get his footing. Ryan restrained Annie just
as the cops rushed in.... As punishment for his behavior, Aidan was
overpowered by attendants and doped up.... Greenlee told Ryan that she
didn't believe that they would ever be free of Annie, who was brought back
to Oak Haven and put in restraints.

David returned to Wildwind; Amanda was there with proof (a video on her cell
phone) that JR had gotten soused. Though she made it clear to David that she
thinks he's a jerk, she took the fat check he offered her for services
rendered. Amanda then went to the Chandler manse and told JR that she could
not see him anymore because she's bad for him. JR was crestfallen and
tempted to drink. Krystal, meanwhile, came back to Wildwind and told David
that she needed him. She instigated a passionate kiss.

Tuesday

Brot picked up Taylor for her physical therapy session. When they started
reminiscing, he pulled away, and Taylor called him out on it. He tried to
focus the conversation on her need for healing and she was equally stubborn
in trying to get him to confront the issues between them.

At the hospital, Joe filled Jake in about the uprising in the village where
Jamie and Jeff were working. The upshot? The Martin men, Tad included, were
missing. Jake regretted that Tad had put himself in the line of fire. JR
came by in search of David and ran into Amanda; he tried to plead with her
not to sever her ties to him, but she insisted that she was bad for him.
After she rushed off, Jake appeared and told JR that he'd deserved the
decking he received from JR at ConFusion. Jake told Tad that JR had gone
missing in the Congo; JR told Jake that David was worming his way into
Krystal's life and had forced Joe to step down as chief of staff.

At Windwind, David tried to convince Krystal not to regret their night
together. He was extremely successful, as before too long, they were ripping
each other's clothes off. Joe called Krystal and told her that he needed to
speak to her in person. She tried to put it off, but he insisted that it was
urgent. Krystal feared that Joe knew of her infidelity. She went to the
hospital and had another anxiety attack when Joe told her about Tad (and
David and JR had words over the dedication of Babe's wing).

Taylor showed up at the hospital while Jake was losing his temper with a
nurse. He explained to Taylor that he was dealing with the disappearances of
his brothers and nephew. They also chatted about Brot; Taylor said she
feared that once Brot knew she could walk, he would leave her again.

Observing David when he rushed to Krystal's aid during her anxiety attack,
JR told Jake that he suspected an affair. David spoke at the dedication as
Amanda, JR, Jake, Joe, Krystal and others looked on. After David's speech,
Jake spoke to the crowd, revealing that David had blackmailed Joe into
stepping down. "I don't know which is worse," said David. "Your bad timing
or your bad taste." David denied any wrongdoing and told Jake that he was
fired, effective immediately. David returned home and tried to reach
Krystal, who didn't answer her phone because, as it turned out, she was also
at Wildwind. She said that David's return had destroyed her life; he
countered that she was just upset about Babe. "I miss her so much," Krystal
wept, falling into David's embrace.

Jake, with his office packed up, was approached by Amanda, who asked him if
he would be okay. He apologized for having called her a hooker and assured
her that it wouldn't be long before David got what was coming to him. Amanda
next approached JR, who was about to have a glass of champagne. "You don't
need that," she said. "You're right," he replied. "I need you." He swept her
into a kiss.

Bianca and Reese discussed how to stop Erica from making their wedding a
circus. They chatted about eloping but Bianca didn't want it to look like
they were running away. Zach entered and suggested that they wed at the
casino. Reese and Bianca invited them to spend New Year's Eve with them
(he'd forgotten that today was the big day).

At the penthouse, Ryan tried to assuage Greenlee's fears about Annie. With
Emma slated to go to Opal's for the night, Ryan had romance on his mind, but
Greens had to go to the hospital to spend time at Kendall's bedside. After
she left, Emma came downstairs and asked Ryan if Greenlee was her new mommy.
Ryan reassured the girl that her mom was getting the help she needed and
that Greenlee was their good friend.

At the hospital, Greens encountered Reese and Bianca. Binks went to see
Kendall and Reese and Greenlee bonded over their respective relationships.
Reese's words about her love for Bianca struck a chord with Greens. She
raced back to the penthouse, where Ryan gave her a gift (a new dress), then
popped the question. "I can't!" she exclaimed, after flashing back to the
disturbing images she'd seen in her dreams. Reese, meanwhile, returned to
the casino and explained to Zach that she was flying solo for the moment
because Binks was home with a fussy Gaby. At home, Binks gave last-minute
instructions to Rachel and was on her way out when she was surprised by an
unexpected visitor: Simon, Reese's ex-fiance. At the casino, Reese and Zach
watched the New Year's Eve countdown together and he gave her a New Year's
kiss, which, while on the cheek, was nonetheless rather intimate and left
her seeming jarred.

Brot went to see Zach about how he got the charges dropped. Zach assured
Brot that he didn't owe him anything. After their bonding session, Brot went
back to Taylor's. He suggested that they practice walking. But when she fell
into his arms, he became uncomfortable and beat a hasty exit. She was
crestfallen.

Friday

At the casino, Reese and Zach rang in the new year together. They shared a
platonic kiss, which Reese felt strange about. He allayed her fears, noting
that they were just (very) close friends. She promised not to be freaked out
about their intimacy anymore and opened up to Zach about her history with
Simon.

Bianca was stunned when Simon, Reese's ex, showed up at her door. Binks
invited him in and listened as Simon recounted the story of his relationship
with Reese and its eventual dissolution. Reese called and was stunned when
Bianca reported that she was with Simon. Simon and Bianca came to the
casino. Binks and Zach excused themselves and Bianca admitted to Zach that
she felt the need to make sure that Reese wasn't going to leave her the way
she left Simon. Zach implored Binks to trust her beloved. In the other room,
Reese tried to explain herself to Simon, telling him, "With you, I was
trying to be something that I just wasn't." She and Simon said good-bye and
Zach returned home, leaving the women alone. Binks promised Reese that she
loved her and trusted her; they kissed as Zach played with Gabrielle at
home.

At the penthouse, Ryan tried to convince Greenlee to marry him. She believed
that the nightmares she'd been having proved that they could never be wed.
Ryan told Greens that he wasn't going to give up on her.

Dr. Sinclair grilled Annie about her recent escape from Oak Haven. Annie
insisted that the doc needed to release her so that she could kill Greenlee.
Sinclair left to check on "Mr. Stone" (really Aidan) and learned that he'd
been let out of isolation. Aidan asked the administrator who'd gotten him
into the facility why there was a hidden camera in Annie's room. Aidan
sneaked into a storage room and found the computer that Dr. Sinclair was
using to secretly watch Annie. Meanwhile, Ryan showed up to see Sinclair
about Annie, to make sure that she was no longer able to escape. The doc
reassured Ryan that Annie was being transferred that night to maximum
security. In her room, Annie continued to ramble about Greenlee needing to
die.

Greens went to the Cortlandts' to see Opal. She told Opal about her visions
and accepted Opal's offer of a card reading. After doing the reading, Opal
pronounced confidently, "Your destiny is with Ryan." Greatly relieved,
Greens returned home, where she told Ryan that she was no longer afraid.
"Ask me again," she beamed. He re-popped the question and she happily
accepted — but back at Opal's, she saw something dire in the cards and
gasped, "Oh, my God. Oh, Greenlee."
